Video Danish Youtuber Playing RDR2 at 4FPS daily

A Danish youtuber has been playing Red Dead Redemption 2 at 4 FPS every day.

He said that the first missions took him over 12 hours to complete.

His PC is a laptop with an i5-8300H and a 1050ti with 4gb.

Dude is the most patient human being on the planet.

RDR2 for PC is only 3 years younger than the 10** series graphics cards. I don't see why it's running that badly unless hes got everything crank to max to just torture himself.

367

u/Sea_Bite2082 Apr 11 '26

My guess - not "everything crank to max" but just FPS limit.

Because it looks too consistent I dont feel any fps fluctuations

110

u/Personal_Nectarine_7 Apr 11 '26

I didn't even think of that, but I see it now that you said it. It's a slide show. You're right, usually there's some variation in framerate.

30

u/mirh http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/User:Mirh Apr 11 '26

To be fair it's hard to tell from a recorded video the difference between 4 and 8 fps.

2

u/ShinkenBrown Apr 11 '26

Even if that's the case, it could be that the fluctuations make it impossible to play and intentionally setting a lower framerate keeps fluctuations down and makes the game playable.

31

u/JonniSausageman Apr 11 '26

There are fluctuations I actually sat down and watched a whole video. Also this guy is well known in Denmark for being not all there in the head.

Probably has the display plugged into the wrong output

3

u/rpotts Apr 11 '26

OP says it’s a laptop - gaming laptops don’t tend to have separate HDMI/DP out from the motherboard in addition to the GPU.

He’s probably baiting for pity donations or follows

34

u/Eternal_Superyid Apr 11 '26

He doesnt allow donations, and he doesn't even know this has gone viral.

He doesnt allow comments on his videos, and he blocks everyone on twitter.

Hes a strange isolated guy, and has been gaming like this for years. His pc is just in need of a serious cleaning, both harddrives and dust.

11

u/Recurringg Apr 11 '26

Does he do anything other than just fart around the camp making coffee? Because I can't imagine doing anything else in the game like this.

5

u/Eternal_Superyid Apr 11 '26

He is trying to complete the game, but ofcause its takes ages.

strange. 1050ti should be able to run RDR2 with minimum 30fps.

Seems like the settings are either in high or ultra for that to happen

Everything for the sake of content I guess

This is the 3rd time in the last 24 hours I've seen him mentioned. 2 reddit posts and 1 article. So clearly it's working.

I mean, its just kinda sad though right?

Either this guy has some kind of major malfunction and actually enjoys this, or he's wasting his life doing something objectively boring just for internet clout.

I'd honestly rather work retail than play RDR2 at 2-4 fps.

54

u/Dramatic-Tell- Apr 11 '26

I'd rather get kicked in the balls by a Brazilian kick boxer than work with the public again.

Playing any game at 1fps would be an improvement.

alcohol-free Dane, so I’m leaning towards major malfunction.

We now turn to Sgt. Colon for an explanation:

You’re right,” said Colon. “The thing about the captain, see, I read this book once… you know we’ve all got alcohol in our bodies… sort of natural alcohol? Even if you never touch a drop in your life, your body sort of makes it anyway… but Captain Vimes, see, he’s one of those people whose body doesn’t do it naturally. Like, he was born two drinks below normal.”

“Gosh,” said Carrot.

“Yes… so, when he’s sober, he’s really sober. Knurd, they call it. You know how you feel when you wake up if you’ve been on the piss all night, Nobby? Well, he feels like that all the time.”

21

u/mcguffin99 Apr 11 '26

He is a danish lolcow, check out his channel MongoTV on youtube, and you'll see he isn't all there

5

u/FD4L Apr 11 '26

Some people just operate at 4fps. To them this is perfect.

2

u/Potater1802 Apr 11 '26

2 reddit posts don't pay the bills

2

u/Personal_Marketing19 Apr 11 '26

Knowing a little about him from the local Danish subs where people follow his youtube channel, he is definitely "off". I don't believe he is doing this for the clout. He has released 297 videos of RDR2, with the most recent ones uploaded today.

