Question Anyone make it to 27 and never dated?

Low libido, short, ginger, not rich, live with a parent, mental health issues, don't drive anymore. The list goes on with me. But yeah, I'm 27 and have never really dated. At least not in my own country that is, albeit briefly when I was 21.

I just don't want to have to sit across the table from someone and try to impress them. It's never been something I've wanted to do. I'm a boring guy anyway, so I'd probably have to put on an act like I'm someone else, which isn't in me to do. Not many women in my town would want a guy that is like me, because I don't say much.

Anyway, how old are you guys? And why have you not dated?

38 female and never dated

15

u/Skyyg May 09 '26 edited May 10 '26

Almost 37 here and never as well. When younger I would get relly depressed about, now I feel at peace. Head is clearer without hormones. Might not ever date lmao.

u/ThinkHighway7078 May 10 '26

Ugh who needs the headache?!

2

u/goldenrodddd May 10 '26

38F also, although I had a boyfriend in middle school (and a girlfriend for a week in college) but idk if that really counts as having dated...

After the boyfriend, I was never really interested in dating again. Seems silly since I was so young but it left a big impression on me at that age, I think. Now I just look at the people in relationships around me and...I'm good lmao.

Wow. A female at 38 that's never dated. How come? Just not interested?

208

u/HikingFun4 May 08 '26

Why does it make a difference that a female hasn't dated vs a male? I don't see the need for a distinction?

25

u/Actual_Parsnip4707 May 08 '26

It's generally easier for a female to find a date than a male

2

u/Steelizard May 09 '26

I hate how people keep trying to pretend there's no difference between a man and a woman

I’m attractive and I get approached often. I just haven’t found the right guy. I’ve had situationships just never anything serious. TBH I have no interest in going on random dates with strangers.

6

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

That's fair enough🙂

12

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

27 gang rise up. How come you've never dated?

28

u/maurice_thm May 08 '26

Hm.. I guess life just happens. I can tell you the story if you want but it's a little sad haha. I olan on starting dating soon anyways.

I've always had social anxiety but at least I go to CBT now to work on it. As a teenager I did go to clubs and drank and made out with random guys. But that stopped when i went to university and kind of isolated myself because I was addicted to my phone and was depressed for a few years.

Then I took an antidepressant and that completely killed my libido. But I stopped taking it and had to deal with low libido for quite some time even after not taking the medication any more. I'd say it's much better now than it was back then.

Now I was busy with my education like I really didn't have a lot of free time. But I will be done soon with my studies so I can start dating and also making more friendships :)

What about you? Have you ever thought about moving to a bigger city to find more people your age to date?

15

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

That's not sad. The right guy will understand everything you've just said there.

As for me, well... ok this is sad. My mother was abused by her ex boyfriend infront of me when I was in my teens, almost killed one time. My Dad, at the time, was in prison for something he'd done, so he couldn't have been there to stop it from happening. So, I think that ruined anything related to "love" for me from a young age.

I've always had pretty much a non-existent libido. I have to start Testosterone injections soon, but I'm not sure if I ever want to have a libido, because I don't want to be sociable and do what guys do when they have a high sex drive, so I might just not start the treatment.

Anyway, I come from a really small town in the UK anyway, so even if I woke up tomorrow and said "I want to date now", there's nothing I can actually do about it. There are hardly any women my age here. I can't even remember the last time I saw a woman even close to my age.

I don't drink anymore, but I sometimes go to the Wetherspoons. It's just full of old people and teenagers.

I don't know, maybe I just need to get on Testosterone injections, move to a different country, and expose myself to what's out there in the world. I lost my virginity in a well known country, so maybe it's my calling to try to live out there.

9

u/maurice_thm May 08 '26

Damn okay physical abuse is so horrible. It must have been so hard for your mom but also you... How is she now?

I find that interesting that some people have naturally low libido. And did a doctor tell you that you should take testosterone?

But why do you say you can't do anything about it? You can move somewhere else if you save up money - I know it's easier said than done. But if you already don't like the place you probably wont beome happy there. or I guess travel like you said. You shouln't have to stay in the same place until you die.

