Suggestions Nodal.gg - Game recommender with interactive visual map + personalized recommendations (I'd love your feedback)

Hey everyone, I’ve been working on a game discovery site and finally feel like it’s ready to share: https://nodal.gg/

I’ve always been surprised how hard it is to find genuinely good game recommendations on Steam, so I tried building something better using my stats/ML background.

My main takeaway was that “similar games” usually means two different things:

  • Similar in content: mechanics, themes, setting, genre, tags
  • Similar in audience: games played by the same people, even if the genres are different

So if you want recs for Cyberpunk 2077, you might mean “more cyberpunk vibe” (e.g., Cloudpunk) or “same audience overlap” (e.g., The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt / Fallout 4). The site lets you switch between those modes or blend them.

What you can do

  • Search any Steam game and see a ranked list of similar games using:
    • a content model (tag-driven similarity)
    • a community model (player behavior only, no tags)
    • a blended view (mix of both)
  • Re-rank results with sliders for popularity, rating, and release date
  • Plug in a Steam ID (public profiles only) to get personal recommendations and some cool stats about your play history
  • Explore an interactive 2D game map that visually clusters games by tags (uses UMAP dimensionality reduction - inspired by Connected Papers)

Desktop works best right now. Mobile is functional but I’m still refining it.

If you try it, I’d love to hear anything: whether the recommendations felt accurate, if the UI was confusing, any bugs you run into. All feedback helps!

Thanks!

Suggestions SteamPeek.hu - Indie friendly game discovery tool

Post is allowed by the mods.

Hello, this is my website: https://steampeek.hu/ - SteamPeek, the indie friendly game discovery website.

It is now more than 5 years old, and it was created to bring spotlight to indie gems, help all indie teams who doesn't have the budget to make big marketing campaigns, and make it easier to find nice games made by passionate solo developers or small teams.

The main function is searching by similarity: just search for a game you like, and browse the results. You can also filter and sort by special parameters.

You can also search by tags, or mix them with the chosen game.

The main algorithm was updated recently and I'm very curious how well it works. Please let me know.

I'm very thankful if you try it, and share with me what you find. The full site is still on beta, and I'm constantly work on it, so every feedback helps me and my mission. Thank you!

Looking for 2 Player Couch Co-op Games for PS5 or Switch. Feels like we’re running out of options.

Looking for recommendations for 2 player couch co-op based on previous games we have enjoyed. Our favorite games are the borderlands series as we’ve played all the games. We’ve also really enjoyed it takes two, split fiction, sackboy, Minecraft (for phases), and resident evil 5. I really loved overcooked, and I did not hate reanimal however my fiancé did not love either of them.

Games we played and did not love: The quarry, resident evil 6, untitled goose game, gears of war, super mario brothers wonder (switch), the new Lego Batman, a way out, cat quest (can’t remember which #)

Also as a note I have tried endlessly and failed to get my fiancé to play Stardew valley with me but he has 0 interest.

Any recs would be greatly appreciated as I feel like we’re running out of games to choose 😭

Also no hate to any of the games we listed- just we didn’t personally love them

Looking for a Third Person Solo Dungeon Crawler

Looking for recommendations/suggestions for a dungeon crawler style game that plays something along the lines of Crimson Moon or even Mistfall Hunter.

Im looking for a dungeon crawler like the classics of Gauntlet Legends, but with a bit more to it than going from point a to b. I want something Im able to play solo, and has classes. It doesnt need to play like an ARPG exactly like Crimson Moon, but Im more so looking for something in that area when it comes to movement and style, in a 3rd person view specifically.

I get bored really fast if i play alone, suggest me games that will keep me engaged when playing solo?

I tend to get bored pretty quickly when playing games alone, so I’m looking for some games that can actually keep me hooked for a long time.

