Guys, I don't know if any of you have noticed this, but in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, you can form certain teams of characters that have specific names, such as Agents of shield or Air Force.

What's interesting is that one of these teams is called Assassins, and it consists of Deadpool, Wolverine, Elektra, and Blade.

And here's the most interesting part: this lineup bears a striking resemblance to the resistance group that appears in the Void in the 2024 film Deadpool & Wolverine, where they fight against Cassandra Nova and her allies.

The difference is that, in the movie, Gambit and X-23 are also part of the group, whereas they aren't included in the Marvel: Ultimate Alliance team of the game.

Could this be a simple coincidence?.

Discussion What should the MCU invest in next? I say distinct Inhumans and mutants, and allowing both to exist in the world.

Post image
3 Upvotes

Something I love about the MCU is that it has the potential it has to bring new life into characters who wouldn't get it otherwise, a new look for their world, new lore for characters, or just making them look cooler in general.

Something I want the MCU to invest in is making the Inhumans and Mutants distinct and a part of the MCU. The MCU loves to do callbacks, making things that weren't in the MCU suddenly a part of it, etc

Both groups can and should co-exist, I love the political back and forth of the Inhumans, the characters of the X-Men and how they always collide with one another more so than with Humans at times.

Yes the groups look similar, NuHumans have gone through what Mutants go through in Agents of Shield, but we have also seen an interesting side of them with their relationship with Kree which I think is pretty cool.

Yes Inhumans the show is bad (though I will say the actors for Black Bolt and Maximus are great, i want them back specifically), however the individual Inhumans that have been built up, Daisy, Yo-Yo, Kamala, (despite being just a mutant in the MCU) and Moongirl (outside of the MCU) are all great. The groups are also different in ways people can enjoy.

I would also want these two races to talk to one another (well…not blackbolt…). Communicate their joint experiences, talk about what is a good way to live in a world where they're not wanted or are wanted for the wrong reasons. Argue about what is actually right, Inhuman Isolationism and their caste systems, Mutant Integration and all that in between. It just seems so interesting.

I will always think that the push for the Inhumans years ago could have made them successful. I won't make out all the details, but the gist for me was that they just used the wrong Inhumans…NuHumans are far more alike to the X-Men than they are to Attilan royalty, but that's for another day, oh and the fact that the Inhuman push was purely a corporate decision that failed and diminished both franchises, and basically straight up killed the Inhumans sadly…nice marvel…oh and putting them against a sector of the universe people have infinite more love for…yeah that'll do them in too…take away their star Inhuman- into the coffin they go…please and thank you- Oh and dont make Terrigen lethal to Mutants…that's just stupid…that whole era was just….dumb…

I really couldn't imagine being a fan of either one or both at this time…Inhuman fans got rejected despite getting some good stories, Mutant fans didn't get a whole lot of Xmen material, and even some bad material to make things worse..

To not end on a depressing note, I think Inhumans can be a hit but they have to have the drive to, they have to make them distinct, and they have to be patient with it. I hope it happens. I see it happening, like how the MCU has done Wakanda and Talokan. Though they shouldn't be as tied together. They should live in the same world and interact but not to the extent like how Talokan and Wakanda are intertwined.

Oh and Make Kamala an InMutant in the mcu like they did in the comics. I think it's cool, don't make her an X-Men, but tie her in with the heroes and that side of Mutantdom, keep her relationship with a nurturing Medusa and a cute Lockjaw. She can be both and be a star for both, Marvel please.

Anyways this was what I want to be further explored in the MCU, what about you? What do you think of my post?

Discussion The MCU Hasn't Done Sam Wilson Justice, and I'm Just Now Realizing It

Post image
0 Upvotes

After reading some issues of Captain America: Symbol of Truth, I genuinely feel like the MCU hasn’t done Sam Wilson’s Captain America justice. I LOVE Sam Wilson as Captain America in the comics. I love his personality, his motivations, his relationships, and especially his mission. He’s not just carrying the shield and fighting bad guys. He genuinely wants to make America a better, more peaceful place for its people. He’s actively trying to confront violence and create something better for the country.
That’s the kind of Captain America I want to see on screen.
And then the awesome relationship with Misty Knight!
This is my first real introduction to her character, and I absolutely love her. I love her relationship with Sam Wilson, their chemistry, and learning more about her background, including the story of how Tony Stark gave her the bionic arm. These are the kinds of characters, relationships, and stories I want to see explored in the MCU.

