Hi everyone! My husband and I have been trying to conceive for six months, and I’m wondering whether I should investigate something further.
I was on the birth control pill for eight years and stopped taking it to start trying to conceive. Since then, my cycles have been regular, but my periods are extremely light: I only have one day of actual bleeding, followed by a few days of very light brown spotting.
My hormone blood tests have been within the normal ranges, I don’t have PCOS, and I’ve confirmed ovulation using the symptothermal method. My endometrial lining measured 8 mm and was trilaminar on ultrasound. I still need to have my progesterone checked seven days after ovulation. My husband’s semen analysis was also normal.
My main concern is whether having only one day of menstrual bleeding could indicate an issue with my endometrium or potentially affect implantation. Does the amount of menstrual bleeding necessarily reflect endometrial health, particularly when the lining measures 8 mm and has a trilaminar appearance?
I’m trying to understand whether this bleeding pattern can be normal or whether it could be worth investigating further. I’d appreciate any insights into possible causes or relevant tests to discuss with my gynecologist.
Thank you!
