He’s always been one of my favorite bosses, going back to ds1 and seeing his broken statue is haunting.. Hope you guys like it!

I had one of the funniest invasions I've had in years tonight, and I need to tell somebody about this fucking guy.

Some context: I've been playing Souls games since Dark Souls on the Xbox 360. I've played DS1, DS2, DS3, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring multiple times each. I'm not a pvp guy, never made a real attempt at it, never had the skill.

I'm currently doing another DS1 run for fun, this time building toward a Dex/Pyromancy character with Quelaag's Furysword.

Except I'm nowhere near having the actual build online yet.

At the time of this story, I'm in the Undead Parish wearing the Wanderer set, carrying a Knight Shield, a +3 Scimitar, and a Short Bow.

That's it.

No pyromancy yet. No fancy weapon. Basically no armor worth mentioning. My fucking bow was doing 9 damage to this guy.

So I'm clearing out the church when I get invaded.

Enter Fuckwad.

Name is TaleofSpite or HandofSpite or some shit.

This guy comes running up wearing the Crown of Dusk, carrying what I'm pretty sure was either the Manus Catalyst and he's got Dark Bead. I think he also had Dark Hand, although I'm less certain about that.

And apparently he decides he's going to style on me.

He casts at me. I roll it.

Then he starts doing that wonderful PvP ego routine where he'll let the poorly equipped host hit him a few times because, haha, look how little damage you're doing.

So I hit him.

And hit him.

And hit him.

And hit him.

And suddenly I'm taking actual chunks off his health bar. Apparently the joke stopped being funny, because this motherfucker runs away. And I don't mean he backs off to heal and reset the fight. He fucking leaves.

He runs all the way down the long staircase outside the church and waits at the bottom, very obviously expecting me to chase him through all the NPC enemies so he can turn around and Dark Bead me while I'm fighting them.

I have played Dark Souls before.

So... no.

I shoot an arrow at him.

9 damage.

He keeps running.

Fine.

I go back to playing Dark Souls. I farm some enemies. Pick up some items. Wander around. Occasionally check whether Fuckwad has decided to come back. He hasn't.

Eventually he apparently realizes that the man he invaded has simply resumed playing the fucking videogame, so he comes charging back up. He runs past me and goes into the church.

And then he just stands there.

Now, I know exactly what he's doing. The Channeler is still alive on the ledge.

He wants me to charge into the church after him so the Channeler and the other PvE enemies can help him kill me.

Again:

No.

So I pull out the Short Bow.

9.

Another arrow.

9.

Another.

9.

Fuckwad does the arms-spread gesture at me like, "Well? Come on."

I'm not walking into your extremely obvious fucking trap.

Also, unfortunately for him, while my bow does approximately the damage of an aggressive mosquito, I have 400 arrows.

I can do this all fucking night.

Eventually he gets sick of being slowly murdered nine HP at a time and finally charges out of the church to actually fight the poorly equipped host he invaded.

And I start beating his ass again.

Hit him. Back off.

Hit him. Back off.

Avoid the giant fuck-you sorcery.

Hit him again.

Somehow I get this heavily kitted-out Dark Bead user down to roughly 30% health with my fucking +3 Scimitar.

Eventually I run low on stamina, have to back off, he finally gets enough room to fire off Dark Bead properly, and deletes me.

Fair enough.

I lost.

It's Dark Souls. Shit happens.

And then this magnificent creature walks over to my corpse and:

POINTS DOWN.

You invaded an early-game character wearing the Wanderer set with a +3 Scimitar. You brought Dark Bead and the Crown of Dusk. You tried to style on me and got chunked for it.

Then you nearly fucking died again.

And after five minutes of this shit, you finally managed to Dark Bead a guy whose build isn't even online yet and hit him with the Point Down.

Well done, champion. I haven't laughed this hard at an invader in a long fucking time.

I'm playing Dark Souls 1 for the second time, this time with a friend who's going through the game for the first time. On my first playthrough, I went with a pure Strength build, so I'd like to try something different this time.

