do y'all ever have the feeling that you can do better while already deep into making an album?
i've been compiling songs i wrote/made demos of from ages 18-22 and am making them into an album (for context i'm 23 now). i've gone to sessions to get things overdubbed, recorded a decent amount of the vocals already, and everything is essentially written. it's just a matter of it getting recorded and sounding the way i want it to.
however, i've had this feeling the past few days that i can't seem to shake off. i feel like some of these songs could be done better, in some ways that would result in me essentially rewriting the song just to have a more "mature" or "up to date" feeling. i've actually already gone through this feeling before which resulted in me rewriting some of the songs a few years ago, but not all of them, just the ones that felt unsalvagable past a certain point during the writing or recording process. i'm feeling that now for at least a few of these songs because i'm anxious about them not holding up well in quality once they're released.
i'm having an inner conflict between wanting to make this album for my younger self, and wanting to make it the best it can be for how i feel NOW. i'm not really sure how to go about it.
anyone have any advice or perspective to share regarding this?
