Discussion The RS3 Community Behaviour

For some reason the RuneScape 3 community is supposed to act like angels when we're opposed to an overwhelmingly disliked update.

Mod Anvil's comment about how our reaction was over the line is fine as a stand alone comment, but it doesn't exist in a vacuum. Reality is that OSRS players have shat on us for over a decade. Every single time RS3 is mentioned on OSRS there's comment about how they just hope the game would die and that it's just a terrible game. They are entitled to their own opinion, and I hold no grudge against people not wanting to play RuneScape 3 for the gameplay. Completely valid. However, when we apply the comment of Mod Anvil to the community of OSRS and how they interact with RuneScape 3's community, suddenly things are different. OSRS are "allowed" to say as much negative things about the player-base of RS3, how we are "losers" "sunk cost fallacy" and how our game is "dying, and they cant wait".

We have all read comment like this before. And obviously I'm not saying they shouldn't be allowed to comment things like that. They should, but for some reason we get official comments from J-mods that our behaviour is unacceptable. Isn't this odd to anyone else? Where is the official comment from OSRS community managers that them destroying the reputation of RS3 by spreading literally false information is not okay? Just wondering.

Finally, anyone who has been outside the Subreddit has seen the overwhelming sentiment from "new potential players" they gave up before even the cancellation, at the mere mention of changes being made. They were completely unwilling to budge on any point. Zero compromises.

Why is it weird that we defend ourselves, but not weird that others attack us? Just something to think about, I guess.

Again, I want to say that I in no way want to have people not be allowed to make comments like that.

What are everyone else's thoughts on this overall?

Discussion Reignited should have been POSTPONED, not cancelled

• Upvotes

I strongly believe, as a "20+ years veteran" that at its core, RuneScape Reignited is a good idea. I think the fresh start is appealing for many people (even though there are some reasons I've seen that are debatable) and that it could have had some success.

This being said, the original pitch that Jagex announced and the TIMING of the announcement was absolutely horrible.

Jagex should have initiated a discussion about reignited at the same time the RtR was announced and should have been working WITH the current community, to build a reignited idea that would be considered decent by the active community and by the outsiders of the RS series. Would it respond 100% to the demands on both sides? Probably not, but having a 50% satisfaction is better than zero.

Announcing this at Runefest out of the blue, with no input from the Community beforehand, while the RtR is still ongoing, with the early-mid game still to be massively rebalanced and revamped/improved, is one of the worst case of PR I've ever seen in recent years.

Following the response by Jagex to the initial backlash last week, I was already seeing some goodwill and I thought they would have built on that feedback with the community. Instead, we got a "we hear you, let's build on this idea together" followed by "you know what? We're just scrapping it", which I think is the wrong move. It should have been postponed until the RtR is done and in the meantime, with community input, revamped so the idea is keeping its appeal to new players and respecting the active playerbase.

Lastly, this is addressed directly to Jagex: you believe reignited is the only way to bring new players? You believe it's the only saving grace? Fine, but show us your data, show us your projection, show us the "immense appeal" it had outside of the RS community. Explain to us why you originally decided to do reignited. Show us what are your projections in regards to player numbers, how it affects your income and ultimately the development of RS3. Show us tangible facts and data so that everyone can understand better where RS3 stands right now, because right now, there are two sides using hyperboles trying to prove their points, while nobody has a real idea if RS3 is really in danger and if the development will stop.

TLDR: Reignited should have been postponed until the RtR is finished. Jagex should also show us their data explaining why reignited was the only move they could think of and how it's cancellation will now affect the development/support of the game.

Discussion Post reignite cancelation complaints

So many posts about how everyone was "so ready to play" followed up by "reignited canceled will be the end of rs3 " or whatever. These folks were the same that left for MTX and have been bashing the game for 13 years.

Let Jagex continue to cook and give them a chance if youre really that interested instead of hopping on here and saying crazy things that will actually drive new players away.

SO, this question is for those people-

Why dont you just use your wallet to tell jagex whats up?

Question Can we stop with the reignited related posts?

I'm not hating on the cancellation. As a veteran player, I was against it too and the protests was great. But now it's cancelled and finished.

