Fan Art I threw a Don't Starve birthday party for my wife.

My wife loves this game, so I themed her birthday party around it. In the months leading up to it I made sure we played lots of Don't Starve Together, and all the while I was secretly taking notes and getting ready for her surprise party.

I made a bunch of game pieces and character cutouts out of cardboard and sharpie and we ran a live action game of don't starve.

We gathered resources I had spread around the yard, crafted them up into equipment and a base, we fought the hounds, shaved a beefalo, hunted a koalefant, trapped spiders, and in the end, just after we got established for winter, deerclops destroyed all our hard work and killed us all.

The way it all works was I gave the party a goal at "dawn" and I moved time along based on how far they had gotten towards that goal. I got all the game music and transition effects and played them through speakers at the appropriate times.

For the buffet table I made ratatouille, meatballs, kabobs, fistfuls of jam, steamed twigs, and "dragonfruit" pie for dessert.

One of her friends who likes to do clown stuff showed up as Wes.

It was a great time. Thought you all might like to see some of the stuff I made.

DST Favorite content mods for DST?

I've looked for threads about this but everyone always talks about the same handful of QOL mods; Geometric Placement, Craft Pot, Combined Status, etc.

I wanna know what you guys are running, in terms of actually adding stuff to the game.

Heap of Foods is packed with Hamlet/Shipwrecked content, it doesn't feel like a 'food mod', it feels like a full-on DLC for the game. New mobs, new biomes, new everything. Probably my #1 favorite content mod for the game.

If you're anything like me, you'll eventually mod every game yourself for that perfect customization. Custom Character Tweaks allowed me to customize lots of things about the main cast without having to break out Notepad++ and learn Lua.

You probably already know about it but Uncompromising Mode really did bring back that pre-Reign of Giants feeling of hardcore survival the original game brought. Even if you don't like your DST more hardcore, it has tons of configs and loads of content that anybody, regardless of skill level, should be able to appreciate.

It's not just for decoration! JingXi Furniture adds loads of new structures that many people might use an entire mod just to have; ice maker machine, faster crockpots, item deconstructor etc. I actually really enjoy this one and the English translation is basically flawless!

Above the Clouds is a SHOCKINGLY faithful re-creation of the Hamlet DLC in DST! I've only noticed one or two extremely minor things that weren't carried over properly (the Aporkalypse Calendar does not flash red when the Aporkalypse arrives for example) but the bulk of the experience is identical and extremely fun with friends.

Marble Tools & Celestial Tools are both well-made and highly configurable tool mods, in case you're sick of using gold tools for everything. You can customize them such that Marble is the ultimate durability tool but Glass is the ultimate work speed tool so they all have a niche and you don't totally invalidate gold tools.

Despite not being compatible with mods which add more to the worldgen like Heap of Foods/Uncompromising Mode, I've still had tons of fun with Odd Lands, the most flexible worldgen mod I've ever seen. I've always thought it was crazy how much space was wasted by water in an average DST world. This mod lets me make a world with NO inland water, just a big circular landmass. It lets me connect the lunar island to the mainland, rework how wormholes spawn, change how the ruins generate, adjust the scale of the ruins compared to the rest of the caves, TONS of things. Everything you ever wanted to customize and more.

So what are you guys running?

DST Looks like friends struggle a bit with bosses

• Upvotes

A little misleading I think, but essentially, a group of friends I play with seem to be struggling with fighting bosses or preparing for them. After a few successful runs, I decided that I would base alone (as WX-78) just so I wouldn’t have to deal with food shortages and not enough material at base. My friends use Willow, Wendy, and Wort. The Wendy player usually ends up helping the Willow stay sane, getting food, and spends a lot of time making potions. The Willow ends up staying at base protecting it (especially in summer) from potential fires, they also farm for Wort and chop trees that were planted around their base. The Wort usually goes to do their own thing trying to create a merm village and king to become stronger but the king usually dies before we even get to a boss.

They have their system but it takes them a long time to prepare for a boss, and when they are ready, some of them end up dying during the fight and if we are fighting the fuel weaver, everybody but me dies.

Ever since I decided to base alone, it’s been easy keeping my base stocked with materials, I only take from underground and trade with the pig king if I get any valuables from fishing. I create my own marble farm for create armor and make clockwork statues to then kill the for their gears.

The Wendy seems like they are great and can work alone but ends up carrying the Willow, and the Willow carries for the Wort.

I usually end up gathering all the materials needed to progress. I don’t have a problem with it, but I don’t want to carry them and then have them die at a big fight and not be able to enjoy it. I get tired of waiting but I try to help them out when I tell them they should fight something for better weapons and armor.

I think this has gone long enough, I’m just wondering if I should move to their base and help them out more or if I should just let them be and let them figure things out. The main problem is them not wanting to play during summer and winter which bums me out a little.

Edit: Wendy player rarely needs someone else to revive them because they always have a perennial alter ready. Willow dies the most because they aren’t very good at combat. Wort tries their best but pretty sure they die less than Willow (mostly because they don’t play as much as the others)

We’ve defeated: dragon fly, ancient guardian, antlion, bearger, bee queen, fuel weaver, deerclops, moose goose, crab king, treeguard, and spider queen.

