General Discussion/Conversation HSBC T1 Closure

Post image
63 Upvotes

Took up the HSBC T1 card last year wherein the Joining Fee was nearly waived off during an offer period (INR 4999 reversal)

Was approaching the end of Year 1 and a took call to close this card.
The annual fee waiver threshold of 8 lakhs was a bit too high for me (was able to do ~60% of that) & while the overall proposition was decent, with some great merchant offers, however don’t think I’d be able to maximise the benefits from this card going forward.

I put up a closure request and i believe HSBC has a straightforward policy to take up such requests rather than any retention offer so they happily processed it.

I do have Axis Horizon (currently free) when it comes to a miles focused card for the time being. Did i make the right choice though?

Help Needed/ Question Help!!!! This isn't AI

Will I ever be able to obtain an unsecured credit card? All of these outstanding payments arose from Flipkart Pay Later and Paytm Postpaid services. A close relative utilized my personal information to secure those NBFC loans. Although I filed an FIR against him, I doubt that will assist in repairing my credit health. I successfully settled all of those NBFC loans in October of last year and subsequently closed those accounts. A month ago, I obtained a fixed-deposit-backed credit card. Do you have any additional suggestions??

General Discussion/Conversation It'sAlright, mistakes happen - HSBC said no, then sent the card anyway 💀

HSBC rejected my application for not meeting their income threshold. Very professional, very final.

A few days later, the card shows up at my door. Visa Infinite, no less.

Guess the right hand didn't get the memo from the left hand. Anyone else had something like this happen with a bank? Curious how common these mix-ups actually are.

General Discussion/Conversation HSBC Live+ approved and delivered in 4 days. My 3-4 month credit card journey so far

Post image
37 Upvotes

27M here. Thought I’d share my credit card journey since I’ve learnt quite a bit from this sub over the last few months.

Until around 3-4 months ago, I had never really used credit cards. My only credit history was an education loan, and my CIBIL was around 726.

This all started because I have an upcoming US business trip and wanted a card that would be useful abroad. My first choice was Scapia Federal, mainly for zero forex, but the application got rejected due to low score.

That’s when I came across Niyo DCB. Since it was secured and I was completely new to credit cards, it made sense. Got it approved and started learning about credit related terminologies like statement cycles, utilization, MCCs, cashback, lounge access, forex, etc.

After that, I wanted my first unsecured card.
Most of my spending is online, so SBI Cashback was an obvious option. Applied and got approved with a ₹55k limit.

Until then, almost everything was through my debit card. Once I simply redirected my regular online spends to SBI Cashback and started seeing the cashback come in, I started understanding why people use credit cards.
I wasn’t spending extra or chasing rewards. Same expenses, different payment method, but now getting something back.

Since my US trip was confirmed, I also wanted a card with lounge access without a high minimum-spend requirement, preferably LTF. After some research I applied for IndusInd Tiger, but got rejected without any proper reason. I’m still following up with them to understand the rejection and whether they can reconsider.

Meanwhile, I moved my salary account to HDFC. After a couple of salary credits, I was reached out by HDFC RM and they offered me Millennia LTF with a ₹1 lakh limit.
Core HDFC card + LTF, so why not? Applied and received it within 2-3 days.

By this point I had started reading this sub quite a lot, and one card I kept coming across was HSBC Live+.
Looked into the benefits and liked the 10% cashback on eligible categories along with lounge access without having to hit a minimum spend just for lounge eligibility.

By then my CIBIL had also improved from 726 to 772.
Applied through the HSBC portal, completed VKYC on Monday, and the physical card was delivered on Friday with a ₹1.5 lakh limit.

Honestly wasn’t expecting HSBC to be that quick :)

Another thing I learnt from this sub was Visa PoshVine. Coincidentally, I now have:
Niyo DCB - Visa Platinum
HDFC Millennia - Visa Signature
HSBC Live+ - Visa Infinite
Already got ₹750 Amazon vouchers through the Visa offer on Niyo and Millennia. Did the qualifying transaction on HSBC as well, so hopefully another ₹750 there.

