Yeah, there’s a few subreddits that have nuisance posters who post the same thing every few months, don’t get the reaction they want so circle back and post again. r/AustinPowers has a guy who tries to bait people into discussing the intimate details of the scene on Goldmember where Austin gets buried in Sumo thongs. There’s another guy on r/Watchmen and r/AlanMoore who has an incredibly stupid and intensely researched theory about the secret identity of the character Hooded Justice from Watchmen. He’s so frantic about it that he argues with commenters endlessly and was banned for a while.

Oh, I’m sure the guy is serious, he’s just insistent that people agree with him on a theory that has no conclusive evidence and argues with anyone who points out flaws in his theory. He even has a history of trying to contact family members of Moore and Gibbons to get them to comment on the theory. He thinks he’s figured out a decades old mystery and cannot stand that people won’t recognize his genius.

I was serious in the post, I post a lot of silly theories in there in fitting with the sub. A lot of them seem to bother the people in there though

Very old lore but there was a guy who would post on r/mtgfinance constantly about how Rudy (a youtube card game content creator) and other "inside investors" were scamming him on flesh and blood. Which is a completely different card game. He would also never directly respond to anyone and instead edit his post saying there was a conspiracy against him. He was banned eventually but it was interesting to read his posts while it lasted

Hiking/outdoors subreddits have a nuisance poster who repeatedly asks "innocent" questions about how to pee in the woods as a woman, to the point that the topic is heavily moderated or banned on some subs

In that case and the case of the Austin Powers guy I’m not surprised someone has a fetish about it, I’m just surprised that somehow the fetish requires the other party to supposedly not be aware it’s a fetish thing. The Austin Powers guy once DM’ed me about it and I told him it’s fine if it’s a sex thing, I’m sure there’s people out there who would love to talk to you about Austin getting buried in sweaty sumo panties and Beyoncé looking at Sumo dongs but the guy was like “No, No, I’m really just curious what people think about that scene.”

Theres a guy in r/bfdi that everyone knows about because theyre suuuuper obssessed with one specific character who fell off 13 years ago and make multiple posts a month either complaining how not enough people love <character> or about how they keep getting downvoted for posting about <character>. I still cant tell if theyre serious or doing some kind of elaborate and long running bit.
