Can anyone tell me why people on TikTok are saying that 'Jason's disability representation was erased,' when in the show his mother spends her time caring for him because he has seizure episodes, headaches, motor issues, and hydrocephalus?

Yes, I know CRYSTAL LAKE is it's own entity and not connected to the already established films. But, with that being said, the dialog from Pamela lands differently for me now.

Original Art My drawing of Jason Voorhees , let me know what you think?
I was trying to go for a mix of his part 4 and part 6 design. His mask is in the shape of the 2009 version though, lol.

Which film is worse, Friday the 13th Jason goes to Manhattan or Jason goes to hell.
I prefer Friday the 13th Jason goes to Manhattan even though that movie is severely flawed and not a good movie. It’s still very entertaining and still have some really good moments in it.

Discussion Which movie did Jason the best?
In my opinion out of all the movies Part 6 got Jason right the most
HES violent, strong, brutal and supernatural (no I do NOT like Jason being smart he is brute compared to people like Freddy and Micheal) plus his kills are my fav in this film especially the head into the RV wall or the punch through the heart
But this is my opinion what’s yours?

Binged all 12 movies in 8 days. Here’s my list…
First, background…I’m 52 and remember watching the first 4 Friday the 13th movies in middle school back in the late 80’s. I’ve never watched anything after 4 and haven’t watched 1-4 since then. A since of nostalgia inspired me to watch the first movie last week for the first time in 40 years. Then I just kept watching.
Here’s my list of worst to best without any outside bias or influenced reviews:
12) Jason takes Manhattan
11) Part 3
10) Jason Goes To Hell
9) Jason X
8) Freddy vs Jason
7) Friday the 13th (2009)
6) New Blood
5) New Beginning
4) Part 2
3) Friday the 13th (1980)
2) Final Chapter
1) Jason Lives

Love the show.
I know people have their issues with the changes to the lore and other gripes. I love it I have to say. Im glad the franchise is getting a fresh coat of paint. We all love the movies, and people seem to just want more of the same. I personally am happy with the direction it seems to be going. The acting is incredible also which is a rare thing for this franchise.

they would be best friends
I’m watching Crystal Lake and the sheriff reminds me very much of Chief Brody. The remains found in the woods is very similar to the discovery of Chrissy’s remains on the beach ,when he sees the group of hunters about to hunt down the bear in episode 3 matches Brody giving a similar warning to the fishermen going to hunt the shark. They’re both law enforcement officers who left the city in hopes of finding a more peaceful life in a seemingly idyllic small town, only the small town to be besieged by a deadly presence that leaves a wave of bodies in its wake. In the first episode when he takes Pamela to the little town gathering and she pleads the town to keep the waters clear, only to be shut down by others saying they need to money felt very Jaws-esque to me. I’m sure it’s all intentional, just fun little references :).

Crystal lake series getting a lot of hate makes no sense. It was wayyyy better than the Carrie series. Spoiler
Jason being an experiment makes perfect sense... especially for the time. Think The Hills Have Eyes, The Mist, Fallout.
The show did a lot of things right. Using the same town, the whole vibe was spot on even Pamela's look. My only issue is the sackhead could've been a little better.
Carrie got so much praise and that shit was awful. This show was 10x better... even the kills were great. The last two episodes were a great climax. 9/10 for me.

Discussion Womp Stomp Stream
Before the big Womp Stomp stream I feel it is important to reiterate that the problem I have with him is mostly his entitlement to thinking he deserves a shot at the Franchise while constantly giving fan film creators a bad reputation by constantly crashing out the way he does. He was truly the best chance at making something like fans being handed the keys to a big franchise come true. And when his early attempts at reaching out to make that happen failed he chose to cry like a baby online for years now about how he should be granted the keys and proving exactly why companies don’t interact with fans like that in the first place. He should have waited for the franchise to find its footing and be in a spot to welcome that sort of thing while continuing NHA and proving he could be capable of making something better than what JU would be putting out at the same time. He let his slight involvement with the GUN game and inclusion of Ghost Jason in Killer Puzzle get into his head and instead of understanding that a franchise coming back to life would obviously chose the safe option of using pre-established filmmakers instead of risky Indie companies that they have no way of vetting or insuring will be professional enough to carry the weight of a official project (something Vin had proven he isn’t mature enough to do) he chose to instead create a delusion that he was owed it and killed any possibility of it one day happening once Friday found its footing again with all of his actions over the past 2 years. Womp Stomp is a cancer to fan made films and has easily set back the possibility of these things being properly recognized by the company’s of these IP’s by years. This all isn’t even to mention Womp Stomp’s involvement with that Batman film that got cancelled after filming had finished with no refunds to backers. While that of course isn’t Womp Stomps fault it goes to show exactly why companies don’t pay attention to the fans and why Jason Universe most certainly wouldn’t trust a group of fan filmmakers to revive the franchise. This space is filled with unprofessional filmmakers who could easily screw over the company’s the same way Womp Stomp was screwed over yet Vin refuses to understand that and makes a fool of himself and hurts any fan of any franchise that wants to leave their mark on said franchise by being a poster child as to why fan involvement in a official capacity can backfire hard that company’s will look at when considering such a possibility.

