I know this LEGO set might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it now has a special place in my heart.
My wife and I lost our golden retriever, Gordy, in July of 2025. Unfortunately, we had to put him down due to complications from cancer that were not improving with treatment. I know a lot of time has passed since then, but it still feels tender.
When I saw the golden retriever puppy set, I thought it could be a great way to memorialize our dog. We love building LEGO, and we loved our dog. We adopted him as a senior, so we never got to see him as a puppy, but the set still reminded us of the dog we knew and loved.
We added one of his favorite toys, his ducky, and his dog tag to the final build.
Initially, I thought this would be a great idea. Now, I'm realizing it's bringing back some of the pain, but I think it's in a good way.
Just wanted to share a story of LEGO being part of something bigger than the bricks themselves. The emotional connection I have to this set has made the build exponentially more meaningful.
