Some UGA fans are butthurt as expected but most are happy for him and understand he did everything right- he sat for years on the bench waiting his turn, won us an SECCG and playoff spot while throwing to receivers that led the entire FBS in dropped passes. He’s playing at Miami exactly like he did at UGA, he just has better receivers.
It’s split. Some fans (me included) realize that even though he didn’t play well in 2024, his supporting cast didn’t give him a chance to succeed last year, and it was a mutual parting of ways for him to transfer.
The other half (probably the majority, or at least the loudest fans) basically blame all the failures of the 2024 team on him and want nothing but for him to crash and burn in Miami.
There's no sense in arguing with this person. They've been drinking their own koolaid for years and all you get are sec circlejerk downvoting in response. No matter how logical your argument, they just can't stand a differing opinion.
It was because the two teams that played for the title had a ton to replace, including QBs, whereas PSU brought the majority of their team back, including QB. It's still a flawed premise anyway though, because they weren't really that great to begin with last year and just had by far the easiest path to the playoffs semis. And Drew Allar is and always has been a mediocre QB that reverts to looking like a plucky true freshman again every time he plays a defense with actual NFL prospects. Further reaffirms to me that people just don't even watch these games and just form opinions and vote based on brand recognition. Like, even NFL draft analysts projecting Allar as a top 10 pick next year after this past season's draft. Based on what, I dunno...I thought I was going insane. Same thing in reverse working against Indiana right now...imo, based on results this season alone, Indiana should be ranked ahead of OSU currently.
Watching Penn state last year, I really felt like they only had 2 game changing players, and both were lost to the draft. The committee just had to be too high on Allar (like they were with Arch) or something otherwise they should have anticipated a bit of a dropoff from them.
Generally can’t stand the committee ranking teams based on who they feel will break out at the QB position.
Yeah, there's no doubt Warren and Carter were far more crucial for them than anyone would've thought. I can't help but think that losing one defensive player and a TE/H-back shouldn't be enough to kneecap a great team, but imo just goes to show they weren't really that great of a team last year to begin with. I generally can't stand even the concept of using a committee to pick and choose this stuff. Or official preseason polls either, just leads to confirmation bias and gives a head start to the more highly ranked teams.
LSU is only ranked because they beat #4 Clemson. Ole Miss is only ranked because they beat LSU. Your two highest ranking teams entire basis for being ranked is because of preseason rankings.
I’ve posted so many times on here that Clemson being ranked top 5 pre season was a complete joke. They did absolutely nothing last year and went 0-3 against the SEC but snuck into the playoffs for winning the weak ass ACC against SMU. Yes LSU (and ole miss) is getting the benefit of that ridiculous overrating but the bias there is due to Clemson.
Oh, come on. you didn't know they were a paper tiger, either. They looked good at the end of last year and there was no reason to believe they would be this bad this year
Uh Penn state hasn’t won a top 5 game in almost 10 years. We knew that preseason. I and many others called out how ridiculous that ranking was preseason
While we're talking about ranking teams based on premonition, we know ole miss, tamu and Missouri will choke very soon just like every season. So, I can't understand why they're ranked as high as they are.
Please provide even a shred of evidence that the entire SEC “cheated their way to the top for 2 decades”. If you can’t - then take your tin foil hat and go home
BIG10 Fans: “SEC is inflated with their rankings. The rankings are biased toward them anyway. It’s a massive ouroboros ”
OSU and Indiana are ranked #1 & #3 respectively
BIG10 Fans: “SEE??!??!!? WE’VE GOT THE BEST TEAMS IN THE COUNTRY UP HERE IN THE BIG10!!!! LOOK AT THE RANKINGS!!!!” aggressively pounds chest like a gorilla
Have you watched either team play? because, they do look really fucking good so not sure what one point has to do with the other. I'm guessing you think Alabama should be ranked above both though.
I’m not disagreeing with the SEC being the best conference, but we all know a few of those ranked teams are going to end up being overrated and shit the bed before the end of the year and/or in bowl season/CFP.
What irks me is that when some of them end up losing to an Iowa or similar there won’t be any acknowledgment from SEC homers that they were overrated. The loss will just be ignored and the same circle jerk will happen again next year.