I guess you're right. A good guy would understand my situation. :)

11

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

She's ok now. Very recently settled down with the love of her life actually, so I'm happy for her.

Yeah, well the weird thing is I never even thought about it when I was in my early 20's. Just kind of lived with it and thought nothing of it. Didn't even really know what a libido was because no one in my day to day life talks about that kind of stuff.

Not technically a doctor, because the NHS are useless with stuff like this. A men's clinic. I've gone over my biomarkers and my Free Testosterone level is way below what it should be for a 27 year old guy, so I might see how different I feel on it.

I do plan on getting away from here possibly at the end of August. I'm going to see what I can do with setting up an online business between now and then, and then I'll see what happens.

Definitely. If I met someone and they said everything you said, I wouldn't think "Oh, that's sad". I'd probably think "Well, that's life for a lot of us. Anyway..."😅

1

u/KennyFulgencio May 09 '26

I've always had pretty much a non-existent libido. I have to start Testosterone injections soon

FYI, effects on libido are supposed to take several months to show up (I have absolutely no idea why that's the case) so don't be too impatient. At least you're getting injections, which are supposed to be much more effective than the gel.

1

u/FewPassage5274 May 09 '26

Not necessarily. Libido is often one of the things that improves the quickest on TRT. Sometimes even in the first couple of weeks. It really just depends on dosage, how well you respond to treatment, the type of Testosterone you're on, and your other levels too (Estrogen, Testosterone, etc.).

1

u/KennyFulgencio May 09 '26

https://www.edenclinic.co.uk/post/how-long-does-it-take-for-trt-to-do-its-thing

One study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine investigated the timeline for changes in sexual function with TRT. The study included 130 men with low testosterone who were treated with TRT for 6 months. The results showed that improvements in sexual function were seen as early as 3 months after starting TRT, with further improvements seen at 6 months.

And for whatever one anecdote is worth, I made it to 3 months before insurance problems cut me off, and felt no effect. It was the gel though.

1

u/FewPassage5274 May 09 '26

Generally, 6 months in, you'll feel the full benefits. A lot of people see improvements in libido much quicker than 3 months, going by comments I've seen on here. It really just depends on the person.

Injections are definitely better than the gel.

1

u/MostMirror May 08 '26

Has CBT helped with social anxiety?

2

u/maurice_thm May 10 '26

sorry for the late answer but I have only had two appointments yet. But I'm hopeful because I have heard that cbt is really effective :)

94

u/Definitely_A_Bee May 08 '26

42 and never dated. 😭

16

u/AsadaSobeit May 08 '26

Hey! Tell us your story.

12

u/Definitely_A_Bee May 09 '26

I’m extremely ugly and socially awkward so I’ve never had any guys show interest in me. I tried dating sites but never got any matches. Once I posted my pic in r/amiugly and people agreed that I was below average and “unfortunate looking”. 😭 I’m not even that overweight. I just have a bad combination of genes.

1

u/Steelizard May 09 '26

That sucks, but appearance doesn't really matter if you find the right person

0

u/goldenrodddd May 10 '26

Have you ever tried working on improving your social skills?

imho I'm getting uglier as time goes on so I feel for you. There's only so much you can do to improve your looks, unless you have boatloads of money for plastic surgery etc.

But I hope you know you have value and you're deserving of love no matter how you look.

8

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

Yeah, she seems down about it. I'd be interested to know too.

48

u/ordinaryme99 May 08 '26

I dated briefly before 27 and it was more to be like everybody else than something I really wanted. It didn't go well, so I then decided to just be myself.

3

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

How old are you now?

7

u/ordinaryme99 May 08 '26

Mid 30s.

7

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

I'll be you for sure. That's if I stay in my town. If I stay in my town, I'll most likely be alone forever, which sounds morbid, but I don't really mind it.

