Control Resonant I've been playing on a base PS5, and the game has had micro stutters since day one. However, since the latest update, the performance has gotten so bad that it's basically unplayable.

I put the game aside for two weeks, hoping things would improve, but it's actually gotten even worse. At this point, I can't finish the game because of the constant stuttering.

Is there any way to request a refund through PlayStation? Their website says refunds are only available within 14 days of purchase, but this is a performance issue that has gotten significantly worse after an update.

Has anyone managed to get a refund in a similar situation?

Discussion I don't know man, but I find this game very weird and confusing

Hey y'all! This is my first steam game I bought that's currently on sale. I've seen gameplay of control resonant before and thought it looked awesome, but when I searched it up, I saw there was a first one before it. So to make it short, I just decided to start with this one.

But what the hell is this really about? Jesse became the new director out of nowhere, the janitor keeps talking about stuff I don't find relevant to what's happening, the terms and events in the recordings are kinda confusing, and the files I pick up have a bunch of blacked-out parts.

It's intriguing, but sometimes I'm starting to forget what my main objective is because of how the story flows.

Control Resonant I dunno if Remedy browses this subreddit but I formally demand "Close menu and play" as an option on Zoe's mixtape songs.

Is there a way to open these without having the Hammer or Ground Slam ability?
I'm using Drill as secondary weapon and Push as ability for Dancer boss and I don't want to change my loadout by resetting it.

"What the HELL!?!" while walking up a wall.

The scientists' reactions to Dylan jump scaring them when he walked out of the door in Central.

Wow this is already unseating Dawnwalker and MS2 as my GOTY

Every where I go in this game I’m in awe at what they accomplished artistically, the world is just too good

The combat is insanely satisfying and just difficult enough.

This game feels like a melee version of Returnal/Saros ?!

The Dancer has been my favorite boss so far but the four I’ve fought so far have all been rly cool, just go through the Mold boss and that was a wild design too

I also want to clarify that unlocking all the weapons/abilities and passives all are apart of your build and not just for when you’re using each specific weapon right? Which is why the aberrant strength goes up each time right?

Im already at aberrant strength level 100 and my damage seem rly good and I havnt need assist mode yet, how’s everyone feeling about that game overall?

apologies for another photo dump but this game is so damn pretty I just have to share these with the community, and don't worry we have an assortment of portrait AND landscape photos today :) the journey to 100% steam achievements has been such a fun ride and I can't put into words just how much I love this game and everything within it, by far my favourite game played so far this year and I think it will be an experience that stays with me for a really long time.

Control Resonant Rambling theory: it’s not a nail, it’s a nail Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
104 Upvotes

So this is a bit of a wild theory but bear with me. Also this theory goes along with the Board Invasion theory others on this sub have gone more in depth with as well as Jessie Dylan Faden. Spoilers ahead for control resonant, minor spoilers for Alan Wake 2.

Also we get pretty conspiracy theory here so eat some mold, praise Fred and strap in.

So in resonant in the ordinary sequence we get a good (if pixelated) look at the hand and it really struck me that these look remarkably similar to the Nail in the foundation and it led me down this theory.

Here’s the theory, the five pillars we see in Slidescape 36 are actually five nails like the one in the foundation and tether the board to a dimension.

So right off the bat let’s address the obvious, the nail in the foundation has a triangle chunk missing from it while the pillars in the hand don’t. I believe that this is because the board is not fully in our dimension yet, they can only communicate with people through the hotline and thus their black pyramid is not fully in our dimension, meaning it can’t fuse with the nail to become complete. This is why the nail like structure in the Gap does not have the missing triangle chunk or a black pyramid anywhere, both the board and the fragment of the nail are in the gap so they combine to make a cohesive pillar

With that out of the way let’s get into the meat and potatoes of the theory. When people talk about the nail it is most often compared to the tool the nail used to bind things together, but I think this is not the true understanding, because what else can nail mean? That’s right, finger nails. And what are fingernails used for? Digging into things and grabbing on to them. My biggest evidence for this is that the slidescape called ā€œThe Handā€ has five of these nails, just like how a hand has five fingernails. My theory is that if the board is fully in a dimension and has multiple nails set up their they can burrow into the dimension and do whatever nefarious things they want to do.