It's fucking insane. They think they've actually flipped some switch and it's blue skies in perpetuity now. Like, oh it was just that simple... just get a bunch of transfers! Oh, the difference is just one coach! Oh, the difference is just spend more on the sport! As if every other well-heeled institution hasn't been chasing glory that exact same way. It's so obviously lightning in a bottle, and they think they cracked the code. I look forward to their swift return to less than mediocrity, the same way the EXACT same athletics department ran their crown jewel basketball program into utter uselessness.
No one uses ap poll rankings as a sos metric. Ap poll rankings aren’t even supposed to rank the best teams and they shouldn’t be ranking teams off of how good they are. Any sos metric worth using uses one of the most accurate predictive metrics to determine sos
If you argue or disagree with those rankings then you have to agree with me because the context is applicable.
"Well they didn't deserve it anyway." Of course not, now that we know what we know of them. Which is what the rest of the country has been saying about the entirety of the SEC for 2 decades.
If you don't agree with Texas being pre-season #1 then you can't agree with the inflated SEC rankings in the current Top 25.
Of course, their SoS will be stronger when they're playing/beating teams that are ranked, that is what inflated rankings mean.
They have played more. The poster is only counting Ohio states record vs SEC teams prior to last years playoffs. Ohio state has had 3 more SEC wins since then. They also aren’t counting the OSu victory in the 2011 sugar bowl because the NCAA vacated that even thought that violation was lesser than Michigans 2023 violations that weren’t vacated. They also aren’t counting games played vs SEC teams that aren’t in the SEC anymore. Basically, they lied and cherry picked the scenario that makes OSU look as bad as possible.
Besides the obvious not counting the last 3 OsU vs SEC wins the poster did. It’s disingenuous to try to have it both ways. OSU is 8-14-1 vs teams currently in the SEC in games played while those teams were in the SEC.
In reality it’s only logical to count OSUs record vs the SEC in either one of 2 ways.
Either
You count every game played against a team that was in the SEC at the time of the game (OSU has a winning record)
Or
You count every game played against a team that is currently in the SEC (OSU also has a winning record)
That was prior to the playoffs last year. Ohio state is 3-0 since then so 8-14-1. If you want to trash Ohio state you don’t need to exaggerate statistics. That also doesn’t count the OSU BCS bowl victory vs Arkansas that everyone saw happen.
Nebraska fans don't want to get into this conversation. You guys are barely hanging on to blue blood status as it is.
I do acknowledge that the big 10 currently has more blue blood programs since realignment. But from top to bottom the SEC has more total wins against that conference.
Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State have carried that conference for decades. Then you add in USC and you get more titles and wins.
Where Alabama was the only blue blood program in the SEC. Until we added Oklahoma and Texas.
But programs like LSU, Georgia, Auburn, Tennessee, and Florida have all won championships in the last 30 years.
Did you actually watch the last 2 Ohio St- Texas games? Both closely contested high level football, one of them being in the national semi finals.. that’s on me though, I shouldn’t expect a Nebraska fan to understand good football.
I can't wait until Alabama plays Ohio State again. Even with two of your best players being taken from Alabama. I know it hurts being the 2nd best team in college football history. But take it like a man.
No, Alabama has been ass clapping. Vandy, South Carolina, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Miss. St, Missouri, Arkansas, A&M have not. They have done nothing. LSU had one year in the last decade, Florida in the last 2. You guys had a nice little run. The SEC has not. Bama did and the rest of the conference has been pretending like that makes everyone else “ass clappers”.
That’s irrelevant to the point big guy. I know this is hard to follow. No one is saying because Ohio State has been great and Michigan won a championship, the rest of the Big10 teams are better than everyone else.
This is what the SEC is doing. Because Saban ran college football for a decade, South Carolina, Vandy, Tennessee, Kentucky, etc., is in a league above everyone else. Obviously that would be insane to agree with! You strike me as passionate but not insane.
Ok I'll give you credence on that, at least for the championship runs. but there were for sure some years the bottom feeders of the SEC were absolutely dominant too
Bottom feeder teams were dominant? C’mon. You’ve got to be more specific here. Because there were years where teams that were bottom tier teams were better than they usually are. But that statement is a crazy generalization.
