I'm going to be the devils advocate here and say that op was initially somewhat rude by implying he lived under a rock and not explaining the joke until after already making fun of them being a bit of a nuisance in the process by not just explaining the joke.

It would come across better if he posted the meme and also explained it at the same time making it more light hearted but instead it comes across more as being intentionally annoying so I don't really understand why people are having a problem with them?