And that’s where my frustration with the films comes in.
Sam Wilson is only just beginning to establish himself as Captain America in the MCU. He received the shield, had one solo movie, and now we’re already heading into Avengers: Doomsday. When does he actually get the opportunity to fully develop as Captain America?
When do we get to see his personal mission, his relationships, his struggles, and his vision for what America could become? I’m not saying Marvel is doing this as a money grab or anything like that. But I do think that if you’re going to introduce a character as important as Captain America, you have to give his story room to breathe.

And after reading Symbol of Truth, I feel like there’s so much more to Sam Wilson than what we’ve been shown on screen. I want to see his relationship with Misty Knight. I want to see him navigating the political conflicts that come with being Captain America. I want to see him standing up for what he believes in, even when that puts him at odds with governments and other powerful figures.
I want to see the Sam Wilson I’ve been reading about.
And that’s probably one of my biggest takeaways from reading Marvel Comics so far. The comics are showing me just how much potential these characters have, and it’s making me wish the MCU would take more time to explore them. Because these characters deserve stories that allow us to really get to know them, not just see them show up for the next big crossover event.

Question Ancient one movie

Just had a random thought:

Wouldn’t it be cool to have a movie or miniseries about the Ancient One and her journey across the centuries? It could expand the MCU into more of the magical side lore.

I would love to see Tilda come back.

Discussion Before the reveal in BND, what did you think V-Max was? Spoiler

I thought it was going to be a weapon and/or a mutant. I definitely thought the Department of Damage Control was hiding the truth about what V-Max was. I'm curious if anyone was disappointed when they found out. Personally, I thought it was an interesting touch to include it the way they did.

Spoilers! The one calling the shots in VisionQuest Spoiler

SPOILERS FOR VISIONQUEST EPISODES 1 & 2

I think that E.D.I.T.H is who hired Paladin. I don’t know WHY but here’s the evidence:

  1. She makes her initial appearance from falling through the roof. The leaking fluid that was an indication of a security breach was seen falling from the ceiling.
  2. Her excuse was she had seen someone doing it on the web. Ultron states he knew about the hit because it was in a deep corner of the dark web.
  3. In the bar scene when Fiona gets killed Vision is sitting there with her and we see E.D.I.T.H as a hologram outside of his body. She and Ultron are the only two we see like this.
  4. Perhaps my most compelling piece of evidence is that the first time the buyer intercepts radio communication with Paladin they explicitly state that he was supposed to be taken in unharmed. This leads me to believe it’s one of the A.I.s onboard. Yet, in episode 2 he’s put in an EMP cage and then shot with Adamantium which are both far cries from “taking him in unharmed”. BUT, this resulted in Jarvis, who is in charge of security, sacrificing himself. This would work to assist E.D.I.T.H by removing the last security measure.

Now, you could use the last piece of evidence and say that it makes sense that it’s Ultron and not her since Jarvis is what foiled his plans in Age Of Ultron. But, Ultron states that Jarvis wouldn’t have been his first choice for an A.I to sacrifice, and that it also wouldn’t have been his 2nd choice. I don’t believe Ultron is lying here. But I also don’t see the purpose in him saying that line the way he does unless it’s to point to the fact that E.D.I.T.H would likely be his first choice. I don’t think DUME and U would have been complex enough to provide enough power to the others. Ultron should LOATHE Jarvis more than any of the other A.Is yet E.D.I.T.H is who he would get rid of first?

I could easily be wrong and I’ve only got episodes 1-2 to go off of but I put the tinfoil hat on while writing my thoughts and maybe someone else noticed something I didn’t that also points to E.D.I.T.H 😅

Now the part I don’t understand tho is why. Why would E.D.I.T.H have ulterior motives?

Question Would you incorporate Black Cat into Spider-Man: Brand New Day? if so, how?