23

u/AntiqueLetter9875 May 08 '26

I was 25/26F, also ginger before I dated anyone. Since you’re asking others the same questions

I’m 36 now

There was no particular reason I waited. In school I had other priorities, education at the time was a way out of poverty so I focused on that mostly.
Guys didn’t ask me out and being introverted and more shy at the time, I didn’t approach guys. One night stands or FWB didn’t appeal to me, so I didn’t do those. Online dating as an app had only just come out and was mainly a hookup thing, not a dating thing.

Guys can be picky about relationships too, this idea that women have all these options is a little false. Dating sites used to release their data and what it meant, women tended to be picky about initial matches, but would message men they matched with. Men were matching more often, but when women would message, and they saw who it was, they’d not respond if they weren’t attracted to them. Unless they just wanted sex.

3

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

That's fair enough🙂

Also, that's a fair analysis on dating sites.

17

u/FakeBeigeNails May 08 '26

Yeah, I've dated, but I haven't had sex (just turned 28). I've had sooooo many clear-cut "this guy wants to fuck me" moments in my life, but I've never had that spark where I thought "I want to fuck him, too". So, it's never happened.

3

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

You'll meet him one day😀

5

u/FakeBeigeNails May 09 '26

I hope you do too! I’m the same way. I feel like going on a date feels more like a job interview than a “getting to know each other” thing. Like I say 1 wrong thing and I don’t get the job ts. It’s exhausting.

3

u/MautDota3 May 09 '26

That just means you haven't found the person you are comparable with yet. I was the exact same way, I was always nervous going on dates and it felt like I was pretending half the time to be someone else. On my first date with my wife, she opened the door to get into my car and the first thing I saw was her Sailor Moon jacket, I immediately said "oh, you're a nerd too! This will be great!". She laughed and it became clear that she was more nervous then I was which made me relax and we just hit it off immediately. I felt really comfortable talking with them and we got married 3 years later. When you meet the right person, you'll know.

1

u/HP_Fusion May 12 '26

Helloo 👋 28 also 🤣

12

u/RProgrammerMan May 08 '26

Ive dated plenty but Im in my 30s and a virgin

7

u/MautDota3 May 09 '26

I was single until 30. Found a therapist and got onto Hinge and met the right girl and we are still together. If you are worried, don't be, it'll happen. If you aren't worried, then keep on keeping on!

5

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

Nothing wrong with that. At least you've made an effort to date.

3

u/awkwd_abbrv May 09 '26

Same, sort of

25

u/Glittering-Ad-1626 May 08 '26

I’m 27. I went on my first date a few months ago and I didn’t like it. I feel bad, he was a nice guy and was really committed to trying to make me happy but I couldn’t help still wanting space.

Everyone can say “just tell him and he should understand” but like…they don’t get it, I really couldn’t stand meeting up with him 24/7. And when he left it felt relaxing and I didn’t even wanna go back. I liked it when we’re friends and there wasn’t a lot of pressure hanging out or even touching.

I guess I’m not mature enough to date cuz I still don’t get it

14

u/LouTotally May 08 '26

I dont think its a matter of maturity, you just like your space

4

u/Glittering-Ad-1626 May 08 '26

I guess I only say because back when I was trying to decide and talked about my feelings over on the dating subreddit, I had a few comments saying stuff like “omg this can’t be real. Grow tf up and just admit you don’t like him.”

2

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

I feel like this would be my problem too. I'm just not mature enough to date.

10

u/Amshard_03 May 08 '26

I'm 23, with 0 social skills. And every time i try i do feel like a clown.

1

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

You're still very young. I wish I could go back to 23.

That's very true.

2

u/awkwd_abbrv May 09 '26

Yess. This is how I feel too but it’s hard to find people who relate

7

u/The_Adman May 08 '26

You don't have to impress them, you're there to chat to see if there is chemistry. You're trying to figure out if you want to be with them as much as they are you. Most people are boring, social media just makes it look otherwise.