I really like the changes to Jason's backstory, and think they work better than the source material Spoiler
In the original movies, Jason's backstory is honestly pretty weak. The idea of him living in the woods for years and never once meeting Pamela again is not very plausible. And before anyone tries to say he was resurrected after or a while before Pamela's death, that's very clearly not the intention. Look at unmasked Jason's character design in Part Two and try to tell me he's a zombie or anything supernatural. The cockroach backstory actually makes him superhuman even before Zombie Jason, which I think is the right choice when you consider the fact he's in a morgue at the start of Part 4. It makes Jason more than just some guy in a mask, which everyone already thinks of him anyways because of Zombie Jason.
Also, this fixes Pamela's motivation in the original film. In it, her motive is basically "no one should ever go to this summer camp because it's not safe". Obviously she's psychotic, but having her know Jason survived means that her motive is now the same as Jason's, she is keeping people off his territory, and she still has her Jason hallucinations from the original. The original movies were never that story focused, but I like story, and this isn't a Michael Myers case of "the less you know, the scarier it is", it's just a case of writers not fleshing out Jason's backstory.
FInally, Jason killing people even before Part 1 fits his reputation. In the movies, Jason only really haunts Crystal Lake for about a year, between the end of Part One and the end of Part 4. After that, he's dead, and only comes back for a couple days at a time until Freddy revives him (unless we believe a lot of time passed between 8 and Final Friday). The popular view of Jason is that he haunts Crystal Lake, and this retcon means the series is just a fraction of his killings. I can understand not wanting a prequel series to retcon the originals, but in this case I honestly wouldn't mind if Crystal Lake was the basis for future installments.

Discussion Finished the show with my daughter today (some spoilers) Spoiler
First, I want to be up front - I’ve been a fan of Friday the 13th since the 90’s. (I turned 10 in 95.) I’m a fan of the past and have discussed, more times than you can imagine, the ins and outs of this franchise. It is my favorite horror franchise of all-time and my third favorite franchise ever.
With all of that said - I loved the series. That doesn’t mean I think it was perfect. None of these movies have ever been perfect, but they have always captured my imagination and they’ve always been fun for me.
So - to start: They made the right choice making Pamela and Jason sympathetic characters. You can’t build a possible multi-season series without making you feel and believe in these characters. Pam is a deeply flawed character, but she believes everything she is doing is right for both her survival, and to right the wrongs brought upon Jason.
Jason being a normal kid is great! You finally get a feel for how he was as a child and why his mom was so protective over him. To me - this is what separates the series as a whole from the movies and makes it better. Instead of wanting to see him slash and kill his way thru teens for nostalgia’s sake, you want to see him avenge his own wrongs.
The additions to the cast in Lee and Grace are fantastic. Lee being a flawed protagonist worked so well for the show and I would definitely love to see him (and possibly a baby Diana?) show up in the second season.
Returning legacy characters are fantastic, but the two that truly stand out are Dorf and Ralph. We see the makings of the no-nonsense cop from the first movie in the final episode. (Did anyone else cheer at the fucking ninja-star throwing too?!)
Ralph, always having been a fan favorite is the perfectly shelled-out character we’ve wanted to see. Shell-shocked and severely beaten down from Vietnam, it makes sense that a Ralph of this timeline - a survivalist and hermit - would be the one considered to be crazy. Plus no one will ever believe him about having shot something that was a kid the year prior.
I know people are extremely upset about the addition of Grace and her changing the beginnings of the first films lore - but we only just always assumed Pamela killed Barry and Claudette at the beginning. I don’t hate Grace dealing the first blows, but I love the call back and Pamela getting the last blow. She indeed served her purpose and, while I would love to see more of her next season, she deserves her own spinoff and story herself.
Elias may have been my only true letdown in that I have always wanted to see him fleshed out (no pun intended). Back in the late 90’s, I had always had this treatment in my head that he was the reason why Jason and Pamela were the way they were, but with a more supernatural element to it instead. He made an excellent villain, but he wasn’t what I truly wanted from him.
Now let’s get to the major gripe about the series that seems to have people up in arms: Jason’s true origin. Keep in mind that this is no way in relation to the original films and lore. The show is its own separate thing. If you don’t like it, that’s fine! You still have those movies to fall back on.
Jason’s origins play a lot like they probably would for this time period. It is not off to say there were still scientists from the WW2 era still running experiments during this timeline shift to the series. It is entirely plausible that gene splicing could be done during this time. For people to dismiss this as just “Cockroach Jason” is not only idiotic, but short sighted.
I prefer to look at this as “The Manhattan Project” meets “Jurassic Park.” They took parts of the genetic code and made modifications to human DNA to make it more resilient. It doesn’t make him “part cockroach” like some I’ve been reading here have said. Cockroaches don’t evolve to grow stronger every time trauma takes place. Furthermore, it’s a very interesting theory as to why he seems to grow stronger each and every time he “dies.”
(And seriously - give it a damn rest. Commenting on every post every time saying the same thing without justification or some kind of thought-out process isn’t productive and just makes you look like a child.)
Also - as it wasn’t fully tested, I think we’re seeing the other side of that coin as well. For each trauma that makes Jason stronger and bigger, he loses more and more of his personality and humanity. We saw the beginnings of that when he attacks Pam.
What greater trauma could a mentally young boy see but losing the one person who loves them the most - Their mother.
The final episode is fan service to the nth degree. The kills were brutal and satisfying, and seeing the possibilities of what can come from the true movie-turned-series could be rewarding. There have been theories for years that Jason helped Pamela kill people in the first movie. Now we can have that confirmation.
There was still the typical “filler-fodder” for the series, but I do think it was really well done. It all wasn’t necessarily needed, but you have to fill time to make your contracted 8 episodes. The actual meat of the story and most of the subplots were great. Brianna’s subplot was not entirely needed, but I did enjoy her character overall and thought her to be a good addition to the cast.
All-in-all: The series delivered. It exceeded my expectations and was worth the wait since it was announced. I am starting to believe a lot of our old slasher franchises would fare better as episodic series at times, with the occasional movie sprinkled in. There’s only so many times you can return to the camp, which is why only a few movies truly take place there. However, this is the camp I can return to for a few seasons - at least until we get to the plot of movie 3 in a few years.
