Are there any local legends or ghost stories in Windsor/Essex?

Hello! Over the last year i've developed a special interest in malls, something I used to take for granted.
I went to Superstore in Leamington recently, for the first time in a while.
The plaza it's in is called "Leamington Mall". I always thought is was called that because of it being a plaza. Apparently it was once an enclose shopping mall. Or at least partially.
Outside of SECC, there is a sign that says MALL ENTRANCE. I actually went inside, yes i was allowed, & it did look like the layout of a small indoor mall. That indoor area houses SECC & an alternative high school right now.
So yeah, I'm wondering, does anyone have mementos of a time when Leamington Mall on Talbot Street - where Superstore, Giant Tiger, & SECC are, & formerly Liquidation World & Service Canada were - being indoors/enclosed?
Not to be confused with the Leamington County Fair Mall on Erie where FreshCO is

Does anyone have any information about the fire at Dorchester apartments on Lauzon last night, other than what’s in the news? I have a friend there on 7 that I haven’t been able to get a hold of… hoping they were among the displaced and not worse.

Hello all. I am looking for a support group in the area and am not sure how to get started or where the best options are. Was curious what groups are here in Windsor!

Hi! I’m trying to think of fall and winter kids birthday parties and wondering if anyone has had (or attended) a kids party at Michael’s? Have a 3 year old who loves to colour and paint and thinking this might be a good option but looking for recommendations! Thanks!

How does one become a farmer if they don’t come from a family of farmers? I don’t have the capital to just buy a farm, and I don’t have the experience to run one if I did.
Are there programs that I could use to “apprentice” under a farmer, learn the ropes, and eventually be able to run my own farm? Or should I just go around and talk to farmers seeing if they’d be willing to take me on as a general farm hand learning the ropes?
How does one break into the farming industry?

My Toronto buddy has been going through a tough time, so we've decided to meet up in Windsor as a distraction from a weekend that could be a potential trigger for him. I'm in my mid-thirties, he's in his early forties, and while we still enjoy "rowdy" nightlife (and electronic music!) it'd be nice to find some chill spots where we can be surrounded by friendly people around our age.
Phog and Villains are already on my radar, but any other suggestions would be really welcome!

Let’s Chat, Windsor! We are excited to announce the guest for our fourteenth AMA this election season; please join us in welcoming Gary Kaschak, Ward 8 Candidate! He will be live with us TODAY from 6pm-7:30pm to answer all of your pressing questions!
First elected in 2018, Gary Kaschak has been representing the citizens of Ward 8 for the past 8 years. Prior to his election to city council, Gary served with the Canadian Federal Government, working with Revenue Canada. He later became an administrator and transferred to the Canada Border Services Agency, (CBSA) dealing with border security and making sure other CBSA facilities were secure. He was primarily involved with public safety; including dealing with cameras, radios, threat and risk assessments, etc. He retired from the CBSA after his election to city council so that he could focus his attention full-time on the needs of Ward 8! His election platform lays out many plans for the upcoming term should he be re-elected, including fiscal prudence, safety on our streets, affordable housing and mental health/addiction supports, expansion and enhancement of traffic calming measures, and bringing a community centre to Ward 8. Gary is excited for the opportunity to continue representing and supporting the citizens of Ward 8, and intends to continue his good work for the community. To quote Anne Jarvis, "Gary Kaschak was the mystery candidate no one saw coming in Ward 8. He’s been the same as a councillor- not flashy, but solid. He’s a smart, but common sense, independent swing vote. The biggest thing is he's open to ideas, and he listens. He also does his homework.”
In the interest of developing and nurturing meaningful conversation between the public and those that look to represent us, we are happy to announce that Gary would like to hear from you! Please note that all are welcome to engage in this event! Whether you’re a political pundit or just an invested observer, all questions are happily welcomed!
We strive to build a community where fellow residents can share in active discussion about what excites and concerns, or intrigues!
We don’t want anyone to feel left behind! If you are unable to make the AMA during the advertised run-time, please feel free to add your comments and questions to this thread; we will make sure that they are included in the rotation of questions for Gary.

Im looking for the best thrift store to find plus sized dresses. I would really like to avoid the reseller thrift stores, because I really cant afford them. I am looking for a dress to attend a wedding in. I can sew, so I can make adjustments as needed.
The Goodwill near Fresco I have had poor luck with in the past. I did have good luck with Talize.
I am hoping yall can give me some decent other locations to visit.
Thank you 💜

How do you manage homework with kids if parents don't know French language?
We are thinking of starting our kids from JK but confused about French barrier as both parents don't know french.
How do kids do later with parents having a French language barrier on when homework and extra studying really matters?

St Cecilia school, how expensive is it and mainly is it worth it even if one can afford it?
Other options we are considering are sending the kids to Talbot Trail elementary or legacy oak
And spend that saving for after hour activities or tuitions & travel throughout the year.
Thoughts?

I’m looking for someone to play chess with me in the riverside. I’m 1800 chess.com but don’t care about the level. I just want to play over the board and enjoying my favorite hobby. I’m also French and want to improve my English by doing that.
I don’t care who I have in front of me. I enjoyed playing against kids or grandpa in my club in France.

This might be a long shot, but does anyone remember the original Chicken Soo Gai gravy from Dragon’s Inn in Windsor, back in the early 2000s up until around COVID?
I’m trying to recreate that exact gravy recipe. It was a deep golden-yellow colour, extremely thick, and when you put the leftovers in the fridge, it would almost turn into a gelatin-like consistency.
I’m pretty sure they’ve changed the gravy since then, and it just isn’t the same as I remember.
Does anyone have old pictures of it, remember what it tasted like, or know someone who used to work in the kitchen at Dragon’s Inn?
I’d love to find the original recipe, or at least figure out what ingredients they used.
Hopefully someone remembers what I’m talking about!

Average rent increased by approximately 67%, rising from $756/month to $1,263/month between 2015 and 2025, and renters may have to spend approximately 35% of income on rent.

Hi!
I'm new to Windsor and looking for some recommendations. Can you suggest place to exhibit/sell my contemporary landscape paintings?
I'm also looking for a framing place.
Thanks.

From Detroit and it’s my birthday, Italian food is my fave so I go over to Windsor every other year or so to try a new spot. Last year I went to Vittorio’s. It was solid, nothing crazy. Usually go to Spago’s, but kinda wanna try a new place. Carbonara is my fave dish and I love calamari and Arancini as well. I’d like a place that gives decent portion sizes/good taste balance. I know I saw a post saying Cucina 360 is the most authentic, but they look kinda upscale/small portion sizes sort of thing so I’m unsure.
Edit: Y’all have too many good eats God I love this country and Ontario.
2nd edit: sadly my sister had to have an emergency surgery today so I didn’t get over to Windsor until late and had to settle for the newly renovated spago’s .. I’ll come back next week for Piccolos and Cucina 360 but feel free to keep commenting places, I’ll try them all every pay day

Hi everyone! We’re two people looking for someone to help us improve our welding skills in the Windsor/Leamington area. We have basic knowledge and some college experience and are looking for 1–2 hours of hands-on practice daily for a week.
We are absolutely willing to pay for your time, teaching, and guidance. We have some prior experience and are eager to learn.
If anyone is available to teach us or knows someone who offers private welding lessons, please message me. We’d really appreciate your help. Thank you!
