Question Which one do I choose
Hello, I recently got the starter set (2024) and I really like how the game plays. Now I am at the point where I want more, but I don't just want to play more games with the same two teams matched against each other (there isn't really a community, we're just playing with my brother). So I wanted to ask which one of these teams is good/fun to play. The options I got are:
Heartkyn Salvagers/Yaegirs (ROCK AND STONE!!!)
Imperial navy breachers (I love the shield guy and the little robots they have)
Scout squad (I could use this one in my regular army)
Celestian Insidiants (I like the sculpt on the shield lady and they're just very cool overall)
Inquisitorial agents (not as good as the others, but cheap)
I'd also want the team to possibly stay relevant into the next edition (I know this is impossible to say, but surely newer teams have a better chance), and I'd also like for the team to play in a different way than the plague marines and angels of death. Thank you for any advice.

Hobby Please meet my first kill team
Hi everyone one!
I’m more a painter than a player but I’m currently surrounded by kill team players so I thought I would give it a go.
Very nice minis. My first tyranids infact! Had a blast painting them :)
Any advice on how to play them? I have never played a single game before 😅
Also, what team should I paint after?

Question Advice for building Ratlings Kill Team box so I can also run them in 10 a model squad in 40K
I am returning to 40K after a 20 year hiatus and I’m in the process of building a Cadian army. I grabbed the Ratlings Kill Team box as I want to run a 10 model squad for 2K games. I’d also love to get into Kill Team - I grabbed the KT starter set so I can try to get some friends to play with me once I learn the game.
I’m looking for advice on how to select Operative model variants so they will work for both formats. I was excited to learn that I can run the 3 Bullgryn that I just finished (pictured) so I will need to pick 8 operatives to finish out the team. I’d like to be relatively competitive with those choices but also have the models be easily recognizable in 40K as standard Ratlings with sniper rifles. Here’s what I’m thinking:
- Fixer with coffee and binoculars (sniper rifle on back)
- Big Shot (doubles as Tankstopper wargear option)
- Bomber (sniper rifle on back)
- Raider (sniper rifle on back)
- Sneak (holding sniper rifle)
- Spotter (holding sniper rifle)
- Vox-Thief (sniper rifle on back)
- Sniper
- Bullgryn (slab shield + power maul)
- Bullgryn (slab shield + power maul)
- Bullgryn (slab shield + power maul)
I chose to build the Bullgryns with slab shields as I prefer the aesthetic and it seems that most people do the same while simply opting for brute shield when it makes sense…seemingly people have no issues with that. The other 2 Ratlings I would assemble as snipers and I’ll build the Battlemutt for 40K marker token. Seems like most people don’t take it in lieu of an operative in KT.
Any thoughts, input, strategy recommendations etc appreciated!

Question Will Legionnaires still be playable in next edition?
I tried playing Legionnaires today and loved them (proxied my plague marines). I'd love to paint and play them, but the new edition is a year away and I dont feel like wasting time painting them if they wont be usable in next edition

Question Just getting into kill team… why is every team I want to play oop:(
Oh games workshop why do you do this to me. Every team I find that I like is oop and costs an arm and a leg to buy.
My favorite kill team I found was the Elucidian Starstriders from rogue trader… $300 for the set :(
Then I find the death korps… and they are 3x the retail price! Ugh

Strategy Hey!! Any advice?
I’m going to a tournament tomorrow and I’m bringing Mandrakes. Any tips on how to use them, what formations to run, whether I should keep them together or split them up, or any strategies I should know about?

Question Raveners proxy help
Hello! What do you guys think would be the best way to proxy the raveners using these old ogryn models.
I’m fine with and used to kitbashing but I just need help figuring out loadouts.
I was thinking a plaguespewer connected to a barrel might fit best on sledge guy,
Claw and kriegsman ogryn could be the wrecker or leader.
Tremorscythe for the miner since, well, pickaxe.
Felltalon I feel would just be me giving one of them a smaller gun, not quite plaguespewer size.
This is all just a rough idea however and I want to hear your guys thoughts on this. Plus how would I do the range 3” attack weapons for them? Honestly all I can think of is just adding a pile of rocks to the base and saying they throw those at their enemies.

The hierotek circle is out of production from what I’ve seen I managed to snag a box but I’m just wondering if it’s going to stay playable next edition does anyone know what the general consensus is?

Strategy Murderwing players: how important is the curseclaw to you?
I'm planning to make a loyalist proxy of nem claw and I'm wondering if it's worth the effort to build a curseclaw proxy, whatever that would even look like.
So how important is the curseclaw to you? What matchups do you use it in? What specific situations?

Question Best starters to get or track down to jump in?
My lady and are looking to jump in kill team. Not interested in upcoming 3rd edition if theyre killing off teams and, absolute worse case, I can 3d print teams that are forever OOP.
We aren't too much into the marine side of things, so which starters are worth tracking down or getting? Thank you!

Strategy What abilities can counter Spectre Squad fieldcraft faction rule?
I cannot think of any to be honest. Not saying that Spectre Squad is OP or anything, but it just seems weird that there is no counterplay.
- Charge - they still can point blank
- From conceal - they still have ploy to interrupt that
- Attack expended opperative - Leader can allow interrupt in this case as well
- Shoot from obscure - only if you find isolated target (most likely no) or they ignore obscure anyway.
Seems that no matter what you had to take that first shoot from them, there is no work around. My only thoughts that you can setup your medic to protect your attacker (or some other protective buffs) or debuff Spectre somehow, but it is not exactly what I'm looking for. Is there really no way to avoid at least one shoot from them? At least for some teams with special abilities? Or am I missing something?

Question Kill team Octarius coop rules
Does anyone know if they keep the rules archived for the Octarius season of Kill Team? I just got some terrain for it and wanted to bring wifey in slowly with some joint ops.
Also, obligatory mini tax.

Question Legion of the damned available outside of launch box?
Im pretty new to kill team and havent seen a launch really. I saw exodites sell out and not be available but I guess I assumed they are different than the Armageddon launch. Just wondering if the components in the Armageddon box will be available separately at some point. While I think the terrain is really cool I feel like I dont necessarily need it but I do really want the legion.

Hobby After so many years of sat in my pile of shame!
I can’t remember how many years I’ve looked at my unpainted Ork Commandos, begging for a little bit of love.
This morning, wife was at work and my son was just leaving for school I finally thought I’d do something about it :) there far from perfect and they’re a little bit messy but that’s ok :) they’re Orks!