They aren’t that bad, but one or all go down when fighting a boss (especially fuel weaver)

I try not to do things for them, if they have the materials for something or are missing one thing, I’ll help them get it.

Kinda feels like misfortune falls on me when I’m around Wort. A back up chassis was destroyed because they were on their phone when bearger came by. They threw stacks of water balloons at bee queen and me (did nothing to bee queen) and almost killed me (playing as WX-78)

General Why are we fixating on slop apps? Can we move on?

Guys, giving these apps attention is exactly what they want, they need to spread the game around as much as possible before tencent's laywers hit them with a cease and desist, by constantly posting about it you help the plagiarist,

Klei is probably never going to publically address it, most legal cases its better to not discuss it whatsoever, and we can safely predict itll be the same.

For the subreddit, why dont we post things about the game? Not about plagiarist? The best form of flattery is imitation afterall.

DST Wright v2.0 (Written version) requesting final feedback

Thank you everyone who gave me feedback on the original draft for Wright, my fan-made DST character. I have taken the character back to the drawing board and have reworked his kit to touch on all the points I was given. Requesting one last feedback so I can begin coding the character into the game :) One last note, all percentages listed aremultiplicative not additive with other sources at this time, until i can properly do test for balancing.

Wright, the Shrewd Notary

A fan-made character for Don't Starve Together

Patch Notes

  • Wright now gains Authority through his unique structures, which are unlocked via treaties. Authority gives him more power over his contracts as he takes part in taking down seasonal bosses.
  • To counter character swapping, Wright loses Authority whenever he swaps out thru the games built in character swapping mechanic. His unique structures also receive a "Cease and Desist Letter," making them inoperable while Wright is not in the Constant.
  • Wright entire skill tree has been adjusted, now offering many more options in order to give more paths and player choice when it comes to the character. His skill tree now features 20 skills, and includes new additional skill lines.
  • Wright's unique structures unlocked via treaties have been completely reworked. They now focus on minor buffs for all player followers while providing some sort of utility.
  • Wright's overall kit has been reworked to focus more on being able to upgrade via game progression through the seasons or participating in fights against giants.
  • Sanity management has been reworked
  • finally Marble pig houses has been updated, with a dedicated house type for every giant in the game.

Character Introduction

Meet Wright, the Shrewd Notary. A cynical, fast-talking Victorian legal clerk who views the Constant not as a terrifying wilderness, but as an unregulated market waiting for proper bureaucracy. Wright was pulled into the Constant by Wagstaff after being tricked into a shadow deal (talk about irony).

“Sign here, initial there, and mind the fine print.”

Unlike Maxwell (who controls shadows into servitude) or Wurt (who rallies a massive Merm population through loyalty and shared hatred), Wright treats Pigmen as strict economic assets. Instead of typically hiring them to gather resources or fight standard enemies, Wright uses highly specialized, non-overlapping Legal Contracts that turn Pigmen into localized logistics hubs, guards, and expert specialists.

Character Profile

Stat Value Flavor
Health 125 Soft-handed and unaccustomed to physical labor.
Sanity 200 Kept stable by the comforting rigidity of the legal code.
Hunger 150 Standard metabolic needs.
Voice Instrument Typewriter + Kazoo A dry, rhythmic typewriter clacking combined with a buzzy, sliding kazoo for speech inflections.

Advantages & Disadvantages

Advantages

  • Bureaucratic Immunity: Pigs never attack Wright, even if he wanders near them during a Full Moon (they are bound by an ongoing "non-aggression clause").
  • Notary Kit:(Updated mechanic, scaling Quills) Starts the game with 1x Quill (a unique handheld item that gives minor sanity to Wright.) Each Quill follows the same recipe as a feather pencil (1x twig, 1xcharcoal, and finally 1x feather of your choosing), each feather giving an increased sanity gain based off how late in the game it can be obtained.
Feather type Sanity gain
Jet Feather(starting quill) 1/min
Crimson Feather 1.5/min
Azure Feather 2/min
Saffron Feather 3/min
Down Feather 4/min
Malbatross Feather 5/min
  • Contract Negotiation: Access to a unique crafting tab called "Legalese." Using Papyrus, Gold, and specific secondary items, he can write binding contracts to change Pigman behavior or trade directly with the Pig King for forbidden resources.
  • Entrepreneur:(New mechanic)-crafted using one of his quills, 3x beefalo wool, 2x boards, and 1x gold, Wright can craft a briefcase, which functions as a tool slot. It has a unique mechanic to where opened, Wright can open it to access a 9 slot backpack space, but only able to deposit paper or contracts. In emergencies, it can also be used as a weapon (20dmg) however it's intended purpose is to give Wright a way to keep track of his contracts, paper to make them, and some notes that help guide players to learning his kit. It will also give sanity based off the quill used to craft it.

Disadvantages

  • Strictly Professional: Wright cannot recruit followers outside his contract negotiation mechanic.
  • Litigious Stress(Reworked to balance sanity management in a new way): Wright gains no sanity from any items, food, or other sources, besides the passive sanity given by Pig followers or his unique Quill. The range in which Wright loses sanity from monsters and giants is also increased by 1.5x
  • Merm Hostility: Wurt and her people absolutely despise him. Merms will target Wright with increased aggression, viewing him as the ultimate representative of Pig civilization.