This has some very interesting repercussions for Dylan considering that he now has a fully assembled nail inside his head/the gap.

Now for this next part per FBC regulations please don your black rock foil hats as we are going from theory to speculation. What if slidescape 36 is not another dimension, it’s the future.

What if slidescape 36 is a future where the Fadens fail to stop the board and what we are seeing is Earth. This would line up with Pope saying that Slidescape 36 might be the remains of a world where Hedrons and the Hiss fought, just like they are doing on our world. To get even crazier, what if the Hiss and Polaris/Hedron’s in general are not just entities, they are what Dylan and Jessie respectively come in this destroyed future.

This would explain how both entities seem to say things about the future and how Polaris can guide Jessie to exactly where she needs to be exactly when she needs to be there.

It also explains how Jessie is able to channel Polaris through her and how Dylan is able to control the Hiss. Furthermore, when Pope scans the Hedron and sees something that could be Jessie, it’s because the Hedron is a future Jessie.

Next, from a story point, I could see Control 3’s final scene where you gain ultimate power and cut down the enemies like butter (see the endings of Control 1 and Resonant) could be Jessie and Dylan not only fusing in the present but the versions of them that are the hiss and Hedron fusing as well to give them a crazy strong power that is a fusion of Polaris and hiss.

Finally, this would line up very well with Alan Wake 2’s it’s not a loop, it’s a spiral. Maybe the original loop had Jessie Dylan Faden not be split and that one person was not strong enough to stop the Board, leading to earth being devastated and becoming Slidescape 36. What makes the loop we play in the game different is that Jessie Dylan Faden have split, allowing them to get different life perspectives and different interactions with the paranatural that when fused back will make them super dangerous to the board, hence why the board doesn’t want them fused

Man I started this post with just the idea for the first couple paragraphs and then the crazy part just kinda flowed out of me. What are your thoughts?

Fan Content What would Former look like in silly hats? (oc)

Post image
91 Upvotes

I asked myself the age old question that I’m sure everyone else thought about at one point too. What would Former look like in a hat? One hat became two, and then I just kept going. I figured the ā€œI ā™„ļø NYCā€ one was appropriate since it escaped the Astral Plane into the Foundation, so for all we know, it could be touring Manhattan. The last hat on the top row is one you can get in Resonant, and the last hat on the bottom row is the hat Nick Marsters wears in Quantum Break (and I wanted to add that since Nick and Dylan have the same actor). I hope you guys enjoy!

Discussion Jesse’s convinced you’re a good person Spoiler

So please don’t spoil me on Control Resonant (literally just started - just met Pope for the first time).

But there was an option to ā€œapologizeā€ as Dylan for any people he may have killed.

And I’m trying to rack my brain…why would anyone be mad at him in the first place? I can’t remember much of the first games - it’s been a while - but like…dude was kidnapped as a kid and experimented on. Was there actually something he did that was awful? I’m not saying killing is exactly justifiable, but like he was kidnapped and experimented on - seems like a lot of people had it coming. Unless I’m forgetting something about the first game???

Control Resonant I have one *single* complaint

Spoilers for the final resonant:

Managed to get all the rangers to the Unknown resonant arena - this seems intended I think. I really liked em all so I tried hard. And then in the arena, I summoned lots of spore turrets, and any dramatic tension was undercut by their terrible repeating voice lines. Which, whatever I guess. I didn't get the "wait is that Arish?" line until near the end. It kinda ruined the emotional weight. But what REALLY pissed me off was that I kicked ass and managed to save half of them -- then after the cutscene, THE GAME GOES AND SAYS THEY ALL DIED? Dylan is talking about how he couldn't save them but I literally did! They "died" off screen! All my extra effort unrewarded. "I didn't even know their names" well man I was gonna! I saved two! I worked hard for that and I was proud of it! Genuinely took me out of the experience and reminded me it was a game. During such a climactic moment. Just blacklist the annoying ranger barks when in that battle and by God let me save them! Other than that, the game's a masterpiece. A week after beating it I'm still haunted by this though. Is this common at all?
