Oktoberfest Security

Post image
• Upvotes

Anyone here had a bad experience with the security at Concordia? I saw many instances of them man handling and escalating situations.

The man on the left in particular used excessive use of force and seemed to enjoy it. It was very disturbing.

I’ve talked to friends and they say security at Concordia is known to be quite brutal. Is this true?

Kids Photoshoot : Photographer Recommendations, Pricing & Indoor Locations in Kitchener-Waterloo

Hi everyone!

We’ve been doing an annual photoshoot for our daughter for the past few years with the same photographer, and she gets along really well with them. This year, we’re looking to try something different in terms of location and setup.

Since her birthday falls in November, we’re a little tired of the usual fall-themed photoshoots and would love to explore some creative indoor options.

I’ve contacted a few photographers, but their prices vary quite a bit. For those who’ve done annual photoshoots for their kids, how much did you pay, and which photographer would you recommend?

I’m also looking for:

  • Indoor photography studios with fun, colourful or funky setups for little girls.
  • Indoor photo booths or creative photo rooms.
  • Unique indoor locations or hidden gems for a photoshoot.
  • Beautiful outdoor locations around Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge

Please share photographer names, approximate pricing, and location suggestions based on your experience.

Thanks!

Minister Diab's announcement in Kitchener today, that the government will no longer require LMIAs to hire foreign workers for high-wage roles, is an insult to every Canadian

It's like Lena Diab just personally spit in my eye. This is the most degrading policy announcement I've seen come out of this administration, and that's really saying something after their horrendous digital privacy bills were revealed.

They're directly coming out and saying that it doesn't matter to them if qualified Canadians are available and looking for a job in their own community, they will give it away to someone on the other side of the world and you, their citizen, can go get fucked.

I wish there was a Kitchenerite there willing to lob a rotten tomato onto the stage.

This is the sort of thing we need to organize a protest over.

How safe is Victoria Park at night?

Hey all, I'm not from Kitchener, but I'm going to be in town next week for a date. We're getting dinner at a restaurant that's near Victoria Park, and assuming it goes well, I was thinking of asking the girl I'm meeting if she'd like to go for a walk through the park afterwards, but I want to make sure the park is safe at night before I ask.

Shoutout to the Walmart staff at Sunrise Centre. These absolute clowns trying to pull an "Apple Pay prank" got what was coming to them

Just trying to mind my own business, and these three absolute degenerates think it's hilarious to pull some stupid Apple Pay prank while I was shopping. When I chased after them, they completely doubled down and started acting tough, saying they'd "see me outside."

Called 911 right away. Huge shoutout to the Walmart staff who handled it brilliantly and kicked them right out. The second the cops showed up, these geniuses tried to scurry over to the bus station like rats, but the police caught up to them and got all their info. Of course, once the cops had them, they tried crying about how it was just a "meaningless prank" and they'd never do it again. They even tried pulling the "this person tried to assault kids" card on me, but thankfully they didn't fall for their BS for a second.

One of these pieces of work even looks old enough to shave. Grow up.

PS - fu to the obnoxious woman in the store saying they're just kids. Actions have consequences.

Drive thru voting at Sunrise Centre

This was new. All you need is a voting card and a form of id. You stay in your car, you are given a box with the voting card and a sharpie. Mark you "x", hand back the box and off you go!

Brand new concept. I felt bad for those ppl who were standing outside in the cold though.

Anyone else try it?

In Search of Trumpet Lessons

• Upvotes

Currently interested in trying a new instrument. I went onto the Long and McQuade website but could not find any trumpet teachers that are in Waterloo Region (there are a handful listed around different parts of Ontario).

Does anyone know of any local music teachers who teach half hour lessons for under $40/hour?

My background is playing flute and piano.