Post image
0 Upvotes

If you could include Felicia Hardy/Black Cat in BND without changing too much of the original plot, how would you go about it?
Don't get me wrong, I loved the film and how they went about it, but I like to imagine. Would you have her take Sadie's place or have both of them in the movie? I know, before Sadie's casting, some people really wanted Black Cat in this movie so I'm curious what kind of storyline you guys would want to explore with Black Cat while still keeping the same tone and undertones that were established for this movie.
Personally, I think Black Cat could fit really well with the more street-level direction of the film, but I can't really think of how she could be introduced in a way that feels natural to the story. I also think she could be a really interesting character to introduce now and then explore more in potential sequels, especially if BND ends up being the start of a new trilogy.
What would you guys do?

Question If the palladium was killing Tony in Iron Man 2, why didn't he have the shrapnel removed like in Iron Man 3?

See above. If the palladium was killing Tony in Iron Man 2, why didn't he have the shrapnel removed like in Iron Man 3? The shrapnel seems pretty easy to remove in Iron Man 3. If the core was pushing him close to death why not just remove the shrapnel?

Discussion (More in Comments) Justice For Bystanders

Should investigations be done in order to find and arrest the culprit who is responsible for the deaths of all these innocent drivers?

Everyone were just minding their business, when boom, an armored vehicle came out of nowhere and hits them with so much impact, that each of those cars were sent flipping at least 10 feet into the air, their windows and chassis shattering. The cop car even gets flipped toward a child but thank goodness, Spider-Man saved the child.

Despite that, we're talking about 4 deaths here, at a minimum. The drivers. That's before we factor in any passengers or in the case of the cop car, any detainees.

Whoever was responsible for this travesty, needs to be brought to trial and if found guilty, be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Discussion Episode 3 of Moon Knight might be one of the biggest drops in quality I've seen on a show in a long time (SPOILERS) Spoiler

After two well-paced and directed episodes, we get an episode with atrocious pacing. It was so fast paced it felt like someone told the writers they cut down the number of episodes for the show by 2 and they had to cram stuff into the first 40 minutes.

The CGI dropped badly, it never felt like I was actually in Cairo. The camera work for the fights was manic and disjointed. No scene had a chance to breathe. The council scene was absurd, nonsensical, and came out of nowhere.

It's like they just went down a bullet list of plot points.

What happened? Seriously disappointed. I hope episode 4 is better.

Discussion Road to Avengers Doomsday: Black Panther Wakanda Forever

Post image

This is one of those films that was caught in a precarious dilemma. The death of Chadwick Boseman really changed things up in the MCU. What do you do in the aftermath of the death of an iconic figure in a franchise?  This film manages to weather that storm, although it does so a bit uneven at times.

The incorporation of grief and loss into the story of the film makes the film feel rather personal at times and obviously it resonates strongly. But it is also a bit uneven in its exploration of these themes. Very stop and go. Initially I was a bit iffy on the whole Talokan reimagining of Namor. But visually it works, though I do prefer that the Atlantis/Greek aesthetics were preserved as the themes could address mutants and other social/civil rights issues. Overall, I do prefer Namor as a villain over Killmonger. He was far more compelling. Angela Bassett really shines as Queen Ramonda. But that goes without saying because it’s Angela Bassett. Shuri has a clear character arc, albeit sloppy. I like that it echoes and resonates with Namor. I like the depiction of Wakanda actually being vulnerable and not some impregnable unstoppable superpower. The action was pretty good with the underwater sequences or any scenes involving the Talokans being really effective.

The movie is way too long. There’s no reason it should be almost 3 hours. Pacing fluctuates from fast to incredibly slow. The film is still distinct enough not to fall under my “set-up” movie category. But there’s still a lot of setup going on in this film. Riri Williams feels underwritten. She’s just there to be a part of the plot and almost feels like an accessory. Unnecessary CIA subplot that goes nowhere. There’s an unnecessary Killmonger cameo. Shuri and elements of her character arc are messy. Her decision to not kill Namor is very abrupt and sort of unearned as the whole film is leading toward vengeance and she changes her mind at the moment where the movie needs her to. Her becoming Black Panther happens very late in the film, she really isn’t Black Panther for a while. The synthetic heart shaped herb is also incredibly convenient and contrived. The CGI is a bit uneven at times. The final battle is frantic and weak from a story perspective. Side characters are underutilized and their stories raise more questions than answers (Ross, M’Baku, Okoye, Nakia). And lastly Ramonda’s death is very predictable. Writers need to understand that there are very effective ways of giving a character a complete journey and arc without killing them off.

