I'm worried something might be wrong with my health, but I can't easily afford medical care. I'd really appreciate your advice.
Hi, everyone! I could really use your insight and advice. Healthcare in my country is expensive, especially for people with limited financial resources. I also live in a rural area, so getting to a hospital isn't easy.
I'm sorry this post is a little long, but I genuinely appreciate anyone who takes the time to read it and share their thoughts.
I've been working for the past three years, and I work the night shift. Fortunately, my job isn't physically demanding. I can lie down when there's nothing to do and sit up when I need to work. Because of my schedule, I'm not very physically active. After work, I usually fall asleep and spend the rest of my time preparing for my next shift.
When I was still in school, I actually passed out after experiencing difficulty breathing. I was taken to the nearest hospital, where they performed an EKG (electrocardiogram) and drew some blood for testing. Unfortunately, we weren't able to follow up with the doctor about my EKG results. It was already nighttime, the hospital was small, and it was very far from where we lived, so we ended up going home.
I'm still curious about what my EKG might have shown at the time, and I'd appreciate any help understanding it.
Lately, I've been worrying a lot about my health. I'm concerned that I might have chronic kidney disease (CKD), a digestive disorder, a heart problem, or a lung condition because I feel like something isn't right with my body.
I'm not sure whether my symptoms could be related to kidney disease or whether I'm overthinking things. CKD is relatively common in our country, and hearing about so many cases has made me more anxious about it.
For context, I enjoy salty foods, although I also drink plenty of water. I don't really like caffeinated drinks.
Here are the symptoms I've been experiencing:
1. Difficulty breathing when lying flat
When I lie flat on my back, I feel like there's something heavy pressing down on my chest, making it difficult to breathe. Because of this, I usually sleep on my side. Thankfully, I haven't reached the point of waking up gasping for air, but the sensation still worries me.
2. Irregular bowel movements
I've had irregular bowel movements since I was young. Sometimes, I'll have diarrhea two or three times in a day, but afterward, I won't have another bowel movement for the next three to five days.
3. Persistent fatigue
Most days, I feel tired even immediately after waking up or when I'm not doing anything physically demanding. However, I'm still able to walk continuously for one to two hours when necessary.
4. Left-sided back pain when twisting
I've had pain on the left side of my back for about two months. It only hurts when I twist my body to the left. When I return to a normal position, the pain goes away. Since it only happens with that specific movement, I haven't paid much attention to it, and I simply avoid twisting that way.
My questions:
Could these symptoms be related to kidney disease, heart problems, lung conditions, or digestive issues?
Is it possible for someone my age to have these symptoms because of an underlying medical condition?
Could my history of passing out and having an EKG be relevant to what I'm experiencing now?
What affordable tests or initial medical evaluations would you recommend prioritizing, considering that I have limited financial resources and live far from a hospital?
I understand that nobody can diagnose me online, and I'm not expecting a definite diagnosis. I'm simply hoping to understand what might be happening and what steps I should take next.
Thank you so much for reading my post and sharing your knowledge or personal experiences. I truly appreciate it!
