Game is called Den-Den: Tokyo Horror and the dev said they take inspiration from Pathologic, but I'm honestly not seeing where the inspiration is because I'm not noticing anything different from Pathologic 2? It looks exactly the same, even the same ambient background audio plays in the background as if it was straight up lifted from the game.

Door Texture with Greek Text in Pathologic Classic HD

Post image
19 Upvotes

There's a door texture in Pathologic Classic HD with Greek text which for me, a Greek, managed to feel the most otherworldy element in a game full of weirdness.

Judging from the text it's basically a typically-graffiti-all-over wooden door from a highschool in Aigina (Greek Island).

Anyone who has spent an unhealthy amount of hours playing Classic already knows where that is - my question is...does anyone know the reason for this totally out of place texture. The devs are Kazakhs and/or Russians as far as I know.

I'm probably reading too much into it, but some lore fiends among you might know sth about it other that "it's just a random texture bro" :)

Pathologic 3 The New P3 Console Command Guide is live

Console Commands Updated Guide

Hello everyone. I've been working on this whenever I have a moment for the last few months. it's a more comprehensive, easier to search, and easier to use console commands guide.

Let me get a few questions out of the way:

Isn't there already a console commands guide?

As of the time of writing this guide, the other console commands guide hasn’t been updated since January. There have been developments since then, many of its commands do not work, and that guide’s commands were not easily searchable or copy-pasteable.
Furthermore, the Pathologic modding wiki’s page on console commands) hasn’t been updated in months. I believe since before the game released. A lot of information is out of date.

So here is an updated guide with easily accessible commands that will be receiving regular support & attention, just like my other guides do.
Feel free to use this info anywhere!

Why are some sections WIP?

I've finished all major commands, and the ones remaining have huge lists, OR I need to datamine the lists out. Which I don't know how to do yet.
So since the guide has most of the codes done, and the others could take months to fully test, I figured it was better to have a partial guide out there than no guide at all.
I am still working on this actively.

Classic HD Pathologic 1 in Unity

8 hours ago I had idea:

Everyone says Pathologic 1 has ugly graphics. But it has exceptional art style - it just needs better lightning + volumetric fog + whole map visibility. I saw LLMs are now really good at decompiling games and I thought - let's reverse engineer game assets and mechanics and do engine port to unity (edited wrongly talking about decomp in original post)

Testing visual improvements - I feel they enhance p1s atmosphere

Discussion Playing pathologic 3

I’ve recently just finished my first run through of pathologic 2 and enjoyed it a lot once doing a deep dive into story and playing both endings. I don’t think I could play another run of pathologic 2 for a while because it is genuinely a draining experience, but how far does pathologic 3 differ?
I’ve heard it’s a bit more forgiving in the sense that it’s not “as hard of a game” I’m interested to play it but if it’s anywhere near as crushing as pathologic 2 can be I think I may just need to take a little break and come back to the series at a later point.

Seems to be a lot of new Pathologic Classic HD mods. How come?

Yesterday I was scrolling through Nexus Mods and ModDB and noticed that Pathologic Classic HD has been receiving a lot of new mods in the past year or so. And not just the kinds of simple cosmetic mods we've always had, but mods that add new or alter existing mechanics. It's not just one person or two, but at least several, I'd say.

How come? I see that the game received a dedicated mod launcher now. Is the modding process better documented now? Is it (God forbid) AI speeding up the process? I hope it's not that one.

It's pretty cool to see the mods being created. A lot of them are backporting Pathologic 2 features which seems a bit redundant to me, but the overhaul mods and the ones that add whole new features are really exciting. I'll give some of them a try soon. If modding truly is getting easier, maybe I should make one or two, although I don't know what all I would add. I quite like the game as is!

Pathologic 2 Did the children leave the Polyhedron? Spoiler

Hello, just played through the game and just something that didn't make sense.
On day 9 thanks to Khan all the children take shelter in the Polyhedron which protects them from the Earth as it is part of the evil Sky,

Just a day later they all get miraculously infected while on the Polyhedron? And return to their homes? The game says the plague cheated but is it purely meta-narrative that the Theater broke the rules for drama or did the children leave for something I missed?