Yet y'all are still creating posts about it. Can we please just talk about the amazing road map instead now? There's a lot of great things there and not nearly enough discussion / hype for those

Question Why don't we all agree to just create f2p accounts (with the 10 day membership) on Dec 2nd to help new people feel like a part of something.

Idk, one of the complaints I see from the folks who did like reignited was they're going to join to an empty world. Why don't we just make characters and play them alongside them to help them feel more a part of things? You'd still get the 10 free days of membership too.

edit: holy crap lol this is the most miserable community I've ever seen.

Discussion RuneScape needs to evolve, but not at the expense of its veteran players

I completely understand the appeal of RuneScape Reignited. I see how it can attract new and returning players that could benefit the long-term future of the game.

However I know that this cannot come at the expense of the progress veteran players have made over the years or in my case - since 2003 (with a 13 year gap in between). My character is not just the stats which I have poured plenty of time and effort - it is a representation of history that should not be discarded, equally I want to share that history with both veteran and new players moving forward.

My concern with Reignited was never about giving new players opportunities - I would be thrilled to welcome you all and please say hello. My concern was about creating a future where existing players would find themselves increasingly isolated and disenfranchised so their accomplishments/time and history would be disposed of.

This reminds me of a quote "A candle does not lose its flame by lighting another"

There is an important distinction between giving new players a fresh start and making veteran players feel they need to start again to remain relevant.

I appreciate that Jagex has listened to the community and cancelled Reignited. However, I hope the underlying lesson is not that fresh starts are inherently bad, but that growth should not come at the expense of those who have supported the game for years.

I'm interested to hear what others think, particularly those who supported Reignited. Is there a way to deliver the benefits of a fresh start without undermining existing accounts?

Discussion Can we please have our cake and eat it too?

Since reignited's cancellation I'm seeing an annoying trend of tone-deaf posts encouraging new players to just try the game, or that we should advertise more or come up with some other idea to attract new users. Reignited WAS the idea to attract new players, and a few days ago this community was collectively threatening to quit unless the idea got completely canned. Most people were not even interested in giving any concessions and to them a full cancellation was the only acceptable outcome.

Like it or not, reignited was the strongest advertising campaign Jagex has released in the last decade. I saw people in circles that I've never seen mention RS3 talking about the game and expressing interest. You can't murder that idea in its crib then turn around and be shocked that there's no lineup of new players waiting to join the game. The choice was made, the invitation to new players was withdrawn over concerns that veteran players might get sidelined in some hypothetical doomsday scenario 5-10 years from now. Most of the people who were planning to start new accounts now revile this community for being toxic and unwelcoming.

Humor Can y’all shut up about people telling people to shut up about Reignited now?

• Upvotes

I’m genuinely getting tired of opening this subreddit and seeing people complaining about other people talking about Reignited.

We get it. You’re tired of seeing posts about it. Congratulations.

But did we really need an entirely new post announcing that you’re tired of seeing posts? What exactly were you hoping to accomplish here?
The funniest part is complaining about people writing essays because they think they have some groundbreaking opinion, while simultaneously making a post acting like telling everyone to shut up is some groundbreaking opinion.

Like seriously, think about that for a second.
You saw people discussing something you weren’t interested in anymore, and instead of scrolling past it like a normal person, you decided the entire subreddit needed to hear about how annoyed you were.

And now here we are. Another post about Reignited.
Except this time we’re not even discussing Reignited. We’re discussing people discussing Reignited, which apparently is a much more worthwhile use of everyone’s time.

Personally, I think we need to start making posts about people making posts about people making posts about Reignited. Maybe then we’ll finally get to the bottom of this.

I mean where does it end?

If I don’t like seeing posts about people complaining about Reignited, am I supposed to make a post telling those people to shut up too?

And then someone else makes a post telling me to shut up?

Before you know it the entire subreddit is just people telling each other to shut up.

Actually, now that I think about it, that’s pretty much where we’re at already.

And another thing, who exactly decided Reignited was no longer allowed to be discussed?

Was there a meeting? Did we vote on this?

