Hello! I've never made a post here, but I have some questions and thought I'd give it a shot. I am looking to become a snowboard instructor this year in the midwest (yay!) and wondering about some board recs and advice for the year.
Mainly, I'm wondering how beat up I can expect my board to get.
I have a Nidecker Venus 2023 148/146 cm currently, which I LOVE. But, it's directional, weighted in the back, and it has a fatal flaw for the midwest: it really struggles on sheets of ice.
I'm looking for another board and new bindings this year (unfortunately, have been very disappointed with my Burton Scribes). I'm very drawn to the Burton Yeasayer 144 cm, but I don't want a top-of-the-line board to get totally ruined in lesson teaching. I'm sizing down a bit because the 148 is a bit long for my size. I would pair the Yeasayer with Union Trilogy bindings, I think.
Should I just buy a beater board secondhand and expect it to get ruined, or is it safe to invest in the board I want? Also, any advice for a new instructor would be great! Can't wait for the season start!
Thanks!

This is the same company that created 19 million gallons of rain over Homer, AK, in just 3 hours with two drones. Now, it wants to partner with every ski resort in Utah, and is even eyeing the 2034 SLC Winter Games.
If drones can help solve the water crisis in the West, I'm ALL IN. But cloud seeding has been around forever, and I have to believe there's a reason why most resorts aren't investing heavily in it.
But I could be wrong. Curious what other people think.

Looking for thoughts on Burton Photon Boa vs Ion Boa. I’m 6’2” 200lb size 12 riding a K2 Excavator. Mostly riding steeper groomers/bowls, powder, and slower trees. Coming from Burton Rulers the last 4-5yrs. I ride 15-20 days a season

Todd Richards new board with Signal just dropped earlier today. It features an updated version of his original very first pro board graphic on the Morrow TR Pro released back in the 93/94 season. Todd's been a legend for decades now, and having this board come out right after being officially inducted into the ski and snowboard hall of fame feels like a beautiful full circle.

Tools and supplies.
- 120 grit sandpaper
- Basic weather stripping foam with no additives or adhesives
- Cyanoacrylate based super glue
- Scissors
It's important to get foam that doesn't have any additives like fire resistant or mold resistant. The super glue is also important as cyanoacrylate is considered medical grade, also handy if you have a small cut. The only other thing to consider is adding a fabric layer between the foam and your face, I haven't figured out a good way to do that yet.
I used this method last year for another pair of goggles and rode 17 days with them without any issues.

Currently trying to decide between buying the following boards:
Salomon Assassin/
Capita Aeronaut/
Lib Tech Ejack knife
Does anyone have recs regarding these 3 boards? Or other All Mtn/Freestyle recs and why?
Any experiences/opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Bros!

Snow is falling so I broke out all the boards I bought this off season. I realize I have a problem. Fourth of July sales were the worst. I couldn’t stop buying a board if it was below $400.
Then Signal had to go and pull a buy one get one free sale….WTF!! Got the Tailgunner splitboard (not pictured) and that Tailgunner POW board for less than $450.
I can’t be the only one? I wanna see the off season scores and board collections so I can feel a little better about myself.
I have a Solomon Suoer 8 and an Arbor Formula Decon as well. They were my two boards from last season.

Hello guys. I have niche maelstrom with union strata bindings and I'm looking for new boots and I'm not sure how stiff boots should I buy. The first idea was buy stiff boots based on stiff snowboard (8/10) but the problem is a little more flexible bindings. I'm not sure if I should buy boots 6-7/10 in stiffness or stiffer or sell the bindings and buy a new stiffer one. I'll be glad for any recommendations. Currently deciding between DC judge boa, nidecker kita and burton photon boa wide

Was swapping the Mercurys last year between my Dancehaul and my Berserker, wanted something a bit more playful this season for the Dancehaul. Can’t wait to get some turns in on em.

Picked this board up today in a basically new condition (used once or twice)
I can’t find much info about it. I’m looking for rider who own or ride this for some feedback.
How does it ride? What does it excel at? What bindings do you recommend with it?
Thank you!

Hey all, going on a trip to Japan soon and wanted to pick up new snowboarding pants. I like mid baggy fits, think 686 Dojo or beyond medals park pants.
Anyone have good quality brands/styles that are harder to get outside of Japan?

