Feature Request Is it too much to ask to get Dark Mode icons?
I didn't think something so basic would require posting on Reddit about it, but it is honestly shameful that we still don't have this on Android. The level of neglect is staggering.

Feature Request New Proton Keyboard app? â¨ď¸đ
With all the new ways governments are supposedly spying through our phonesâlike that Samsung Keyboard stuff collecting clipboard data and keystrokesâProton really needs to drop their own keyboard app. Something fully local, no cloud BS, no tracking, just pure privacy like the rest of their stuff.
I would 100000% get this app the moment it's released.

Feature Request Seriously disappointed with alias login "feature" - feeling regret about Unlimited subscription
It's been a month since I bought Proton Unlimited. The price honestly hurts my wallet, but I convinced myself it was worth it for real privacy. One of the main reasons I went for it? Those 15 additional email addresses. I thought, "Perfect! I can compartmentalize my digital life properly."
Then I discovered that ANY of these aliases can be used to login to my account.
Wait, what?
I've used Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo - literally every email provider out there gives you aliases as aliases. You use them to receive mail, organize things, keep stuff separate. But you DON'T login with them. That's the whole damn point. The login credential stays private, the aliases are disposable and public-facing.
So what's even the point of having aliases if they all become potential entry points to my account? Yeah yeah, I know - "strong password and 2FA will protect you." Sure, but if that's the logic, then why do security experts tell us to use different passwords for different services? Why minimize our attack surface at all?
When my work@ alias gets leaked in some random data breach, now attackers know a valid login identifier for my Proton account. That's literally the opposite of what I'm trying to achieve here.
I contacted support hoping for a solution or at least acknowledgment that this is being worked on. Their response? "Vote for it on UserVoice."
That's it. Vote and hope.
I paid good money for this, money I actually had to budget for, and now I'm sitting here wondering if I made a mistake. Microsoft Outlook has this feature. Microsoft. And Proton, the supposed privacy champion, doesn't?
I really wanted to love Proton. I want to support privacy-focused companies. But right now I'm just frustrated and feeling like I threw my money away on a service that missed such a basic security principle.
Anyone else dealing with this or am I overreacting?

Feature Request Proton Chat đŹ
Is this a things we could expect at some point?
I do not want to use teams or slack anymore and my team uses Signal but that is mainly for personal and not geared towards business or organization.
Does Proton plan to role out a Chat at some point?

Feature Request Proton Notes - Please make it happen.
Proton has Mail, Calendar, Drive, Pass, Meet and VPN. The one thing missing? Notes.
Every major email service provider has one - Gmail has Keep, Outlook has OneNote. I know Proton already bundles Standard Notes with some plans, but it still feels like a separate app, separate login flow, and barely connected to the rest of the Proton ecosystem.
The easiest path forward - integrate Standard Notes into the Proton ecosystem. Itâs already open-source and end-to-end encrypted. It fits perfectly.
Even a simple notes panel inside Proton Mail webmail would be a great start.

Feature Request Hello Proton Team â Calendar app is still missing basics đľâđŤ
Itâs the end of 2025 and Proton Calendar still doesnât have a yearly (12-month) view or any real long-term planning tools. This is basic calendar stuff that other apps have had for years.
If you want to plan ahead, you literally have to go month by month, one at a time â which is kind of a joke.
Privacy is great, but usability matters too. Right now Proton Calendar feels unfinished and makes it hard to actually replace Google or Outlook.
People have been asking for this for years. Please stop ignoring it and add a yearly view.
If you agree, please upvote so the Proton team sees this and maybe finally does something about it.
Is this feature ever coming or not?

Feature Request Proton, please consider updating the Lumo features for "Unlimited" payers.
I'm not going to dwell again on how the "Unlimited" plan name feels misleading given how little it actually provides. But I wanted to remind again that some Lumo Unlimited users are unhappy that they get the same package as Free account users. We get it, you can't offer every single product line in full to Unlimited users. It's expensive. But one single Project, 7-day history, very limited Max usage, is so limited that we barely feel like we're trying out the tool, let alone those who are paying to remain within your ecosystem.
The latest update did bring a major improvement, which makes me use the tool more and more but please consider offering something more. Either more features (maybe let me pick a few conservations to be stored until I delete), usage, but above all a nicer discount when subscribing to Lumo as an incentive for already payers.