The Contract System

New mechanic: Authority

Contracts are single-use items crafted in the Legalese Tab. To activate a Pig contract, Wright simply clicks it onto a neutral Pig. Gameplay-wise, it is activated similarly to putting a helmet or hat on them.

  • The Pig gains a neat little bureaucrat hat, stops wandering aimlessly, and performs their contracted role until the contract expires (typically 3 in-game days).
  • While the hat is worn, contracted pigs won't panic during dusk and continue to follow you normally.
  • Contracted pigs however cannot wear helmets for added protection.

Pig Contracts

Each contract has a base recipe and four "Authority" levels. Each level builds on the one before it.

HR Subordinate (The Guard)

Updated: shield reduced from 50% to 30%.

Base Recipe: 1x Papyrus + 3x Gold + 1x Spear

  • Authority Level 1 (Baseline): The Pig stays anchored to a 4x4 tile zone near the contract. Instead of kiting, they absorb 30% of incoming damage with a flashing legal barrier. They will attack all neutral mobs when their contract is on the ground or in a chest, hostile mobs that are nearby, or creatures that Wright attacks, except fellow pigs, players, their followers, and special pets such as Chester, Glommer, etc. Drops its inventory on the floor when killed or when the contract expires.
  • Authority Level 2: The Pig gains an internal 4-slot inventory. Instead of dropping its gathered spoils (like frog legs, silk, or monster meat) on the ground where they can rot or be eaten by wild animals, the Pig securely holds onto them.
  • Authority Level 3: The Subordinate's injunction shield increases from 30% to 50% damage absorption. Additionally, if the Subordinate is brought below 25% health, it enters a "Legal Recess," gaining 100% damage immunity for 5 seconds while it rapidly regenerates 50 HP (Cooldown: once per day during contract period).
  • Authority Level 4: When the Subordinate's internal inventory is full, it will briefly step away from its anchor point if needed, walk to the nearest structure that provides Authority increase, deposit its spoils into an adjacent chest, and immediately march back to its guard post. If an Audit Depot is built, it will deposit its items inside there instead.

Deed of Hauling (The Logistics Hub)

Base Recipe: 1x Papyrus + 3x Gold + 1x Rope

  • Authority Level 1 (Baseline): Follows Wright but never fights. Automatically sweeps up loose resources off the floor in a 2.5-tile radius and holds up to 6 unique stacks of items. Deposits them directly into chests when brought back to base if said item is already in a chest.
  • Authority Level 2: The Hauler's corporate pack expands, allowing it to hold up to 10 unique stacks of items. Its pickup radius increases to 4 tiles, allowing it to sweep clean large hound waves or tree farms effortlessly.
  • Authority Level 3: If a player or Wright drops an item due to a giant's weapon slam, frog licks, max wetness, or other means, the Hauler takes a 100% priority pathing override to snatch the tool or weapon off the ground instantly, running at +30% movement speed to return it directly to the player's hands.
  • Authority Level 4: The Hauler's proximity fills the player with economic confidence. While the Hauler is actively following Wright, all nearby other players gain a passive +5 Sanity/minute aura. Furthermore, the Hauler gains a small storage cart, allowing it to pick up 1 bulky objects (like Marble pieces or Suspicious Marble) at a time. If an Audit Depot is built, it can also carry Wright or another player instead.

Lease of Demolition (The Map-Targeted Clearer)

Base Recipe: 1x Papyrus + 3x Gold + 1x Gunpowder

  • Authority Level 1 (Baseline): Restricted to only one active Demolition Pig at a time. Wright pings an explored region on his map screen, and the Pig walks autonomously to that spot to chop, mine, and dig everything in a 5x5 tile radius. Once its inventory is completely full (8 backpack slots) or it finishes its task, it walks back to its contract copy location.
    • If the contract is in a chest, it deposits the items into that chest.
    • If the contract is in Wright's inventory, same thing.
    • If neither is available or chest is full, it drops the items on the ground.
  • Authority Level 2: The corporate payroll expands. Wright can now have up to two active Demolition Pigs working simultaneously on the map (either targeting the same zone for double the speed or split across two entirely different resource nodes).
  • Authority Level 3: Demolition Pigs carry heavy-duty corporate tools, allowing them to clear out rocks, trees, and stumps in half the time. Their internal inventory space also increases to 10 backpack slots, so they make fewer trips back to base.
  • Authority Level 4: The cap rises to three simultaneous Demolition assignment slots. Additionally, instead of walking all the way back to base when their inventories fill up, the Demolition Pigs are granted access to company packing supplies.
    • Once a pig fills its inventory, it pauses and wraps all its harvested items into a neat "Corporate Shipment" (functioning exactly like a standard Bundling Wrap).
    • The pig then attaches a small, clockwork corporate balloon to the bundle. The shipment floats into the air and is transported back to base (same speed as other map-travel mechanics like Walter's dog, WX's drone, etc.).
    • If an Audit Depot is built, the shipment is transported 30% faster.

