The collective psychosis to believe valve will work on a PvE mode of deadlock when they barely even develop the main one and already abandoned street brawl

The cope in this sub is real

whats there to work on with street brawl? its a finished gamemode beyond some balancing, is it not?

Yes, the balancing, which hasn't happened for quite a while at this point despite very very clear outliers in Paige and Graves.

not to mention the humble enhanced refresher victor that just runs down the objective over and over to win the entire match

What more does Brawl need?

Balance changes. They established that they're willing to make changes just for that mode yet Graves and Paige have been S++ tier basically since the mode released

I’m reverse coping. I really hope they focus on getting the base game to 1.0 before tackling other stuff. Genuinely worried this update is gonna have a big focus on a half baked PvE stuff.

Hell street brawl needs a dedicated map too. I’m so sick of looking at these ugly ass placeholders for 2+ years.

I think they literally told us that the time wasn’t due to scope creep so we wouldn’t assume it was the PvE mode lmao

I'm not sure what you mean on either of those points.

I can understand that, but if we are assuming that we will apparently get a jungle update, then it would also be a prime time to make some side pve mode, the resources of one could work in the other pretty easily.

Ur getting downvoted but yea the collective cope is insane

Abandoned brawl? TF you talking about? It’s gotten balance patches

u/RealMapLord Sep 15 '26

So what are they developing then?

My guess is a rework of boss and an enhanced rift. Too much of the game revolves around boss to where the earlier parts of the game feel un-necessary.

Jungle camps are likely being reworked as well, maybe defeated jungle camps join the lanes like rifts currently do (this is how it works in HoTS).

Reworked movement system so not every fight is aerial combat. I would like to see different heroes have more differences in mobility than just stamina bars. (Celeste/holliday are a good start but needs to be more universal)

Map changes to make geometry more interesting to fight in. Every lane feels samey.

Melee rework is low chance but also possible.

I'm guessing at least half of these are in the update if no heroes are added.

Jungle camps are likely being reworked as well, maybe defeated jungle camps join the lanes like rifts currently do (this is how it works in HoTS).

After the XP/healing orbs from HotS, I'd love if they did this. Gives you a way to set up for objectives and gives jungle camps a tangible effect on the map. It also lets camps have a tradeoff between farming efficiency and lane pressure (cheap, easy grubs that give lots of souls vs. a big tanky unit that's hard to deal with).

The 2-minute jungle camps at the beginning of the game would also be interesting if they marched down lane. It'd make some lanes harder than others and you could time it if you think your opponents are going to leave to do a box run. If you backdoor your opponent's T1 camp, they would walk right into the tower and disable its protection.

the first towers of each lane have no protections :-)

You don't hire the guy that makes Risk of Rain just to help with a PvP mode.

Edit: okay my bad, thought I had something there

u/Lil_Chipmunk Sep 15 '26

why not they already made a bunch of characters

15

u/daily-lurk Sep 15 '26

Could’ve hired him for character development cause risk of rain has some banger unique characters

10

u/TruXai Sep 15 '26

he has experience designing banger characters and unique items. He's pretty much perfect for Deadlock

2

u/Erfeo Sep 16 '26

I mean they had people from Campo Santo working on Dota Underlords amongst other things, so who knows really.

u/Stock_Enthusiasm_392 Sep 15 '26

Ngl I would pay for a PvE Deadlock game. That's how good the core movement and gameplay is.

I tolerate the sweatiness of pvp matchmaking because i looooooove the way the game feels to play. My unrealistic pipe dream for the game would be functioning bots that are fun to play against.