My current usage plan is pretty simple:
Company food card: first ₹5k/month for eligible food/grocery spends since it is tax exempt for me
HSBC Live+: remaining groceries, Blinkit/JioMart, dining and eligible utilities
SBI Cashback: Amazon and most miscellaneous online spends
HDFC Millennia: HDFC instant discounts and backup if SBI cashback cap is hit

I’m still checking with IndusInd about Tiger and also seeing if I become eligible for the Axis version of Scapia.
But honestly, if I don’t get either, I’m fine with it. My current cards already cover most of what I wanted.
Still relatively new to this, so would love suggestions.

Anything you’d change in how I’m using these cards? Any obvious benefits I’m missing, or should I just stop applying now and let these cards age for a while?

Also, if anyone is applying for any of the cards I currently have and has questions about the application process, timelines, approval experience, limits, etc., happy to share whatever I know from my experience.

TL;DR: Started with a 726 CIBIL and no credit cards apart from an education-loan history. Scapia got rejected, then got Niyo DCB, followed by SBI Cashback (₹55k), HDFC Millennia LTF (₹1L) and now HSBC Live+ (₹1.5L), which was approved and delivered in 4 days. CIBIL is now 772. Current plan is Company food card for the first ₹5k of food/grocery spends, HSBC for 10% categories, SBI Cashback for most online spends, and Millennia for HDFC offers/backup. Still checking IndusInd Tiger/Scapia, but current setup already covers most of my needs.

General Discussion/Conversation HSBC Hopper - Getting better?

Post image
29 Upvotes

I’ve used HSBC Hopper for a couple of hotel bookings and it always had worked out to be inline with other OTA rates. But I’ve been planning an international trip this December and wanted to mill Hopper.

Thai Airways was my no.1 choice as the rate was only ₹1000 extra on Hopper compared to booking directly, but the flight fare had increased so booked Indigo instead. Total price was ~₹127,250 for 3 round-trip tickets. I didn’t compare against Indigo before booking but as soon as the booking went through, I checked Indigo website to see the fare difference so I can call Hopper Customer Care to request price match (even with hotel bookings I just call them up for price match - and I’ve always got some wallet credit).

To my surprise - Indigo’s fare was ~₹128,700 for the same class and same cancellation policy. Did Hopper have better rates than the Indigo website or did the fare go up in like 10 mins?

Coming to points - Made the transaction yesterday afternoon, transaction settled yesterday night and received base +bonus points (2% + 2%), received the Hopper accelerated points this morning.

Here is the anti climax - as per my calculations (which was confirmed my customer care this morning), I should have received ~15k points but for some reason they split the credit and promised that the remainder would be credited in a couple days.

All in all, very satisfied with Hopper. Firstly, the fare and then how quickly the points hit my account.

General Discussion/Conversation Is Axis M4B just a 200K points/year card now?

Post image
24 Upvotes

The recent changes to Axis's transfer partners have got me rethinking how much I should aim to earn on my M4B?

I earned around 583K points on the M4B last financial year, but with the new structure, I'm not sure there's much point in earning more than 200K a year going forward.

Here's why:

1. All the good partners are competing for the same 200K limit.

Earlier, I used up my 200K Group A limit for transfers to programmes like Accor, KrisFlyer and Aeroplan, and transferred another 350K to Group B partners like Air India, ITC Hotels and Qantas.

Now that Axis has moved these attractive Group B partners also to Group A, most of the programmes worth transferring to are competing for the same 200K annual limit.

The remaining Group B partners just don't seem as attractive to me, whether due to expensive award fares/tariffs (Hilton /Radisson/IHG), weak hard products (Thai/Indigo/AirAsia/Spicejet) or hefty taxes and surcharges (Lufthansa).

2. Hoarding points with Axis is a risky game.

Given Axis's track record of frequent devaluations and changing card benefits, transfer ratios and redemption terms without notice, carrying a large points balance forward is a gamble. I'd rather redeem while the value lasts than risk Axis moving the goalposts again.

Going forward, I'd rather shift my additional spending to other cards with better transfer / redemption options, even if that means earning points at a lower rate.

Curious to hear from other M4B holders:

-Has the new structure changed how many EDGE points you plan to earn each year?

-Are there any Group B partners that still offer enough value to justify earning beyond the 200K Group A limit?