Feature Request Proton Contacts needs to be its own standalone app
I know this has been talked to death, but after seeing the recent Proton Ask Me Anything comments about contacts and contact sync finally sitting on the 2027 roadmap, I wanted to bring up the standalone app debate. The team mentioned they haven't decided if it will be a dedicated app or just a shared module inside existing apps.
Please, please make it a standalone app.
Here is the underlying issue: native OS contacts are a privacy nightmare. Whether you are on iOS or Android, your cloud-synced contacts are not end-to-end encrypted. Even if you use Apple's Advanced Data Protection, they specifically exclude contacts because of legacy CardDAV support. Plus, if you leave everything in the native phone address book, every random app you install begs for full access to harvest your social graph.
Right now, using Proton Contacts inside the Mail app is just too cluttered. Because there is no dedicated space, my actual real-life phone numbers get mixed together with every single random email address I have ever replied to. It makes managing a true phonebook impossible.
Having a dedicated, FOSS, E2EE Proton Contacts app that acts as a secure vault isolated from the OS would be incredible. It would let us finally delete people from iCloud or Google and keep them safe. A simple background sync tool that just dumps everything back into the unencrypted Apple/Google address book completely defeats the purpose of sandboxing the data in the first place.
Does anyone know if the team is leaning one way or the other yet? And for everyone else waiting on this, do you prefer a standalone app or just better integration with the native OS?

Feature Request Proton Chat (because of Chat Control 1.0 in the EU) should have these features
Hey everyone,
I just saw that the CEO of Proton stated that it could be that we soon (or at least in the near future) will be able to see Proton Chat because of the Chat Control 1.0 that passed through in the EU parliament. Now I wanted to point out some that features that would actually be really valuable when this comes out that Proton could develop now that they havenât or have maybe just started building it.
First it would be great if Proton Chat would have Matrix integrated or even use it for the base to make us able to choose between using it with a Proton account and backing it up through a Proton Chat subscription/integration with Proton Drive or use our own Matrix Synapse to create our Matrix account and store (and encrypt) all of our messages on our own Nas or Server.
Second it would be nice to see the option that if Matrix is integrated that we can use Mautrix/WhatsApp or Mautrix/Signal to be able to still message people from other Chat clients while using Proton Chat with people that are also using Matrix or even Proton Chat. Ideally those could run through Protonâs Servers to make everything encrypted and stored in the same place if you chose to use your Proton Account. I pointed out that Protons Servers should be able to optionally run it (maybe if it is too expensive through a Proton Chat Subscription) because you can do that already if you selfhost Matrix but users that donât have a NAS might also want to chat with people who donât want to switch without switching between clients constantly.
Third it would be nice to be able to use GIFs and Stickers and maybe even import stickers from other clients. (With Lumo Stickers that are already on Signal always available on Proton Chat.)
Fourth it would be nice to encrypt everything when it is backed up with a key that you can use to decrypt your data on new devices like Matrix offers. (this was specially mentioned in the case that they donât want to use Matrix)
Fifth it would be great to get the ability to customize the color of our message bubbles and add a custom background in the Chat.
Sixth it would be nice if Proton Chat would default to Usernames as a way to get in contact with others with the option to use the phone number if the other person enabled that you can find her by number.
Seventh it would be nice to get the option to buy a seperate Proton Chat Subscription for Chat Backup Storage if you donât need any other services at their premium plan or you need your Proton Drive Storage for something else and the option to use Proton Drive if you do not need all your Proton Drive Storage or want to use the free 5gb. (Like an additional subscription for Unlimited if it was too expensive or included in all Proton bundles)
Eighth it would be very cool to be able to use Proton Photos and Drive too, to send Photos and Files that you may not have stored on your device at the moment.
Ninth it would be great to optionally enable self destroying messages in certain chats and groups and make it able to make Photos only viewable once like WhatsApp does.
Tenth I would really wish to get a multiple Rank system in Groups with dynamically adjustable permissions. Like Admin, Mod, User and Guest.
These would be my initial thoughts for the features Proton Chat should in my opinion have. I would really love some feedback and maybe some of the features will be considered by Proton and u/andy1011000.