18

u/ThrowawayALAT Ryzen5 + RTX Baby Apr 11 '26

It’s all about the audience. I read somewhere a long time ago that tens of thousands of people watched a dashcam video of a single train ride through the snow in Norway because the older generation found it so relaxing and peaceful. This was actually a real phenomenon known as 'Slow TV' (Sakte-TV). It started in 2009 when the Norwegian broadcaster NRK aired a seven-hour continuous film of a train journey from Bergen to Oslo. It turned out to be a massive, unexpected hit - so surely this format has to work, right? Right?

The mobile 630 is 10% slower, but nonetheless even that comparison is too pessimistic now.

The game got officially support for fsr 2.2, let alone that you can use optiscaler to mod in xess.

2

u/glizzygobbler247 Apr 11 '26

Dont think he knows what that it.

I didnt think of the mobile being slower, that makes even more sense since hes getting 4-5 fps instead of 7

Funny enough Far Cry 4 has a special place in my heart.

It was the first game I tested my first new decent GPU on. For 3 years I just accepted that only 40% of AAA games would be playable and the rest required a lot of patience and tolerance for 17-22fps on low settings.

When I put in that GTX 660 and witnessed 60fps on medium for the first time, it blew my mind.

4

u/a3a3ell0 Apr 11 '26

In 2015 i had to remove some files (like tree textures) from Witcher 3 game files for it to reach 20fps on lowest settings. Nothing could stop me from playing this beautiful game

u/jokerzwild00 Apr 11 '26

Yeah, as long as it's not blocked by some DX version or RAM limitation and that can't be bypassed by a mod or config file, then you good to go. I remember when big games would have potato spec patches ready a few days after release, so that people with old hardware could play them. Doesn't matter that they look like n64 games, you're playing!

“YouTuber” is a bit of a stretch. Well ok in theory I guess. It’s a guy on benefits who’s not, quite ok in the head. I don’t know how else to describe it. He uploads up towards a hundred videos a day of him just rambling. Even if having somewhat playable fps on his laptop was feasible, I don’t think he would have the cognitive ability to do so.

3

u/PatheticGroundThing Apr 11 '26

I'd say that spending 50%+ of your waking hours every single day filming stuff to put on youtube would qualify you as a youtuber.

Ah, just like me playing Gothic 3 in 2006 on my FX5200.

Good for him!

3

u/trev1976UK Apr 11 '26

Could definitely run it on those specs

3

u/notIngen Apr 11 '26

This guy is a complete freak (bad kind) who has uploaded videos to youtube of his every doing for over a decade.

r/TeamMongoTV is where people discuss him

This is how I played Assassin's Creed for the first time as a kid.

2

u/Cautious_Translator3 Apr 11 '26

I have the same exact specs RDR2 runs at a playable 30 fps when you use nvdia's recommend settings and changing some settings in game.

There's no way a laptop 1050ti is that bad. Someone please tell him to force Windows to run the game using the GPU instead of the integrated one.

Do we know if he’s playing it like this knowingly, using at as a gimmick for subs/likes/virality, or genuinely doesn’t know he could be playing it less horribly?

Any Danes feel like reaching out to him and seeing if he needs any help adjusting his settings etc?

3

u/Unusual-Reporter-841 Apr 11 '26

He refuses to interact with his viewers. Probably because he is kind of famous in the weird part of danish internet culture, and they are not always nice to him.

2

u/XHNDRR PC Master Race Apr 11 '26

But why though? Maybe I can get in touch and let's resolve this haha, shouldn't be difficult. Where can I find this YouTuber?

2

u/Constant-Recipe-9850 Apr 11 '26

Okay but why is bro speaking in 4 fps ?! Is the video slowed down?

2

u/Blackdream93 Apr 11 '26

I used to play wow at 20 fps back in the day, best gaming time in my life

I have a friend that played Hitman back in the day at 5 fps and finished the game. I was amazed. He said that he could plan in advance.

