Toners are one of those steps in skincare that can really make a difference but often get overlooked. They help balance your skin and prepare it for all the good stuff that comes next!

I’ve just put together a quick guide on how to choose the right toner for your skin type, especially if you’re into Korean skincare (because, let’s be honest, they’ve got it down!). Whether your skin is oily, dry, or a bit of both, there’s something out there for everyone.

💧 Curious about what might work best for you?

Product Discussion what’s one skincare category you stopped overcomplicating?

mine is cleanser.
i used to have a cleansing oil, foaming cleanser, exfoliating cleanser, micellar water… depending on the day.
now i’m basically down to one cleanser most nights and my skin is no worse for it.
currently using numbuzin no.0 jelly. before this i rotated vanicream, round lab dokdo cleanser, and cerave depending on what i had.
honestly all of them were fine. i think i was just constantly looking for something “better” when my cleanser probably wasn’t the part of my routine that needed fixing.
what category did you guys eventually stop obsessing over?

Routine Help need help with skin texture/eveness!

Post image
• Upvotes

Over the past year, my (23f) skin texture/eveness/overall look has really declined and I have no idea why. I do my best to be healthy and follow a skincare routine. I have always had sensitive acne prone skin and my skin used to be combination but mostly oily, but now it will be oily sometimes during the day but when I wear makeup my skin is so dry the makeup looks bad. My skincare routine is this: tatcha milky sunscreen in the day, soonjung 6.5 ph whip cleanser, 0.025 Ttretinoin (been using for almost 2 years), cerave moisturizing lotion and occasionally hyaluronic acid. if you have any advice on how to improve my skin texture/eveness/shrink pores etc please let me know!!

*I will note that I have used an oil cleanser briefly about a year and a half ago and it gave me rashes all over my face so I'm not sure that will work for me.

*I also drink lots of water and do not wear makeup most of the time

Routine Help Is this capsule cream worth it? / help wanted

Hi! You may have seen my winter routine recs post, I can't link it due to subreddit rules but it should be visible on my profile. There's a little more context about what I'm looking for on there, but I'll put some context here. I (17f) have very dry skin with a slightly more oily t-zone (combination, technically) and, being new to K-beauty, am trying to build a routine. I've been thinking about getting the delphyr Deep Relief capsule cream, since it's affordable for me, but I don't know because I want to try PDRN products and heard capsule creams are the way to go. The delphyr cream doesn't have PDRN, but I've been considering getting the P.Calm one with caffeine for my dark circles.

Which should I get? Both? Neither? Another one I haven't considered? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks so much <3

Routine Help Can you guys build me an affordable skincare routine?

Hello guys i am going to order some stuff on yesstyle and am so overwhelmed lol!

I know I have a damaged skin barrier at the moment because it is irritated with cc that got alot better now because I used some left over skincare I have.

I have dry dehydrated skin and I want to improve my skin texture because makeup doesnt look good on my skin anymore and I use very minimal makeup.

So am thinking of the unleashia 2 step bubble mask and illiyoon ato cream which I used a long time ago and I liked for moisturizing but not hydration so am thinking of something underneath like

Celimax dual barrier barrier toner Haru haru probiotics barrier essence Wellage ampoule ( I use dive in serum atm that I got as a gift and I like so I thought this will be a good affordable alternative) Tonymoly mochi toner ( Haha because its so affordable!!)

So what do you guys think? If there is something else that is affordable you recommend tell me! Is one of these plus illiyoon good enough? Or should I get two of these and layer them up

Ask the Community What skincare products are actually worth buying in Korea?

I’m looking for Korean skincare products that are genuinely worth buying from South Korea!

I’m a 25F with normal skin, and my current skincare routine includes:

  1. Anua Azelaic Acid
  2. Dr. Althea 345 Relief Cream
  3. Beauty of Joseon Sunscreen
  4. Laneige Lip Balm
  5. Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

I’d love recommendations for must-have Korean skincare products across categories like toners, serums, moisturisers, sunscreens, and face masks.

What would you recommend? What are your personal favourites, and what products should I absolutely look into?

Thank you in advance for your recommendations! I really appreciate your help.

Product Discussion Went to South Korea and Olive Young Got the Best of Me 😅😬

Post image

Just got back from 9 days in Seoul and Busan, and I may have done a little damage at Olive Young. 😅

I swear, that place just sucks you in! And believe it or not, my friends had even bigger hauls than I did. Lol!

As Filipinos, it’s practically in our culture to bring home pasalubong (gifts) for friends and family whenever we travel. So I guess everyone’s getting spoiled a little early this holiday season!

Most of these are products I’ve already tried and loved, so at least I can justify my purchases. Or that’s what I keep telling myself. 😬

Routine Help Any help :(

Hello!

I've been in the k beauty skincare circles since I was 15 and I turned 24 next year and up until about 3/4 years ago my skin was doing really well!

A lot of changes have happened in my life since two years ago, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and PCOS and I've seen that it's done a huge change in my skin also just in general the hormones you get from transitioning from a teenager to an adult a lot of things can go different.

I used to have combo skin a while back my nose would get oily and that's kind of it my skin in general is always been pretty dry. I live in Ireland so I'm not sure if this is helpful information or not.

I did the wash you face and leave it for half an hour test and what I found is that

Cheeks- no drag. Kinda noisy, no flaky patches tho. I have rosacea so my skin pink there.

Chin- patchy and flaky, no oil. I did have breakout so maybe that where the patching is coming from

Nose- no oil, visible pores, but I did use one of those blotting papers and I could see the Impressions from my sebaceous of fillements so I'm not really sure if that counts as oily because where I have pores around the side of my nose there was no oil there either.