Got a fatty for the upcoming super el Nino season, a Nidecker Escape 162XW.
The others are:
Rome Artifact 157, an '06(?), it's a thrifted rock board.
Capita Pathfinder Reverse Camber 157
Capita Artguer Longo Aeronaut 160W
K2 Afterblack, 2007, 160... my first board. Retired.
Im still in the market for a split board setup
Union Falcors & Size 12 Salomon Synergy(I'd love these boots if they could sort out the eyelet casting) this is second pair that I'll be returning and I know to do better inspecting and filing the next pair.
I'm 6'2.5" and 200lbs ish. Riding 18 years, last season was my 4th 90 day plus and second working at a resort.

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for recommendations for a snowboard that suits my weight, height, and riding ability. I’d really appreciate your advice and experiences.
My stats:
● Weight: 135 kg (298 lbs)
● Height: 185 cm (6’1”)
● Boot size: EU 44 (US 10.5)
● Riding level: Beginner to intermediate. I can manage blue runs, but I get tired relatively quickly, especially in my legs.
Boards I’ve ridden so far:
● K2 Klayblade 163W, flat profile, circa 2011
● Lib Tech Skate Banana 163W, rocker profile, circa 2013
With both boards, I feel like I’m struggling to get enough pressure onto the edge to brake confidently and come to a stop. I sometimes lose grip and slide out instead of holding the edge. It’s not quite as bad as it might sound – I can stop, of course – but I don’t feel particularly secure when trying to hold an edge. My legs also get tired fairly quickly.
I also own an older F2 camber board in 168W, which I’ve never actually ridden.
Now I have the opportunity to get a Bataleon Goliath+ 167W from the 2025/26 season at a good price.
My questions are:
I’m not looking to ride aggressively or at high speeds. My main goals are more confidence when braking and holding an edge, better stability, and less leg fatigue.
Thanks in advance for your advice and recommendations!

Gentems are special boards and this is no exception, it’s just a little too narrow for my riding style these days. Less than 10 days on this. Other than some light binding rash and a couple tiny lift-line topsheet chips, it’s in perfect condition. Over $1000 new, and almost impossible to find at any real discount. Asking $600 including shipping in the continental US.

Hey everyone, I'm trying to decide between the North Face Men's GTX Hex Jacket and the Men's Ceptor Jacket.
I snowboard in Ontario, so it can get pretty cold, and I'm looking for a jacket that will keep me dry and work well with layers underneath.

Hey yall,
Looking to buy a new jacket as I accidentally left my current one (pictured) in my bag when it was wet overnight- my empty beer can pocket got a bit moldy, and I gotta throw some bleach on it every time I wash it as it grows back (disgusting, I know). With all the washing, the waterproofing isn’t as good, although it was only 10k rated.
I want something with decent tech as I can now afford a nicer jacket, but noticed that there seems to be a trend of brands doing more “simple” designs that are just a few colors without as much fun prints.
I want to stay away from Burton/volcom as I don’t like seeing other people on the mountain with the same jacket as I know even the “unique” ones are pretty popular.
I really like Picture Organic, 686, armada, L1, and am kind of drawn to Beyond Medals, but again, most of their designs don’t have as many fun/unique prints these last 2 seasons like I feel like was popular maybe 5 or so years ago.
Anything I can find that does have more “fun” patterns or modern designs don’t have the quality I’m looking for (looking at you Dope/Montec/Vector).
Anybody have recces for brands that have high quality/tech AND sick designs or collabs?
Again, pictured my jacket above since it was a 686xKeith Haring collab, and over my 5 years of using it, I NEVER saw anyone wearing my exact one, plus my friends could distinguish me on the mountain real easily.

While snowboarding I tend to get wind burn on my nose, lips and face in general so I wear this fleece half mask. When I’m wearing it and jumping around and moving more I tend to find it hard to breath due to how thick it is. Anyone have any recommendations on a mask that will both break the wind a bit to not give me wind burn but will not restrict breathing as much?

Went to the shop recently looking for a stable, damp, but still fun resort board. Was recommended the Dinghy and SkyPilot. Both seem sweet and share some similarities. My biggest thing is protecting my leading knee. I'm still intermediate and looking at something to progress on but I can last all day from charging with the boys or looking for sides hits whike my wife rides greens. I'm worried with the Dinghy that it's a little too wide and aggressive for my knee to handle all day. I'm not sure if I can demo either in South Lake Tahoe. Any thoughts?