2

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

I agree. I guess what I probably mean is that I'm just not all that interested in sitting across the table from someone and trying to convince them to want to be with me. I know that's a very normal thing to do for most people, but it's never really been something I've wanted to do. Maybe I have Autism.

my height (5’6”)

It absolutely ruins your chance with dating sites. In real life the prejudice still exists but isn't as bad. And anecdotally, my first year in college, in the dorms, one of the guys next door was 5'6" and more sexually active than anyone I was aware of in that dorm.

He was completely confident, and charismatic, which helps a ton, and seems to me to be more of an innate characteristic than something you can just choose to do. Although, a lot of people in early adulthood are able to force themselves to be outgoing in spite of introversion, if they're desperate enough. I did for a while, and the stress of constantly masking made it hell, but at least I now know how it would go and that I did it.

Lol, I just remembered, next door guy's name was literally Chad. Cool guy.

1

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26 edited May 08 '26

I know a 27M visiting Paris from the US soon. Maybe you guys could link up? I just got talking to him on here. Never met him before. He's also the same as us (Introverted, short, not much experience). I don't know, completely up to you man.

0

u/MadOli8al May 09 '26

Damn if 5'6 is short I'm completely cooked at 5'3

6

u/owls_exist May 08 '26

im a woman i made it to 26 without dating or ever having had a bf. I'm 33 now, tried dating between the ages now back to not dating.

2

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

Actually seems quite common for women to get to that kind of age and to have never dated. I see a lot of comments, not just on the Introvert sub, but in general on posts to do with dating or YouTube videos.

6

u/lulupaoo May 09 '26

28 female, and never dated. I think it's a personal problem for me lol like girll, I need to stop being negative smh.

1

u/FewPassage5274 May 09 '26

I'm the guy version of you😆

1

u/lulupaoo May 12 '26

Frr 😭

1

u/Altruistic-Patient-8 May 10 '26

Negative how?

2

u/lulupaoo May 12 '26

I feel like I probably overthink when a guy asks for my number. Like I think the worst and in turn sabotage my own “what if?”. Like he could’ve genuinely be interesting in knowing me but since I most likely have to confidence in myself or start thinking about other things, I don’t give them a chance. So I’m negative af 😪

1

u/Altruistic-Patient-8 May 12 '26

Yeah, I have self doubt problems, too.

1

u/lulupaoo May 13 '26

Damn, twin 🙂‍↕️

5

u/ImStupidPhobic INTJ 😶 May 08 '26

I’m turning 38 in September and I’ve dated, but I’ve never had a relationship. Dating is exhausting and I need lots of space and time to myself. That isn’t going to work with 9 out of 10 people unless you luckily find another introvert that seeks the same. My heart is in a good place, but I have self awareness that I wouldn’t be the best partner. I don’t call and I’d rather not text back and forth all day. It gets kinda annoying lol. I’d rather not deprive someone because they’re fully committed and I’m half-assing the entire situation 😅

1

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

All very relatable🤣

5

u/User123466789012 May 09 '26

I'm 32 and the desire just isn't there, my life is also pretty awesome so adding someone into it is not appealing in any way. I'm not sure introvert is strong enough of a word, which is funny because of my people based career & how talkative I am in any scenario. I just cannot deal with people more than 8 hours a day, and I have no desire to be the source of someone else's fulfillment.

I'm at an age where I still get guys hitting on me and assuming that single = open for dating. That's normal, except for some reason, "not interested" still is not enough of an answer. I've started lying and saying I have a boyfriend just to nip it. Ain't worth the hassle.

1

u/ThinkHighway7078 May 09 '26

Have you ever been in a relationship? I’m 38 and same

1

u/User123466789012 May 09 '26

Negative, I don't have the tolerance for it to even get that far. I've given it a fair shot by at least trying to be open to the idea, but I can't deal with someone constantly talking to me for more than 3 days. Learned that with someone I had everything in common with lol — the amount of attention you obviously give a partner is not something I can or am willing to give. I essentially wouldn't make a good partner because I have no desire to be someone's partner.

4

u/InviteAromatic6124 May 08 '26

Not quite 27 but I didn't date until I was 25, mainly due to social anxiety and low confidence

1

u/TheBenevolentTitan May 09 '26

How did you meet your partner then? How did you finally approach?