Pig King Sovereign Treaties

Wright can stand before the Pig King and hand him heavy, high-tier treaties. Instead of coughing up gold, the Pig King fulfills his end of the legal bargain by giving Wright access to structures that increase his overall Authority.

These treaties are crafted using items dedicated to the four giants that only spawn during their respected season, plus Treeguards to help players learn the system. Said treaties crafting recipes are unlocked once the respected giant information is added to the players scrapbook. Each treaty is meant to be used once as you progress through the seasons to unlock its blueprint.

Treaty Boss / Season Cost Unique Structure
Land Reclamation Treeguard 1x Papyrus + 15x Gold + 5x Living Log Sovereign Well
Climate Deregulation Deerclops (Winter) 1x Papyrus + 15x Gold + 1x Deerclops Eyeball Golden Hearth
Seasonal Severance Goose (Spring) 1x Papyrus + 15x Gold + 1x Down Feather Bureaucratic Fan
Real Estate Stability Antlion (Summer) 1x Papyrus + 15x Gold + 1x Desert Stone Notary Escrow Vault
Supply-Chain Monopoly Bearger (Autumn) 1x Papyrus + 15x Gold + 1x Thick Fur Audit Depot

Treaty of Land Reclamation (Treeguard)

Updated: no longer gives ice when a cold thermal stone is placed inside.

  • Unique Structure, the Sovereign Well: The Pig King grants a Royal Blueprint for a Sovereign Well, which can hold watering cans. Watering cans are slowly refilled while inside.
  • Follower Utility, the Town Square: followers can drink from the well, gaining a +10% physical size and 15% damage reduction for the day.

Treaty of Climate Deregulation (Deerclops, Winter)

  • Unique Structure, the Golden Hearth: Functions as a multi-functional firepit. When fed wood items, it gives off heat; when fed stone items, it does the opposite.
  • Follower Utility, Overtime Clause: The Hearth emits a calming aura that pauses follower timers while it is lit in either way and the follower is nearby.

Treaty of Seasonal Severance (Goose, Spring)

  • Unique Structure, the Bureaucratic Fan: The fan spins rapidly when a seasonal boss or hound wave is approaching. Instead of a standard character voice line, it prints a physical "Subpoena Notice" on the ground and sounds alarms 30 seconds before the normal warning sounds begin.
  • Follower Utility, Safety Regulations: Spring rain makes weapons slick, giving players a chance to drop them. Thankfully, your followers learn from your mistakes. Inside the fan's moderate radius, followers gain +15% accuracy, making their hit range slightly bigger to avoid missing attacks.

Treaty of Real Estate Stability (Antlion, Summer)

Note: To trade with the Pig King during summer without desert friction, Wright can use this treaty.

  • Unique Structure, the Notary Escrow Vault: Players can load the vault with up to 10 building materials into the vaults two slots, dedicated to boards and cut stone. If an Antlion sinkhole, boss attack, or other source hits a player structure within its 4-tile radius, the structure takes 50% less damage, but the Vault instantly consumes 1 matching material from its inventory to "pay for the repairs." If the vault runs out of materials, the protection safely ends.
  • Follower Utility, Hazard Pay: Structures that spawn followers receive 20% less damage from all sources except from players or their followers.

Treaty of Supply-Chain Monopoly (Bearger, Autumn)

  • Unique Structure, the Audit Depot: When players use the Refined crafting tab while standing directly next to the Audit Depot, the crafting cost (like ropes, boards, and cut stone for example) is cut by 30%.
  • Follower Utility, the Standard Employment Contract: When players feed a Pig or Bunnyman a piece of food near the Depot, their loyalty gained from said food is increased by 30% more.
  • Wright-specific: For Wright, the Audit Depot functions as a beacon for all Pigmen under contract, helping keep them organized and giving one last minor buff.

Wright's Skill Tree

Updated to offer more skills and more options when it comes to playstyle.

Branch 1: The Fine Print (Contract Upgrades)

  • Notary Public: Extends the duration of all Pig contracts from 3 days to 5 days.
  • Clause of Indemnity: Pigs under your contract have their max health increased to 400.
  • Corporate Synergy: Contracted Pigs working within the same screen space buff each other's work speed and movement by 15% up to a cap of 50%
  • Subcontracted Labor: Wright can now make a new contract type with a pig (1x Papyrus + 3x Gold + 1x Meatball) that gives it the function of a normal pig follower, while keeping the benefits of Wrights kit.
  • Liability Shielding: All pigs under contracts gain access to the HR subordinate shield.

Branch 2: Capital Investment (Pig King Relations)

  • Monopoly: Unlocks a new exclusive Pig King trade, the Treaty of Fortification (1x Papyrus + 20x Gold + 3x Pig Skin), which is a structure that unlocks a new recipe tab for marble pig houses. Each house type is unlocked when Wright participates in the defeat of the respected Giant linked to the house. Each house is crafted with the same materials (4x boards, 4x marble, 4x pig skin), but can upgraded with specific giant drops to upgrade them into their respected forms.
  • Monopoly unlocks tier 1 houses
  • Dominance unlocks tier 2 houses
  • Corner unlocks tier 3 houses
  • Cartel unlocks tier 4 houses
  • Pigs from marble houses cannot be recruited, but offer some sort of utility for their location. Additionally they will be neutral to all players and their followers, and hostile to monster mobs excluding characters seen as monsters/their followers.

