PC El horror de Orthak está cerca

Post image
1 Upvotes

LAYERS OF FEAR : the final masterpiece

SILVER PINES

Quelqu'un les as testés ? Est ce qu'ils tiennent la route sur Switch ?

PC Suggest me a kind of horror game that makes me think why did I load this game to begin with

I'm not looking for something like RE but something actually scary.

I have played games like Re7 and silent hill but those games don't scare me.

Something uncanny, disturbing, and actually scary.

DISCUSSION First-person survival horror reccomendations

I was a scaredy cat about horror until I decided to try RE. Resident Evil 7 was my first dip into the survival horror franchise, and it felt like discovering a whole new world. Everything about it was amazing, the gunplay, atmosphere, Ethan himself, the claustrophobic environment and power progression, all of it. The scariness only made it feel just that more cathartic to boomstick things down. Went straight to RE8 after that.

Thing is, nothing has really ever matched that kind of ultra specific spark I felt with RE7. I don't really like it when I play as a soldier or special operative, I want to play as an ordinary person, an everyman. There also should be some kind of combat too so it's not just helpless hiding.

The games I've searched for either have the ordinary protagonist, great environment, but no combat (Alien Isolation, Outlast, Amnesia), are third person (the other RE games), or lack the polish or have a trained protagonist (Crisol, similar indie games). I'm midway through Dead Space, cleared RE2R and got Silent Hill 2 Remake, and they're all amazing, great games, but they don't scratch the itch.

It's not like I dislike third person, I just enjoy first person more to get up and close with the horror.

In short:

- Like Ethan Winters or Miles Upshur, ordinary everyman protagonist, not a badass or special operative

- Focus on gunplay and combat, visceral and impactful

- Large scale boss fights

- Survival/action horror tense atmosphere

- Preferably first person

- Similar atmosphere to RE7 and Outlast, although not required

Are there any survival horror games that match these requirements that flew under my radar? Thanks.

I always wanted to make a game where an entire town is available for you to explore. Kind of like a murder mystery tv show set in a quaint little town. During development it changed more into a survival horror game. What do you think?

You told me my monster was a Siren Head clone. You were right, so I redesigned it. Does it read as its own thing now?

A couple of days ago I posted my creature here and most of you said the same thing: it looked like Siren Head. That was fair. The speaker-horn head on a tall, thin body was doing all the talking, and that's Trevor Henderson's design, not mine.

So I went back to what the creature is supposed to be. It's called the Listener. It doesn't make noise, it hunts noise: it tracks the radio you're carrying and gets lost when the signal stops. A thing that listens shouldn't have a head full of speakers.

What changed:

- No head at all. Nothing above the shoulders should read as a face or a speaker.

- A hunched mass of acoustic panels with a hollow in the torso where it "hears".

- A cluster of bent antennas growing from one shoulder only, so the silhouette is lopsided.

- Long arms it leans on and short legs, so it moves heavy and low instead of tall and lanky.

The GIF is a native capture from the game (Unreal Engine 5, only cropped), with the camera off to the side while it walks toward the player during the red "Tempest" phase. The lightning flashes are the game's own. The lighting has also changed since my last post, so the colours won't match the old clip.

What I'd love to know:

  1. Does it still remind you of Siren Head, or of any other existing creature?

  2. Can you tell it's something that *listens*?

  3. Creepy, or does something about it look off/goofy?

Blunt answers welcome. The last round of feedback is the reason this version exists.

My first psychological horror game: a boarding house in 1980 where the landlady is a little too kind

Post image

You rent a room in an old boarding house. Theodora cooks for everyone, gives the guests something to help them sleep, and takes care of their mail. Some of the guests stopped writing home.

No combat. You live there for three days and three nights, do chores, talk to the other guests, and try to figure out what happens to the ones who leave.

Welcome to the game 2 Coop?!?

Anyone else still play Welcome to the Game II? I always wanted to play it with a friend, so I put together a co-op mod (with AI doing most of the coding).

Welcome to the Game II never had co-op, so I made a mod for it with AI's help. You and a friend share one apartment: two desks, you can watch each other's screens, lights/doors/money are shared, and if one of you gets caught you both lose.
