Tech Support Display death?
I've had this Asus TUF A15 FA506ui laptop for about 5 years (built myself a proper gaming pc feb 2025).
This started a couple weeks ago, when I boot it up only the top half of the display works. I manage to sign in and after a couple minutes the bottom half flickers between working and a frozen image of what was previously displayed.
It usually starts to work normally after about 4 to 5 minutes.
Has anyone encountered this before?
• (CPU): AMD Ryzen 7 4800H
• (GPU): NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB GDDR6
• Display: 15.6-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS-level panel with a 144 Hz refresh rate
• (RAM): 16GB DDR4 3200MHz (expandable up to 32GB/64GB via two SODIMM slots)
• Storage: 512GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD

Discussion Ergonomic chair upgrade?
finally got the new desk and monitor arm sorted out, so the setup is basically done except for the chair.
i've had this racing style seat for about three years, and my lower back is usually done after an hour or two. bought it entirely because i liked how it looked at the time, which was definitely a mistake lol
now i'm leaning toward a mesh chair with actual lumbar adjustment instead of another static pillow thing.
the nouhaus ergo3d keeps coming up when i've been looking around, so that's one of the ones i'm considering. mostly trying to figure out whether the lumbar support actually holds up for long sitting or if it just looks good in the specs.
just don't want to make the same mistake twice before another long week at the desk

Build Help / Purchase Advice Help with this decision
First three are choice A, last one is choice B. I feel like it's obvious because of the ram and hard drive difference, but I know nothing about CPUs. Choice A is $100 more. Thanks in advance.

Discussion What will it take to standardize PSU cables?
It is stupid and a fire hazard that the cables with the same connectors across PSUs of the same brand can cause a short because they are wired differently, let alone between different brands. People see the same connectors and assume they are the same cable. You can't get replacement cables, and if you lose the cables, you must get rid of your working PSU because new cables may cause a short. People regard fully modular PSUs as the best type for cable management, but I think I would prefer if my next PSU was non or semi modular instead to avoid losing cables or causing a computer fire. How do you get around these issues if you lose cables?

Hardware Buying an i5-14600k in 2026 w/ updated mobo bios: degredation issue fixed?
Hi! Due to all the ram drama, I am considering doing actually a late upgrade for my current system, which would mean replacing my i5 13400 for a 14600k, which wouldn't be a huge upgrade, but about a 20% cpu performance uplift.
I was following the whole degredation issue back then quite intensively but I lost track over time. As far as I remember, it had something to do with both certain voltage things from some mobo bios but mostly it was also bad silicon. However, Intel claimed this had been "fixed" by new bios updates for given motherboards.
Since the cpu would be new, it wouldn't have suffered previous degerdation but the question I ask myself is:
1. Is the potential degredation issue really solved by current mobo bios versions?
1 (b). Has it ever been really solved or was that just an attempt to silence the scandal by intel and in reality, it never has been fully resolved since the chips itself are the problem?
2. If it has been solved, what was the price for it? Do the given cpus perform a tiny bit worse now compared to before, with the old bios versions?
Would appreicate some input due to that.

Tech Support LG 27G610A dim in HDR unless SDR is at 100%
Recently picked up the LG UltraGear 27G610A (1440p 200Hz) paired with an NVIDIA GPU, and I ran into a really weird brightness issue when toggling HDR in Windows.
Normally in SDR, I keep my monitor brightness at 20%. When I toggle HDR on via Win + Alt + B, the monitor OSD says brightness is at 100%, but the physical screen stays very dim. It turns out the monitor physically locks the backlight to whatever brightness was set in SDR (20%).
If I open the monitor OSD while in HDR and manually nudge the slider from 100 down to 99, the backlight immediately snaps to full brightness. But as soon as I toggle back to SDR and return to HDR, it reverts to being dim again.
I also confirmed that if I raise SDR brightness to 100% first and then enable HDR, HDR turns on at full brightness right away. So the monitor seems to be failing to push the HDR backlight command during the handshake.
A few things I already checked:
- Smart Energy Saving is disabled (and grayed out in HDR anyway).
- Tested across Gamer 1 and Gamer 2 profiles.
- Factory reset the monitor settings.
- This model has no USB upstream port, so firmware updates through PC software are not an option.
Has anyone else with the 27G610A noticed this? Is this just burned-in firmware behavior on all units, or did I get a defective scaler that warrants a replacement?

Tech Support I need help since i genuinely ran out of ideas
I just bought a pc 3 days ago and it was running completely fine , i started downloading my games and apps then i decided that i wanted to use signalRGB since i couldn’t understand openRGB and i wanted to sync up my gpu and ram to the fans and gpu cooler , after downloading the app it gave me a warning about a conflict with it and other apps on my pc and told me that it would cause flickers as long as i have the other apps opened so i tried closing them but couldn’t figure out what was causing the conflict so i deleted the app but the flickers never stopped , i tried refreshing my gpu and redownloading the last driver update and closing G-sync and then i a ddu software to uninstall the gpu drivers completely but nothing worked so i bought a new display port cable but that didnt fix it so i went on the registry editor and added a specific thing that stopped the flickering but once i opened the pc today it was back again , the only way i could stop the flickering was to turn my monitor down to 144hz not 240hz and thats the only way i can stop the flickering and i worried that if i factory rest my pc i would lose my windows license and that that it wont really help .
Ps : i use wallpaper engine but over the 2 computers i owned in my life the app never caused an issue and it was running fine before signalRGB .

• And also is the intel stock cooler enough for the i7-9700?

Video Uncharted Collection PC Port Comparison vs RPCS3
Game runs 2 to 4 times better than the emulated PS3 version. Has DLSS/Frame gen support and keyboard and mouse. As someone who was dying to play this game again on PC, this is amazing.
Main issue currently are shader compilation stutters (in uncharted 1 and 2) and crashes (in 3). But this is from the same person who ported Bloodborne and they fixed a lot of those in less than a week last time.