  • Follower Utility: The Marble Pig living inside becomes a Remedy Officer. During the night, it gains a more controlled Werepig form, gaining up to +50% damage and +20% speed, but again still only attacks hostile targets and stays loyal. damage and speed scale based off moon phase as it gets closer to a full moon.
  • "Pig made angry! Rrrr!"

Treaty of Maritime Law (Malbatross)

  • Upgrade: 1xDown Feather, 3x kelp
  • House Effect: The house has a unique mechanic where it can only be placed in the ocean, similar to how beached bull kelp are placed. Boats within its radius take reduced damage(40%) from waves and rough seas,
  • Follower Utility: The Marble Pig living inside becomes a Harbor Master. It will board boats that are damaged when it comes near, slowly repairing it.
  • "Boat here? Pig say okay."

Treaty of Maritime Monopoly (Crab King)

  • Upgrade: 1xPearl's Pearl (Cracked), 1 red gem, 1 blue gem
  • House Effect: The house is studded with gems and works as a small treasury. It offers one random red/blue gem every 3 days in exchange for 20 gold.
  • Follower Utility: The Marble Pig living inside becomes an Appraiser. It will accept items pig king takes in exchange for gold.

  • Follower Utility: The Marble Pig living inside becomes a Geologist. It follows you through caves and sinkholes without penalty, and unlike other pigs, can mine rocks.
  • "Dig here! Pig hole!"

Branch 3: Regulatory Compliance (Survival & Stress Management)

  • Corporate Wellness: Increases Wright's baseline Health from 125 to 175.
  • Liquid Liquidations: Wright can drink Goat Milk or eat Honey to immediately purge negative status effects (like grogginess, freezing, overheating, etc.), viewing them as "liquid assets."
  • Audit Immunity: Reduces both the sanity drain of monsters by 30%, and their range in which they drain sanity.
  • Loophole Discovery: gear or tools that activate a negative sanity aura will have their cost for use reduced by 10% for each contract you have established and active, up to 50%
  • Bankruptcy Protection: when Wright takes fatal damage and has gold in his inventory, he loses 1xgold for every 10hp damage he took, but will not perish.

Branch 4: Chain Of Command (Authority & Enforcement)

