I know it’s a joke but for those that don’t…
No team since we expanded to 12 game regular seasons has finished 23rd or higher with only 7 wins.
And even then it happened… *checks notes* …once? ‘81 Buckeyes I think given my quick google gemini search?

Sparty is pretty bad, Penn State is near implosion. But the others are gonna be pretty tough. But Bowl season is a lot more optimistic than in previous weeks.
But still, you play to win the game.

Minnesota won by 3 at Washingon, then lost by 38 at Purdue.
Based on the scores going into tonight one would expect Purdue to win by at least 41; that turned out to be off by a small matter of 53 points, resulting in a very neat circle of suck.
The explanation is pretty easy, though: the only thing consistent about mediocre teams of young men in their late teens and early twenties is their week to week inconsistency.
22
u/No_F_In_Enough Washington Huskies 15h ago
Our starting QB, Demond Williams, is absolutely terrible. He was injured in our last game and our backup is now starting and he's head and shoulders better. We would likely have beat Minnesota and USC with our backup.

No one wanted to win this. Absolute coaching malpractice from Kevin Kane. I think Washington punted once. Not to mention absolutely zero capitalization on FIVE Washington turnovers.
I guess Purdue just wanted to lose more.
81
u/Advanced_Gold1290 Purdue Boilermakers 18h ago
Kevin was awful as always, but was the offense that much better? We did essentially nothing with their 5 turnovers and every other drive. Given the situation, 26 is pitiful
This was on the entire team, minus special teams for the most part
11
u/LiquidLight_ Notre Dame • Purdue 18h ago
That was a shambles, but you can at least put a fig leaf on your shame and say "oh, well, Washington's defense". It's not much and it's a thin excuse, but the offense has looked sharp enough in other games to call this a terrible night and try to move on.

u/Thehomelessguy11 Washington • Georgia Tech 18h ago
It’s amazing how much the offense opens up when the threat of a good passer exists. Jedd Fisch called a great game tonight, and putting up 38 points is what an offense is supposed to do against a bad defense, accounting for the 5 turnovers.
I hope Demond gets healthy and is able to be a good backup to Brown going forward, but he should never takes a snap for us again. It’s perfectly clear to everyone that Elijah Brown should be starting going forward.
Need to get the defense figured out though…
68
u/Itchy-Advantage-4010 Washington • Southern Miss 18h ago
You can tell by the chemistry the guys were willing to battle for Brown than they did with Temu Kyler. Schedule is a bit up and down after the bye, but a bowl bid is obtainable.
40
24
u/whydidijointhis Washington Huskies 18h ago
5 Turnovers is coachable (IMO).
Fisch did really well tonight. Much, much better than I thought he'd do.
22
u/Thehomelessguy11 Washington • Georgia Tech 18h ago
Fisch has been limited by Demond's complete inability to see over the O-line. Completely takes away throws in the middle of the field which severely limits play calling. With no passing threat, the defense can key on the running game and I think that's why we haven't been able to run.
Until tonight. Brown looked great and the threat of a big pass was there all night, which in turn opened up the run game. 200 yards by Bonner and Cooley. Much needed confidence boost for the offense overall.
→ More replies (1)4
u/TheWallsHaveNostrils Washington Huskies • Wisconsin Badgers 16h ago
One was a freak bounce on a punt. Dylan Robinson needs to pay better attention but that situation won't happen often.
Two of Elijah's INTs looked like miscommunication with the route being run. On the second interception it looks like Lawson thought he was supposed to be blocking or running a rub. He certainly made zero attempt to fight for the ball. And on the third interception Naone cut his route short like he was adding a curl to his drag route, and Brown threw it as though he thought the drag route was continuing across the field. Those I hope will be cleared up as he gets more game experience with the offense.
The first interception and the fumble are the turnovers that have me worried. That first interception was just an underthrown ball in a situation where you cannot afford to underthrow it under any circumstance.
And the fumble was Cooley's fourth of the year. It's the first one he's lost but that is becoming a real problem for him any time he touches the ball.

So Walters hires Kevin Kane as DC at Purdue knowing after he's inevitably fired the new head coach will for whatever reason bring Kane back and since he's a shitty DC it will be a free win for Washington, where he knew he'd be hired as DC in 3 years. All I can do is tip my hat it was a brilliantly executed plan.

Elijah Brown and Sam Darnold have combined for 7 INTs in the last 7 days.

If we go 3-9, we gotta fire Odom (I really doubt it, but put his seat will be hot as hell) I seriously doubt we'll go 3-9 since our schedule is still favorable despite this embarrassing loss.
How Kevin Kane is still employed, I have no idea he shouldn't even be here.
This team frustrates me so much. How do we consistently shit the bed in so many close games? Every game last year and now this year too, with Odom. The difference between losers and winners is winning these close games, which Barry Odom cannot do. Sure, we have 2 more B1G wins, but is that really saying much when we beat the worst teams in the B1G? Our goal should be Naty always not settling for 3-6 in B1G play.
I realistically see this team going 6-6 despite this fucked up game against Washington. Penn State and Maryland look fucking atrocious, and I'm not buying how "good" Wisconsin is. We really fumbled our season away with the Wake and UCLA game and we almost cooked our season with this game.
In all fire Kevin Kane yesterday and DOUBLE FUCK this team.

There better not be any shred of positivity when this team goes 3-9. They are still among the worst power conference teams in the country.
Odom isn't the guy, and everyone is going to see it when they still haven't made a bowl in about 3 years

Tbh the fact that this game wasn’t immediately penned in as a W for Washington tells me Odom has done ok so far

Damn, this seems a bit much. 2 conference wins is a step. It’s not Odom’s fault they scheduled two tough non-conference games. If they schedule 3 non-conference games cupcakes like many schools they’re 5-2 right now

We still get to play Maryland. Make it 4-8.

Never forget: Purdue secured a fumble using an ass
