Discussion Who is the worst final girl in horror history—and what actually makes her the worst?

Not asking which final girl you personally find annoying or which actress gave your least favorite performance. I mean: which horror movie gives us a survivor who genuinely does not work as its central character that are just some of the most bland and boring and forgettable final girls ever.

Is it just me or do others feel like movies 6 thru 8 you would of smelled Jason before he got you. I know parts 7 & 8 aren't the greatest but for 31 days every year I watch nothing but horror and decided this year to try and get through all 13 (I think 🤔) of them. But I cant stop thinking how awful he would smell in real life 🤣🤣

Am i weird or has anyone else ever thought this same thing?

After kills bunch of people and manage to get away with it but fail miserably to kills one young woman who is only one left at the camp and showing how hypocrite Pam is for blaming Alice who has nothing to do with her and her son then assuming Alice will be easy to killed just like the rest of victims that she murdered since prequel but ending up with her got killed instead.

Discussion M3gan is an bad slasher and written character and what i think are good ways to do AI and girl slashers

Thumbnail gallery

M3gan is an objectively an bad slasher character and written character. The overall change of shift of not having horror ruined both m3gan and the seqeul. A good way to turn an ai slasher villian into a hero is the terminator in terminator 2. That is a rare case but there is ways you can still make het into a hero and not make it boring and overdone. The right way she should've gone and others thought that she should take a horrot route which I agree with. The overall character concept of her would be better if she got the horror highlight instead of going full sci fi. Another goodly written female horror characters are pearl, Tiffany, Lori from happy death day, some of the scream girl slashers such as amber and Jill. and also is it weird whenever blumhouse does merch they only focus on her and none of the other equally if not gooder slashers. Like they only focus on m3gan and I'm kinda tired of it. And btw I like what they did with soulmate and the killer robots thing so I know they can write the killer robot good but not m3gan.

What do you think

Recommendation CRYSTAL LAKE is Epic (Ignore the Nay-sayers) Spoiler

Post image

Crystal Lake is a prequel/remake of the original Friday the 13th films from Paramount and they handle the material beautifully. They get everything right, and I mean everything! Thank you Brad Caleb Cane! Thank you!

For some background info, the last movie in the F13 series that I truly loved was Jason Lives. The New Blood was entertaining but not great and the franchise got worse and worse from there. (The novels and comics are sometimes great but also hit-or-miss) and the remake was okay but left a lot to be desired. I AM NOW OFFICIALLY IN LOVE WITH THIS FRANCHISE AGAIN.

The biggest thing it gets right is the setting, film makers try to make Crystal Lake too grimey. I the old movies Crystal Lake is portrayed as soft, quiet an cozy, which makes it SCARIER. Every vacation spot I've ever been to looks like Crystal Lake does in paramount movies and it's scary because there could have been a killer stalking those woods and I wouldn't have known about it until it was too late. The town in this show looks perfect.

Now for Pamela and Jason, I need to make this clear, THEY WERE NEVER SOCIOPATHS. Pam and Jason lost their minds due to grief and tragedy. Jason was always an innocent boy in his youth. Rewatch the original move and you will clearly hear him cry out "mommy! Save me mommy!" This is also something Tommy Jarvis takes advantage of in Part 4 by reminding him of what he used to be. He's not supposed to be like Freddy or Chucky, he wasn't born evil, he's a monster built by tragedy, and the same goes for Pam (who Linda plays wonderfully.) If Jason was a silent killer in his youth (the way some of you seem to want) than the tragedy of the characters is gone. What made Betsy Palmer terrifying was how gentle and caring she came off as most of the time, she was damaged not evil.

The show does take the mythology in unique territory. (I never would have imagined Jason as a lab experiment gone wrong) but it all works. There are no plot holes here the characters are still consistent with their movie counterparts. All they did was take them in brand new directions and add new characters to the mix. I LOVE THAT WE FINALLY GOT ELIAS VOORHEES ON SCREEN. Seriously, what took so long. I don't think he should have ever been cut out of Part 6. The narcissistic abuser of a father adds so much to Jason's tragedy. I felt bad for every character I was supposed to feel bad for and I hated every character was supposed to hate. The plot twist involving the character of Grace was brilliant (but I won't spoil it.)