What would a low percent run of Pathologic 2 look like?

As in, how many of the important characters and events of the game can you completely skip (without glitches) while still surviving all 12 days?

Pathologic 2 Finally did a True Menkhu run

Credit to u/essidus For coming up with the challenge years ago.

Not looking at the map wasn't as hard as I thought, although I did get lost a lot. Thank you, Julia.

Keeping Notkin alive was insane. Watching his pendulum at midnight for most of the game was bone chilling. I didn't cure him first chance I got, since he would get reinfected right away.

My Artemy was like a zombie, going around looking for brains. I had no idea how useful lancets were until I found myself digging through every single body at the hospital, plus harvesting a brain in an infected district and following it up by giving a person on the floor a blood antibiotic is a nice trick to keep your rep in check. F you, arsonists.

Forced to rely on the fund, I had to keep my rep at maximum, which led me to the discovery that Rubin's Odonghs and Barry the Barber were free painkillers.

On the flip side, I could make a trip to shekhen every other night AND sleep for 6 hours, due to the lack of Traveler deals.

Damn, after 500+ hours in this game, this is the most Pathologic a run has ever felt. Shmowders are overrated.

Question Latin in Pathologic

Never played the game, I'm here from the hbomberguy.

Today I had a great opportunity to he pretentious, but I forgot the inappropriate Latin phrase the Bachelor says in Harris's video. Does anyone have a complete list of all the Latin Daniil uses in the first game?

Pathologic 2 end game questions/discussion - POSSIBLE SPOILERS Spoiler

Okay I’m sure there is so many other end game discussion/ questions posts I just cbf reading through all of them. I have finally completed pathologic 2 after having owned it for over a year and trying a couple of times to play it already, as I’ve stated in other posts I loved what I had played of this game but dropped it due to how stressed it made me. I am so glad I stuck it through this time but I’m still left feeling a little lost on a few things.

First of all I got the nocturnal ending (also the late ending because I was running out of time and also thought not finishing the quest may have provoked the “nocturnal” route anyway) I’m assuming it is definitely worth reloading and getting the other 2 endings?

I understand that the nocturnal ending has the earth and kin reunited under some hive mind like thing and that’s why some characters act strange, I think it is a good ending but at the same time I feel like I was expecting more or something else? I thought back on the beginning of the game on day 12 and expected myself to return to a similar situation that game begins on, is the decision made without me in the beginning the choice to fire or not fire at the polyhedron? Are all the people heading out into the steppe a part of the hive mind as well or are they dreams? If everything is real why is aspity able to talk to me?

I’m also confused about the whole concept of the fellow traveler and what he means to the story/artemy.

I also guess I was kind of expecting the people saved/not saved to have a more direct impact on the ending? I suppose it can depending on play style but as someone who was trying to save anyone and everyone as much as I could I felt slightly underwhelmed to basically be given, save the kin and the earth or the town.

I haven’t watched any YouTube videos about endings or explanations yet which I intend to and I most likely will get the other endings. Just wanted to put some thoughts out there. Great game though I thoroughly enjoyed the suffering lol.

Classic HD How do I engage with the dialogue and characters of pathologic?

Hello! I've made a couple of posts here but every once in awhile I get fascinated by this game and want to try again but I do have some personal struggles. For one I'm not really that smart, I struggle with media literacy especially. And for two, I have a hard time trying to Focus due to having severe ADHD. But with that being said I still want to give this game a chance regardless, it has remained such a bizarre yet interesting mystery. Though the part that makes me really worried though is I've heard the gameplay of this is that you're supposed to walk around and Ponder what the characters are saying. But what does that actually mean? A lot of other games trained me to take what people are saying at face value. Is it okay to get misled and fail dialogue checks? What kind of mindset should I approach this game with?"

Question Pathologic 3 day 4 bug, tasks all reset

So I'm really annoyed, I just went through Day 4 and diagnosed all my patients, got a sample of the water to examine, and babysat the children. Yet I reset the day and all of these tasks are behaving as if I didn't make progress in any of them. This didn't happen on day 3, so is this a bug or am I misunderstanding something about how the time travel works?