-Is 200K a year now a "sensible earning cap" for M4B?

Credit Score ICICI Bank falsely tagged my 000 DPD, 800+ CIBIL profile as an NPA after I paid ₹20 early on my overdraft. Here’s the full timeline, and what to do if this happens to you.

TL;DR: I paid ₹18 of OD interest early (before deadline) via UPI. The next day, ICICI rewarded me by marking me a “Common Borrower NPA” and blocked all three of my credit cards with just an SMS warning. After weeks of back and forth with customer care, PNO, and ther template replies and shifting deadlines, they silently unblocked the cards but never addressed the NPA tag or my credit profile. I’ve now filed a complaint with the RBI Ombudsman. If you’re facing a false NPA tag, ask for an NOC in writing.

1. My account standing

  • 800+ CIBIL score
  • Zero days past due (000 DPD) across all accounts with ICICI and other banks
  • The only credit facility I have with ICICI besides the credit cards is the FlexiCash overdraft. I pay its interest and fees on time, in full, every time, and I never use it to pay credit card bills.

2. The trigger: a ₹20 payment

10 Sept 2026: I made an early manual UPI payment of ₹20 into my FlexiCash OD account to clear the ₹18 interest for August (due date: 14 Sept).

11 Sept 2026: My credit cards disappeared from the iMobile app. The only warning was an SMS saying I had been tagged as a “Common Borrower Non-Performing Asset.” All three cards were blocked, with no prior notice and no explanation.

My speculation, and it is only that: the small early payment confused the auto-sweep logic and triggered a system error. The bank never confirmed this.

For context, an NPA classification requires 90+ days of default. I had missed zero payments on any card or loan.

Initial message by ICICI, tagging me as an NPA

3. The financial impact

With all my cards blocked, I had to rely on the FlexiCash OD facility for daily expenses. That led to ₹393 in interest charges I would never have paid otherwise.

4. The escalation: template replies and moving goalposts

Customer Care - I raised my grievance repeatedly and got generic template emails accusing me of defaulting on “some other ICICI product.” That is impossible, and I had already sent them the statements ICICI itself issued. At one point they even suggested that using FlexiCash caused the NPA tag. If that were true, ICICI should stop selling a product that turns paying customers into NPAs.

My Initial complaint

After a long list of template replies and me asking for the exact ledger which proced I am an NPA, the ICICI customer care executive gave me the most stupif reply. They claimed that using the Flexicash facility (which is actively maintained) caused the NPA. Meanwhile I had to escalate to the Principal Nodal Officer.

My escalation to the PNO
Their claim of the reason for the NPA Tag - Usage of Flexicash facilty which I had to avail because the blocked my cards, Lol!

Principal Nodal Officer (PNO). As I had escalated to the PNO, I also had to explain to the Customer Service what an NPA actually is and why I don’t qualify, and asked for the ledger that proves I’m an NPA.

My reply to their email above.

The shifting deadlines. Once I had a ticket, the promised resolution date kept moving:

  • 21 September
  • 30 September
  • 6 October
  • 12 October
First deadline
Second deadline
Third Deadline
Fourth Deadline

5. My first Ombudsman complaint (22 Sept): rejected on a technicality

When the deadline slipped from 21 to 30 September, I got frustrated and filed with the RBI Ombudsman on 22 Sept. It was closed on technical ground because 30 days hadn’t passed since my original complaint to the bank. The RBI Integrated Ombudsman Scheme requires you to give the bank 30 days first, so I had to wait until 12 October. I had no option but to endure this delay game ICICI was playing

6. The silent unblock (7 Oct)

On 7 October (before their 4th deadline), ICICI quietly unblocked my credit cards, with no explanation and no acknowledgment that they had falsely tagged me as an NPA. Their email also claimed they had tried to call me that day. I know what a missed call looks like, and I didn’t get one. Maybe the call was lost in the same system that lost my cards. 😉

The silent unlocking of the cards, without them talking about my credit clearance

7. My formal demand for an NOC from ICICI Bank (8 Oct)

I formally rejected this half-resolution. An NPA tag is a serious allegation, and the bank hadn’t said a word about whether it had affected my credit profile. On 8 October I demanded an official NOC on bank letterhead confirming that:

  • the NPA tag was a system error
  • my account is 000 DPD
  • nothing adverse was or will be reported to credit bureaus

I gave them a 48-hour window. They ignored it for 6 days.