The gore is plentiful, if you want blood you will get plenty of it here.

As for what I hope to see in the future. I predict that Pam will definitely still get beheaded but it will probably happen differently than the movies. Grace will continue her spiral as one of Crystal Lakes many monsters and eventually we will see the events of Parts 1 and 2 reimagined....and I'm excited for it.

Please give this show your support, I've already lost Hannibal and Chucky, i don't want to lose this too 😭

WATCH CRYSTAL LAKE! 10/10

Discussion What did you think of The Fisherman as a slasher villain in I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) - Yea or Nay?

Post image
10 Upvotes

Just to be clear, I'm strictly talking about The Fisherman in the original 1997 movie not any of the sequels that came after it.

I've always thought The Fisherman was pretty underrated, especially when it comes to how he stalks and terrorizes his victims rather than just killing them.

His kills aren't the most memorable or creative compared to other slashers, but I think the psychological torment makes up for it. Sneaking into Helen's bedroom to cut her hair while she's sleeping, leaving Julie threatening notes and making the group paranoid about who knows their secret. I honestly find that stuff more unsettling than the actual murders.

I also love his design. The raincoat and hook are pretty simple, but they work perfectly with the fishing town setting. And Helen's chase scene is easily one of my favorite slasher chase sequences.

Another thing I appreciate is that when Ben Willis is finally revealed, he actually looks like someone who could physically be The Fisherman we've been watching throughout the movie. His build matches the stunt performer pretty well, which is something I have an issue with when it comes to certain Ghostface killers in Scream. Sometimes the person underneath the costume doesn't look remotely believable as the Ghostface we saw doing all those stunts and attacks.

I feel like The Fisherman gets overlooked whenever people talk about iconic slasher villains from the 90s, especially compared to Ghostface.

Came across this channel last week and totally recommend it. He’s currently reviewing the big three slashers and is going through them chronologically- he’s incredibly entertaining and gives a more academic and balanced view of the films and their themes. Best of all, he uploads every day!

Not my channel by the way, just really enjoying it and k think it needs more views.

At least considerably compared to the 1980's version is because we're seeing him from Pamela's point of view. Thats her baby. I know it's casting, but this makes sense to me. Good day ladies and gentlemen.

Discussion JASON VOORHEES(PART 6 SPECIFICALLY) VS POOH BEAR(BLOOD AND HONEY 2) AND TIGGER TOO ALONGISDE POOH(BOTH BLOOD AND HONEY 2 VERSIONS) READ THE BODY

MATCHUP RULES

Jason Voorhees: Use Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives specifically. No later Jason feats or abilities from Parts 7 through Freddy vs. Jason. Absolutely no Jason X feats.

Pooh and Tigger: Use their versions from Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 specifically. No feats from the first film or other installments unless they are also demonstrated in Blood and Honey 2.

No composite versions: Neither side gets abilities or feats from other versions or installments.

Use actual feats: Base arguments on what these specific versions have demonstrated, not assumptions about their entire franchises.

Two locations:

  1. Jason vs. Pooh and Tigger at Crystal Lake, Jason’s home turf.
  2. Jason vs. Pooh and Tigger in the 100 Acre Wood, Pooh and Tigger’s home turf.

Jason has no teammates. Pooh and Tigger fight together.

PLEASE EXPLAIN YOUR REASONING!

Don’t just vote for Jason or Pooh and Tigger because they’re your favorite characters. Explain why you think your chosen side wins in BOTH locations, taking into account the specific versions, demonstrated feats, teamwork, and home-field advantages.

I’m interested in actual arguments, not just votes based on character popularity.

Discussion I wanted to love this show, but... Spoiler

Post image
0 Upvotes

I'm simply not a fan of the many lore changes it makes to the series or the new backstories it provides for the characters. I know this series is technically set in alternate universe, but it's a little harder to accept when it goes out of its way to recreate locations and moments from the 1980 film, as well as implement numerous characters from it.

