What is the size required to host the World Cup? Small is actually better. I can watch three to four games in one day. In Russia 🇷🇺 it was too big to do and you need travel from City to City. Now, you can move from one stadium to another without the need for airport. Just Rail and Buses and so on. How old is this guy? Maybe lost his mind. Small is sometimes better than big.

10

u/too_soon13 Nov 09 '22

I had the same thought. Country size is not the issue because the bid would explicitly document the strategy and execution. I’m not in Qatar or the ME but I’m happy a MEern country is hosting - it’s a change from the usual countries.

Olympics are held in one city. Not sure what attendance figures are for olympics, but i'm sure they're comparable to wc attendance figures.

The World Cup organisation was awesome. What he is talking? No security issues, amazing stadiums etc

This is old news. No one complained after.

easy to say stuff like this to try to wash your image once your pockets are full of money... it was a mistake! come on! you got your BIG share.

Also, man is it boring to keep seeing these posts, both attacking and defending Qatar, just give it a rest, we are days away from the world cup!! people have too much free time, for real. Get a hobby! (I know its ironic since I'm doing the same) but still. I will enjoy the cup, the fan zones, the crowd, the environment. Try to do the same! it's going to be awesome!

2

u/coldstonewarrior Nov 09 '22

To all to their own.

Remember Asian World Cup 2011.

Sure it was small comparing to Fifa but it did bring out the hospitality and the culture to people who didn't know about Qatar.

I miss the Aspire Fan Zone :)

-5

u/JWavell Nov 09 '22

I love how you dont even pretend the choosing of qatar was a corrupt bargain. That speaks volumes of FIFA and your culture

24

u/Edugrinch Nov 09 '22

I am pretty sure ALL worldcup bids are the same. I mean, FIFA is not precisely an example of honesty, and the bidders know what they are in for. It would be very naive to think there have never been bribes.

By the way I am not Qatari, I am not even arab. I am Latin-American so I guess I have to agree corruption is quite well engrained in my culture, lol.

The thing is, if they bribed to get the tournament, I don't really care.

12

u/FLEIXY Qatari Nov 09 '22

There was a whole investigation and trails about wether the there was bribery or not, and it turned out there wasn’t. Fact check.

2

u/Blondaar Nov 09 '22

It was fact checked that both Russia and Qatar bought votes lol

1

u/Ajkrouse Nov 10 '22

It was laid out that Qatar and Russia in fact bought votes to host the World Cup.

2

u/thefuriousadmin Nov 09 '22

3

u/20onHigh Nov 10 '22 edited Nov 10 '22

I am going to admit that I once thought Qatar was the worst possible choice to host this event. I didn’t like the season change that cuts into the sporting seasons of well established leagues, I didn’t like the lack of infrastructure at the time of the decision, I didn’t like the question of whether it’d be a hospitable country to host people from literally all over the globe, I didn’t like the lack of a well established football culture in Qatar, and I didn’t like the shady deals that set all of these things in motion.

I still believe FIFA needs restructuring and more oversight, but I’ve been reading comments and posts in this sub for several weeks and believe I may have been wrong about the majority of my opinions.

I hope Qatar puts on the best World Cup and congratulations on being awarded the honor to host. I’m sorry for the years of doubt.

20

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '22

I love how Qatar literally gives 0 fucks about the crying from the west.

-5

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '22

this entire sub is all arabs rushing to defend qatar and its human rights violations and your king just made a statement on it

3

u/Desertpoet Nov 09 '22

You're lecturing arabs about Qatar yet you think that Qatar has a king

2

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '22

Hahahaha you fucking puppets and your media outlets

1

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '22

Hilarious how Arab countries take criticism of their governments personally when if you came to Europe and criticised our governments we’d probably agree with you. Equally hilarious that you call us puppets yet you live your entire life based on a book written 1400 years ago by a man who had sex with a 9 year old when he was in his fifities.

1

u/betrayerofhope0 Nov 11 '22

We don't care about governments but we do care about a man who made us one of the biggest teeetotallers on earth the most generous the most kind people on earth

-5

u/Sup-biatch Nov 09 '22

Oh really? Then why your king gave a statement on it recently?

2

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '22

What King? Qatar ain't a Kingdom

56

u/Kyuumai Nov 09 '22

What’s funny is that people blame Qatar over both real and fake "human rights" abuse… But the other 3 candidates where China, Russia and the USA 😂😂😂😂

And trust me when I say they would not be boycotting it if it was the USA (or France lmao).

21

u/coromandelmale Nov 09 '22

The candidates were Australia, Japan, South Korea, Qatar and the US.

But let’s not let that data get in they way of your point.

10

u/Kyuumai Nov 09 '22

Australia actively helped the US in their disgusting invasion: https://youtu.be/-GPplTKCYpQ

And Korea/Japan hosted the 2002 one.

3

u/LaggyBlanka Nov 09 '22

You mean like how Qatar actively helped jihadist “rebels” in Syria and harbours Muslim brotherhood Neanderthals?

