Question Planning on jumping into the game, question about Ironman.

• Upvotes

I used to play OSRS like a lot, easily a few thousand hours. And I ended up making an Ironman and sunk a few hundred hours into that as well but admittedly didnt get that far before I quit due to OSRS burn out. And that was about 4 years ago.

Reignited sadly failed, but im still interested in giving Rs3 a fair shot as my previous attempts I never really did so. And the endgame looks a lot more fun and engaging (and soloable). But im honestly not interested in playing a normal character as much, I enjoyed Ironman mode in OSRS.

Would jumping into an Ironman for my first true experience into Rs3 be a bad idea since I dont really have a feel for the new version of the game? And overall how would you guys rate the Ironman experience in Rs3? Thank you!

Bug Disappointed

• Upvotes

I took my time with this game and spent a ton of hours in each biome. Put over 200 hours in the game and I'm in umbral sands. There's a quest at one of the camps for the archaeologist where you have to collect four scrolls. I collected the four scrolls before I talked to the archaeologist. I have them in my inventory but the archaeologist is saying to come back when I have all four. When I go back to the dig spots it says I already got the scrolls from that spot. Now I can't progress in the game. Any ideas or help? I've tried contacting RuneScape but they don't seem to care about their players. Ive also tried talking with the archaeologist a ton of times trying to reset it but didn't work.

Humor Can y’all shut up about people telling people to shut up about Reignited now?

• Upvotes

I’m genuinely getting tired of opening this subreddit and seeing people complaining about other people talking about Reignited.

We get it. You’re tired of seeing posts about it. Congratulations.

But did we really need an entirely new post announcing that you’re tired of seeing posts? What exactly were you hoping to accomplish here?
The funniest part is complaining about people writing essays because they think they have some groundbreaking opinion, while simultaneously making a post acting like telling everyone to shut up is some groundbreaking opinion.

Like seriously, think about that for a second.
You saw people discussing something you weren’t interested in anymore, and instead of scrolling past it like a normal person, you decided the entire subreddit needed to hear about how annoyed you were.

And now here we are. Another post about Reignited.
Except this time we’re not even discussing Reignited. We’re discussing people discussing Reignited, which apparently is a much more worthwhile use of everyone’s time.

Personally, I think we need to start making posts about people making posts about people making posts about Reignited. Maybe then we’ll finally get to the bottom of this.

I mean where does it end?

If I don’t like seeing posts about people complaining about Reignited, am I supposed to make a post telling those people to shut up too?

And then someone else makes a post telling me to shut up?

Before you know it the entire subreddit is just people telling each other to shut up.

Actually, now that I think about it, that’s pretty much where we’re at already.

And another thing, who exactly decided Reignited was no longer allowed to be discussed?

Was there a meeting? Did we vote on this?

Did Jagex release an official statement declaring that all Reignited conversations must immediately cease because one guy on Reddit has had enough?

I must’ve missed that update.

Anyway, I just wanted to get this off my chest because I feel like nobody else has been
brave enough to address the real issue here.

Hopefully we can finally move on from all these unnecessary posts and get back to discussing RuneScape.

And please, for the love of god, can everyone stop writing these long essays acting like their opinion is some groundbreaking revelation.
It’s getting ridiculous.

Discussion One of the big things I think we as a community need to work on is just correcting all the misinformation out there.

• Upvotes

It's been an observation of mine over these past few weeks , especially that there 's just a lot of misinformation about the main game out there.

Don't get me wrong. We still have a lot of shit wrong and it's not incorrect when people point it out , but especially during reigniteds discussions but there was just a lot of information being put out there that ranged from just a bit outdated , or there was a nugget of truth still , but wasn't correct anymore to straight up fabrications

And really, there's no one at fault, so to speak for this happening. It's just , we tend to be a fair bit more passive than some of the other long running communities out there where, unless it's a rare occasion, most of us are too busy or just don't care enough to actually speak up when someone Is spouting off nonsense .. but that doesn't mean we should continue to let it keep happening.

If we really want to see new blood, besides of course fixing what needs fixing, we need to really start correcting some of the misinformation about the game out there. Devs and player alike

Discussion The collection log update will be the thing that makes me play on my main again

• Upvotes

For context I still play on an early/mid duo CGIM.

I have a main with pretty much all boss logs and a few clue logs completed.

If the collection log update brings in hundreds of new log slots I’ll be jumping on that so fast.

The collection log part of osrs is one thing that I’m in awe of as an rs3 player.

It’s not just the boss logs or clue or slayer logs it’s the little things the new fenshell knife is a great example.

I hope this update brings out a couple hundred unique items that can come from unique ways to skill.

This could be absolutely amazing if new content allows it. There’s over 1,700 unique log slots in osrs and playing for collection log progress is how a lot of end game people play OSRS I want that for RS3.

Before anyone says we get log spots and there’s nothing stopping me doing ghrazi knights now this is true but.

We got like under 20 new clogs this year and update like this could bring in hundreds a year.

Discussion I like the idea of Reignited but... the game isn't ready for it.

• Upvotes

It's simply not the right time. The game, even within it's currently available content, is still unfinished.

Once we have the currently 100+ only training methods, such as martial weaponry and magical weapon imbuement, added to the rest of the corresponding skills I definitely think we should revisit the idea of "reigniting old accounts".

I really enjoy the training methods that make use of multiple skills like magical clothing (farming/crafting) and imbuing weapons (woodcutting/fletching/runecrafting) and would love to experience the grind to 99 using those methods in the future via Reignited.

I would really prefer Jagex slow down a little on the new content and spend a bit of time revitalizing old content to bring it more in line with the current state of the game.

Question Want to Play - Bad Computer

• Upvotes

Okay I’ve said this before, my computer is horrible.