2

u/chaky-games-serbia Apr 11 '26

He is not speed runner, he is a slow runner 😃

2

u/Big-Exercise-7344 Apr 11 '26

"buy me a 4090 PC I am suffering"
Those who fall for this should check their IQ

2

u/Gullible-Yam-8098 Apr 11 '26

Sounds like he's talking at the same speed as the game is running.

u/mcguffin99 Apr 11 '26

yea thats how i played nfs hot pursuit on my pentium 4+ 8400GS which eventually killed my system.

2

u/muslimmerchant Apr 11 '26

LMAO i didn't expect to see mongotv posted here. this is basically all his gaming videos playing at single digit frames.

2

u/JJ8OOM Apr 11 '26

That’s John from MongoTV, he is a real strange case.

2

u/MiaLovelytomo Apr 11 '26

what a legend. I could barely understand what he said at the start, his danish is just as slow as the gameplay

2

u/Erickkach Apr 11 '26

Oh is this one of those, 'I hope people pay for my new stuff' deals?

2

u/Tall_Thinker I5-14600KF | RTX 5080 | 64gb ram 6000MT | 8TB Apr 11 '26

Nope. He is kind of a legend in danish youtube history. He quite literally, isn't right in the head. He has over 50k videos of him just doing random shit in his apartment.

2

u/Ifucksalad Apr 11 '26

It is so nostalgic to think I was playing lego games with this quality and framerate on my brother’s old pc when I was a kiddo. Those who had a great pc as their first will never understand how it is the best feeling in the world

2

u/GenXPowaah Apr 11 '26

A month later .. He's out of the woods

Another month later.... Makes it to Valentine

2

u/fishmanprime Apr 11 '26

I played Skyrim to like level 36 at this speed or worse back in 2013

2

u/zeeblefritz zeeblefritz Apr 11 '26

He can probably get 8fps if he played in fullscreen.

2

u/REDACTEDXX_V Apr 11 '26

Bro saves every frame on PowerPoint so he can play it faster on slide show.

2

u/Yannick_1989 Apr 12 '26

I would rather eat glass shards than playing that way.

2

u/ReserveLegitimate738 9800X3D / 5090 / 64GB 5600 Apr 12 '26

I've personally met people who play at 5fps. They're argument is "I want it to look good, fps is secondary". First time was my neighborhood friend playing NFS Underground 2 like this :)

2

u/lucashenrr Apr 12 '26

This seems to be mongotv on youtube https://youtube.com/@mongotv?si=bGUqcbC1mRJXDy7P

As I remember, he have money problems and is paying money back while gambling and buying new computers and gaming stuff

2

u/tormentowy Apr 12 '26

Back in the days i finished the whole NFS Underground 1 and 2 on Pentium II @300MHz. Both required 700+ MHz Pentium 3. I had to disable the sound card in the device manager to go from 0.5 FPS to 1FPS. Love this games to this day!

2

u/erco35ksk Apr 12 '26

He should just lower the graphics quality and make it 720p. That bastard won't compromise on high quality.

2

u/Maletele Apr 12 '26

Imagine Speed running on this

2

u/erebuxy PC Master Race Apr 12 '26

That windowed setup. Straight to jail

2

u/Gadoguz994 Apr 14 '26

If he ever gets to play at any acceptable amount of fps he'll likely jizz in his pants repeatedly over the first hour

4

u/honestly-7 Apr 11 '26

Maybe on Mint or CachyOS he'll gain a couple of FPS. :D

1

u/Evgeniybkk Laptop Apr 11 '26

What magnesium pills is he taking !? I WANT TO KNOW ! Insane patience

1

u/[deleted] Apr 11 '26

RDR2 as a powerpoint presentation, nice.

1

u/fuckyouRYDER Apr 11 '26

its running on igpu.

1

u/Cyberspace_Sorcerer Apr 11 '26

His laptop should still be able to run that. i would say he capped his framerate to 4 FPS because the frame times look too consistent and there are no fluctuations. Having actually played games on a piece of shit laptop, this looks too consistent.

still looks like the guy is having fun so ¯_(ツ)_/¯

1

u/NIITIN Apr 11 '26

Really reminds me of late 2000s when I played OG COD Modern Warfares at 9-12 fps with an Athlon II and NVIDIA nForce iGPU.
