I stopped talking to everyone in my house
I’m a 21 year old who lives with mom dad and 4 sisters. I feel like being the only man in the family with a Dad who is old and isn’t very emotionally intelligent has taken such a toll on my mind that I can’t deal or micro manage peoples moods swings or tantrums and irrational behavior anymore.
I feel as a result of me being a laid back level headed person in a house full of crazy characters they’ve taken my kindness for weakness. And I haven’t been in the best financial spot. i’ve had to take an extra year of college and pay my tuition and was jobless prior this year.
I feel the mix of my kindness, Me not having enough money to contribute to bills of the house, me accepting money from my family to aid my broke self in college which is a blessing but as a result i feel like the dynamic has become i’m someone who is thought less of in my own house. Someone who can be talked to any sort of way
It was a “straw that broke the camels back” scenario where within the span of a week my mother cussed me out insanely hard over leaving chicken in an air fryer, i was yelled at by my sister for not taking the cats litter out, when i had done it the day prior, first thing in the morning. and my other sis blows up simply cus i asked to use her charger
My other sis ignored me cause i haven’t told her about what classes ive signed up for this semester after i told her about my tuition issues. And my little sis just doesn’t speak to me unless i speak to her
So i’ve ignored them in the house for the past month. I don’t ignore them per say, i answer when i’m called or spoken to or they need something but i just don’t say hey or strike up convos anymore
They’ve tried to ask what’s wrong and apologize to me if they did something but I’m exhausted with them as people and i realized i can’t change them. What im describing is very anti climatic but the abundance and all of it happening at once triggered me to distance myself.
EDIT: i just got into another argument with my mom because i didn’t know what type of bugs she was talking about in the back yard i stg.
I genuinely told her mom i dont know what you’re saying can u calm down and she’s upset. jesus

What home gym purchase did you stop overthinking and finally just buy?
Home gym shopping can turn into an endless comparison of brands, dimensions, accessories, and small differences that might not matter much in actual use.
I'm curious which purchase you eventually stopped researching and just went with. Was it a bench, a rack, adjustable dumbbells, or some accessory you kept debating?
Looking back, did the choice work out, or did you realize that the details you spent so much time comparing barely affected your training?
I'd love to hear what people would tell someone who is stuck researching instead of actually building their setup.

I'm so sensitive it's starting to mess my head
Since childhood, I've heard my mom and dad talking about nothing but my sister, she's like their ideal child. The moment she was born, I was non-existent and just kept around as a babysitter for her. She makes a mistake, I would get yelled at, she hurts herself, it's my fault somehow. All the sympathy they have goes towards her, the moment something happens to me, it disappears.
They taught her to treat me how they do it, I hear my mom laughing with my sister as they wish I was never born, I used to get so embarrassed that I'd sit in the bathroom for hours and cry until now one was home.
The moment I get yelled at, or even lightly scolded, I can't stop my tears and the worst part is that I can't just forget about the situation, it stays in my head for hours. It really makes me anxious, I try my best not to cry but I really just can't stop myself. I'm really not crying on purpose, I really just need some help stopping this. It's embarassing to cry in front of others, it feels like I'm seeking attention but I really just can't do anything. I can't afford therapy, I've tried everything I can at home but nothing has worked for me.
It makes me lose hope everytime it happens, I've started isolating myself because of this and I doubt anyone would even care about it. I don't wanna miss things out in life, even if there's no one close to me anymore, I just wanna live normally without feeling like a victim everytime, without overthinking about my past and future.

How do I deal with the fact that I will never have time to date after 2 failed relationships with 2 children one of which is neurodiverse.
So I recently became single after finding someone who I thought was the love of life... so im not looking for now but the mother of the eldest child was taken off her by Social Services (CPS), I was then forced to choose between my daughter and son with 24 hours notice. I spent months fighting for my son and then his mother moved up the road, which made contact with my son difficult, I then spiralled and lost the woman I love and probably always will, but I know that I won't have time to date when I get my own place and have my son, Im starting to feel like my sons mum has won and Im gonna die alone. My ex has told me she still loves me but can not cope with my son..... I cannot believe that anyone will accept him either as he is Neurodiverse and potentially has PTSD.

