MOC Working on a Minifigure-scale spaceship inspired by the Rocinante from The Expanse

Hi all, so as a big fan of The Expanse and older space Lego sets, i wanted to make a ship that was around 1000 pieces and regular play-set scale (with a playable interior).

There are other, amazing Rocinante MOCs made, but they are all closer to 3k or even 9k pieces. That's just too much for me, so I tried to create something that hits the same notes of the Roci, but done in more creative interpretation in order to pull it off at this scale. You'll note there's a clear windscreen and I have played with the design for aesthetic purposes - especially since the Roci doesn't have 5 engines in the show!

Question Helmet doesn’t fit?

We’re sorting through our recent bulk acquisitions and found this Lego helmet that is too tight to fit on any head. All official Lego parts.
Any idea how this happened?
Has it happened to anyone else?

Wasn't expecting to find this at Goodwill for $5, but I'm not complaining. (Obviously it's not at Goodwill anymore)

Other The Captivity of the Lego Group by the Investors and Scalpers

Almost all the content that’s pushed on social media apps is all about the value of x or y minifig/set. They speak more of investing and making a profit than actually enjoying the hobby. This is not a groundbreaking statement, but it really feels like an event horizon has been passed, and the hobby and community has been corrupted.

It’s just so disheartening to see these people having shifted the larger conversation from being about appreciating and building for the inherent value Lego has rather than purely on rarity and exchange value.

Furthermore, it seems that for many collectors/enjoyers this shift to investment-based valuing of Lego - and the company increasing production of adult-oriented nostalgia and display based sets - has perhaps legitimized some of their insecurities about the fact that they are in essence collecting a toy that’s target audience has been, until now, has been marketed toward children.

For some time I was in denial about the company’s decline in quality and integrity toward its initial mission, but the exorbitant prices, quality issues, and terrible ability to manage stock has made it abundantly clear that they are not the company many of us long term collectors grew up with. I’ve seen many bury their head in the sand on this issue, but to any individual with a brain and a familiarity with the company should be able to recognize this. On this note, their infiltration of the secondary market and seeming encouragement to scalpers/resellers ( is there any difference at this point?) clearly indicates more nefarious purposes.

I am obviously aware that Lego is a large conglomerate operating within a global economy; they must obviously make a profit to survive as a company at the scale they are at. But it has clearly been bloated beyond reason and has abandoned the target consumer in favor of “investors” (those who purchase lego for its exchange value rather than for personal enjoyment, or, the collector), and by monitoring the secondary market, ceded their integrity to the scalpers (who fashion themselves “resellers”).

What is there to do about this? Seemingly nothing. Short form content has rotted the brain of the average collector - classic Lego Internet personalities who enjoyed the hobby rationally are few and far between. I have little hope of anything changing unless people stop giving into the scalpers and refrain from engaging with Lego investors on social media.

I think it took about the same amount of time to build the Derpy as it did for her to decide what to have on the tongue.

Hey everyone!
I wanted to share my latest LEGO creation, the X-Quinjet: A New Alliance!
For the LEGO Ideas Star Wars × Marvel Challenge, I decided to combine two of my favorite vehicles: the legendary X-Wing from Star Wars and the Avengers Quinjet!
My goal was to keep the iconic features of both ships while creating something that could belong in both universes.
The model includes 665 pieces, custom stickers, a removable cockpit windshield, space for Spider-D2, and three custom minifigures:
Luke Skywalker × Captain America
Princess Leia × Black Widow
Darth Vader × Doctor Doom
I also designed the backgrounds myself!
Voting starts December 15th on LEGO Ideas, and I’d love to hear what you guys think about this crossover!
May the Force assemble! 🚀

Question Selling my vintage Lego Star Wars collection

• Upvotes

Hi fellow collectors,

I want to sell my Lego Star Wars collection to free up space.

I have 50 sets from 1999 to 2004 all with box and instruction manual.

Any tips?

PS: this is not a post to sell - just looking for advice from people who have been there and done that!

Ran out of space on my wall months ago and finally got time to add more brackets this week. Moved the cars slightly closer, added an extra two per row, and moved everything down to fit in another row. The wall looked like a pegboard with the new and old holes at the same time.

Took me so long to get around to it that it's full already. Trying to collect them all but still have a few gaps in the retired sets, though I have a few still waiting to be built.

Also, you get a single upvote as a prize if you can spot which two cars didn't fit.

This will be my second move. Last was Seattle to Denver and back. I was more meticulous then. The collection has grown and I’m being more casual now, and incorporating lessons learned :)
