NYE Vegas: Luxor

Hey Everyone!

I'm making my first trip out to Vegas and I'll be staying at the Luxor for NYE. I've already got everything booked, and I've been picking away at various reservations.

I'm going with my mom, who's on the elderly side, so I don't want to be in the thick of the streets. We have a pyramid room at the Luxor, and I know those windows are a bit...unique. I'm curious on if we might have a good view from the Luxor Pyramid for the firework show, or if we probably want to get out somewhere else.

I'd like to avoid being crushed in the crowd, ideally, so if there are thoughts of reservations that might come up on some rooftops, I'm all for it! Strat and Eiffel Tower are a bit out of budget, but I'm definitely interested in hearing about some options out there, I've had abysmal luck looking it up.

Best arcade around the strip?

Hi, I’m here for the weekend and this pool party at Strat got cancelled. Since I have some free time now I was trying to find a good arcade or just something to do during the day. What is the best arcade on the strip?

Vegas with elderly parents (Wheelchair questions, non-drinkers) – Need tour advice

Hi everyone,

I’m planning a quick 2-night (November 2nd week) trip to Las Vegas with my elderly parents and could really use some practical advice on pacing, accessibility, and tours.

Our Situation:

  • Hotel: We just booked Treasure Island. We chose it because it seems a bit more compact and easier to navigate than the massive mega-resorts.
  • Mobility: My mom can walk a very little bit, but definitely not enough for what Vegas requires. We will need a wheelchair to get her around. She can do minimal steps/transfers into a car, but we will be pushing her most of the time.
  • Preferences: We are not drinkers, gamblers, or foodies. We are strictly looking for great sightseeing, high-quality entertainment, and a comfortable, low-stress experience.

What we have planned so far:

  • The Sphere (hearing great things about the visuals and accessibility here)
  • Bellagio Fountains and the Conservatory
  • The Venetian to see the indoor canals and gondolas (since it's right across from TI)
  • Arte Museum (thinking about adding this, but wondering if it feels too repetitive if we are already doing the Sphere?)
  • A Cirque du Soleil show (leaning toward "O" or Mystère, but would love recommendations on which theater is easiest to navigate with a wheelchair)

My Questions for the Group:

  1. Renting vs. Buying a Wheelchair: Since she only needs it for long distances, does it make more sense to buy a cheap, lightweight travel wheelchair beforehand and bring it, or rent one out there? Does Treasure Island's bell desk have reliable rentals, or should we use an outside delivery service?
  2. Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon Tours: We really want to do a day trip outside the Strip. Given the wheelchair, would you recommend a bus tour, or is renting a car and driving ourselves much easier for pacing? Are there specific tour companies that excel with accessible transport? We'd love to see Hoover Dam and a bit of the Grand Canyon (I assume West Rim is the most realistic for a day trip).
  3. Getting from TI to The Venetian & Bellagio: I know The Venetian is right across the street, but pushing a wheelchair over the pedestrian bridges looks steep. Is it better to just take a quick Uber XL lobby-to-lobby? How reliable are the elevators on the Strip bridges?
  4. Arte Museum vs. Sphere: For anyone who has done both, do they feel too similar, or are they distinct enough experiences to warrant doing both in a short 2-day trip?

Would love any tips or lessons learned from anyone who has traveled the Strip with parents using mobility aids. Also happy to connect to folks who would like to join along and exchange conversations. Thanks in advance!

Last night in Vegas – what’s actually worth doing if you’ve already done the usual stuff?

Hey everyone,

This is my last night here and I’m trying to figure out what to do with it. I’ve been to Vegas a handful of times for work over the years, so I’ve already done most of the obvious things – Strip walking, Bellagio fountains, a couple of Cirque shows, helicopter to the Grand Canyon, that kind of stuff. Tonight I have the evening free and I’m not really trying to be careful with money, so I’d rather do something that feels more unique than another nice dinner.

I’m open to pretty much anything. Shows, activities, food, something outdoors, something a bit ridiculous, whatever. Just looking for stuff that feels like you can only really get it here (or at least not easily somewhere else). Can also be expensive, I don’t mind – I’m an entrepreneur and money isn’t really the deciding factor tonight, I just want a proper experience.

If it was your last night in town and you wanted to do something memorable, what would you actually go for? Any personal favorites or things that stuck with you even after multiple trips?

Appreciate the suggestions.

New Years Eve

What is LV like for New Year’s Eve? I have 4 nights completely comped at cosmo already. My wife and I are not big into the parties and clubs, but for NYE we could make an exception. We went in 23 for the Super Bowl weekend and it felt like a gigantic hustle, and I wasn’t a fan of how over crowded it was. Wondering what it’s like. Tickets to fly are over $700 each which is the most id ever pay to fly out.

Tattoo Parlor known for script/duplicating handwriting in Las Vegas

My sister and I would like to get matching tattoos in memory of our mother who has passed away from Alzheimers. We would like to incorporate some lines of text with "love, mom" in her handwriting. Any suggestions on artists or shops? Any idea on price range? The entire tattoo would say "Hold on to the memories, they will hold on to you. Love, Mom"

Hidden Gems?

I'm a frequent Vegas visitor and not really a gambler, but it's still one of my favorite places to go. I'm headed back down soon, and was curious about your hidden gems. So far Kounts Kustoms and the Shelby shop were hits, the Atomic Museum was amazing.

On my list for this trip so far are the Golden Tiki, Pinball Museum, and the Haunted Museum.

What's your hidden gem?

Best casino to gamble during the weekday?

Hello, I will be going to Vegas this upcoming week from the 21st-23th. Not sure if this true or not but I have a hunch that most casinos pay out more during the weekends than during the weekdays. Can anyone confirm this? And if so, where would you recommend to gamble during the weekday to have some better luck?

What’s the daytime style?

So I am going to be in Vegas for the first time ever in November BUT with my daughter and her friend who are under 10. Staying on the strip but we obviously won’t be gambling.

What’s the vibe? What are people wearing? Like is my normal athleisure/lounge clothes attire going to get heavy side eye?

We are going to one evening concert and have our outfits picked for that already.

Help!!

We wanted to visit our son in LV around his birthday (we live cross-country). As it took time to coordinate everyone's work schedules, I was getting down to the wire in getting dates booked (I noticed flights were filling up rather quickly).

I booked us for Nov 18-24. Now I find out that the freaking Formula Race is that weekend :( We were going to stay on the strip, but the noise would drive up insane.

Will we be able to escape the noise if we stay in old Las Vegas? What is the nicest hotel there? Any other recs? Will we be able to do any of the touristy stuff? I picture everything being blocked off.

I would love to change the dates, but its not doable.

Any suggestions would be so appreciated.