i’m just existing and it’s pretty peaceful, don’t care about much
i care about my wife, daughter, mom, dad, sister, fam, friends
i send love to all beings and wish for peace on earth
beyond that though i don’t care much about much right now
like i have very little ambition and it feels good
just existing, or almost feeling like i don’t exist a lot of the time
my need to be special seems to be dying
who cares?
don’t give a shit about impressing anyone
don’t care about money
don’t care about status
i just do me
and i like being me
it’s chill
i let the world take care of itself

How do I stop caring about the way society works?
It bothers me that people feel they can talk to you anyways they want including family. I get sick of being tactful when saying how I feel (which I don't usually do) but other people are just brutally honest and don't care how they deliver what they want to say. For some reason, I have always felt I always need to be nice and kind. I sometimes or most of the time hold things in because I fear conflict , even as a middle aged man.

How can someone stop being affected when others are nasty to them?
I am neurodivergent and loner. But I still get super hurt when people are nasty to me and my threat response goes off fast. How do I get over this?

Do you ever keep yourself busy just to avoid being alone with your thoughts?
Sometimes, having nothing to do feels more exhausting than having too much to do. You want to start something, make progress, or create something meaningful, but your own thoughts seem to get in the way.
So you keep yourself busy, hoping that staying occupied will make everything feel a little lighter.
Have you ever felt this way? What do you usually do when silence becomes uncomfortable?

How do I overcome this problem with my social skills?
Long post. This is a very specific and bizarre issue and I honestly have no idea what the best sub to post something like this would be, so I apologize in advance if this doesn't fit here and would appreciate recommendations for a better sub to post this in. Long story short, I grew up very socially awkward, excluded, and bullied, with parents who also taught me weird rules for socializing. I felt like I lacked the innate social skills other kids had and always had trouble making friends and fitting in. Things took a huge turn in high school when I made friends who gave me a huge confidence boost, and my social skills completely transformed. Pretty much ever since and now at 22, I've been completely socially competent, make friends very easily, feel like overall I'm well-liked, and am completely comfortable with silences during conversations (something I used to struggle with a lot that made me act very awkward).
However, I noticed that I have this recurring issue every once in a while that I call "flare-ups" lasting a few weeks to months. Out of nowhere, either triggered by a minor awkward interaction or literally NO reason at all, my brain will randomly and suddenly start doubting my social skills, and then I inevitably continue to doubt myself, lose confidence and become anxious, become hyper-aware of silences in conversations (and am constantly feeling anxious to fill them, completely unlike how I normally am), and I end up acting stiff and awkward in front of people. I'm not able to talk to people and make jokes and just relax like I normally can and know I'm capable of, and this completely takes away my ability to be myself and chat and make friends.
It's infuriating because logically, I know 100% that it's all in my head and this fear has zero rhyme or reason whatsoever. It literally makes no sense: I can literally just continue being who I am and it would be fine, but instead it's like a double-whammy where I not only become anxious and unconfident in my social skills (again, for absolutely no good reason), but also become this super awkward and inauthentic version of myself and end up just having awkward hangouts. It's so frustrating trying to make friends during these flare-ups because I know I could easily talk to them otherwise, but I keep shooting myself in the foot against my will. Eventually these flare-ups resolve on their own and I'm fine for a while, but it doesn't matter how well I'm doing because another one can strike out of nowhere and it takes so little to crumble my confidence. I'm sure this is at least somewhat from childhood exclusion, bullying, other scars, and a weak sense of self-worth, but regardless it's an ongoing issue. What is going on, how can I stop letting it impact me, is this constant cycling something I'll have to live with forever, and can therapy or anything else significantly help? If I'm not in a position to be able to easily afford therapy right now, does anyone have advice on what I can do?

I enjoy analyzing too much...
A lot of people suggest to "let it go" or stop thinking about certain events in life, but I consider it a part of who I am. I look at life like it's an experimental experience so I do enjoy analyzing. If I observe something interesting or unusual, which occur many times throughout each day, I might sit with it for quite a while and wonder why it was that way and then break it all down. Does it help me or others? I think so but sometimes I can't slow down and it might be positive or negative but if I find it interesting I will keep researching it, lol. So it's not like ruminating , more like, trying to understand. Anyway, that's my 2 cents, lol, have a nice evening!✌️