(i own an xbox series s and a gaming laptop i5 12500h rtx 4060)

I’m open to any genre, whether it’s open-world games, RPGs, survival games, horror, or anything else, but i prefer survival games and RPG the most. (Last games that kept me engaged were stardew valley, dont starve together and modded minecraft)

I just want something that keeps me engaged and makes me want to come back and play more, even when I’m playing solo.

What are some games that you’ve spent hours playing without getting bored? I’d love to hear your recommendations!

Looking for an Open World RPG with Character Creation, Leveling, and Magic

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a new game to sink my teeth into and would love some recommendations. Here is what I'm looking for:

Open World: I want a big map to freely explore.

Character Creation: Being able to build and customize my own character is a must.

Progression/Leveling: Classic RPG mechanics where I can level up my character over time.

Something like Lost Ark :)

Good sandbox games, preferably first\ third person

By 'sandbox' I don't just mean 'open world', there's a fine line between them, I think. A sandbox doesn't necessarily have a central plot, you're just spawned into the game world and you can do whatever the gameplay allows you.

Here I'm thinking of games like Stellaris, Kenshi, Mount&Blade, Crusader Kings, Project Zomboid, Green Hell, The Long Dark (sure, the latter two have a central plot, but they literally have sandbox mode, too) but not games like Skyrim. Sure, Skyrim's got an open world, loads of sandbox features, and you can ignore the main quest, but, like I've said, there's a fine line between an open world game and an sandbox. A sandbox is all opened up from the start, so you just need the money\ skill\ brains to benefit from it, or you need to unlock features through progressing your skills\ tech tree. In games like Fallout or Skyrim you need to progress through the main quest to unlock all the locations, items, features, etc. That's what I think the difference is.

Thank you.

Games with 90's vibes?

I know the title is extremely vague and not really helpful I admit but I'm looking for games that have a specific vibe of the 90's. Recently I've been finding more and more YouTube videos with office buildings as the background with "atmospheric" or drum and bass style music playing.

The only kind of thing I can really think of with this kind of aesthetic is F.E.A.R which has a good chunk of levels set in office spaces. I'm hoping that someone else has encountered this nostalgia and found some stuff I might have not thought of, any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Games like Tony Hawks Underground 1+2

Looking for something that plays like Tony Hawks Underground with the story progression. I like the goofy antics of missions like "Hey we need to turn all these lights off, go grind around the telephone wires and break the transformers." Would prefer something more modern. I have a PS5, Series X, switch 2, and PC so console doesn't matter.

Puzzle/detective games that I can “play” away from the game

I enjoy puzzle games, but spatial puzzles can feel a little tedious. I’m looking for something broader that I can think about away from actively playing the game - kind of like a mystery game but preferably something where I can formulate ideas and come back to the game to explore them.

The closest thing I can think of is Chants of Sennarr which has higher level puzzles where you experience some things and then need to piece together the language, although it’s difficult for me to remember the symbols and plan moves offline.

Does anything like this exist?

Games like Diablo but NOT top-down POV

I just cant stand the top-down POV style of games, but love the idea of a game like diablo. Tons of dungeons with RNG-Based loot, hundreds of different builds, etc.

Best game ive found is the Remnant series, and while very very simplistic in its build variety (its all guns), I would like another game like it. I guess the main thing im looking for is the opportunity to play a dungeon 100s of times, and still have a chance to NOT get the weapon im looking for (very grindy)

Ive tried borderlands but its a similar issue with remnant in that the build "variety" all boils down to different types of guns

Looking for shooters with a good solo campaign that aren't too demanding specs wise?

So, first of all, I'm not too tech savy (as in, idk much about graphics cards and RAM and stuff) but I do know my laptop specs are not that good.

(Pasting here what the system info says

13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-13420H (2.10 GHz), 8.00 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU (6 GB) Intel(R) UHD Graphics (128 MB))

I'm just looking for a fun shooter (doesn't matter if it's old) that will run well enough to be playable and enjoyable lol

Long sessions but long breaks, easy to remember

Sup. I serve in the military with 24 hours shifts plus whenever I needed above that. So sometimes I can play games almost whole day, but with inconsistent breaks for a few days up to a week. This makes me forget what I wanted to do in the previous session, what was interested about all this quests in the journal, what these items in my inventory are for.

