What are some things to look for before marrying a divorce girl? I’m never married man.

I'm 24, this is my first serious relationship. She's 28 and divorced. We met 3 months ago doing our respective PhD and MBA programs. We moved things fast—became intimate within the first week, called each other soulmates, everything felt right. I genuinely fell for her hard.

At the 3-month mark, I brought up marriage because I was serious about our future. I asked about her past relationships. She ignored my questions and avoided the topic completely. I got a weird feeling something was off.

I talked to our mutual friend and that's when I found out she was actually divorced. I went back to her and asked directly. She denied it. She said "I'm not divorced. Who told you that?" She got defensive and angry that I asked her friend instead of asking her directly.

Our mutual friend then sent me wedding photos from her actual marriage. I went back to her with those photos in hand and asked what was going on. Only then did she finally admit she was divorced.

She was married for 1 month after dating for 2 years. Her ex-husband cheated on her and left her for another girl. They separated in January 2023 and the divorce is finalized. She still won't share his name or details—just says it's in the past and not worth discussing.

She was scared to tell me about the divorce because of her past trauma. I get that now. But I still need to verify everything is above board before we take this step.

We're ready to move forward. I just need to know what legal due diligence I should do as someone marrying a divorced person in India for the first time. What documents should I ask to see? How do I verify her divorce is actually final? Are there any legal risks I should be aware of?

I want to marry her. I just want to make sure we do this the right way legally.
I have still not told my parents about it soon going to tell them.

Frage zur Erbschaft und Schuldenhaftung nach Todesfall Österreich

Location: Austria

Hallo zusammen,

Estranged parent is threatening legal action over items given to me 7 years ago

Location: Virginia.

I'm estranged from my father after years of narcissistic abuse. My mother died earlier this year and although they were still married, she arranged her estate to be left almost entirely to me. Since then, he has been trying to regain contact and control in my life, and the latest attempt has me considering hiring a civil attorney. Over 7 years ago, he gave me several musical instruments, most of which he no longer played and just sat dormant in his house. When they were given, they weren't just borrowed or loaned for a short amount of time, but physically moved into my residence. They were used on recording projects and the less expensive pieces were taken on tour with a band I played in at the time. I moved residences 6 years ago and the items were moved with me. He never asked for them back or suggested they were owed to him in any way. Over the years, I've paid for insurance (about $700 total) and repairs (about $1200) on each item he claims ownership over. He was aware of all of these expenses and did not offer to cover them nor has he ever attempted to regain ownership of the items. I've scoured our old text messages for anything that sways this one way or the other, and for the most part, it seemed to be an understanding that they were gifted to me.

In June, he attempted to go through the executor on my mom's estate demanding these items be returned to him by a certain date. An estate attorney advised the executor that this had nothing to do with the estate and was a civil issue and not to respond directly to that request. I've been no contact with him and he has only one email address with which to contact me. After several months, he has reached back out, now copying my email on his demands for the stuff to be returned to him. He is citing "unlawful conversion of property" and threatening to take some legal action against me.

What are my legal options here? Does he have a real claim to make? Should I lawyer up?

Manager is taking a portion of our tips

Hi everyone, so it’s basically the caption but I’ll add a few details/developments. I work at a fairly big fast food chain in america, i really like it and get paid $12 an hour (minimum wage is $7.25 where I live) and I also get tips. We collect online and cash tips, they’re added up each day and then divided by the amount of people that worked that day and equally distributed, the only people that dont get in store tips are drivers and general managers. I typically make anywhere from 20 to 60 a week.

Anyways, a few weeks ago one of my managers offhandedly mentioned that we don’t get cash tips anymore. The tip jar is still out but it goes to the store, the only tips we get are online. I was confused but didnt say anything about it for a few weeks till i brought it up to family/friends and they told me it was basically illegal which i already suspected. I did some research and most websited told me it was illegal. I asked my general manager about it and he said the district manager made this policy and the funds go towards store upkeep. I brought up how this might be illegal and he told me to ask my district manager.

I talked to my dm about that today and he told me that the tips go towards employee benefits like drinks (so we stop taking from the drink fridge even though we’re allowed one drink a shift) and small parties (which i dont really care for). I told him that it was odd that the tips dont go directly to us and that i dont really care for those benefits and would just like 100% of my tips back and the others would probably agree. I brought up how my gm said it was for upkeep and my dm basically said my gm was wrong. My dm left a bit ago and told me that my gm will talk with us about it later.

Im just very confused on whether this is legal and how to get them to stop because most of my coworkers agree with me, im just the first to bring it up with my dm. Any advice?