  1. Official Letterhead: Other players who are near Wright gain access to a version of Wrights HR Subordinate shield, gaining a 30HP health shield that regenerates 1hp every 5 seconds
  2. Power of Attorney: Wright can now make new types of contracts dedicated to other players. Making a contract with a player will last for 3 days, or until the player or Wright perish, whichever happens first. Wright can have up to three of these contracts active at once as long as their not duplicates, and all contracts come with a void clause that triggers if Wright fails to keep his end of the bargain. However while these contracts are active, Wright gains a unique buff from his own void clause. Those contracts are;
Contract Name Price Mechanic for other player Void Clause(Wright fails) Void Clause(Wright Succeeds)
Bodyguard Retainer 1x Papyrus + 5x Gold + 3x Pig Skin 25% of all physical trauma and health damage sustained by the Signee (the contracted player) shall be legally transferred to, and absorbed by, Wright. In the event of the Signee’s total cessation of life (death) during the term of this agreement, Wright shall immediately suffer a "Wrongful Death Claim" penalty, assessed as an instant emotional forfeiture of -40 Sanity. In consideration of Wright assuming the aforementioned physical and mental liabilities, all personal tools and weaponry equipped by Wright utilizing a standard durability metric shall receive a 25% extension on operational longevity.
Wellness Plan 1x Papyrus + 5x Gold + 3x Petals For the duration of proximity within a two-screen radius, the Signee shall continuously draw a mental dividend of +10 Sanity per minute. This dividend is directly subsidized by Wright, who shall incur a continuous processing fee of -5 Sanity per minute. Should the Signee’s mental state fall below the critical threshold required to manifest Hostile Shadow Entities, Wright shall immediately be subjected to a Systemic Regulatory Audit. For the duration of this breach, Wright’s Maximum Sanity capacity shall be strictly capped at 50%. Until said Entities are detained and removed. In recognition of Wright's high-risk mental portfolio, all corporate gear, tools, and offensive weaponry that naturally impose a psychological tax shall have their active Sanity drain mitigated by 40%.
Resource Commission 1x Papyrus + 5x Gold + 3x Flint The Signee’s metabolic rate shall be subsidized, resulting in a 25% reduction in standard Hunger depletion. In inverse consideration, Wright shall assume this metabolic deficit, causing his own Hunger to deplete at an accelerated rate of 25%. If the Signee’s metabolic reserves fall to a critical state (Starvation), Wright shall immediately tender an emergency refund of 5 Gold Nuggets to the Signee. Should Wright's liquid assets fail to cover this fee, he shall be found in default of contract, suffering an immediate 25% forfeiture of current Health. For every standard unit of excavation, logging, or agricultural extraction performed by the Signee (including chopping, mining, and digging), Wright retains a 20% Brokerage Right to automatically manifest an identical copy of said resource directly into his personal inventory.
Performance Bonus 1x Papyrus + 5x Gold + 3x paper This agreement strictly applies to Signees possessing signature corporate assets. The operational wear-and-tear or charge depletion of the Signee’s unique character-specific item shall be mitigated by 20%. In reciprocal compromise, Wright’s personal physical throughput and action execution speeds shall be decreased by 20%. Should the Signee’s proprietary asset drop to a critical threshold of 10% durability or lower, it shall trigger a structural cross-default. Consequently, all active independent sub-contracts currently held by Wright with local Porcine entities (Pigs) shall immediately forfeit 50% of their remaining operational duration. While this instrument remains active, every 5% decrement of durability or charge expended by the Signee’s proprietary asset shall yield a dividend, extending the legal duration of all active Porcine (Pigs) sub-contracts by an additional 1 minute.
Right of Entry 1x Papyrus + 5x Gold + 3x Beefalo Wool The Signee shall receive a structural 30% exemption from ambient Moisture accumulation (Wetness) and a concurrent 30% liability reduction against Thermal Damage incurred via extreme hypothermia (freezing) or hyperthermia (overheating). Conversely, Wright’s personal thermal conductivity shall be compromised, causing him to gain or lose internal temperature 15% faster based on seasonal volatility. Should the Signee suffer a critical compliance failure by reaching 100% Wetness or sustaining 20 points of direct Thermal Damage, Wright shall be cited for professional negligence. This regulatory blackmark shall trigger a statutory injunction, prohibiting Wright from drafting new multiplayer contracts for a duration of days exactly equal to the contract's remaining operational term. In consideration of these heavy liabilities, Wright reserves an absolute Right of Presence. Once per diurnal cycle (day), Wright may engage in a 3-second focused mediation (channeling) upon any active contract to immediately liquidate physical distance and teleport directly to the Signee's current coordinate.
  1. Restraining Order: Mobs that hit a contracted pigs, or other players under a contract are slowed by 30% for 5 seconds.
  2. Executive Order (Capstone):Characters whose kit revolves around followers gain access to new synergy when near Wright if he has any pig followers nearby:
Character Follower Joint synergy
Willow Bernie The Asbestos Insulation Treaty: While Bernie is giant, he radiates a literal physical warmth. Nearby Pigs absorb this heat, gaining fire-retardant hides (30% Fire Resistance) and +15% attack speed. Conversely, the Pigs fierce yelling stokes Bernie’s inner flame, restoring +2% durability for each pig per second to Bernie while he is actively fighting alongside them.
Wickerbottom Grumble Bees The Cross-Pollination Venture: Grumble Bees summoned via Apicultural Notes form a tactical convoy with Wright's Pigs. The bees provide a aerial distraction, granting Pigmen +20% evasion (dodge chance). Simultaneously, the aggressive flanking maneuvers of the Pigs empower the bees, increasing the Grumble Bees' flight speed by 25% and their honey-stinger strike damage by 20%.
WX-78 Clockworks The Automated Assembly Pipeline: If Wx-78 has clockwork followers nearby, they interface directly with Wright's network. The clockworks broadcast a biometric scan that gives Pigs+15 Planar Defense. In return, the Pigs manually grease and overclock the clockworks, increasing the speed in which clockworks attack and move by 20%.
Winona Catapults The Strategic Artillery Endorsement: Winona’s Catapults legally recognize Wright’s Pigs as authorized ground spotters. The Pigs deal +25% damage to any enemy recently hit by a catapult rock. In exchange, the Pigs aggressively guard the perimeter; for every strike a Pigman lands near a generator, the reload time of Winona's Catapults is accelerated by 15%.
Wendy Abigal The Spectral Indemnity Bond: Abigail's ghost aura grants ectoplasmic protection to the Pigs, while the Pigs' living presence anchors her to the mortal realm. Both Abigail and the hired Pigs gain a 15% physical damage reduction while fighting side-by-side.
Webber Spiders The Chitinous Silk Endorsement: Spiders and Pigs form a historical Non-Aggression Pact for the first time in history. Furthermore, Spiders gain dense pork-hide durability (+15% max HP), and Pigs receive silk-woven weapons, granting their attacks a 15% chance to trap targets in web sticky-zones.
Wurt Merms The Amphibious Conglomerate Merger: Normal tribal animosities are legally dissolved. When a hired Pig and a hired Merm target the exact same enemy, both entities deal 20% increased damage and gain a 10% health-regeneration factor per hit. (Merms still find Wright absolutely disgusting though)
Maxwell Shadow servents The Automation Overclock Pact: Maxwell’s Shadow Duelists/Workers and Wright's Pigs optimize their workflows. Both entities have their attack/work speed increased by 20%, and their coordinated strikes have a 10% chance to duplicate item drops.
Woodie Rocklobers, Pigs, Bunnymen, and treeguards The Cross-Training Initiative: Wright’s Pigs and Woodie's hired followers enter a shared labor pool. Both entities receive a 25% increase to movement speed and 25% faster resource harvesting (chopping/mining) while working within the same zone. If Woodie has Treeguards spawned from his unique idol instead however, Treeguards will target hostile mobs that pigs are attacking, while pigs keep the 25% movement bonus.
Walter Woby The Courier Escort Protocol: Woby is designated as a high-value corporate asset. While Wright’s Pigs are aggressively more defending. Woby feel's more confident near them, barking at hostile targets, vs her usual hiding or running away. Barks distorts enemy focus (slowing targets by 20%), and the Pigs deal 20% more damage to any target Woby has recently barked at.
Wormwood Plant minions The Eco-Industrial Mutual Growth: Wormwood’s unique botanical followers act as tactical camouflage for the Pigs. While a plant minion is active near a Pig, both entities gain a 20% dodge chance against incoming physical attacks and a 15% speed boost.

