CS/CE/IT is not a good career to build your future in.
I’m a 2026 graduate, and I’ll be really honest here.
If you’re from a +2 science background, have a curious mind, and are thinking about entering the software or IT sector after 2026, you need to question your decision. The tech market is not as lucrative, either in Nepal or abroad, as it was in 2020/2022.
AI is changing the tech landscape drastically, and it has improved a lot. Coding agents like Claude have gotten much better. Work that used to take a team of 5-6 developers a month can now be done in 3-5 days. Basically, the coding part is solved. Decision-making, architecture, and testing are still needed, but not every project requires them. If a project is simple and the requirements are clear, a detailed prompt to a coding agent can build it.
AI has made software engineers much more productive. As a result, layoffs have started in Nepal as well. IT companies are getting fewer projects, and freelance work has reduced.
And the market has gotten worse, especially after 2026, and there is no sign of it getting better. Juniors are not getting opportunities, and seniors are getting laid off. So there is the constant fear of getting laid off, and the market is too competitive
Tldr,
AI has made developers so productive that the software job market in Nepal and abroad is shrinking. The tech market is not what laymen outside the industry portray it to be. So, think carefully before joining.
Also, if you still think of pursuing this field despite the uncertainty, I can't stop you if you are really passionate. Just don't waste money on a private college, wasting 8-20L. Move toward AI/Ml field (Study on your own and build your foundation on understanding. Don’t rely on the TU course, its curriculum, or its teacher. Forge your own way)
Help/सहयोग Scammed by a seller in marketplace :P
I purchased a chair from a third-party seller around two weeks ago. He advertised it as brand new, but the chair broke within just three days of use. Upon further inspection, there were signs that it had been refurbished.
The seller buys chairs from stores and resells them. After the chair broke, he instructed me to drop it off at the original store, which I did. I also have the bill from that store.
The seller promised to refund my money within three days, but it has now been a week, and I still haven't received my refund.
What should I do in this situation? Are there any steps I can take to recover my money or file a complaint against the seller?

Help/सहयोग Can I file a complaint on a pathao rider?
Can I file a complaint on a pathao rider who cancelled the ride without any prior notice. The history or any information of the rider didn’t show on the app. And when I asked him if he is the one, he denied straight on my face and took some other woman with him.

Nothing beats the peaceful vibe of Fewa Lake on a calm day. What is your favorite memory from Pokhara?
Took a walk along the quiet side of the lake today and had to stop and take this in. The gentle ripples on the water, the row of blue wooden boats waiting for passengers, and the green hills stretching into the clouds—it’s pure therapy.
Whether you're here for the mountain views, boating with friends, or just sitting under a tree doing nothing at all, Fewa Lake always knows how to make you feel at peace.

Question/प्रश्न Do you think Nepal will develop ?
From my side there is no way nepal is gonna develop .
Rn what we should focus on is to preserve our heritages ( uniqueness), poverty elimination, education , etc
We should not be competing with other country on economy .
Because let us assume nepal got great leaders and people also started working smarter and harder
And we reached where singpore is standing right now after 20 years
The top tier cities rn will have gone way ahead our imagination
What we should do now is to work on something that the world cannot even imagine.
So that in future at least we are ahead in something. And that something will gonna drastically improve our living standard .

I released patrojs 1.0, a React calendar and datepicker for Bikram Sambat (Nepali) and Gregorian dates
Hi all, I've been building patro, a React date picker that treats Bikram Sambat as a first-class calendar, not an add-on. It just reached 1.0.
- BS or AD calendar, with each day showing the other calendar's date
- Nepali or English, with Devanagari or Latin digits
- Single and range selection (min/max days, presets, several months)
- Native form submission, typed input, react-hook-form and Formik recipes
- WAI-ARIA keyboard pattern, SSR without hydration mismatches
- CSS-variable theming plus dark mode
ad2Bs/bs2Adand BS date helpers, usable on the server
Docs with live examples (hotel booking, a fully Nepali leave form, a festival calendar): https://patro.sudarshanrai.com.np
GitHub: https://github.com/mrsudarshanrai/patro
I'd love feedback, especially from anyone who has dealt with BS dates in production.

