Edit: the blitz pulled the ball in, the ball states that when you move it hence the effect doesnt trigger. Opponent was wrong but i was first 🤣

I was feeling pretty dejected after months of loosing at my local NNs, skirmishes and Vendetta pre-rifts. I enjoy meeting local players on a random weekday and having a causal game. but consistently loosing actual matches hit me after a while.

I was thinking about taking a break from the game. My career situation isn’t looking good rn and I cant justify spending the time required to get gud. after my last nn I put all my cards and accessories in a closet and made a choice to come back when I had more free time to invest into the game.

This was about two weeks before radiance pre rifts began. i stopped playing or buying cards for that time, but still decided to attend a pre rift because my cheap ass knew that I wouldn’t be able to get packs cheaper (my lgs event had $20 entry fee).

so I went, unsure if I would actually stay because I didn’t want to play. after seeing familiar faces and getting into the spirit, I decided not to be a pouty poro and open my kit 15 min after the countdown began.

I pulled riven, not know much about her kit I instantly decided to go with purple/green. I hadnt even opened my packs yet, but I didn’t want to take it too seriously. I didn’t want to get ‘invested’ and lose again and again.

i kept it simple, picking low cost combat tricks and anything that gave me movement. I took the advice of a neighbor and decided Not to splash another color but kept my legend and cc. No bombs or any epic cards.

my first match was against a regular who everyone went to for rule clarifications. i Credit him for helping me finally understand combat (at least better than before). He ended up over-investing into his cc around turn 3 and I had the right card at the right time to counter. it was my first win against him. I was in shock and he was a very good sport about it, explaining where he believe he lost the match and complimenting my plays.

the next match was against the guy who introduced me to the game. this was back when unleashed just came out. I was a TCG newbie (still am kind of) looking for an alternative to magic. He hyped the Vex deck and I was interested.

anyways, I was attributing my first win to luck as I had no ‘plan’ during deck building and never heard about riven being the prerift goat. But I ended up winning again despite being introduced to bomb gears for the first time. I think my op was trying to get a bunch of bombs set with ziggs to then trigger with a card in hand, but it was too slow. I think player was the first person I ever played against and this was my first win.

I kind of felt like I did something wrong. like i brought miracle kennen against a Jinx deck. I can’t even recall why I won exactly. just that I always had a combat trick boost my might or a unit to play.

my last match was against the winner of our last skirmish. I was like, “ok, luck has finally run out but at least I might get prize packs”. I was nervous because he wasn’t a reg, usually just came for the bigger monthly events.

I played pretty conservatively at the beginning. Btw, i missed my 2drop this game and the last despite wining the 🎲 rolls so i was behind in both games. I can say with little doubt that mvp cards were battle prep, reckless inovator and riven bb. My opp was on Orianna.

I forget the details (my memory is shit if you can’t already tell), but opp conceded after I managed to take control of both battlefields around turn 6. He said He didn’t have the cards to come back and I buffed riven at one bf and storm raptor at another. I think we were matched 5-5 at that point. I was feeling pretty good but when he called gg I was surprised.

gotta say, all the people I played were good sports. Im Well aware the nature of prerift is of a very casual format. I know winning doesn’t make me ”the best player” all of a sudden or even a good deck builder. Pre rifts are about learning and trying new stuff so being there’s no excuse for being a sore loser or gloating if you win.

i know my ass would get cooked if I played anyone there in a constructed format. but seeing my playername at the top of the stores leaderboard for the first time didnt feel bad. Neither did getting prize packs for winning and not just showing up.

so that’s why Im thanking Riven. Idk if I’ll ever get that ‘top of the world‘ feeling in this game again (pulling her precon was pure luck) but it was nice to experience it once. this is not a post to brag. More so just saying how good Riven was in prerift for me. Even being “the new irelia” I had no irelia spells, defy or stellacorn. And I’m no prerift wizard because i didnt win a single game during vendetta. despite going to 3 different events.

