I don’t really know how to start this, or even what exactly I’m hoping for by posting this… but something in me is screaming to just try. Because I’m struggling. I feel like I’m drowning in this quiet, heavy pain that never lets up, and I don’t have anyone I can talk to about it. No friends, no support system. Just me, alone with my thoughts, every day.
And it hurts more than I can explain.
There’s this ache inside me. It’s not even just sadness it’s emptiness, like I’m here but not really living. I go through the motions: wake up, pretend I’m fine, maybe smile when someone walks by, scroll on my phone, eat something, go to sleep. Then I wake up and do it again. And again. And again. But there’s no connection. No warmth. No voice on the other end of the line saying, “Hey. I see you. You matter.”
I haven’t had real friends in… honestly, I don’t even know how long. I see people post online about their group chats, about friends who check in, people to hang out with, people who just get them and it makes me feel like I live on another planet. I want that. So badly. I want a friend. I want someone I can trust. Someone who wants to hear how my day was. Someone I can share thoughts with without worrying they’ll judge me, or get bored and disappear.
I want someone to look at me and not just see a person, but see me. The real me. The scared, hurting, honest version. Not the mask I wear because I’m terrified of being a burden.
Because right now… I feel invisible. Like if I disappeared, maybe no one would even notice. And that thought scares the hell out of me.
Depression is like living in a house where all the lights are out. You stumble through it, trying to remember what the light even looked like. Sometimes I sit in silence and feel like I’m screaming inside screaming for someone to just notice me, to care. But no one’s coming. No one knocks. No one texts. No one checks in.
I’m tired. I’m tired of feeling this alone. Tired of carrying everything by myself. Tired of pretending I’m okay when all I want is to cry into someone’s arms and hear, “You’re not alone. I’ve got you.”
I know this post is messy. I know I’m kind of spilling everything out here, but I just needed to say it. Even if it goes unread. Even if no one responds. I needed to write this for the part of me that’s barely holding on. That little thread of hope that maybe someone out there understands. That maybe someone reading this has felt this pain too, the pain of being surrounded by people and still feeling completely unseen.
So, if anyone’s out there… if you’ve ever felt like this… please know you’re not alone. And if you’re someone who’s made it through the darkness, please tell me how. I need to believe there’s a way forward. I need to believe that life can feel warm again.
And if you’re like me, just trying to get through the day, quietly hoping someone reaches back, message me. Comment. Say hi. Anything. I’m not looking for shallow conversation. I just want real. Something human. Someone to talk to. Someone who sees me.
Thanks for reading this. Truly. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being here, even for just a few minutes.
Please take care of yourself too. The world is hard enough already. We don’t have to do this alone.