Forehead- no oiliness nor patchyness just felt a bit tight.

I do notice though when I put on sunscreen that around the sides of my nose and my nose in general can be a bit oily throughout the day but I don't know if that's the sunscreen just sitting on top of my skin or the oils of my skin coming through.

My skin care at the moment :

Morning:

Don't wash my face, makes it feel tight so ill go over it with cotton pad and toner/toner pad. I use either Boots glycerin and rose water toner or may&may vegan blackberry complex cream essence. I just finished my pack of needly daily toner pads that I was rotating before this. I then use the anua niacinamide and txt serum. I then use my purito barrier serum before finishing off with either cetaphil daily hydrating moisturiser or my purito oat in calm gel, this can be a bit light though so it can't be a very dry day. I finish it off with the pureto soft Touch sunscreen or the centella skin cica water fit sunscreen. I'm not a huge fan of the centello one though so I'm just using up my supply.

At night:

I use the haru haru oil cleanser then either haru haru gel cleanser or the glycerin facial cleanser from inkylist. I then go in with either the skin 1004 toning toner or the may&may vegan blackberry complex cream essence. Then azeliac acid before my purito barrier serum and either the Real barrier light cream or the s.nature squalane cream- I'm trying the S nature one because I thought it was breaking me out but I don't think it is. Since I don't wash my face in the morning I try to have a really nice thick moisturiser so marinates on my skin at night.

I had a pretty bad fright with closed comedones a while back so I tried to be super cautious of the products I use and avoid anything that is communogenic I also try to stay far away from irritants because my skin is pretty sensitive as well. I also want to get into a retinal but I know that can be pretty dry and on the skin so I kind of want to make sure that I've got a base routine lockdown before I introduce it.

The thing is that I understand a lot of influencers and such on tiktok are well entitled to get brand deals and stuff from people especially if they've used the product before and they like and they're just endorse in it on their experience but it's those who don't use the product and still endorse it makes it really hard to trust the advice on there so I thought I would turn to Reddit after someone on tiktok said that this is one of the best forums for advice on skincare.

I'd really appreciate any information or just in general advice it seems like everything is cared towards oily skin but never the type of skin i have I can't find anyone with similar problems.🩷🩷

Thanks so much for reading all this x

Ask the Community are these products causing my acne or its simply hormonal?

Post image
1 Upvotes

not sure if it’s hormonal acne or something else but this stuff pretty much never goes away, it just multiplies. i always get these painful red spots around my face (especially chin and mouth area). it doesn’t really look like acne, looks more like inflammation, which always appears in same areas. my skin is generally pretty oily but also dehydrated which might also be the case.

my skin care is generally really simple:
glycolic acid x2 a week (stopped using it completely now)
speedy cleanser
hatomugi skin conditioner every morning and night
madagascar skin1004 centalla sunscreen

any thoughts of what it might be? would go to dermatologist if i didnt have to wait for that long

Routine Help under-eye burning

HELP! on tuesday i tried the axis y vegan collagen eye serum and it left this burning sensation under my eye. no itchiness redness whatsoever, just persistent, consistent under eye burning. ive stopped using it and tried putting vaseline layered with cerave moisturiser but not much difference. i went to the pharmacy and they had nothing to prescribe and only suggested aloe vera. so ive been applying aloe vera- it soothes temporarily but the burn is still very much there. anyone ever experienced this? what helped? it hurts badly its been 4 days pls help 😭

ps: i have only used basics in my skincare never ever used actives

Routine Help Help with my routine

Hi all, I am new to Reddit, so please be kind 😊.

My skin is combination: oily T-zone and normal to dry/sensitive cheeks. By that, I mean if I am in a dry climate (like Beijing), my cheeks become red and sting, but in humid climates (like Malaysia) they are normal.

For reference, this is my routine:
1. Round Lab Dokdo Cleanser
2. Anua Heartleaf 77% Soothing Toner
3. Beauty of Joseon Calming Serum (old formula) - I find that it calms my redness when my cheeks become irritated
4. The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid + B5 Serum (cheeks only) - I find that it calms the sting
5. Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Soothing Gel
6. Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Aqua Fresh: Rice + B5 sunscreen (AM)

With this routine, I find that I am getting more occasional pimples on my forehead and chin.

I am thinking of adding Innisfree Retinol Cica Repair Ampoule to help with acne and I am not sure where it fits. Please also let me know if there are any overlaps in my routine.

Looking forward to your insights and suggestions.

Thank you!

Ask the Community What's everyone's favourite hydrating toner?

I'm very new into skincare. So far, when it comes to watery toners I've only tried the Haruharu rice toner. It's not bad, but it feels very standard and not hydrating enough. (It kind of felt like straight up softened water 😭) I ran out of it a couple months ago; not sure if I should repurchase.

I live in a humid, hot country, and I have combo skin (normal w slightly oily T-zone). I also notice that my cheeks get kind of red when it's hot. Could anyone drop any recs? Preferrably anything under $15. Considering it's mainly water, that seems pretty reasonable.

Product Discussion 345 Dr. Althea

I see a lot of hate against it on tiktok. I think the hate started because of the way the company treated influencers.

But I only use it for 10 days and my skin looks so much better!!!

I don't have active acne but I have some post-acne pigmentation and it really helps.

What is the opinion around it here?

More people feel like me?

Ask the Community Milky body serum/lotion

I got a Korean body scrub today and at the end they gave me a milky serum to put on my face and body and oh my god it was divine!! If you’ve tried the Ilia face base milk essence it was like that but a little thicker/more rich and hydrating. I’m hoping someone on here has some recommendations? 🤞🏽🤞🏽
