Gaming I fucking hate Hogwarts Legacy
A year ago i bought Hogwarts Legacy for like 8 dollars and it fucking stinks, i got 10 hours on it and im still being railroaded and all the character faces look like roadkill. I genuinely believe that game was conceived to actively hurt you (though i am trans so maybe its on purpose), i fell asleep for 4 hours two separate times while playing it and woke up at 3AM with sweat all over me because i was having a nightmare. Probably the second worst thing JK Rowling's done

It more or less is tho genuinely I think the game might give you a nigh-completely free flight a tad too early as the moment you get a broom you immediately realize that open world isn't actually all that big and with the vast majority of the map just being fields with random puzzles littered around without much rhyme or reason, isn't all that interesting either

Im not OP but i do have the platinum thropy so i will also say it
The world except hogwarts and hogmeat(the stupid town dont know the english name) is pretty boring.
The World itself is empty and everything you can do gets repeated like 100 times.
The armor upgrading system is useless because you will find always something better in the next chest you open.
There are more things but these describe it very well

The later areas of the world are crazy barebones/repetitive, but I did very much enjoy exploring hogwarts and found the whole castle positively enchanting.
If the game had focused more on the school, the classes, and learning to be a wizard and dropped the goblin stuff in favour of just unravelling the mystery of the ancient magic, it would be a substantial improvement imo.
The room of requirement was also a huge success for me. Collecting creatures and creating a few sanctuaries was really cosy. The slytherin storyline with Gaunt and the other fella was also quite compelling.
Overall it struck me as the type of game a novice team would make, and I would anticipate the next game that team makes as a lot of the issues with the game are quite fixable. At the same time though I wouldn't buy a sequel or somesuch without giving it a little scrutiny, as it would be fairly clear whether it has those same problems or not.

Not everything was bad. Its just more so that they had a huge ip to cover and the game was lackluster.
The game itself is okay at best. You can find joy in it but its also not a game i would play again...

I never played the game so I have no clue what the game involves. It's one to thing to hate it because of the actual game itself and it's another to hate it because of JKR.

Super over the top rundown because I played it a while ago and didn't finish it.
Basically you are a late student to Hogwarts (it isn't explained immediately why are you so late and who are your parents) and you can see and interact with ancient magic which is supposedly different from regular old magic.
The game itself sees you fight against a goblin? (Forgot if that's the term for the dobbir creatures) insurrection led by a tyrant and a group of evil wizards while also juggling school and social interactions

Gotta say exploration is fun and ypu can do some stuff with the combat, but itās definitely not challenging, you can just immediately fly to higher leveled enemy camps and steamroll them with your fifthgrade mc.
The story is bland as shit and the voiceacting was incredibly ass (in german). The writing is infuriating. Every character is you biggest fan. You constantly are in an echochamber of being told how great you are, wich is in contrast to you character actually being the most nothing burger no personality uninteresting piece of shit.
I wouldnāt have played this game if I hadnāt gotten it free on epic and I dropped it after 10 hours or so, had the fun to be had but couldnāt care anymore.

It certainly doesn't have the best graphics, but I don't know why they're saying the characters look awful. This post reads more like someone that's just fabricating reasons to hate anything remotely related to Rowling.
I didn't even like like the game enough to finish it, but it's not that bad.

This post gives me so many questions but at the end of the day, if this game isnāt for you, then Iām sorry you paid for it, but you should focus on doing things you genuinely enjoy. I hope maybe someday if you revisit the game, you can find enjoyment in it, but if itās not for you itās not for you and I can respect that. I would really like to know though, how does being trans make this feel like itās designed to hurt you? Iām not trans myself so I donāt understand how you would feel actively hurt by the game, but I would really like to see this from your perspective so I can understand better.

No need to apologize, and I agree with you that JK is transphobic, but to my knowledge, she herself had nothing to do with this game other than making money off the creation of the Harry Potter universe. What Iām getting at is, Iād really like to understand what specifically about the game makes you feel hurt and or attacked. I recommended this game to a trans friend of mine, and I want to make sure Iām not exposing them to something that could hurt them if they decide to play it.

Itās a decent āUbisoftā like game with a Harry Potter skin. Itās cute and has a unique charm, and if youāre a Harry Potter fan youāll love it because they did a great job building the world.

10 hours in and youāre getting railroaded? I just got it a few days ago and have been doing tons of side quests and walking around. Last thing I did was sneaking into the restricted section of the library with Sebastian, so I donāt know how far I am overall, but thereās a ton of little puzzles and secrets and things all over the place. It very much seems like the kind of game where you want to stop and smell the roses to get the most out of it, since so many NPCs and things you can interact with have very little tell without either the minimap or revelio respectively

JK Rowling had very little involvement in the games production.
The game itself is actually as inclusive as it could be without having JK bring the hammer down.
The game itself is very average that's true but it isn't a horrible game and the graphics for the world itself is pretty good.
It's a cross gen game so where you play it matters a lot. The characters arent perfect graphics wise but the real culprits are old gen and switch versions.
I like the Harry Potter books and Hogwarts legacy is the best look world we have to explore the world. Mechanics and gameplay aside.

It's fine to like it. I assume you're an old Harry Potter fan, because exploring the castle and Hogsmeade is pretty awesome.
It isn't a great game though, the main story is pretty weak, the map is pointlessly massive and empty, overall it felt like a ten year old game at release. I still completed it, so wasn't that bad.

That's why PC versions of HP games (done by stinky EA back when they weren't so stinky) is much better, especially first 3 games. I don't play them anymore but it sounds like they're miles better than Hogwarts Legacy despite them being out in 2000s

Don't let people tell you otherwise. This game DOES stink. There is maybe a decent puzzle wich is the images one but the Merlin puzzles are the equivalent of putting a triangle brick into a triangle shape. Non ironically equivalent to Naruto fillerĀ
Nitpick but i remember the wizard town where you buy your potions you can't land there by your flying staff(esl sorry) it had an invisible wall. Goddamm it was such an easy w
Also the villain sucks, he has a really corny line where he explains why he made the slytherin kid sister mute and it took me out.
Also bugs, had the dragon boss fight bugged and it got stuck.
It's not a incompetent game and the first hour is cool for the Hogwarts fantasy but after that it's triple A slop. 3-4/10 for me, competent game done by an uncreative studio

I was actually excited for Hogwarts Legacy bc I loved the PS2 Harry Potter games as a kid and I thought it looked fun from the pre-release trailersā¦ however itās so buns omg. Iāve never been so bored. Like to each their own, but Iād neverrr recommend this game. š

What are you talking about ? Hogwarts is incredibile in all the details, not everything need to be interactable and the combat is subjective, not hard, but i loved it. And you have a whole editable area with furniture, rooms and even a fucking zoo.
The game is not perfect and have flash, like the writing and the difficulty, but lets stop pretend that everything is extremely good or extremely bad, this is decent and can subjectiveli can be liked or disliked.