I don’t understand the combat, I don’t know much about it other than it roughly follows RuneScape as I know it, but I’d like to genuinely start playing.

Graphics wise, is there a like… idk “fixed” version where the game settings can be OSRS-ified, for the lack of a better example, so I can run it and play?

Discussion I know it got canceled but there was one statement I never understood.

• Upvotes

The video before the one cancelling it they said something along the lines of veteran players will get a badge/ max cape override that no one else can have.

Basically something like that anyway and the first thing that I thought of was that if you create an account after the 10th of December ( had reignited happen ) there was never going to be an option to play a legacy account?

The wording of the rewards to me sounded like that

New/returning players what guides do you need?

Written or video?

I will start a new account and give you a non-pvm pro guide on how to survive your first kills. Or skilling or quests.

Let me know how we can support you and other players coming to RS3!

Discussion Rs3 vs OSRS- new Player

• Upvotes

Hey guys!

I have ALWAYS heard of OSRS and since my main MMO (New World) is dead I’m looking to get into RuneScape. With the recent news of Jagex looking to make RS4 in the future I decided I wanted to try either RS3 or OSRS. I don’t know much about either but I have been seeing a lot of stuff about the game(s) lately. I’m not a “hardcore” MMO player but a casual one that loves the mechanics and skilling, as well as the grind on a more casual level. In 2026 which one would you suggest for someone like me?

Thank you all!

Discussion Reignited should have been POSTPONED, not cancelled

• Upvotes

I strongly believe, as a "20+ years veteran" that at its core, RuneScape Reignited is a good idea. I think the fresh start is appealing for many people (even though there are some reasons I've seen that are debatable) and that it could have had some success.

This being said, the original pitch that Jagex announced and the TIMING of the announcement was absolutely horrible.

Jagex should have initiated a discussion about reignited at the same time the RtR was announced and should have been working WITH the current community, to build a reignited idea that would be considered decent by the active community and by the outsiders of the RS series. Would it respond 100% to the demands on both sides? Probably not, but having a 50% satisfaction is better than zero.

Announcing this at Runefest out of the blue, with no input from the Community beforehand, while the RtR is still ongoing, with the early-mid game still to be massively rebalanced and revamped/improved, is one of the worst case of PR I've ever seen in recent years.

Following the response by Jagex to the initial backlash last week, I was already seeing some goodwill and I thought they would have built on that feedback with the community. Instead, we got a "we hear you, let's build on this idea together" followed by "you know what? We're just scrapping it", which I think is the wrong move. It should have been postponed until the RtR is done and in the meantime, with community input, revamped so the idea is keeping its appeal to new players and respecting the active playerbase.

Lastly, this is addressed directly to Jagex: you believe reignited is the only way to bring new players? You believe it's the only saving grace? Fine, but show us your data, show us your projection, show us the "immense appeal" it had outside of the RS community. Explain to us why you originally decided to do reignited. Show us what are your projections in regards to player numbers, how it affects your income and ultimately the development of RS3. Show us tangible facts and data so that everyone can understand better where RS3 stands right now, because right now, there are two sides using hyperboles trying to prove their points, while nobody has a real idea if RS3 is really in danger and if the development will stop.

TLDR: Reignited should have been postponed until the RtR is finished. Jagex should also show us their data explaining why reignited was the only move they could think of and how it's cancellation will now affect the development/support of the game.

Appreciation General Appreciation

• Upvotes

Even though I’ve disagreed on both sides recently on points being made. I still won’t let that bother me from the game that’s been with me since childhood. I still appreciate this community for what it is. I am so stoked for this years road map. A new skilling boss, which I’ve been begging for, with it being a community skilling boss is icing on the cake. Let’s just hope it can’t be griefed. (Public croesus instance flashbacks inserted here)

I think no matter what, the community is here for newer members, even though the negative rhetoric is being thrown around that they aren’t. New, returning players, are all in good hands. There has never been one time I’ve asked a question that the wiki can’t quite answer that I haven’t gotten an answer from clan mates or in game randos.

With that being said, let’s make this year a good year and a very productive year for our community, the mods have been very vocal, and they hear us and take our opinions seriously, and have quite literally been working with us over the road to restoration. So I appreciate knowing our voices are heard.

Thank you RuneScape for over 20 years of grinding and escape. And hopefully here’s to tons more!

Discussion Ideas on improving bolts. Add yours in too

• Upvotes

So the new crossbows are objectively weaker in raw damage than the Bolg/Elder God arrows.

That's completely ok as the Bolg requires a high level of skill to max it's DPS effectively.

I was thinking ideas for bolts could be they are a sidestep in utility purposes over raw dmg

Ideas like

Inflicting debuffs not just defense reduction but reducing a mobs accuracy/damage. So there could be an additional angle to be a teams debuff support. Or maybe something to add a debuff to a bosses primary target, so you could help your teammate by using these bolts. Of course these ideas would need to be balanced carefully

Or maybe inflicting a style specific debuff, so rather than a generic after being hit defense is reduced by X, it could be after being inflicted by this debuff, the boss or mob would take increased damage from magic based attacks, or boss/mob will deal less damage to players wearing mage armour etc , could be balanced by it applying an inverse so maybe it debuffs certain styles but ups others

Prayer restoration perhaps

Bleed bolts / Damage over time

Reducing affinity (I am aware that SWH exists)

A small prayer restoration effect

A stun proc that delays a bosses adrenaline bar gain but doesn't completely negate it

Just throwing some ideas out there,

Question Are there any ironman guides that don't play the game for you?

• Upvotes

I'm trying rs3 for the first time, and I want to play an iron, but everything is so overwhelming. Are there any ironman guides that can kind of nudge me in the right directions but not min max everything and decide my path for me?

Thanks