Affiliation Unlocks (Late-Game Boss Unlocks)

Shadow Bureaucracy (requires Ancient Fuelweaver defeat)

Wright learns to apply legal constraints to the terrifying forces of the Void.

  • Unlocks: The "Nightmare Liquidation Contract" (1x Papyrus + 5x Gold + 2x Pure Horror).
  • Effect: Applying this contract to a Pigman gives them shadow infused tattoos. They can teleport to Wright on both the surface and in the caves, and can safely harvest Nightmare Fuel directly from active rifts and fissure lines.
  • Aura: This pig is immune to shadow attacks. While these pigs are nearby, negative sanity mechanics are also reduced by 60%

Celestial Audit (requires Celestial Champion defeat)

Wright writes a binding cosmic code that forces the immutable laws of the sky to bend to mortal paperwork.

  • Unlocks: The "Edict of Luminescence" (1x Papyrus + 8x Gold + 2x Enlightened Shard). When presented to the Pig King, he gives Wright a celestial beacon, which can be attached to any Marble Pig House. Once attached, the resident Marble Pig gains Celestial infused tattoos.
  • Follower Utility: The pig will sheds bright, constant Gestalt light in a wide radius during night or in the dark, keeping Charlie away. Their house also provides light at night to keep away the darkness. Their attacks deal planar damage, and they are completely immune to Gestalt possession or attacks.
  • Base Utility: Moonstorms and Lunar Hail events completely bypass a 6x6 tile radius around this house, allowing players to build a safe, clear pocket of reality even during peak celestial anomalies.

That is everything on Wright, please let me know what you guys think when you have a chance :)

General What are your dumbest deaths?

I'll go first;

I was playing Shipwrecked when Volcano erupted and a meteor looking thingy fell next to my base. And 3 weird dudes came to outside from the meteor. I was really stacked and thought I could beat them but got one shotted lol. (Idk if it was really oneshot not gonna lie but I died shortly after as far as I remember it. Its been pretty long.)

This isnt really a death but it caused me to rage quit and delete the world so I'll tell it. After successfully Ruins rushing and collecting insane amount of stuff a meteor fell to my base (DST) and deleted my chest items. (I remember it getting deleted, or something else might happened that I am not aware of not gonna lie. Also if I remember correctly the meteor only fell to the chests lol.)

Help question Is my save bugged?

According to my calculations, it should still be mild season for another 5 days and Hurricane season should be next, not Dry. Is there some rare event or trap I don't know about that could cause the seasons to get out of whack?

Help question What's Don't Starve like?

From the little of it I've seen from the Terraria crossover, it seems like an interesting game, and I'd definitely want to try it, but what's the gameplay like?

Help question Help me get this obliterated from the App Store

This app is blatantly using Don’t Starve’s arts style and assets seemingly. I don’t know if this is the right place to post about this but the sooner this app doesn’t exist, the better. I also seem to be completely incapable of attaching images.

DST What's something you love in vanilla DST that most players dislike?

I have several but to name one... twiggy trees.

Goated solo. But even multiplayer they're only a struggle for the first season, but you can get a stack of twigs from tumbleweeds. After that you will never have twigs scarcity. I just plant them across high traffic routes (along roads, sink holes). Instant pickup instead of the delay with saplings. Or create a twiggy tree farm with a powder monkey, autograbber, wobot, winbot. Never needs to be fertilized. Doesn't wilt in summer. No deadly brightshades. W

DST improved the base a bit

This time the hounds and moon event hordes really get stuck by pathfinding :D and you can open the doors for other players when not.

Still can't find a perfect way to order the tools, it's always a mess.

DST Should mod authors be allowed to deliberately disable other installed mods without the player's consent instead of letting players decide what to use?

I'm one of the developers of Nine Equipment Slots, a mod for Don't Starve Together.

A lot has happened in the Chinese DST modding community over the past few days. I'm directly involved in this situation, so I want to be transparent about my position and explain what happened as accurately as possible.

I'd genuinely like to hear what players and other mod developers think.

How it started

On October 15, a player reported that Nine Equipment Slots might be incompatible with the Hollow Knight character mod, because they couldn't enter a server with both installed.

One of our developers, cmx, asked for logs and explicitly said that the problem might not be caused by Hollow Knight. At that point, we were treating this as a normal compatibility issue.

On October 16, Hollow Knight received an update at 12:44 PM (UTC+8).

