We just announced the new Nikon Z5IIC, everyday-carry mirrorless camera designed to make the move to full-frame photography more accessible. Built on the proven performance of the award-winning Z5II, the new Z5IIC combines a more compact, flat-top design with intuitive features like Scene Modes, helping those beginning their photography journey achieve great results. The “C” stands for casual- The Z5IIC is designed around a screen-first shooting experience that helps users remain immersed in the moment, with intuitive controls and automated features for those ready to learn/.

 Main features include:

-Fast, precise subject detection AF built on deep-learning technology make it easy to capture sharp photos and video of fast-moving children, pets, sports and everyday moments. Also, new "fish" mode subject recognition.

- The Z5IIC pairs a 24.5-megapixel full-frame backside-illuminated CMOS sensor with Nikon’s EXPEED 7 image-processing engine – the same technology platform used in Nikon’s flagship cameras. Together with NIKKOR Z lenses, it captures rich color, smooth sunset gradations, natural background blur and cleaner detail in dimly lit scenes. For first-time full-frame users, that means visibly superior photos and videos with less noise and blur, even when the light is challenging.

-Scene Modes: 15 scene modes help you to get great results without first mastering complex settings.

-Picture Control Button: Quickly preview and apply built-in Picture Controls and favorites downloaded from Nikon Imaging Cloud’s growing library of Imaging Recipes.

-Film Grain: Capture photos and video with a nostalgic film look.

-Vari-Angle 3.2" touchscreen allows for Easy shooting from a variety of positions, including overhead and selfie.

-7.5 stops VR (IBIS)

-Pre-Release Capture

-4K/60p video and stereo sound and 12-bit internal RAW for pro-quality video.

-The Z5IIC is available in two colors; silver and black, allowing users to choose the one that best suits their preferences. The model is constructed of durable magnesium alloy for a premium, metallic feel.

The new Nikon Z5IIC will be available in mid-October 2026 for a suggested retail price of $1399.95 for the body only, or $1699.95 packaged with the NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3 lens.

Gulf Coast Camera in Bradenton FL had a grand opening, and I was blown away. I brought in a bunch of old gear to include my D200, D2xs, and a bunch of lenses, including manual focus. I estimated the trade-in value to be about $1,600, which as we all know means to plan on about $1,200 so you are not let down.

Well, they gave me $2,600. And the rebates included some pretty good numbers whenever you were trading in equipment. I took the opportunity to stock up. Thank you Nikon for paying the sales tax!

I think the best deal of it all is actually the 50mm/1.8 at $366 out the door.

Long time wedding photographer, but slowly revisiting my earlier passion for landscape / seascape photography. Recently sold my Fuji X series kit in favour of a Z series setup and I’ve been absolutely loving it.

Nikon Z5ii, 24-70 Mkii, 30” @ f11. ND400 for the full frame, coupled with a square, hard ND8 for the sky.

Photo Submission Won 1st place with my photo

Taken with the Nikon Z6III and the 180-600mm f5.6 in Milan.

Went to do a photoshoot for 22 horses and put this one in a colour competition and won 1st place out of 100 entries!

I know some people will ask why I used such a long range lens and I'll be honest it was either that or a 24-70mm f4 and I didn't want to stay too close to the horse so it would feel more comfortable (also I didnt have a 70-200mm at that point)

Hope you guys like it and looking forward to adding more posts of photos in the near future! 🫶

Love this camera. Mainly shoot sports. While covering a college game I put it on the ground. While using my Z6iii. When I picked it back up this flair was on the screen. Nothing to do with the lens. Flair stays when on or off.

TIA

Went today with my SO to the Nikon Museum in Shinagawa city (Tokyo), Japan. Ive seen in one place every camera and every lens in existence that Nikon ever produced. Also the hospitality was really warm. At the end you could take a booklet (they ranged only in the Z cameras), i took the one of a Z8, since I own it. They packaged it in a Nikon museum envelope. Also there is a shop where you can buy some small memorabilia stuff like T shirts, caps, porcelain stuff (cups, etc). I bought a pen with the Museum engraving and a camera belt. Here are some pictures, enjoy.

Gear question Thanks to everyone who recommended the AF-S 35mm!

