There are lots of people giving guides for newcomers on how to get into the series. I figured I’d make a simple graphic specifically for people wanting to get into Ravenous as easily as possible.

No Prime, no spin offs, no side games (though I highly recommend the Prime Trilogy one day if you enjoy your time with the 2D games). Just the core 2D series.

If you own a Switch and have NSO, this journey will be super easy for you. Metroid 2 being your biggest hurdle.

Path is blocked in one way and door is inaccessible. Did I mess up my game?

I either instantly get grabbed when I slide and hold down even though it's stunned, or randomly die from full health after passing it? Is this an anti-piracy thing or something?

So every time I go through the second tower I always get stuck here, and it's really frustrating because it's like 20+ minutes per attempt to get back here

What the fuck is this attack and how do I avoid it

As you can tell, I suck at this game. So far the bosses haven’t been that hard, but the level of precision I need to beat this boss is clearly something I’m lacking. I’ll add a video of one of my attempts since it’s pretty funny to watch tbh.

I actually did beat it once, but then I panicked and failed the escape section afterwards… like I said, I suck at this game lmao. But I’m having fun regardless.

EDIT: Beat it, thanks y’all. I didn’t go back and get any missiles or energy tanks I missed like some of you suggested, but it’s good I know to look for them (unless I’m at a point of no return on the space pirates ship and won’t be able to go back for them, in that case, whoops).

Fell down some sort of trap pit while trying to grab an Energy Tank. Now I’m trapped in a room with loads of annoying frogs and also these goblins that jump up the wall.

Hi everyone, I want to start the Metroid series and I noticed something strange: on Switch, from the Metroid Prime series, there’s only the remastered version of the first game and the 4th one.

In the future I’ll probably play the remaster of the first one, and maybe on my modded Wii I’ll play Prime 2 and 3 (although my nunchuk has serious drift issues so I’m not sure I’ll be able to right away).

In the meantime, I was thinking of starting with Fusion and Super Metroid, which both really appeal to me.

So my questions are:

are there any plans to bring Prime 2 and 3 to Switch (so I can play them all on the same console)?

are the Prime games connected, or can they be played separately?

overall, does the Metroid series have a specific order, or is each game mostly independent?

I’m playing metroid fusion, my first ever metroid game and this spider is body slamming the life out of me. I can not win. Nothing in this game has been hard, until now. It’s like the difficulty jumped from easy to impossible

I recommend the Famicom Version Because it's basically a slight remaster as it was a slightly stronger system that had better sound quality and also could has built in saving rather than passwords and forcing you to use save states

Plus it doesn't change the experience really at all and there's never anything important in dialogue

I think I found all upgrades available to me at the moment. I beat Kraid. Unsure really where to go from here. Saw a pterodactyl looking thing but idk where it could be. Probably where that yellow marker is but everything I try to open (green and white doors) I can't with what I have

Edit: I'm playing Metroid Re: Zero Mission. TLDR, my friend usually recommends me QoL/Bug Fix etc type hacks for my first time playing various games that he plays and when he recommended I play Metroid he told me to play Zero Mission since it's a remake of the first game so I told him to give me the usual QoL/Bug Fix type hack he usually gives me. I guess he was wrong on this one from what others have said

Playing this for the first time... yay!

This is from a non 1% save file (as I was lazy to do one and had a near Ridley one on hand), however the strategy is the same, as no resources were used, and no damage was taken.

You want to essentially space jump in the corner, and hold you Beam Button permanently. Do not let go of it ever!!! The way to release the beam is to shortly tap the missile button, you will see in the video that briefly missiles are active each charge beam shot.

So in short: Keep Space Jumping + always hold charge beam (B Button) + release by briefly tapping Missile (R-Button).

It takes some practice to do it damageless but anyone can pretty much do it.

If you are even more skilled than I, do diagonal shots as diagonal shots do wastly more damage per frame on Neo Ridley.

For those unaware Neo Ridley is one of the hardest bosses on 1%. Nightmare can be cheesed in a loop for instance, and its Phase 1 can be “skipped” essentially, making it much easier than Neo Ridley who (without this cheese) requires an insane amount of frame perfect reactions.

Happy hunting on your 1% runs. And dont get killed by the Core X or Ridleys tail, it still does damage even in its death animation!!!!

Managed to Spider Ball into this area from the right side to get the missile upgrade but don't yet have the screw attack to get back out, do I need to reset?

So, I’ve been playing fusion on an emulator today, and I just encountered Nightmare. Now, I knew that Nightmare was considered the hardest boss in Fusion, but I was really overconfident at the time, even so that I deleted all my save states to make room for a save state on this fight. However, I had made the grave mistake of savestating on 1 E Tank and 90 energy, with a near-unavoidable attack upon reloading the savestate.
Now, usually a clever player would assume to die and load their nearest save. HOWEVER, my overconfident ass decided to not save after nettori because I had savestates.
So yeah, I’m basically stuck on a 5-hit Nightmare run now. Is there like, a cheese strat for nightmare orrrrr???

I blew through the blue floor with bombs and fell a long way past yellow lava and a green flying enemy. But now I'm stuck I can't blast though the floor or walls. I can't even really search for help properly because I don't know what this room is called. Please help me

I haven’t had fun in days but I feel like if I use a guide, I’m cheating and don’t deserve to win. Every time I turn on the game, I just go back and forth not making progress, feeling like shit. I don’t know whether to use a guide or just give up. What would you do?

In Dread, the Chozo soldier keeps getting me when I’m airborne like this. Am i triggering this behavior or am I just unlucky with where/when he does this move?