2

u/InviteAromatic6124 May 09 '26

We met online, the only way I've ever been able to date.

0

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

I suffered a lot from both when I was in my early 20's. Low confidence at times, I guess, but mainly other factors.

How old are you now?

2

u/InviteAromatic6124 May 08 '26

35, and I have a partner whom I've been with for almost 6 years.

5

u/KittKatKat May 08 '26

26, same.

3

u/swearzy1 May 08 '26

33m never dated, still a virgin. Terrible childhood, 11 years of custody battles and just witnessing how terrible and vindictive people can be. I never wanted even a 0.01% chance of that ever happening to me or potential children so I stay the course of peace alone

1

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

That's understandable. I think people's childhood really shapes the trajectory of their life.

3

u/Alarming_duck777 May 08 '26

Yeah, I've made it to 31.I'll be 32 in september i've never dated never been in a relationship nothing

1

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

How do you feel about that?

1

u/Alarming_duck777 May 09 '26

I really didn't care about it when I was younger. Never really liked to being around people in general, and I was always big guy, dealt with depression and anxiety for a good portion of my adult life, dec 2025 i started working on my health and losing weight because eventually I would like to attempt dating i hate being alone ,but I don't like being around a lot of people. It doesn't make sense to me lol

2

u/awkwd_abbrv May 09 '26

Mood. There’s very few people I feel comfortable around, but I hate being alone

3

u/esketit2point0 May 08 '26

28M here never really dated, i had maybe 3 relationships but i wouldnt really “count” them. Idk i just want to find someone that im really comfortable with. Also i struggle with self esteem issues STILL

3

u/Adrestia_x May 09 '26

27 as well and never dated! It’s not like I don’t want to, I just find dating apps and the like tedious. And thinking about having to get to know someone from scratch and going through the initial talking stage feels like such a chore. I’m also just too comfortable having time to myself to do whatever I please, and I’m happy enough just spending time with my friends every now and then and playing my games lol. Though ngl it makes me feel like such a loser haha

3

u/chowderpup May 09 '26

8

Im 22 years old and never dated due to not being interested, being objectively ugly and waste of genetics, deep isolation and bullying

3

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

I'm you in 5 years time. My advice would be to hit the gym. I wish I would have done that when I was your age. Just do it for yourself and not women. You'll get a confidence boost at least.

2

u/Outside_Magician_780 May 08 '26

Thanks man. You are also young, you have ability to turn your life

3

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

Definitely. Luckily, I don't feel a day over 22. Still look the same too.

5

u/Lucky-Finish7331 May 08 '26

I am 27 never had a real serious relationships all the dates i got were from dating apps and i feel like they are fake and not genuine. But i am aware I am attractive I imagine if i want it wouldnt be the same for me

1

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

At least you have confidence🙂

1

u/Lucky-Finish7331 May 08 '26

I wish lol . i just know it but still dont use it to my advantage its not about looks only saw worser looking do much better than me . i lost my virginity really late and got my gf really late . we are both introverts and i was just lucky both times women kinda did the first move...

It's never too late man.

2

u/NoodleDoodlesocks May 08 '26

40 and never really dated.

Didn't really take care of myself when I was younger and now I am just trying to get my life on track.

1

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

What do you wish you would have done differently, in terms of taking care of yourself, when you were younger?

3

u/NoodleDoodlesocks May 08 '26

Nothing, really. Serves me no benefit to dwell on things that can't be changed.

2

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

That's a good mindset to have. Also, having that mindset is the key to getting your life back on track. All the best🙏

1

u/KennyFulgencio May 09 '26

been more diligent about taking care of my teeth... found a way to get therapy and meds, although it would have been very difficult in that time and place. Also would have cut off my extremely toxic parents as much was practically possible under the circumstances.

1

u/FewPassage5274 May 09 '26

If you're 40 as well, you have time to turn your life around.