For starters, I absolutely loved how Barry and Claudette's death scene was perfectly recreated in Episode 5, down to the dialogue and camera work... only for the last-minute reveal that Grace actually stabbed them while high on acid. To me, this was done for the sole purpose of subverting audience expectations rather than complimenting the story. The fact that Grace almost completely disappears after this event only confirms this notion for me.

But more importantly, Jason being turned into an actual superhuman through some company conspiracy so people can survive nuclear fallout just felt unnecessary and silly to me...and not in a fun way. Jason's backstory has always been highly effective in its simplicity. He was a deformed boy who was shunned by everyone around him except his mom, so that when he disappeared in Crystal Lake, he decided to live alone in the woods, feeling that he would never fit into society and that his mom would be better off without him. However, Jason couldn't have been more wrong because his mom completely loses her mind after her son's "death" and goes on a vengeful killing spree. Only after his mom is finally killed by one of her intended victims does Jason become the rageful killing machine we all know and love.

Taking this straightforward backstory and turning it into some grand conspiracy with chemical and radiation experiments in an attempt to create superhumans just comes off as needlessly complicated imo. In Parts 2-4, Jason was human. An abnormally strong, durable human, but human all the same. It's only after he is killed off in Part 4 and resurrected Frankenstein-style in Part 6 does Jason actually become superhuman and immortal. Making him superhuman and immortal from the start just feels, yet again, unnecessary.

I also don't like how Jason was already brutally killing people long before Pamela died. I've always liked that Jason was essentially a harmless hermit who kept to himself until his mom dying sent him over the edge. Making him a killer so early on honestly makes Jason less interesting to me.

I know a lot of people really liked this show and I'm happy for you. As a hardcore fan of this franchise and these characters, I desperately wanted to love Crystal Lake (especially after the 17-year drought we've been in), but the new story directions just didn't click for me. I'll admit that this is a well-made TV show with good performances, fun characters and memorable moments, but I don't think it quite comes together as a Friday the 13th prequel or reimagining.

Fan Content Scream 8 (Parallel Sequel Fan Script 2026)

Hey Guys. This is my first Scream fan script, and I finished it last month after some dialogue corrections, tweaks, scene shuffling, and grammar fixes. I made this when Scream 7 came out, and I heard a lot of criticism about the film (too straightforward, no meta humor, weak reveal, etc.). This script serves as a parallel sequel to Scream 7 and follows a new set of characters in Woodsboro and one legacy character: Kirby Reed, in her last appearance, due to Hayden Panettiere's passing. The script is dedicated in her memory.

The script is simply titled Scream 8, and its premise goes like this: 8 years after losing her parents and babysitter in December of 2018 to a Ghostface killer, 17-year-old Casey Miller is forced to confront her past as Ghostface returns to Woodsboro after burning down the Macher House, leaving behind a file that contains a terrifying secret and an old script of the scrapped Stab 3: Return to Woodsboro. Realizing that Ghostface is targeting her friends by re-enacting death scenes from the script, Casey is in a race against time to solve the mystery of her past and uses her own knowledge of horror films to survive Ghostface's newest killing spree before it's too late.

This fan script satirizes franchise fatigue and contemporary horror reboots, and it's got some pretty insane kills. Bear in mind, for those who haven't seen Scream 7, this script has spoilers for that film, so see it before reading.

Here is the link: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/oh3euw1s2tqpxrmg20ob0/SCREAM-8-FINAL-FAN-SCRIPT.pdf?rlkey=2cmrjmiodco6fsm9nff14yiff&st=b3dvfsea&dl=0

Enjoy, and let me know your thoughts, favorite parts, characters, and death scenes. Please be respectful and helpful.

Sequels can be hit or miss, but I tend to like sequels more than not and don't have many I hate or don't find some enjoyment in. I definitely notice there are some that I really like that I don't see get much recognition compared to the others or have pretty mixed or negative reviews, so I thought I'd drop some sequels I like and think are underrated. This was just for fun, and it's great if you agree or disagree. Do you also like any of these sequels, or have any other slasher sequels that people rarely talk about or trash you actually like?