I made a post a couple months ago asking for travel lens recommendations for my d3300 in Guatemala. I ended up going for the simple but very effective AF-S 35mm f1.8. The autofocus was a must. Here are some shots that I took on this trip with exclusively this lens!

Gear question I'm about to bite a big bullet. What would you rate it cosmetically out of 10?

This lens is on sale for $699. Got these photos from a gear rental store, wanted to know if this lens can be considered, based on which I'll go check the in-hand feel next week as the dealer is in another city.

What more information I should seek when buying especially from a gear rental store?

Taken for a Family member 😄 I'll Mask out the lead later.

I think of selling my D700 all the time for being such a tank (I'm used to M43) but then I take quality that my m43 can't get close to I stop thinking about selling.

Photo Submission Haunted Mansion - Nikon D850, ISO 64, Tripod, 1/5th, f8.0, Nikkor 24-70/f2.8 at 70mm

An October appropriate submission.

And no, it's not truly a haunted mansion. It was Bennett School for Girls. A college.

Abandoned for many years, it became decrepit through neglect. Sadly, the building was torn down. The building's formal name was Halcyon Hall.

Yes, it truly looked like this near the end. There was very little editing on my part. Conversion to B&W, Contrast/Brightness and sharpening.

Addendum, added 13hrs after initial post

While responding to a couple of posts, I came across a blog and a video that might be of interest to anyone making it far enough to read this description.

Deep-ish dive into how Halcyon Hall reached this state https://bigoldhouses.blogspot.com/2011/06/halcyon-hall-collapsing.html?hl=en-US&m=1#:~:text=Anonymous

Taken with my D750 and Nikkor AF-S 50mm f1.8. I was just on my way to dinner with friends after taking photos in the park. I had my D750 on me and I was so glad I did the colors were amazing. I don't use my 50mm much but I was sure glad to have have an F1.8 lens on me for the low light.

What should I buy? I’m torn between getting a second camera body or investing in a professional zoom lens. What would you do?

Hey everyone

I currently shoot with a Nikon Z6 III, and I’m trying to decide what my next gear investment should be. I’d really appreciate some honest advice, especially from photographers who shoot events, weddings, and other occasions.

My current setup:

- Viltrox 35mm f/1.8 II EVO

- Nikkor Z 50mm f/1.8 S

- Viltrox 85mm f/2 EVO

- Viltrox 135mm f/1.8 LAB

I absolutely love prime lenses. For me, photography isn’t just about getting a technically good image. I love creating cinematic, atmospheric, visually striking photographs that tell a story. I’m quite experienced with my camera and take my photography seriously.

However, I also shoot events, where having the right gear and being able to react quickly can make a big difference.

I previously bought the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 G2, but ended up returning it because I wasn’t happy with the results compared to my primes. I know zoom lenses offer flexibility, but I really value image quality, rendering, and that special look I get from my prime lenses.

Here are the options I’m considering:

  1. A second Nikon Z6 III — for a two-camera setup, greater flexibility, and peace of mind during events.

  2. A Nikon Z5 II — as a more affordable second body, while keeping the Z6 III as my main camera.

  3. Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II — a professional zoom that could be genuinely useful for event photography.

  4. Nikkor Z 24-120mm f/4 S — a versatile all-rounder, although I’m concerned about losing the f/2.8 aperture and the look I get from faster primes.

  5. Saving for a high-resolution camera body — I sometimes wish I had more megapixels for cropping and greater detail. Unfortunately, Nikon’s options are limited compared with Sony’s lineup, and the Z8 is expensive. Honestly, I’m not convinced its price is justified for my needs.

I’m not looking to buy more gear just for the sake of it. I want something that will genuinely improve my photography and workflow.

So, what would you do in my position?

Would you prioritize a second body for events, invest in a high-end zoom despite being a prime lens lover, or save for a higher-resolution camera?

If you shoot professionally or have experience with these lenses and bodies, I’d especially appreciate your perspective.

Thanks

Got my new grey market Z50ii yesterday along with a couple of lenses. The flying pelican cropped heavily and was not set with a fast shutter speed since I wasn't prepared for the shot but the 3D focus tracking worked amazing nonetheless.