My Formal demand for an NOC

8. Second Ombudsman complaint (14 Oct): accepted

On 14 October, with the 30-day waiting period over and my NOC demand ignored, I filed a second complaint with the RBI Ombudsman. This time it was accepted, and ICICI has since sent an email saying they are working on my demands.

ICICI's email confirming that they have recieved the Ombudsman's Notice

9. What I’ve asked the Ombudsman for

  1. An NOC on bank letterhead certifying the system error, 000 DPD status, and no adverse reporting to credit bureaus
  2. Refund of the ₹393 in interest I paid because of the blocked cards
  3. Compensation for mental harassment under the RB-IOS
  4. An IT audit of the auto-sweep logic so this doesn’t hit other customers

10. Advice for anyone in the same situation

  • Don’t rely on phone calls. Keep everything in writing.
  • Document everything: SMS, app screens, emails, statements.
  • Know the basics: an NPA needs 90+ days of default. If you’ve paid on time, escalate and say so.
  • Ask for an NOC in writing. An unblocked card is not the same as a cleared record.
  • You can file an Ombudsman complaint at cms.rbi.org.in, but only after the bank has rejected your complaint or 30 days have passed without a reply.

I’ll update this post when I hear back from the Ombudsman, as the process takes time. I wanted to document this for anyone else dealing with it who may not know their rights.

General Discussion/Conversation Infinia - Pointless ?

I have been a credit card user for the last 6+ years and I use the HDFC Infinia, HSBC travel one and Axis Atlas as my primary credit cards among others for specific spends.

Most of my monthly expenses were managed through vouchers (~50k-70k), because of which Infinia was my credit card for shopping bill, payments, and other retail requirements.
I would then go for Axis Atlas (accor earlier & now air india) for everything else while HSBC travel one (accor) remained a backup credit card, if in case any other credit card is devalued.

However, ever since HDFC has reduced benefits on vouchers to 3000 points/ month (22.5k spends), I’m just curious if there is any other benefit that you see with the Infinia credit card? Thats a max benefit of 36k points annually.

I do Travel, but my flight bookings are approximately once per quarter. I am not sure if I can get more value of HDFC.
Is it worth it?

(speech to text converted post, please ignore any errors)

Help Needed/ Question Need advice on converting my 1-year-old SBI Cashback Card to LTF. Is the closure request trick too risky?

Thumbnail
gallery
8 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for some suggestions on how to get my SBI Cashback credit card converted to a Lifetime Free (LTF) variant.

For some context:
I’ve had the card for 1 year.
I’ve already spent approximately ₹2.5 lakhs in my first year, so my upcoming renewal fee will be automatically reversed based on the spend milestone.
I’ve earned around ₹9,000 in cashback so far.
Even though my fee is waived for this year, I really want to make it permanently LTF for peace of mind. I recently emailed the Nodal Officer requesting a conversion. You can see my initial request and their standard system generated rejection.

I have a couple of questions for anyone who has navigated this:

1. Has anyone successfully converted their SBI Cashback card to LTF recently? If so, did the Nodal/Escalation desk route eventually work for you, or did you have to escalate it to another email ID (like the Customer Service Head)?

2. Is the "card closure request" trick too risky for this specific card? I know a very common tip for SBI cards is to initiate a cancellation request on the app to trigger a retention call where they offer LTF. I am genuinely worried about trying this because I do not want my card to actually be closed. If they process the request without a retention call, I'd lose the card entirely. Has anyone tried this recently with the Cashback variant?

Would really appreciate any guidance, tips, or recent experiences you can share regarding what to do next.

Help Needed/ Question Need Advice: 2.97 Lakh OTP-less, Tokenised Credit Card Fraud - Axis Bank Reversed Temporary Credit & Shows ₹50K Write-Off

Hi everyone,

My father’s Axis Bank credit card was hit by six unauthorised Flipkart / Flipkart PA transactions totaling ₹2,97,685 on July 25, 2026, within approximately 15 minutes.

These were OTP-less, tokenised transactions. We reported the fraud to Axis Bank within 4 days and filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Portal.

