We're in the age of autonomous cars, you don't need any of that. You forget we already have cars without steering wheel driving through all the USA?

You do realize you still need all of that with an autonomous pilot, right?

You're not owning an aircraft without doing everything, and that's even if they can get an the AI to seamlessly fly it.

Keep in mind, it has to never make mistakes. Aircraft aren't like cars. There is zero margin of error.

People are paid more money than you've ever seen in your life to make sure that the only issue a plane has is the human portion.

If it makes any mistakes whatsoever, that's the lives of everyone aboard.

Self-driving AI makes mistakes constantly, but all the car does is back up and try again, or turn off the self-driving function.

An aircraft would simply crash and you'd be consumed by fire in a few seconds, or it will turn off and hand the controls to... You.

Even autonomous aircraft and airliners still have flight controls. Anything can happen.

Tesla cars aren't making mistakes as well. Having a service like the Cybercab but flying doesn't seem out of reach to me considering how well those work. And aircrafts already don't make mistakes, you forget most the times planes fly they're in autonomous mode? And even then, there's an automatic landing system if needed. Damn, we already have autonomous Black Hawks in the army. The only real challenge here would be a very trustworthy technology for those flying cars, and also not being as expensive neither as maintenance heavy as an helicopter.

But realistically flying cars would just be smaller helicopters. Brazil's Embraer has a eVTOL model which is called a "flying car", I think that's the further we will go with a production mode (and it seems good enough honestly). Those just aren't a vehicle you own to go to work I believe, more like a cheaper aerial cab than a proper helicopter (city focused btw)

I'm not sure you understood what I said. You're going over things I've already mentioned.

I'm speaking to the person that says that we dont need anything to fly a car and the AI will do everything and that's not and will not be the case at all.

P.S. Tesla cars have made mistakes, and still do make mistakes all the time.

You just never hear of them because they never end as a crash. They're mundane/low threat so the driver just takes over when the autopilot deactivates.

You're never gonna see on the news that a Telsa accidently took a turn onto a construction road because there wasn't a sign indicating it, or that it drove down the middle of a two lane road because it's a side road with no markings. The driver just starts driving it.
