Question (N17) Astartes

Hey everyone! I’m interested in running a small five-man squad of Iron Warriors in Necromunda and wanted to get some advice on how to make it work.
The idea is to have them operate as an elite insurgent strike team within a hive city, fighting in close quarters, conducting raids, and potentially interacting with or manipulating the local gangs.
I’m not trying to run a full Space Marine army in Necromunda. I specifically want to capture the feeling of five heavily armed, genetically enhanced siege specialists operating behind enemy lines.
How would you approach balancing a five-man Astartes squad against a regular Necromunda gang? Would you use custom profiles, extremely high credit costs, or special scenario rules?
I’d especially appreciate advice from anyone who has experimented with Space Marines or other elite custom factions in Necromunda. I want them to feel like genuine Iron Warriors without making the game completely unfair for everyone else.

Question (N17) Corpse Grinders Cult in N23 and Chaos Spawn

I've bought the Corpse Grinder Cult Gang. Is it a fun gang to play against in N23? I dunno if they were OP or not.

Also, could I use a Chaos Spawn with them in that edition? I think I can in N26 but I'm not sure in N23.

Finally, Is one box all you need to play them and have all the options? Cause I haven't found any more minis like Goliaths do, for example.

Thanks in advance!

Question (N26) Back for more help

I'm very grateful for the help I received the other day identifying some models from Golden Demon 2025. I've managed to identify two of the Necromunda models from this year but these other two have stumped me. Could anyone tell me what these models are please?

If you'd like to see the rest of my article, you can check it out here: https://warhammer40k.wiki.gg/wiki/Golden_Demon_2026:_Adepticon. There's also a link in the page to the full results including AoS, Middle Earth etc. Thanks!

Question (N26) Measuring distance and solid terrain (N26)

So, being both the Delaque player and the Arbitrator of our upcoming campaign I wanna pick your brains on some of the less than obvious rules in the Core Rulebook.

You can't measure through solid, or impassable, terrain. You measure base to base.

Why I ask is because how this would affect stuff like Infiltrate, Leash range, and Wyrd.

Infiltrate has 9" from enemies and without line of sight. Is that through solid terrain, or around?

Why does it matter? Because if I get to pick two advances on my Psy-Gheists then I could pick Infiltrate and Freeze time. (Yes, I am that player...) And suddenly it is really freaking important to be clear and fair.

Because if both are "measure around" I can get them much closer and shield my own fighters better, but with the drawback of that 12" area being a lot smaller.

If it is "measure through", then I can get as close but... holy shit! Pretty much half the board is instantly nerfed.

Same with a Nacht-Ghul, with Psychoteric Wyrms. Yeah, the Nacht-Ghul can't be a Wyrd but a Burrow late Infiltrate?!?! And then the leash range is... weird. Since they can move through stuff, but measure around it could be odd.

So, thoughts? I have a pretty decent idea of what I would rule, but being both that player and the Arbitrator I think it would be good to have some more people weighing in 😀

Question (N26) Ash waste chieftain load out?

I'm looking at starting N26 with a nomad gang, but I can't settle on how to kit my Cheiftain out.

I'd like him to be a take all comer kinda guy at range and close up but the house equipmemt list seems a bit lack lustre, and the way he's kitted out in the starter box with a chain lance and mono hooks seems a bit redundant unless I'm missing something. Venom casters look nasty but the template doesnt make use of his better BS.

Any advice would be much appreciated thanks!

Discusion (N26) Hermiatus, the Second Son how does it work??

I’ve read a few things on Hermiatus; he was infected but added himself to the genetic code of the genestealer. So, he has his own miniature spawn group with hive mind and when he dies a new one is spawned?? Help me understand what is happening.

Question (N26) Psi-Gheist vs normal Juve

Hi, I am completely new to Necromunda N26 and decided to play house Delaque because they look cool.

Right now I am building some lists and stumbled over the Psi-Gheist in comparison to their normal cheapest dudes. (The shadows)

For 5 more points I get +1 Cool, +1 Will and also a free Psipower to start with. Is there anything I don't see, why I should take the other dude over a Psi-Gheist?