Did Jagex release an official statement declaring that all Reignited conversations must immediately cease because one guy on Reddit has had enough?

I must’ve missed that update.

Anyway, I just wanted to get this off my chest because I feel like nobody else has been
brave enough to address the real issue here.

Hopefully we can finally move on from all these unnecessary posts and get back to discussing RuneScape.

And please, for the love of god, can everyone stop writing these long essays acting like their opinion is some groundbreaking revelation.
It’s getting ridiculous.

Suggestion Strike while the iron is hot! Improve the new player experience, release seasonal Fresh Start Worlds, new Hiscores for new accounts, and discuss what veteran players would want in a Prestige Mode

One criticism I've seen about Reignited is that some aspects of it were good while some were bad. Why not take the good and expand on them? Jagex has an opportunity to appeal to all players, old and new, with this:

Fix the new player experience.

  • Eliminate the clunky Burthorpe system.

  • Standardize the tutorial so that everyone does Tutorial Island (no Davendale, sorry), and expand that if needed.

  • Fix combat for new players so it doesn't feel so much like waiting for abilities other than auto attack to come out of cooldown by unlocking core rotation abilities sooner.

A lot of players have spoken about the want to compete for "world firsts" and grow a new economy. Why not have this in Fresh Start Worlds?

  • Allow someone to create a new account that would start in a Fresh Start World. These worlds would be just like the main RS3, no bonuses or anything extra, just a new world and new economy.

  • Allow players to port their account to the main RS3 worlds at any time. For example, these worlds can start up every 6 months and last for a year or so (when the economy stabilizes essentially) then every account on those servers is transported to the main servers with everything they earned there.

  • This would allow new and existing players to have a new economy/world experience often without keeping communities permanently separated.

Create a new Hiscore system for all new accounts that do not use Radiant Stars.

  • All new accounts after a set date will be added to a brand new Hiscores system.

  • If Reignited was going to have no Radiant Stars, this should align with both player and Jagex expectations.

  • Allow players to Prestige to be a part of the new Hiscores

Develop a Prestige Mode with veteran players

  • Allow players to reset their progress from 1

  • All Prestige players would be added to the new Hiscores for their prestige experience

  • Lock away the earned bank until a certain point where it is deemed the player completed their prestige and can do it again (maxed? would need to be discussed)

  • Allow players to quit out this mode any time without penalty, but would have to start from scratch if prestiging again (can't just go back and forth)

  • Poll all of this from current players with discussion on what they want to see

Jagex, there is no better time than now. If new players are looking to join, or if old players are looking for the new experience, why not give that to them?

Note: I have no idea how to make numbers and bulletpoints work with Reddit's version of markdown so I decided to use ### and asterisk. Apologies for the bold.

Question In limbo

I just finished dragonwilds and I was interested in returning to RS3 after hearing the reignited news, now with that dream of fresh squashed I’m honestly still interested in playing rs3 over osrs. I’m just worried that I’ll be sinking my time into something going downhill. I would play osrs but I’m really not a huge fan of the menu combat. I’m a wow player mainly (mythic raiding, high performer) and I actually like the combat changes in rs3 but it’s still looming over my head.

If I played rs3 I’d most likely go Ironman, right now I’m sorta just farming yew trees in lumby on f2p osrs not knowing what to do. When I was playing my osrs Ironman I was following a guide rushing me to corrupted gauntlet as a hardcore Ironman, it was pretty useful to learn quickly what is important. Is there a similar guide for RS3 Ironman?

Discussion We are not and have never been 'tainted'.

"The idea that anyone who was interested in Reignited is a veteran was is at best a tourist a tainted account and at worst a troll an MTX abuser who achieved their stats via lamps and stars, is something that can cause a deeply unhealthy ongoing narrative to develop.

  • Such a narrative is based purely on assumption, not reality.
  • Such a narrative is based on hyperbole and extremes. Black and White, there is no Grey.
  • Such a narrative does not make anyone feel better about the situation. Instead, it only diminishes the viewpoint of other people and reduces them to someone that can just be handwaved away.

This is the kind of attitude that, if it continues to propagate, will turn new players who are genuinely curious about RuneScape away from the game we all know and love."

