Medical Questions Injury? Disease?

Post image
0 Upvotes

One of our floofs suddenly has an eye ailment. We’re not sure if it’s an injury, or disease. We’re applying terramycin, hoping to avoid an emergency vet visit. We’ll go Monday either way, in the mean time he’s not terribly bothered by it. I just wanted to post in case we’re being stupid and need to absorb the e-vet premium. Attaching a picture, thanks for any thoughts or advice.

Advice How do we feel about these, for neighborhood strays?

Post image
• Upvotes

I live out in the county, there is no animal control/shelter that serves my area. We bought one of these months ago.
It’s starting to get cold at night again so I was planning on plugging it back in. I just wanted to check in with the experts (yall) to make sure this is “actually” a good idea.
A kid at my local PetSmart told my Husband that these are dangerous. I asked him how, he said “I dunno”, i asked him what she had to say about them, apparently he asked no follow up questions.
I just don’t want to cause harm when I’m really trying to do a good thing

Medical Questions Numbing cream for cats? Ear injury is itchy.

Is there any sort of numbing cream that’s safe for cats? I brought my boy to the vet today after a cut on his ear began to abscess, and he got some injection antibiotics. Now that he’s feeling better, he’s begun to scratch at it and keeps pulling the scab off. I really don’t think he would tolerate a cone or donut well, but if he can’t feel the itch, he wouldn’t scratch.

Still about 11 hours till the vet opens back up and I wanted to know if numbing cream was even available. I also don’t want to take him in for another exam because I just put $500 on my care credit today and he gets so stressed out going to the vet. Since it’s his ear, it doesn’t re seem feasible to put a bandage on it either.

Has anybody had any similar experience, and how did you go about it?

Advice Spenderkatze für Bluttransfusion in Nähe Leipzig gesucht!

(Germans near Leipzig, please help my cat)
[In Leipzig oder Nähe Leipzig]

Hallo,

Mourning/Loss Came back from church event and saw my baby 😭

My baby boy my last surviving boy of his mother's only litter. They were ferals but me and my fiance saw them being born in our backyard. Most of them stayed some left us.

His name was sweetheart because he was an absolute doll and we wanted to bring them inside but couldn't because of our current baby boy who doesn't do good with other cats.

We were driving back from a church event and there he was laying in the road one block from home on his way home for dinner. Which is 4pm sharp and he knows that. We were only at the church for an hour and he was laying in the road. Cold and alone. My sweetheart died alone without the love he would crave every second of the day.

Sweetheart deserved to be inside a loving home and ill forever regret now not giving him that. May you rest is peace baby boy - love your big burly Hooman dad

Ive never had a pet before my current house cat. So ive never had to experience a heart break quite like this.

We finally bought animal crossing today, will get to playing it later. Joe loves to game with me, I adore how calm and loving she is. I adopted her as a kitten, she was spayed before I got her and originally thought boy until took to the vet back then and now find out she’s a girly pop. Isn’t she beautiful!? She’s very well behaved and a bit of a mommas girl, she is very bonded to me

Medical Questions Cat licking a lot and not able to use the bathroom

My cat keeps going to the litter, every 1-5 mins, able to pee a little but keeps going back and just standing in there. I just noticed he’s also licking his belly a lot. Like when he’s not trying to use the bathroom he’s licking. He’s eating and drinking like normal.

Took him to the vet and he doesn’t have a blockage or anything super fatal. His bladder is small, everything around it though inflamed. His belly does look bigger recently but nothing that looks alarming. Hes a growing boy (2ish years old). It was really expensive to do all the tests. I had a similar thing happen with my other cat, and it was a stress induced bladder issue, except then my cat was urinating too much .

I got some inflammation med and “cat Advil” for now, watching him closely. I am keeping my other cat away for now, other cat is hissing i think cuz it saw the vet bag and smell on my cat. I’m so tired. Haven’t slept. What does this sound like to yall?