Feature Request Family plan size limit too low: Do people really only have 6 persons in their families?
Hello everyone!
For some while now I really want to subscribe to the family plan but the member limit of 6 is an absolute blocker.
My family already has a custom email domain and had it for at least 20 years now. We are currently three generations with parents, children and grand children. Currently we are only 7 but we will be more, eventually. Of course our current simple mail provider allows basically unlimited mailboxes so every member of our family can have a `@familyname.tld` email account.
Without a doubt joining Proton would be a good thing but it appears privacy is only available for family with up to 6 members. Somebody would have to be excluded from their already existing online identity because we could not migrate all accounts to Proton. And new family members (be it through marriage or birth) would not be able to get an account with their family name because they joined the family too late.
Don't get me wrong - I don't think the limit should be removed.
BUT: Why can't we add more seats to a family account by paying an additional proportional amount? The business plans can do it, why can't the family plans? Before somebody suggests it: The business plans are way more expensive and are not a valid workaround for the family size limit.
This post is half rant half suggestion/wish. How about you? Do you think 6, with no option to expand it, is an appropriate member limit for a family plan?
Edit: Wow. I understand that Proton has a very welcoming and kind community /s. Seriously how are so many of you being toxic about a feature suggestion that would not negatively impact you all? I thought we'd be able to discuss my idea of paying more for extra seats. Instead you are downvoting me and giving me unsolicited life advice about how my family is apparently too large or upright stupid bullshit how having a family account apparently is a privacy issue. Are you all okay?

Feature Request Can Proton release a Proton Contacts app for Android to replace Google Contacts
On Android syncing changes made in my contacts between devices seems impossible if I choose to not sync contacts with Google.
I can import contacts into ProtonMail but since there is no dedicated app I can't use it as a replacement of my contacts app
Can Proton please release a Proton Contacts app to replace Google Contacts?

Feature Request Phone Number Aliases?
I've been using email aliases and it has been life changing. No worries about spam, email leakage etc.
Is there a possibility that Proton can extend its service to Phone Number Aliases? One can argue that Phone numbers create an ever bigger privacy breach than email addresses.
Yes, you should try to avoid services that ask for Phone numbers. But its not always possible.
VOIP numbers like Google Voice don't work for verification. Some advanced VOIP services work better, but even those are hit or miss.
Surely, this would be a complicated product to launch, and I'm sure it would get higher tier pricing than the current offerings. But i think its worth it.