Question Help please - Can't launch The Void because of a log file error

Hello,

A few days ago, I bought The Void on Steam. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to launch it because I keep getting this error message: "Can't create game module: can't create log file."

I asked someone on TikTok who had recommended the game if they knew how to fix it, and they told me they had found it for free online. So, I downloaded a free version I found online, but I ran into the exact same issue.

I've already checked the existing forum threads about this problem and tried all the suggested solutions, but nothing has worked so far.

Please tell me there's a way to fix this. I'm desperate at this point.

Pathologic 2 I didn't expect a game as grim and oppressive as Pathologic 2 to have so many touching moments. Spoiler

I get that it's designed to be oppressive and stressful and with a lot of dark and disturbing imagery so the touching moments sort of caught me off guard. Like the Haruspex bonding with the various children and having funny back-and-forths with them like with Sticky or his relationship with Murky. And of course the rush to save them all on Day 10. Really enjoyed those moments.

Discussion IPL has the chance to do the funniest thing

So, IPL has mentioned that they're working on a Clara game, or at least hinted at it.

And we all know Clara is the most meta of the three.

It would be absolute gold if the Burakhovsky ship was teased in her version of events, or at least acknowledged as something that exists outside of the theater production.

Maybe Artemy and Daniils actors share a trailer... As bros, you know...

Maybe the audience members keep asking them invasive questions that they have to try and dodge...

Maybe they complain that people misunderstand their characters and the message is muddied because everyone wants a romance...

I dunno, there are a thousand ways to poke fun at the Fandom and this ship (the best ship, imho) and I'd love to see IPL play into it as a joke.

Just a throwaway line, not something that's focused on in any capacity, not even necessarily something that's endorsed.

Edit: Rephrased a bit because I don't think my intention was entirely clear. Also, source for Clara game: https://www.reddit.com/r/pathologic/s/XHO00KWPJz

Pathologic 2 Tips to get past the first day without being murdered?

First time playing. Still on the fence if I'll like the game or not (the fact I have no clue where to save certainly doesn't help).

Anyway, I've played the game for two hours and a half and managed to get it to my dad's house, but then people started to murder me as I went around town, trying to get to quests and markers on the map.

I've opened one drawer I found in a house, and I looted the corpses at the start at the train tracks. But other than that not sure what crime I did.

I stopped playing right now due to my carpal tunnel making it hard for me to play games that require WASD for long, but not sure what's the plan when I pick it back up tomorrow. I'm seriously confused how you're supposed to do things in this game with apparently most of the time attacking me on sight (I also suck at fighting, so that didn't help my survival rate).

Am I missing something?

EDIT: while the comments here were quite useful, reading other threads and discussion on reddit and steam forums, it seems the game is mostly about suffering, not having fun, and going back for a 2nd and 3rd playthrough when you understand more only to suffer still. So I'm likely just uninstalling it, since I only have a week to play video games before I go back to work and this does not sound like an enjoyable experience I want to spend my week break on.

Took a break from working to draw something cute and simple hehehehehe. There's a Shimeji-thingy in steam 'Character House -Desktop Companion- and rn there's a free demo AND OF COURSE I MADE MY PATHO BBS. I wanted a simple style to draw myself some icons for my emails and I quite like how they turned out even tho I didn't even shade or anything. Anyone feel free to use them if you like it, just credit me pls if anyone asks ;AAAAAA;
Note: Pic with all of them together is the actual Steam Thingy, I tried to emulate that art style.

Recently went to Almaty, Kazakhstan and somebody mentioned the developers were based there. I am otherwise going in blind.

I absolutely loved Kazakhstan. Just spent several weeks backpacking around the country. I really fell in love with Almaty. While there, I met somebody who mentioned the developers were based there and was recommended to play this. Just thought it was sweet to see some KZ devs. I'm already blown away by the title music. Other than a brief description and mentions of it being a brutal experience, I'm going in blind! Wish me luck.