2014 Mississippi State grilling everyone and being the first ever CFP #1 Ranked, whatever year it was a couple years ago when Kentucky was a playoff contender late until losing to the big names late in the season, those years when Mizzou and South Carolina made the SEC Championship game, etc. Only team I can think of that hasn't done squat in the SEC is Vanderbilt.
Dude! You’re getting it! These teams aren’t good. But to your point, they were able to have success in the SEC some years. That means the SEC isn’t as good as it’s made out to be. Because that is what is said when a non-traditional BIG10 wins. Oh, team X was overrated because they lost to that weak Big10 team.
Yep. Georgia would have beat Notre Dame in that 2012 Championship Game. In 2011 you could argue the same thing for LSU, and in 2010 Auburn won it. It isn't like it's only been Bama for decades now
I wouldn’t go that far. The SEC and B10 will still get 3+ teams in every year until someone else steps up and anyone can win at that point. But being clearly at the top is over and has no chance of coming back.
I mean we can talk about it, but we also need to talk about how SEC teams got thrown in a dumpster in the playoffs the last couple years as well.
Washington is 5-1 with their only loss being to the #1 team in America. They have a higher SOR and SOS than Tennessee. Tennessee is ranked 11 and Washington is NR. Why?
Thrown in a dumpster? Texas & Alabama played Ohio State & Michigan closer than anyone else in their playoffs. Just ended up on the short end of the winning stick. Not exactly “dumpstered” lol.
Tennessee fans, of all SEC teams, have the highest ratio of talking about how good the SEC is vs doing anything of value on the football field. They are the poster child for riding coat tails of actual elite programs.
I have zero beef with Bama and UGA, they have done it on the field at a high level for a long time. The rest of your conference is bums and the occasional absurd LSU run.
We must have been watching different games. Indiana was baptized. Oregon was baptized. Tennessee was baptized. Georgia lost, idk if I’d say baptized, but they couldn’t move the football with their backup QB for sure.
This guy is on a roll. He’s replying to everyone and doubling down. It’s kind of impressive in its own degenerative & inbred sort of way. Guy LOVES the SEC.
Okay? You are trashing me for not being a bandwagon? Is that why you have no team listed? Just waiting to bandwagon your next team? LOL. I don’t really care about conferences but I think SEC glazers are insufferable and are allergic to thought.
True, but are we going to talk about ESPN colluding with the SEC and gaslighting the entire country for the last 20 years into thinking that one win in the conference is worth two in any other.
Rich coming from a school whose dynasty was almost entirely manufactured by the ESPN’s need for ratings. You have no idea what it’s like to beat all the big boys year after year and be told that “actually those teams suck” or “a three loss SEC team is more impressive than a 0 loss Boise”. When we all knew it was just about ratings.
Bro I’ll give you a short list of the teams we beat back in the day. Utah, BYU, Oregon (2x), Virginia Tech, TCU (2x), Oklahoma, and Georgia. Most of which we beat in their home arenas usually on or around week 1. Alabama would have shit itself to have to play on The Blue circa 2010
I'd go out on a limb and say Mizzou would be the comp they are using. Best games are against a few solid but not high ranked team's (if ranked at all) and their loss is to the best team on their schedule. Mizzou isn't Top 15 any more but at 16 its close enough.
I mean it’s not difficult to look at the talent composites. Believe it or not, good football players is a key ingredient into good football teams, not the only ingredient but a key one mind you.
We were 17th last year and got blown out by the team with the 3rd highest talent composite. If anything you’re strengthening my point.
This year Washington sits at 37th. The worst ranked SEC school sits 10 spots better than them.
Damn yall must all have shit coaches. All those high ranked recruits last two years and no natties. B1G just has better coachds i guess doing more with less.
I mean Ohio State is top 5 year after year in recruiting rankings and Michigan cheated so maybe it’s coaches (though your entire fanbase wanted him gone after the final game of the regular season) or maybe you just got your once a decade title.
Indiana would legitimately beat Georgia by 10+ points. Hell Georgia had to be bailed out by the refs against an average auburn team. The good news is we will likely see IU play a sec team in the playoffs so you can bookmark this message!

The teams playing in the big 10 championship may end with two ranked wins total on the season