Feature Request My Proton Wishlist
I know some of these are idealistic and probably won't happen (server source code etc.) but here it is:
My Proton Wishlist
- Allow login username to be different from email addresses
- Improve existing services
- Google Takeout-like service to export all Proton data in 1 click from all services
New services
Proton Notes
- either integrate Standard Notes or make a standalone Proton Notes
- integrate in the sidebar in all Proton services
Proton Tasks
- Todoist alternative
- nice app, widgets etc.
- integrate with Proton Calendar and the sidebar in all Proton services
General
- Own F-Droid repo with all Proton apps (specifically for ones with anti-features like Mail)
- Flatpak as standard format for Linux
- Make self-hosting an option
Integration with SimpleLogin
- When creating a new email, show aliases in the FROM field to easily send emails without copying reverse-aliases
- Alias dashboard in the sidebar (Actually manage aliases, enable/disable, transfer, delete, modify description etc. not just create new ones)
- Alert to avoid leaking the Proton address when sending/replying to emails using an alias
Other improvements
- Categories like Shopping, Banking etc. (automatic detection)
- Group emails by date like Outlook (emails from this week, then below emails from this month etc.)
- Save attachments to Drive
- attach from Drive
- ditch the Google notification system or make a seperate fully FOSS mobile app
Calendar
- Notion Calendar and Apple Calendar-like design
- Better mobile apps
- Better widgets - look at Fantastical and other apps
- Add CalDAV/CardDAV to Proton Bridge
Drive
- Linux client
- Preview more file types (preview all text file types - .php, .c++, .res, .cfg etc.)
- Built-in basic text/code editor (look at OneDrive, Filen)
Photos
- Seperate photos into its own web and mobile apps (like Ente)
- Local AI for detecting faces, duplicates and similar looking photos, magic search like Ente
- Just look at (or fork) Ente
Pass
- Folders and subfolders
- Keyboard shortcuts
- More autofill (on desktop: keyboard shortcut, right click menu; on Android: tiles, inline, accessibility etc.)
- Actual offline mode in all apps (like Bitwarden - view, autofill, export passwords in offline mode without charging extra for it its a basic feature)
- Password history on the Free plan (i know free is charity etc. but this is another feature that is a basic feature)
- passkey export (CXP & CXF support) - id say this is the most important thing for Pass right now, passkeys are way too uncertain to use without this feature, itd be a hassle to go to every account and create new ones just to migrate somewhere else
Docs & Sheets
- Euro-Office instead of your own solution
- Ability to edit .docx, .xlsx etc. without the conversion to a proprietary .protondoc format (easy data portability, no vendor lock-in)
- Mobile, desktop apps (done if integrating Euro-Office)
- Fix Sheets bugs (its unusable right now)
VPN
- Platform parity (UI and features)
SimpleLogin
- Revamp UI/UX of web, Android, iOS apps (look at addy.io) - web needs this the most
- continue development - add new features etc. right now development has halted basically
Design
- Use different shades of colors to seperate sections instead of current white lines everywhere like Gmail etc.
- Add different themes (Monokai, Carbon etc.) to all services (Pass, Lumo etc.) (maybe even let us create our own)
Development
- Open development like Bitwarden or Ente (no internal git repo and uploading snapshots of code but actual, living repos for the public to see and scrutinize every single commit and/or contribute) (or open up your internal GitLab instance to the public like Tor Project) - source code is frequently out of date on your GitHub repos.
- More frequent audits
- When launching new apps/services always release the source code alongside
- Release server-side source code (maybe without anti-abuse logic if it is so sensitive)
- Meet roadmaps or don't give roadmaps and just say what you're working on and release it when it's ready (im really tired of unmet roadmaps, its a plague at proton)
Website
- Keep a complete archive of all security audits, including older ones
- On the open source page list source code and audits for all services including SimpleLogin and Standard Notes
- On the blog, in the Product updates dropdown, add link to Standard Notes blog
- Highlight option to subscribe with Monero via proxystore
Subscriptions
- Get more paying business clients to offset Free users and offer them more
- More flexible system - at least 2 active subs, maybe something a la carte for storage?
Company
- Stay out of politics except for privacy, freedom and democracy (stay impartial as much as possible in communications)
- Stay non-profit, expand non-profit related actions and privacy advocacy BUT don't spread yourself too thin either
- Do not stray from privacy, freedom, human rights
- Do not lock people in your ecosystem
- Don't use Substack, replace with Ghost
- Do honest marketing (no buzzwords etc. github.com/privacyguides/privacyguides.org/pull/3193)
- Get back on Mastodon (if you have to leave Threads for example - no one uses that website anyway)
- Listen to users more (more frequent surveys etc.)
- More communication from management, employees, product managers

Feature Request Why is every email address in Proton also a login? Option to choose?
Hi,
Iâm on Proton Unlimited and understand that every active email address on my account (including custom domains) can be used as a login.
I know that strong passwords and 2FA are essential and Iâm using them, but from a security/privacy perspective every additional possible login identifier still matters.
The more addresses I use publicly (for banks, services, etc.), the more potential ways there are to target my Proton account.
I also use SimpleLogin with my own domain for aliases, which is great, but it doesnât change the fact that every Proton address, even my custom domain, is automatically a valid login.
From a security standpoint, I would prefer to minimize the number of possible login identifiers.
Feature request / question:
Could you add an option to explicitly choose which address(es) are allowed for login, and which should be âmail-onlyâ (send/receive but not valid usernames for authentication)?
This would let users safely use multiple addresses and custom domains without unnecessarily expanding the login attack surface, even when they already use strong passwords and 2FA.
Is this something youâre considering or could it be added to your roadmap?
Thanks!

Feature Request Lumo Medical AI
I have started to use Lumo Max for health related questions I personally would never ask GPT, Claude etc. Being able to trust agents/ models with the most sensitive health questions is IMO the killer feature of E2EE AI services.
Yes, I know. AI can not replace GPs and hospitals. But using a strong AI model can surely make competent patients a lot better prepared to face the health care system.
Though privacy is not sufficient in itself if the models are weak-ish on health. My feature request to Proton is to let us toggle between specialized "health AI models", for example Google MedGemma 27B.

Feature Request Proton offline calendar đ
I wanted to post this on r/protoncalendar , but it seems there is barrier to post + the last posts are like 5 years ago đ
I'm not really a calendar person, so I tend to not use the app on the phone that often. I have removed the standard calendar and replaced with Proton.
Sometimes I need to check the date and when I open the calendar I need to login on everytime single time, which is process that takes time and not great when you have conversation with someone.
So I wanted to request an offline mode, not needing to login and something that be used locally, maybe later synced.
Yeah could just rid of Proton calendar, and find something that works locally..
