Out of curiosity OP, why is that a bad thing? You didn't say exactly why this is mildly infuriating to you, so please reply to let us know.
That placement appears to use the available space much more efficiently, including being able to put other items on the top end. Is it bad to store bread vertically, instead of horizontally? That's a real question, because I don't know.