Advice am i a bad owner?

for the past few months ive been constantly thinking i need to do better for my cat.
i play with them for a good while 1-2 hours with breaks, but they just want to keep going and i try to keep them fed and hydrated well with 3 meals at: 7 am, 3 pm, and 7pm.
But i still can’t shake the feeling i’m not doing enough, i already am buying a cat tree and some more toys (i don’t make a lot so it gets expensive).
I even read that it’s better for the cat if there’s another around so i’ve been thinking about getting a second, but i’ve tried getting them used to people ever since they were a kitten (2yrs currently) and they have a hard time meeting new people and animals.
Am i just mentally spiraling or is there something i’m missing, cause from the way my cat behaves i feel like i’m not doing enough.

edit:

TYSM TO EVERYONE WHO COMMENTED. I guess i was being a little crazy and with all y’all’s help i’ve managed to figure out my cat might just be eric cartman from south park with how spoiled he is 😂😂😂😂

Advice To collar or not to collar?

Do you put collars on your cats?

Over the summer, I took in a feral mom and kitten. The kitten just got his microchip, so I'm wondering if I should now take his collar off? I read somewhere that it's good to have both a collar and chip so that if the cats ever get out, people know by sight that they are pets who should be returned. I have mixed feelings on it.

Mama cat gets chipped next week so then I'm also wondering if I should remove her collar too.

They both like to hang around doors and would love to run outside any chance they get (more so with the mom who lived outside for years).

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thank you!

Advice bonding 7 year old and a 2 year old cats

Recently I've just adopted 2 female (sprayed) cats, they're both domestic shorthairs. I've had them for about one week now, when they first arrived, the foster parents released both of them in the room and they immediately fought, not playful fighting. The 7 year old (nana) scratched the nose of the 2 year old (anan) which caused it to bleed. I've separated them since then and have been doing scent exchange where I exchange their boxes, beds and toys which have each other's scent to get them more familiar. Today morning, I've let both of them meet directly, while holding onto the nana in case she starts a fight. They didn't fight... for about 5 minutes then nana meowed loudly to anan which then anan hissed at her. I've continued separating them since then.

The advice I need is, do you guys think they are inherently incompatible? Personally I'd like to keep both of them because I've grown affectionate to them, but this situation causes me stress as well. For now, I've decided to keep this going on for another month and see how it goes, I would appreciate advice on methods or items which could help them bond.

Advice Litter question

Post image
2 Upvotes

Fellow servants of our air biscuit making friends- do you have any reccomendations for a clumping litter litter brand that does not excessively stick to paws? We have changed to a litter robot type of box and now have a stray litter drop zone radius of 10'.

The picture is just to draw attention to the question, Toddrick has been working on his forms and is proud of himself.

Advice I don't think i love my cat as much as I should

My cat that i felt was my animal soul mate died earlier this year, i loved him so much but unfortunately he was ran over at 5 months old after running out our front door. I don't know if the sudden death has anything to do with why I feel how I do now but I feel like im not connecting with my new kitten as much. I do love her and she loves me back, she's around 4 months old I've had her for 2 months now. She's still a bit skittish but doesn't run from me just becuase I walk over to her anymore ans she likes to come over and sit on me and lay down and sleep on me if she's tired and likes playing, which is like my previous kitten but for some reason it's just not clicking with her. I love her but I don't feel she adds much to my life which is an awful thing to feel. I'm not going to re-home her she doesn't deserve that stress as shes naturally more shy and is attached to me. Will this get better? Can someone who had a similar struggle give advice

Advice Please help does he sound distressed ?

My kitten makes constant noise. Not that I mind at all I’m just worried that he’s upset or distressed for some reason. He’s been checked by the vet recently as he was just neutered and then had his booster vaccine and he was fine.

He does the same when I walk around the house. He winds round my legs and makes constant noise and I can’t figure out what it is. He doesn’t want food, litter is clean, doesn’t want cuddles and doesn’t want to play. I’m not sure what else it could be or if he’s just very vocal.

Any advice please

Medical Questions Can I get rabies from a stray cat touching a wound?

I have a stray cat that lives on my roof and I was just out petting him. I have an ingrown toenail that ive been picking at, and he stepped on it very briefly. He is eating wet food, and is very affectionate and vocal. He has never bitten or scratched me, I'm just a severe hypochondriac and rabies is one of my biggest fears

Admit it, you freaks. I'll go first, I did it today after she licked me, to see how she'd react. She seemed confused.