Far from perfect. But also, for me, better than the first Black Panther.

Rating: 3.5/5

Discussion Vision moral code Spoiler

spoilers for first two episodes of Vision quest.

This was always going to be a hard narrative puzzle to complete. How do you pit a regular human adversary against not just one but...five? of the most advanced AI's in this universe. " I've run quintillions of simulations on this encounter before it happens". why would you include this line and then have your AI walk into an EMP trap a few scenes later. The ONE thing that any average viewer could think of off the top of their head to stop a synthezoid.

Also. Vision leaves Paladin alive not once but twice. Not a problem if Vision adheres to a strict moral code of not killing. But this dude is disintegrating bad guys left and right no problem. But leave the boss alive because....why?

They have a built in narrative device to smooth out these inconsistencies. Ultron. Jarvis wants to run a quintillion scenarios on how encounter will go. Something is interfering with our projection models. Ultron wants Vision to respond in a more human, instinctual, emotional manner so he is clouding up the predictions algorithm.

(I know that Vision understood he was walking into a trap. I am not an idiot. But he clearly was not anticipating the EMP room which he absolutely should have been. a quintillion is a lot)

or Ultron is the devil on Vision shoulder. Kill him!(paladin) he is a threat to you! Vision protests as it is not what "he" would do. and this strengthens the concept of vision finding autonomy when he decides to eventually kill. stepping out of the old vision shadow

or the EmP room is a second false trap. and show that paladin is super creative/resourceful. we know Vision has been debilitated by magic and by Corvus Glaive's weapon. would be interesting to see Paladin utilize these assets to neutralize a foe that has him dead to rights. the adamantium rounds was good. I hope that isn't their only tactic

I am liking the show. I love Bettany. I will watch him all day. Just hate having to "turn brain off and enjoy" for what should be some of the smartest and more clever character writing in the MCU.

Question Post secret wars, what direction should the mcu take?

A. Soft Reboot: The majority of characters get recast; I assume not everyone would. This would be like the DCU, so while Shang-Chi and Spider-Man may stay, Hulk, Iron Man, Hank Pym, Janet, etc are all recast. The timeline has some characters keeping their growth and old memories, such as Spider-Man. But the timeline itself is a new one, Iron Man is alive because Thanos didn't snap his fingers, meaning the Time Heist and Tony's death did not happen for example.

B. Bringing deceased heroes back, rest stays: The world is back to normal; it's the same MCU we know. However, new versions of Tony or Natasha Romanoff enter the world and stay there. People would know these are variants; the plot itself doesn't hinge on it.

C. Just continue, no reset. Basically, Phase 4: everything we know happened. There aren't any new versions of characters. We just continue.

I’m rewatching it right now and it feels like a B-tier movie. The acting, the story, the setting, etc. I don’t understand why it’s regarded so highly - even compared to Black Panther at times.

Discussion Trask Industries should acquire Stark Industries and use the Iron Man tech as the basis for the Sentinels in the MCU

With how the MCU loves connecting things back to older things (especially things related to Iron Man), I believe that connecting the Sentinels to Iron Man makes the most sense.

Even in the comics I always thought that Iron Man and the Sentinels looked and felt similar. Now the MCU has the opportunity to make that connection real.

The legacy of one of Earth’s mightiest heroes being tarnished via heinous people taking his greatest creation(s) and using it as a basis for anti-mutant machines that eventually lead to the downfall of both mutantkind and humankind would be a really interesting way to both wrap up “Stark Industries” in the MCU and lead it into the Mutant saga.

I just watched Avengers endgame again and I would still say that they wasted Harley Keener character and got this stupid iron heart that blames Tony stark for every mistake whereas Tony stark learned from his mistakes. What are your thoughts?