Question/प्रश्न NID card has a different ward number than Citizenship and Passport – do I need to fix it?
My brother made his passport and citizenship with Ward 4 listed as his permanent address. When he applied for his National ID (NID) card, the staff told him to write Ward 3 because the ward boundaries recently changed.
Now his Citizenship and Passport say Ward 4, but his NID says Ward 3.
Which document needs to be updated so everything matches?
Is it necessary to change the NID back to Ward 4 to match his citizenship?
Can he get this corrected in Kathmandu, or does he have to travel back to his home district's DAO?
Thanks in advance!

Career Choice Civil Eng or CA
So I'm trying to choose between these two. I got a civil engineering seat in Pulchowk campus (paying) but I've seen so many engineers underpaid and unemployed. Apart from interest, which is a better career choice in present and future according to your observation and experience?? Is civil too bad?

Help/सहयोग Thailand immigration hotel proof for a 10-day trip with no fixed hotels, and Agoda cancellation fee with an empty card?
Two questions for our 10-day Thailand trip
1. Immigration: We don't want to stay in one place, so we haven't fixed hotels for the whole 10 days. If immigration asks for a hotel booking, is one confirmed booking for the first few nights enough? Or will they want proof for all 10 days?
2. Agoda fee: I booked several hotels on Agoda for my vusa with my Nepali dollar card, which has only about $1 on it. The bookings are pay-at-hotel, but free cancellation has expired and Agoda says a fee applies. If I cancel and the card can't pay, what happens? Will Agoda block my account or chase me? Has anyone got a fee waived by asking the hotel?
Thanks!

Question/प्रश्न Confusion and contradiction, help me figure it out
I think I'm full of contradictions. I genuinely don't like being on social media, but we're in big 2026, so I can't disappear either. I have to put myself out there on social media here and there so that serendipity or luck can happen in my life, whether it's career opportunities or finding people so I can feel human, right? But it's also distracting me so much
When I deactivate social media, I feel so far apart from everyone else and when I reinstall it, I get distracted too much
There's also so much shit going on in my head. Sometimes I like to write poetry when I feel love and emotions and sometimes I like philosophical writing when I feel rational. Sometimes I get an idea to do something, but I don't pursue it because of my long term goals, cause I can't sacrifice my long term goals for the short term. At the same time, I want to maximize serendipity and spontaneous curiosity
Sometimes I want to isolate myself from everything and just pursue my things, but it becomes robotic and monotonous. Then I start searching for connection, for people and again, it's the same cycle, not finding the right people and those shallow conversations
Shit, what did I just write? I'm so confused about myself. What do I even want?

Question/प्रश्न Any recommendations for fun activities or classes to join in Kathmandu, suitable for a 20-year-old.
I’m considering options like boxing, Pilates, yoga, taekwondo/karate, guitar or music lessons, or anything similar.
If you know any good places, studios, clubs, or classes around Kathmandu, please share their names and your experiences if you’ve been there.
I’m open to suggestions beyond the ones I mentioned, too.

Experience in using Online Bus Ticket services like Bus Sewa via Esewa or similar ones.
My personal experience so far has been that I have had to wait a lotttttt longer than the time started via app or confirmed via call. I may update this based on my experience this time but I also wanted to know how everyone else's experience has been.
Have you used online Bus Ticketing services?
If yes, why did you use it instead of conventional physical tickets? And how has your experience been?
If not, why not yet? Just to get opinions.

Saturday Tea Talk
This is a weekly thread to talk about any topics freely with fellow Nepali dai, bhai, didi, bahini and friends. Think of it as the चोकको चिया पसल that opens on Saturdays. Most of the sub rules still apply but there is no need for the topic to be related to Nepal. Feel free to talk about the TV show you are binging, the latest sports news, your personal life story, international politics, and anything in between.
So, what's up?