2

u/Key-Composer2202 Nov 09 '22

Quite strong labor rights in the us.

33

u/Kyuumai Nov 09 '22
  1. Children around the world make you clothes
  2. Some of your food and most of your electronics come from workers from 3rd or 2rd world countries where people work 12+h a day for 1 dollars
  3. Your ressources (material) for electronic parts come from extremely poor African countries. They are corrupted to keep your prices low and to make workers work like slaves.
  4. Your compagnies like Nestle, Cola-Cola, Monsanto, etc. commits disgusting ecological and humanitarian disasters in other people countries.

As you said, you have laws against all of those in the US. The 4 points I mentioned are all the fruit of (1) relocation, a basic capitalism principle, and (2) cheap labor. Extreme and greedy consumption of both material and workforce ressources are part of American capitalism. You literally created this.

Every capitalist country does this though - I am not blaming the US specifically here.

So you guys talking about Qatar cheap labor, who simply do locally what you guys do at the international, is nothing but ignorance or/and hypocrisy.

Btw the 4 points I enumerated are stuff you learn at school. Did you go to school?

BUT WHAT’S FUNNY IS THAT’S NOT EVEN WHAT I WAS REFERRING TO IN MY FIRST COMMENT LOL😂

Rather I was talking about the US murdering millions of people in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, and Yemen with their bombs. You dropped 26171 bombs in 2016 alone [1].

Add to this the thousands of Afghans and Iraqis women you rapped. Like it’s not enough that you are a top rape country already [2] - Like it’s not enough that you rape women in your military - You also went full rapist mode on muslim women. I bet American invaders where happy to finally find virgin women. Children were not excluded [3]. Wait wtf is this lmao [4]?

You invaded Afghanistan, installed a puppet government and raised your LGBT 🏳️‍🌈 flag in their country (in your ambassade).

You are #1 Israel 🇮🇱 supporter…

I was talking more about stuff like that Cheap labor looks cute in comparison.

Mahmudiyah rape and killings

The Mahmudiyah rape and killings were war crimes involving the gang-rape and murder of 14-year-old Iraqi girl Abeer Qassim Hamza al-Janabi and the murder of her family by United States Army soldiers on March 12, 2006. It occurred in the family's house to the southwest of Yusufiyah, a village to the west of the town of Al-Mahmudiyah, Iraq. Other members of al-Janabi's family murdered by American soldiers included her 34-year-old mother Fakhriyah Taha Muhasen, 45-year-old father Qassim Hamza Raheem, and 6-year-old sister Hadeel Qassim Hamza al-Janabi.

But the comment made me realized how important resistance against your kind of thinking is. Calling Americans murderers and rapist. Bringing Israel, the only democracy in the region, into it.

You are full of hate and wrong thinking. I can only hope and pray for you and your future. please get help. People like you is why the west has problems with trusting our religion…

Reminds me of the PM of a certain country who wouldn't show evidence he had a degree. A few weeks after the media continuously badgered him, his main man holds a press conference and shows off the degree.

Degree reads

"(Name withheld) has been awarded a graduate degree in the field of entire political science"

3

u/WholeKruger Certified Qatari Shitposter Nov 09 '22

Being democratic doesn’t make you better or good

7

u/Kyuumai Nov 09 '22

A Muslim repeating Israel propaganda…Sure. Israel is not even the only democracy is the M-E. It’s the only apartheid state is the world though.

Also, my claim about what Americans did in the M-E are facts. They are literally documented. There are pictures and videos about it. There are documentaries about it. American media outlets themselves talk about it… What else do you want?

"But that comment made me realize how important resistance against your kind of thinking is" Then way did you not resist with counter arguments based on evidences, like I did, in your comment? All you did is deny the undeniable and run away.

I mean… there’s even a lot of Americans recognizing what their country did and apologize for it. Heck! Even Americans veterans [1]! So the "educated Muslim from Asia" can go and vomit his Israel propaganda somewhere else.

Strong labor rights? You MFs don't even have "paid Maternal leaves" or Universal Healthcare.

-1

u/Night_Shade_X Nov 09 '22

Not trying to defend the US but anyone who has a job their employer provides medical insurance at a heavily discouned rate. Lastly maternity leave is pretty standard as most companies as well. Short term disability and long term disability insurance (which covers maternity leave) is like $5 USD or so a paycheck which is nothing. Lastly, people without a job can get Obama care insurance at an affordable rate. Anyone making a lower salary qualifies for Medicaid which is a health insurance sponsored by the state, not the federal government. It seems the West has a lot of misinformation on Qatar and vice versa.

1

u/bean2124 Nov 10 '22

Employers give and option for insurance. Premiums are only low if you have a very high deductible. You pay a lot! for it. Which is deducted from your paycheck. Also, one of the biggest employers (Walmart) their employees have to get welfare and food stamps just to make it. They do get Obamacare but only in those states that have it. And Medicaide only in the states that have expanded that coverage. In most red states that isn't the case.