My role is mostly going to be guiding my friend and letting him experience the game for himself, but I'll be there to help out if he gets stuck. That said, I still want to have fun with my own character, so I'm looking for a build that's both powerful and entertaining to play.

I was thinking about going with an Intelligence/magic build, but I'm open to other options if there are more fun or overpowered builds in DS1.

What builds would you recommend for this kind of playthrough? I'm looking for something that feels different from a pure Strength build and can be really strong without making the game completely boring.

Been rocking a +5 claymore in the blighttown, and the club troll-looking thing took like 2 backstabs or 7-8 normal hits to kill. I killed the spider lady, got back to Andre to upgrade to a +10 claymore, and peeked into the the fun house fortress.

The snake guys still take a lot of hits to kill, and with their wide swings, how fast they chew through stamina when blocking, plus the narrow pathways, it feels like I'm back to square one. I either learn to parry them, or die.

I'm sorry 3/1 isn't enough?

A friend of mine started playing and I wanted to help him but because I was on NG+, Level 103, and with many +10 weapons, I used the password system so he could summon me regardless of level. The problem is he can't see my summon sign, i placed all over the Undead Burg, and he said he could not see it.

I am in the beggining of my NG+ cycle and the only boss i killed was the Taurus Demon. We live in the same country and just some miles away. Both he and me are in human form.

I've been playing mostly Strength and Faith builds lately; I forgot how fun a good Dex build can be. This run has been no trouble at all. Just finished spanking Artorias. Now to go pick up Dark Bead.

I’ve done a few runs at this point, finished all the other souls games as well as Bloodborne and Elden ring, and decided to try a soul level 1 run, so I picked pyromancer and am on my way. One thing I was curious about is does anyone know what a good soul level one weapon would be?

It's my first time playing Darksouls and Im doing it blind, so I know only a few generic things about this game like dont kill the npcs because they dont respawn... well I was doing good about that rule until I went deep into the catacombs after the boss where its nothing but pitch black caves and I accidentally decapitated a human knight npc. Did I mess up on a questline or missed opportunity with him via items?

I'm aware that I was fat rolling btw. I put on my heaviest armor so I could have the best fire damage negation😆

Seriously though I DID IT LETTTTTSSSSSSS GOOOOOOO! Still haven't even beat the Capra demon

I took things a bit backwards, I started re playing 4/5 years ago on my free time and Elden Ring was a massive joy for me. I went after that for Bloodborne, DS3 , Sekiro (that I had completely dropped few years back) and Demons souls remastered . I enjoyed all of these and DS1 was a big miss for me. I remember I tried it many years back but I found it extremely hard and confusing I was not enjoying it. God of war was maybe more accessible for me at that time. But things change, even I am a semi old gamer the joy of choosing a build, learning move sets and triumph over a Boss that appears impossible in the beginning grew into me. Probably my skills grew as well although I don’t have the reflexes of my 20´s. I intend to play DS2 after that. So how is my judgement on DS1? Well honestly it’s up there .. it was an incredible game.. I was amazed by the level design.. not sure Fromsoft even replicated something close to it in the other games.. the variety / the Lore and the joy of the gameplay is fantastic.. Again , my Claymore carried me through the entire game, like in DS3 and Demons souls. These games are truly special and a total joy to invest hours and hours exploring , finding things running back to bosses that kicked you ass with a sentiment of revenge .. Thank you Fromsoft.. Let’s see what DS2 has to offer. I know it’s a mixed bag for a lot of people from what I read but I’ll play it and forge my own opinion on it.

Wanted to thank you guys for the recommentations.

Ended up starting another playthrough and got here in 2 days and beat O+S second try! It was worth it imo, got my sweet black knight halberd didnt know at the time it was the most OP early weapon in the game.

I was about to quit after soltaire decided to fight the weakums. The next fight I got halberd great axe and helm as the loot drop

I tried searching for mods that replace ds1's artorias with the nightreign artorias but i didn't find any.

does one exist? if not, how hard would it be to make one?