I never wanted to get my joy from winning games when I started playing tcgs. I wanted to be part of a community and I got that. I really enjoy Riftbound and don’t plan on quitting. I think I just need to address this toxic-competitive aspect of myself and gain more confidence before playing again.

After seen many posts of users sharing their AI tool creation, I saw the rule about AI Content and it got me wonder. Rift Atlas is openly an AI created tool, how come we all support it and its original post is still up?

So lookimg now the Captian looks for Gear and Unit 4 or less.

Is Lablank better now if we include the captain in there? I always find that looking for hook was hard and subsequent copies do get you to find the hook or just fodder for the ability.

I'm looking at reksai, viktor, and azir. What gives me the best competitiveness per $ spend.

4 packs of radiance same rares packed together, packs are far too seeded, literally feels awful to spend money on. Think they should work on this issue.

How does Last Caress interact with Baron Nashor?

I believe it’s already been established that with the Riven legend, you can target your own battlefield to have it enter ready but it would still move to the pit.

If Baron is played to an enemy occupied battlefield using Last Caress, does it still move immediately to pit or does a combat showdown happen first? If there is combat, does it move to pit afterwards?

Price rn is between 700 and 800$. Obviously should move once its officially released. What would you do if you were me ? I don't want to keep him as the sell could finance some expensive cards for futures decks obviously.. just don't know about the timeline

Brand new player chiming in, and so far it's been awesome. I got Morde at my pre-rift event and went 1-2 with what I made. I got help from the local players to make the deck, but now I am planning to expand out. It looks like the cards that really make his legend shine are like $50+ a pop online and that's a bit steep for what I am looking to spend. Anyone have any deck ideas I can riff off of? Also where do you folks pick up power cards in bulk?

I tried building my first deck after going to some prerifts and enjoying K'sante, I haven't tested it yet, but this is what I managed to do, any improvement points?

Call me crazy for how this reads but...

Using Time Warp on another person's turn (thanks to Kai'Sa) reads like it would do absolutely nothing. The player is already taking a turn after this one.

Like I'm sure the intended interaction is that the user gets a bonus turn/extra turn, but the card text doesn't read that way at first glance.

I've tried looking up rulings regarding turn order/sequence but I've ran into absolutely nothing. Likely a case of poor wording in card (or maybe it is intended to only work if you cast it on your own turn...)

This isn’t rage bait or anything I just want to hear everyone’s opinion on this card and if there’s any counterplay to it. Zhonyas feels way too good for what it does. I honestly don’t know the counterplay once it’s hidden. I can’t play any gear removal and if I try to invest a lot to kill a unit (mainly astral heron) with a hidden Zhonyas it doesn’t matter at all and they run me over next turn because invested so much on my turn.

When a player plays a Falling Star it can deal 3+1 and 3+1 damage to Units at a Void Gate.

How does the new card Scorched Earth work with Void Gate?

- Will every affected unit receive 1 extra damage for a maximum of 10 damage if there are 5 targets?

- Will it straight up deal 5x2 damage?

- Will the player be able to divide 6 damage?

- something else.

I am newish to the game started last set and went to my first prerift this week with a buddy. We sat next to this guy who cracked all his packs quickly, laid all his cards out to take a photo. I look over and he uploaded this photo to an ai. I ask him what he’s doing and he tells me he’s asking “Claude” what to build with his cards.

Well game time comes and my buddy faces him first round and gets absolutely smoked. To be fair my friend has only played a bit longer than me so probably isn’t as good as this guy and the others at the shop.

My buddy tells me apparently this guy went 3-0 at the prerift.
Is using ai allowed or was this guy going against the rules

Managed to go 4-0 and win a Pre-Rift with this deck. Any thoughts? It was probably bad to play 35 cards instead of 25, and most likely didn't get enough 2,3 drops.

2/4 games went to overtime. All games were really close, but managed to clutch it out in the late game. Red Mordekaiser was the MVP, and the pig top deck saved me 2 times