1

u/KennyFulgencio May 09 '26

I mean, I'm doing all of those things now and have been for a while, but some of the damage is irreversible, as well as lost opportunities which are no longer a possibility. I'm not including things which can be fixed now in my regrets.

1

u/FewPassage5274 May 09 '26

That's great. Wish you all the best man.

2

u/Drunk_Lemon I need my liquid confidence May 09 '26

26m and while i dated once in middle school its been nothing since. Just countless bungled opportunities.

2

u/JazzyRedHood May 09 '26

Similar situation, almost 27, live at home, also ginger

2

u/GentleObsession May 09 '26

I'm in my late 30s and have yet to date. I've kissed two people but that was when I was a teen. I'm a lesbian and have only met a few bisexual women that I am friends with but not interested in romantically. I recently started to try dating apps and it's been a bit of a waste. Many never message and others can't keep a conversation going or only know how to talk about themselves. Also I am not attracted to many people so I swipe left a lot so the options are very thin.

2

u/Geminii27 May 09 '26

I never dated; I just went straight to relationships. :)

I was 30 before I had my first relationship. I sort of tried dating before that and I certainly wanted a relationship but I didnt need to rush or anything. Eventually, I had some mental health issues that I worked on and finally felt like I wanted to share my life with someone and after 3 dates of random people, I found the right person on the 4th.

u/Sleepless-Factory May 09 '26

I'm old. And haven't dated for twenty years. The dating pool is just not appealing at all.

2

u/Devoidoxatom May 09 '26

28 loll. And its not even like im unnoticeable or smth. Genuinely had multiple girls openly crushing on me throughout my schooling. But ofc my social anxiety prevented me from acting.

And i've become too introverted now, which means i barely interact with anyone besides my family or my few friends (all guys). Im not at all bothered (besides idk societal expectations maybe but fk that)

2

u/MrsCognac May 09 '26

29f, dated once 15 years ago for a few weeks, but that's it.

2

u/Crystal_Lily May 09 '26
  1. I don't go out much.

2

u/Firedriver666 May 09 '26

26 and never dated I'm enjoying living alone and I have trust issues with people anyway gaining my trust takes a few years but that time is getting reduced over time

2

u/foggiesthead May 09 '26

35 and have also been married. Now over 60 I am happily single and avoid other people except at work.

2

u/Mountain-Bee-2388 May 10 '26

35m dated once in high school one date. It was nice, know im ready to settle down.

4

u/Ok-Lettuce7254 May 08 '26

I didn’t date anyone until I was age 27, who is now my husband. He actually was my first kiss, and well…he’s really my first “everything”. Before meeting him, it was really rare for me to be interested in someone. When I was interested in someone and tried to shoot my shot, it wasn’t reciprocated. I really questioned if something was wrong with me or if i was asexual? But, I was just so focused on working and going to school that I didn’t make any time for dating.

1

u/FewPassage5274 May 08 '26

How did you guys meet?

I've questioned if I'm Asexual too. I don't think I am. I just think I don't see many attractive women where I live and I'm not exposed to feeling attraction.

2

u/TheBenevolentTitan May 09 '26

Yeah it's an introvert thing. I guess our entire introverted sub-species will be mostly extinct this coming generation as probably many of us would end up without a compatible partner.

1

u/Devoidoxatom May 09 '26

Lol i wonder. Modern tech basically allowed for introverts to live comfortably as they like (before, being a loner made it almost impossible to survive, without help from the tribe). Would future people become mostly extroverts then?

1

u/TheBenevolentTitan May 09 '26

Would future people become mostly extroverts then?

I guess so. Introversion is mostly genetic from what I've seen, some similar traits need to be there in the family for it to become fully functional in some offspring. With our bloodlines coming to an end, I guess we should see less of us.

Gods, this sub is depressing AF.

How old are you now?

True.

~40. It's an epic tale starting way back in 1st grade where I had to stand up during show & tell and announce that this annoying kid whom I hated & would not leave me alone was not my boyfriend, despite what he was saying.