They are both prospects and can get the same gear.

Question (N26) How many Zone Mortalis kits are required for a 2x2ft table?

What is the hive mind’s collective wisdom for the number of Zone Mortalis kits that would be required to build a dense and vertical 2x2ft table..?

How many Columns&Walls and Platforms&Stairs boxes should one allow for..?

I realise the cheeky reply is likely “lots” or “too many”…

Scanning oldposts, I have not come across any specific consensus..

Discusion (N26) How heretical would it be to *not* take a medic?

I've been playing a lot of N26 skirmish games with squats to prep for a campaign coming up and I've taken a medic every time. However, for one reason or another, I've never actually had them heal anyone. Has anyone ran a gang without a medic on the squad? How did it go?

Question (N26) Haunt Psyrender mind control XP

Hello for the second day in a row! Another question. Under gaining XP is states that if your action directly causes an enemy model to be seriously injured or go out of action you the that sweet level up juice. With mind control you are controlling your opponents model and making them shoot. Does that count as indirectly injuring an opponent if you happen to take one out? Do you gain any of the XP or just laugh as a mining laser guy mercs his boss?

Question (N26) Is it worth starting necromunda now ? If so, how?

Hello everyone, hope you're doing well !

For the context: I started a year ago now warhammer 40k with a small army T'au (yes well, that’s it). Let me be clear, I like playing games of W40K but there are a few things that titillate me a bit, especially the lengths (several hours) and the fact that we wait for each other in turn. Let’s just say that it makes its charm and, in itself, it doesn’t bother me more than that.
On the other hand, my game master’s side requires telling stories as well as introducing my partner to fast and more dynamic games. And that’s where I came across Necromunda.

Digging a little on the internet and especially YouTube, I came across videos that say everything and its opposite if it’s interesting or not to start now with the N26.

Anyway, I’m a bit lost if it’s interesting to start Necromunda Skirmish or is it better to wait until we have other gang/box/book/visibility ?

Moreover, if it’s interesting to start now, what kit is needed to get started? Are the "old box" of the gangs worth buying now or not?

Thank you!

Question (N26) Deployment question! N26

Thank you as always for your helpful responses.

According to the rulebook, the sequence of play is: Scenario Generation > Terrain Placement > Deployment.

Does this mean that you place the terrain after you’ve already decided which side you’ll play?

The gang keeps growing!

Here's the leader, "Grandma", along with her "sons" who act as her champions.

Life's rough down here, especially when your only legitimate way of making credits is selling body parts to the Corpse Guilds.

The skulls, you ask? Merely curios for distinguished collectors, of course. Nothing untowards.

Parts are from Kamandora's Blades, the Hive Scum kit and the chainblade is from the Thousand Sons, I believe.

Discusion (N26) House Rules thoughts

So my playgroup has been working on some house rules based on our experiences with our learning campaign, I'm curious what the community's thoughts are on the potential balance implications of them:

  1. When doing a coup de grace check, if the attacking model has a higher attacks characteristic than the defending model, they may reroll the die they rolled for the check (this includes modifiers, so the +1A on the charge counts). This is to improve the chances of taking enemy fighters out of action, and prevent you from having to box in high strength fighters or brutes who just won't die. Also rewards melee gangs a bit more for taking elites.

  2. Brutes cannot be purchased until after the downtime cycle. They are just too strong early game where no one has access to the high damage and strength weapons to kill them, and they can rack up an absurd amount of xp and become crazy imbalanced. Locking them to the second half makes them feel more special as well.

  3. Brutes must roll their skills randomly, even if their promotion lets them pick. This is mostly because certain skills are just way too powerful on a brute, such as rain of blows or spring up. So while the player can still select the skill set they roll on, it must be rolled to prevent power-gaming.

  4. When founding a gang, you may not include more than one of each specialist type. This is to encourage variation in gang composition, and to prevent power gaming by taking all gunners or gunslingers.

  5. Each player may remove one card from the scenario setup deck prior to generating a scenario. So if a player really hates the ambush deployment, or has done too many hold nothing back crew selections and is getting worn out by long games, they can withhold that card.