We also escalated the matter to Axis Bank’s Principal Nodal Officer (PNO) and filed a complaint with the RBI Ombudsman.

Current situation:

- Axis Bank initially provided temporary credit but revoked it this month.

- The latest statement shows a ₹50,000 write-off entry.

- The statement has been generated.

- I have emailed the PNO again requesting a chargeback and final resolution.

I need advice on the following:

  1. What does the ₹50,000 write-off mean? Does it reduce the outstanding balance, or can the bank still recover it?

  2. What should I do about the generated statement and upcoming payment due date?

  3. Can Axis Bank revoke temporary credit while the fraud dispute and RBI Ombudsman complaint are pending?

  4. Has anyone successfully obtained a full reversal for similar OTP-less, tokenised transactions?

I would really appreciate guidance from anyone who has faced a similar situation with Axis Bank. The disputed amount is substantial, and I want to understand the right steps to take next.

Thank you.

General Discussion/Conversation SBM Bank credit cards closure

I have/had two SBM FD Based Credit cards, Novio and Zet, which I took for building credit score. With the recent change in terms and conditions, I mailed them to close both the cards without any penalty. ( RBI rules says, you can close CC without any penalty if you are not okay with change in TnC ). I received refund of SBM ZET credit card FD with penalty deducted, mailed them again and received deducted penalty as well, so it's done and dusted.

But the NOVIO is headache, it's been 20 days since i mailed, no response, on top that I'm receiving calls from private numbers asking why are you closing card? And saying many other irrelevant things in threatening tone. Such a huge difference in teams of 2 CCs of same bank.

If anyone is planning to build credit score with FD CCs, go for major banks not these small banks who runs promotional campaigns on twitter/reddit saying if you open FD CC, you'll get 400/500 cashback etc etc.

After listening to threatening tone of that Novio person, i feel even my data is not safe with this bank. Be wise go for major banks

Card & Merchant Offers Need help: SBI Credit Card refund of ₹1.28 lakh not received – Has anyone faced this?

I made a purchase from Croma (Infiniti Retail Limited) on 26 September 2026 for ₹1,28,599 using my SBI credit card.
Croma claims the refund was initiated on 29 September 2026 and has shared an ARN. However, the amount has still not been credited to my credit card account.
Croma asked me to provide my bank statement as proof that I hadn’t received the refund. I shared it, but the issue remained unresolved.
I raised a dispute with SBI Card (Service Request No. 1419178484444). SBI asked me to submit:
1. A credit note mentioning the last two digits of my card, merchant name, refund amount and refund date.
2. A merchant confirmation letter mentioning the merchant name, disputed amount and last two digits of my card.
Croma has now provided the documents and ARN (202663743251032). I submitted the credit note, merchant confirmation letter, refund SMS messages, original invoice and purchase transaction confirmation email to SBI Card. Despite submitting everything, I received another SMS asking for the same documents, so I sent them again.
My questions:
● Has anyone faced a similar issue with SBI Card, where the merchant claims the refund was processed but the money never arrives?
● How did you eventually get your money back?
● Did SBI resolve it through a chargeback, or did you have to escalate to the RBI Ombudsman or Consumer Forum?
● Did providing the ARN help SBI trace the refund? How long did it take?
● What escalation route worked for you, and what should I do next?
₹1.28 lakh is a substantial amount for me. I have submitted all the requested documents, but I’m still waiting for the money and a proper resolution.
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through this and successfully recovered their money. Please share the steps you took and how the issue was finally resolved.

Help Needed/ Question HSBC CC application Rejection

Post image
3 Upvotes

In my case.

Tried last week and got rejected as employment couldn’t be verified.
I’m getting a constant payout from the broker to my savings account and selected salaried, as it asks for less information than self-employed. Gave the broker address as office address . But for the office mail ID, I gave my personal mail ID. (i have Clg mail id still active and receives mails too)

And one more thing is when I entered the office name. It is not their in their list of companies they tie up with.

Now I have sent an email stating that I have a consistent payout from the firm and a good CIBIL score. So please provide me cc.

I applied for a basic cc - Rupay cashback cc

Any idea if they will consider my application again?