Cue: being borderline sexually harassed/bullied almost daily for 6+ years by a different guy (school is fun), multiple control freak family members, a Romeo & Juliet style generational family feud (no bodies, though, was afraid I'd be the first), a narcissistic backstabber who probably caused another couple to get divorced, three different 5+ year long situationships that were never resolved, two or three community theatre shows that nearly exploded, jealous evil girls, enough life destroying rumors to start a CW show...

Can see myself being like you at 35. You still have time.

1

u/Allergic_to_life_ May 09 '26

32F, never dated, no one was really interested and me and also I'm ashamed of how I look so that's that.  I think I've come to peace with that, I quite enjoy being alone but on the other hand I would like to see for myself how it's like to go on dates, be in a relationship, be in love

1

u/FewPassage5274 May 09 '26

I can relate to this.

1

u/Empty_Succotash_6489 May 09 '26

I'm a 26 year old man who never dated, and probably never will. I honestly lost interest when I found out a woman I had feelings for didn't feel the same way. I do have issues i need to work on (who doesn't?) , but that feeling of disappointment stings for a while before disappearing.

1

u/FewPassage5274 May 09 '26

Definitely get why that would put you off.

1

u/Murky-Nectarine-4109 May 09 '26

21 and still not dated :D

1

u/Uxellodunon13 May 09 '26

I hit 30 a few days ago and never did. Never was looking into it. Sound like a waste of time everytime someone talks about dating.

1

u/FewPassage5274 May 09 '26

You might be aromantic like me. Much better to be this way.

1

u/Uxellodunon13 May 10 '26

I don't know if it is better or not but i am fine with it. Allways remember: There is a lot of competition in life but you don't have to compete in every stupid game our society comes up with. At least for me, my job is stressful enough so i don't need additional uncertainty by dating someone.

1

u/Timely-Host-881 May 09 '26

25 Male here, and I’ve never dated. I’ve accepted that I’m dying single, and that it’s not for me. I just don’t see the point of constantly correcting behavior I didn’t create. Not to mention, my hobbies would get compromised if I were to ever date / get into a relationship. I want to be able to do things on my own time without having to consider someone else’s feelings. I also cherish and prioritize my peace and mental health, and staying single will keep my peace and mental health intact. Coming home to peace and quiet after work, and going to sleep every night knowing that i’m not getting cheated on are things that I will forever cherish.

1

u/Lopsided_Blueberry53 May 09 '26

29 years old never dated, never got married and I have zero kids. Guess what it doesn’t bother me at all.

2

u/FewPassage5274 May 09 '26

27M and same. It's weird to think that there are people my age and younger getting married.

1

u/Lopsided_Blueberry53 May 09 '26

I have cousins and relatives who are way younger than me and they are married with kids already. I’m like WTF aren’t you young for this????? Even if I had a kid today at 29 I feel so unready and lack the patience to raise one.

1

u/Opposite_Praline_746 May 10 '26

I think anyone younger than 25 that gets married and has kids is effectively ruining their youth. I know not everyone would agree with my point of view, but the amount of work it requires to maintain all of that is too pressuring. I was talking to a guy from my school year the other day and he looks like he's in his 30's, while I just look like a normal 20's dude.

1

u/Dirty-Scientist-43 May 10 '26

I’d say I wish I had but I have 3 beautiful babies… but if I could have done it without dating… I fucking would have! Lol

1

u/Budget_Ad_3488 May 10 '26

I'm 21 now and if i make 27 it will be me

1

u/silentpirate1899 May 10 '26

Early 30+ here and never dated even though i had some chances as a university student.I have pretty low self-esteem even though i am working out for years to improve myself.I also prefer to spend my time alone as much as i can but i would like to find a partner in the future.

1

u/Ayz0 May 10 '26

close to 30 now, i dated for the first time at 27 though, lasted i think like.. 8 months, with a significant amount of effort? i was checked out of the relationship from month 6 though lol. didn’t like it, not interested in dating again honestly

1

u/Turbulent-Willow-701 May 10 '26

I'm turning 27 in a month. Never dated. I don't really know what to say when I get asked why. No one pursued me, I guess?