Later that afternoon, another player reported that Nine Equipment Slots had stopped working properly when used with Hollow Knight. They could enter the game, but only the three original equipment slots remained.

We requested logs, checked the mod configuration, investigated the Workshop update history, and eventually inspected Hollow Knight's Lua code.

At approximately 4:52 PM, we discovered something unexpected.

What we found in Hollow Knight

The mod contained code that explicitly identified Nine Equipment Slots using its Steam Workshop ID:

3776018992

It then attempted to:

  • Remove our custom equipment slots from the global EQUIPSLOTS table.
  • Clear our registered post-initialization callbacks and associated data.
  • Remove registrations associated with our mod from action and RPC-related structures.
  • Identify and undo function hooks installed by Nine Equipment Slots.

These operations weren't merely displaying an incompatibility warning. They were actively modifying another installed mod's functionality.

The code also did not require an actual compatibility error or crash to occur before attempting these operations.

At 6:52 PM, Hollow Knight received another update that moved the disabling logic into a separate Lua file.

At 7:01 PM, we publicly warned players about what we had discovered on our own mod's Steam Workshop discussion page, explaining the relevant code and preserving the original files.

The Hollow Knight developer subsequently acknowledged that the code was intended to disable Nine Equipment Slots, while arguing that this was necessary to protect players' saves and preserve their own mod's functionality.

They also publicly stated that their personal unwillingness to support Nine Equipment Slots was related to comments made by one of our developers.

I'm not claiming Hollow Knight contains a virus or a Trojan. That is not what the code analysis establishes.

My question is much simpler:

If two mods are incompatible, why not warn players and let them decide which one to disable? Why deliberately remove another mod's equipment slots, callbacks and hooks?

Then other mods became involved

On October 16, Travel Diary of Another World announced that it would no longer support Nine Equipment Slots.

Our analysis of that mod indicated that it removed dedicated equipment-leveling support for several Nine Equipment Slots slots and added repeated incompatibility notifications. This is a different technical implementation from Hollow Knight's cleanup script.

Later that evening, Lovely Tallbird Family, another mod that players had previously used together with Nine Equipment Slots, was updated.

We found that it contained a nine_cleanup.lua script byte-for-byte identical to Hollow Knight's cleanup script.

Both files were 7,639 bytes and had the same SHA-256 hash:

16A4650DC7FA54148F18AC855FD6634D3259AF75F4BD4AA51DE326B376A15DB2

This does not prove that the developers secretly coordinated with each other. It does, however, demonstrate that the two mods distributed the same targeted disabling code.

The Lovely Tallbird Family developer also publicly attributed their decision not to support Nine Equipment Slots to the personal behavior of one of our developers.

What happened afterward

On October 17, I released a separate protection patch intended to restore Nine Equipment Slots functionality for players who wanted to use these mods together.

Subsequent updates introduced further changes to the compatibility-handling code. I have preserved historical mod archives so these changes can be compared.

I want to emphasize something: I don't believe other mod authors are obligated to support Nine Equipment Slots.

If a developer doesn't want to provide compatibility support, that's their decision.

But I believe there's an important difference between saying:

"This combination is unsupported. Please disable one of the mods."

And writing code that actively disables another mod's functionality for everyone who installs both.

The players who use Hollow Knight, Lovely Tallbird Family, or Travel Diary of Another World may also be Nine Equipment Slots users. They are not mutually exclusive groups.

When these modifications cause problems, those players may end up reporting issues to us, and we then have to spend additional development time investigating and restoring functionality.

A separate, more serious finding

While investigating Travel Diary of Another World, we also found code that checks specific players' Steam IDs and schedules calls to c_regenerateworld(), which requests a world reset.

I tested this behavior in an isolated test world by replacing one of the hardcoded Steam IDs with my own. The targeted message appeared, the world regenerated, and the behavior triggered again after I re-entered the newly generated world.

To be clear, this reproduction used a modified test copy with my own Steam ID. It demonstrates that the execution path can work, but it does not establish that the original listed players actually lost their saves.

I consider this a separate mod safety concern, and I'm preserving the original archives, modified test files, and recording for independent review.

Why I'm posting this

There have been personal arguments, accusations, and disagreements between members of the Chinese modding community. I am not claiming that everyone involved has behaved perfectly, including our own side.

But I don't think a mod developer's personal opinion of another developer should determine which unrelated mods players are allowed to use together.

I have preserved multiple historical versions of the affected mods, screenshots of the authors' statements, relevant source-code comparisons, and test recordings.

I welcome technical criticism of Nine Equipment Slots, including reproducible bugs and legitimate compatibility problems.

What I want to discuss is the approach taken to handle those problems.

Should mod developers actively disable other installed mods because they disagree with their developers? Or should players be informed of the conflict and allowed to make that choice themselves?

I'm interested in hearing other players' and developers' perspectives. Please keep the discussion about the code and its effects on players, rather than harassing anyone involved.

Help question Probably way too frequent of a question but might as well

Hi! I’m a new player to Don’t Starve (Alone) and was wondering if there were any good spoiler free guides just to help get me going. I’m bad at survival games and the help would be very appreciated!