0

u/Night_Shade_X Nov 10 '22

Most deductibles are like $50-100 that's a lot? And Walmart is a crazy example that's unskilled low pay work. That's like me comparing a low unskilled construction worker in Qatar as a baseline. You're talking about extremes. Your typical American has health insurance provided by their employer and the deductible costs don't kill them. A routine doctor's visit most of the expense is covered. My health care plan when I worked in the States was like $100 or so a check. When I went to the doctor or dentists my costs were minimal and dental insurance was like $10 a check. Medicaid is available to most everyone whose below poverty line which is making less than $20,000 which $20,000 would be balling in many other countries. The United States even has government assisted for housing and low income (section 8). For a country that touts capitalism the US sure has many different social welfare programs.

1

u/bean2124 Nov 12 '22

You are somewhat confused. I'm not talking about a co-pay. And taking 50 to 100 out of a paycheck a week for health care is pretty bad. I'm not talking extremes. Far from it. It is you who are deluded. The U.S is the only 1st world country were people go into steep debt and bankruptcy because of medical expenses. And since many good paying jobs have been outsourced overseas, much of what you have here is serviced oriented which is low paying. You sound quite elitist in your tone and very entitled. And BTW by saying someone is unskilled is just the thing people like you use as an excuse to not pay a decent wage.

1

u/Night_Shade_X Nov 12 '22

Unskilled is not putting someone down that's just what that type of work is called if it doesn't require a pre-existing skill or knowledge to work it. That is why the pay isn't the highest. Again, another extreme about people going bankrupt for healthcare expenses. You do understand that leading deaths in the US for healthcare related issues are heart disease, substance abuse, type 2 diabetes, kidney failure. And bulk of this is all caused by poor dieting (too much McDonald's and fast food) and substance abuse (1st world issues). In the US the cheapest food is McDonald's. Here in Qatar you can have many other healtier food options which are cheaper than McDonald's. As far as someone going bankrupt on healthcare costs that is not the norm at all and as I said most people have health insurance, short term disability and long term disability insurance. If you think $50 to $100 is too high for health insurance that's you're opinion but the average salary in US is around $40,000 a year so in the grand scheme that's not too high. Lastly, if everything is outsourced as you say, why is the US still the leader in GDP in the entire world? By your logic it shouldn't be since making services doesn't increase GDP. Also iPhone creation which is outsourced is all counted towards China's GDP since it is made there along with other products. Yet, still US GDP is higher than anywhere in the world. High paying jobs are still there by the boatloads. This doom and gloom about America is highly exaggerated. Just as people talking about the Middle East making it seem as if women are just tormented and subjugated by men when clearly women in this part of the world are as happy if not happier than their western counterparts and don't need to be saved from any harm. We just blindly repeat this extreme talking points and make it seem as if it is the norm in both places.

5

u/Buyers_Remorse21 Expat Nov 09 '22

Seriously? US and labour rights? Only a few get paid sick leaves. It's got the shortest maternity leave in the world

4

u/Immigrant974 Expat Nov 09 '22

And a disgustingly racist militsrised police force.

8

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '22

Are you sure ? Minimum wage and terrible work environments with long hours beg to differ , union leaders are fired and pay is cut daily , everyday there is a new protest against a work policy within the US

2

u/Key-Composer2202 Nov 09 '22

Please look at minimum wage in construction and then look what they earn currently.

so it’s no comparison.

And the protests is because people want more, it’s their right to protest.

Tbh you can’t be seriously defend working conditions of the poor in Qatar… this sub is delusional. It’s not your decision i understand so maybe just try to show empathy and look on how to change things.

Instead you call other countries out and say: but there is also something wrong. It’s called whataboutism

3

u/Buyers_Remorse21 Expat Nov 09 '22

It's cheap labour, but outsourcing also does the same. The only problem is the medieval kafala and the exit permits.

No I also dont like Qatar’s wrongdoings but Who am I to judge Qatar when my own country is filled with shitdoings. Its stupid tbh. Im tired of seeing such posts just days before the Worldcup as if its a propaganda against the country (deep inside I know it is) Just like when Pakistan invited several cricket teams for matches in the country. Other countries started this agenda that its a dangerous country full of terrorists.

Like come on its a repetitive pattern.

“sinners judging sinners for sinning differently” this is what comes to my mind tbh.

2

u/bean2124 Nov 10 '22

Have to agree. They've known for years it is going to be in Qatar. And who is Britian of all people to be criticizing anyone. They colonized most of the world and slaughtered an untold number of people. France. The only thing they are democratic about is hating everyone who isn't them. The U.S. has outsourced their labor to every developing country so they can pay $1.00 to make a part and then charge $700.00 for it. I'm glad Qatar got it. Beautiful people. Beautiful country. And do people think that those other countries that came before didn't pay anything? FIFA is very corrupt and that is how they do things. Hate all this Qatar bashing. Hate all the ME bashing.

I really hope Qatar and its residents show and prove that this will be the best World Cup ever. Let the western media and the visitors see that Qatar is way more advanced and safer than their shitty hypocrite western countries.