So I don't play new games I'm really exited about like Cyberpunk2077, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 or Baldur's Gate 3 saving it for later when I'll get back home.

So I'd like find games that are immersive, with reasonably good story, but not overwhelm the player with multiple things going on simultaneously, I'm looking something easy to remember after a 3-5 days break.

List of games I played and enjoyed: Dishonored 1/2/DotO, Deus Ex HR/MD, Morrowind, Fallout NW, The Witcher 2/3, Dragon Age Origins, Kingdom Come Deliverance 1, Mass Effect 1/2/3, The Last Of Us 1/2, Metro 1/2/3, Ghostrunner 1.

Basically I like immersive singleplayer 1st person view games, with more serious tone and atmosphere. But any good game that can be enjoyed in my circumstances will do.

I guess it has to be something like Half-Life with little to no side exploring, co crafting, no resource management, no complex mechanics, just a story driven adventure.

Store owner simulators with good artstyle

I'm looking for a game where you manage a store, similar to TCG shop sim.

I've played TCG shop sim., Roadside research, Anime shop sim., Retro rewind. I like the gameplay, but I hate how they look, janky models and animations straight from the asset store.

I don't care if the game is 2D or 3D, I just want for a game to look good and have gameplay loop similar to games listed above. I'd also like if you could hold more than 1 item at a time

Looking for COD-Like/Gunsmith FPS that's Lightweight and Cheap/Free

• Upvotes

Basically looking for anything that's similar to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2019

I'm absolutely addicted to it but it's got an INSANE storage requirement and price, many of my friends play on Geforce NOW because of limited storage space and the game isn't available there either

I might suggest them Combat Master, it is such a goofy copy that it's also pretty fun, but I'm looking for other options

It must have a Gunsmith-like system and Multiplayer PvP please, big part of what I love about this CoD rather than the old ones is the weapon customization

What games have you guys sunk hundreds of hours into?

Looking for PC games with hundreds of hours of content and satisfying long-term progression.

Ideally something with lots of unlocks, upgrades, crafting, loot, or progression systems that keep you coming back. Preferably enjoyable solo.

Open to any genre, mainstream or underrated. Just looking for games that can genuinely keep someone hooked for 300–500+ hours. Closest I ever got was like 150 hours on Factorio and The Binding of Isaac.

Pixel Art Games I MUST play?

Docked Switch 2 games for player with poor eyesight?

Hi! I got a switch 2 a few months ago and would love to play in docked mode, but due to vision issues, I really struggle with reading text and distinguishing small details on a TV screen. I really enjoy life sims and strategy games and anything with a good story. Open to any suggestions, though!

I am looking for games with any/all of the following:

-adjustable text size or text voiceover

-low text in general

-high color contrast (if game uses muted colors, high light/dark contrast)

-avoids inventories with tiny items, or items that look similar

-if game has combat, easy ability to track and aim at enemies

Games I've enjoyed in the past on handheld/PC:

-No Man's Sky

-Outer Wilds

-Civ 6

-Oregon Trail

-Sims 3

-Stardew Valley

-Cities: Skylines

-The Forest

-Hogwarts: Legacy

-Stray

-Green Hell

-The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood

Looking for Crafting/Building/Sandbox Style game.

I’ve really enjoyed crafting and building in games lately. Bonus points for top down POV or 3rd person.

Played Palworld, Project Zomboid (would have loved this, just seems too antiquated and couldn’t get used to isometric or mods) , and numerous other sandbox style games I’ve enjoyed.

Looking for a co-op game to play after finishing Dying Light

My friend and I have been working our way through all the Dying Light games on PC and have loved it (despite the games flaws) We are fast approaching the end of The Beast and need a new game. We love the exploration and combat, the weapon crafting is a bonus. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