1

u/Opposite_Praline_746 May 10 '26

When you say pursued you, I'm taking it you're a woman?

1

u/ElectricNinja1 May 10 '26

43, never dated, I don't go out

1

u/FewPassage5274 May 10 '26

Sounds like a peaceful life.

1

u/No-Attitude-1213 May 10 '26

I seen couple both under average looking and they so happy

1

u/FewPassage5274 May 10 '26

I see couples in my town too, but never really my kind of age.

Apart from the hormones, I definitely relate to everything else you said.

1

u/Organic_Marzipan_678 May 11 '26

54, went on one date in my 30s. He asked me if I enjoyed cooking and cleaning. Not for me.

1

u/MonkeDpoopy May 12 '26

Short, young looking due a condition, low self-esteem, introverted. Had my first date at 34-35 thanks to dating apps (OkCupid). First-ish kiss on our second date. Currently in a two year relationship with a different person.

1

u/HP_Fusion May 12 '26 edited May 14 '26

Im 28. Im going to be one of the only men in existence to die without ever touching or being with a female

1

u/Potential_Tour_6185 May 14 '26

I stopped dating at 24 , just too much competition , the girls always liked somebody else or they have a boyfriend , guys wanting to fight or threaten me over a girl , not worth the trouble and annoyance , never dated again.

1

u/FewPassage5274 May 14 '26

How old are you now?

1

u/Potential_Tour_6185 May 15 '26

Im so use to being alone , it doesnt bother me , the longer you wait the less interest you have , especially if you get heart broken at a young age , I dont even think about meeting anybody , I dont care anymore

just think of the benefits of staying single:

it's like getting 50% off everytime you go out , when you go to a restaurant and they ask how many? table for one

no kids to worry about , I really never wanted to raise a family anyways

the freedom to do anything you want and nobody to complain

no inlaws or mother inlaw to worry about

marriage is over rated , lots of people in their mid 40's never married and have no plans to marry

1

u/Tahhusoglu May 15 '26

I'm turning 27 in a few months and never dated. It's not always the social skills for me since I can socialize easily. I just don't grow feelings towards strangers so I just be friends with people I guess. And I'm too scared and shy to flirt with people so I just avoid it, maybe that's the reason

1

u/Dravonar Jun 10 '26

From 1997(29yo) 5,5 latino, ADD/ASD lvl 1- same like you i'm introverted, boring hobbies (gym, chess, reading or doing some tasks), I think differently politically, spiritually, and am a deep thinker. I have had some women stare at me, but not approach me. I don't pretend to be anything just to get validation. My humor is satirical, and If i matched with the right girl, I would go out more and be a great BF, something tells me my own post will prove that I'm not really wanted.

1

u/FewPassage5274 Jun 21 '26

You are wanted. Women have stared at you. You just need to work on your confidence.

1

u/Complex-Brain-2508 Jun 11 '26

21 and never dated😭, I feel bad gang I want to date☹️

1

u/9999AWC Jul 08 '26

27M - It just... never happened. Super comfortable being single, some social anxiety and nervousness on approaching women (especially being very self conscious about never having dated), quite busy in my career, no success on dating apps, and living in small towns/cities the past couple years. I'm actually afraid I'm too comfortable being single and that's preventing me from breaking out of my shell.

1

u/Far-Pizza-7850 Jul 17 '26

Made it to 28 haha. Same situation as you, except I'm not ginger or short (two very good things to be.)
I never understood the obsession with sex/romance and then when I even considered it the enormous pressure of it all completely put me off. I'm aroace and need emotional connection, I'm not competitive and not interested in judgement or drama. If I ever did date it would have to be with someone who was also chill and pretty sex ambivalent. The loneliness of not having that emotional intimacy can be difficult at times, but redirecting the passion into other things (hobbies, work, volunteering etc) has helped me a lot.

1

u/Ok_Coyote4902 Aug 16 '26

Try being 30 never dated anyone since birth lol