Mod Anvil,

I had to take your comments in another long thread and make a couple of adjustments to represent the other side of the coin here.

Jagex (a specific Mod who shall not be named) first used the word "tainted" in an announcement concerning RS/MTX/Integrity.

It's an important point that since that time, the 'tainted' label has been allowed application to veterans by and from a large part of the crowd who were supporting Reignited - many of whom were open in their belief and desire to see veteran accounts not just segregated but deleted over time.

Jagex never really addressed that derogatory labeling - that I have seen - in all of this.

The truth: no one playing as a veteran account in RS is tainted. And that needs to be reiterated publicly and prominently by Jagex.

Discussion Reignited Flopped Outside RuneScape Community | Data Analysis

As I've been discussing Reignited on this sub over the past few days, one thing keeps coming up: the assumption that the mode would somehow "save" RS3 and bring in enough new players to justify the risks of alienating the existing player base.

But where is the actual evidence for that assumption? In this post, I want to look at some publicly available data suggesting that Reignited performed well below what you would expect from a relaunch supposedly aimed at expanding RuneScape's audience, particularly beyond its existing community. Btw, I do believe that's why Jagex end up cancelling the thing.

Let's establish one important distinction first: attracting a few OSRS players to RS3 would not necessarily represent a net gain in subscribers for Jagex. Those players are already part of the RuneScape ecosystem as costumers. To justify the opportunity cost and the risk of damaging trust with the existing player base, Reignited needed to attract new players from outside the RuneScape community and convert at least some of them into long-term subscribers.

So, how much interest did it actually generate?

YouTube

Let's start with the trailers. YouTube isn't a perfect measure of a game's success, but it gives us a useful indication of how much attention a release generates, especially when we compare similar promotional materials across multiple channels.

  • The RuneScape Reignited trailer received 203k views on the official channel and 124k on IGN's channel. On the official channel, the video received 2,000 likes and 1,500 dislikes. On IGN, it received 681 likes and 94 dislikes, indicating extremely low engagement.
  • For comparison, the Dragonwilds launch trailer received 1.1 million views on the official channel, 685k on IGN, and 127k on the PlayStation channel. The announcement of Dragonwilds' major update, Dowdun Reach, received 2.4 million views.
  • "Dragonwilds is not an MMO." Fair enough. WoW: Forever received 4.3 million views on its gameplay trailer and 4.7 million on its cinematic trailer on the official channel. On IGN, it received 453k views.
  • Six years ago, the New World trailer received 17 million views on its official channel and 1.7 million across IGN's channels, back when YouTube counted a view only after 15–30 seconds of watch time, unlike today's metric, which counts a view as soon as a video starts playing. New World peaked at over 913,000 concurrent players on Steam at launch in October 2021. By September 2026, it was averaging roughly 450 concurrent Steam players and will be shut down. In other words, even a spectacular launch doesn't guarantee that the initial hype will last.
  • Reignited's YouTube metrics suggest that it was a flop even in terms of launch visibility. The supposed RuneScape "relaunch" failed to break out of its own bubble.

Google Trends

If you think the laughably low view counts for a supposed major release aren't enough, let's look at Google Trends, some good old big data. Let's compare RuneScape Reignited, Dragonwilds, Valheim and WoW: Forever, all releases of a similar magnitude (I'm not including GTA VI here). Included OSRS as a baseline.

See that barely visible blue line? Well, that's Reignited for you.

The same trend holds when you switch the filter to YouTube Search or News Search, and the gap becomes even more pronounced when you compare the games over the same period following their respective announcement dates. Reignited doesn't even come close to reaching a tenth of the attention the other releases received. What's more, the controversy surrounding Reignited should have boosted its Google Trends numbers. Yet the data suggests that the discussion remained largely confined to our own community, with very little impact beyond it.

Reddit and social media in general

Since we don't have objective data to work with, we have to rely on a qualitative assessment of the available evidence. On r/MMORPG and r/Games, some posts about Reignited did generate discussion, and there are indeed dozens of players saying they would give the game a try because of Reignited. As I've said, I'm not denying that the mode has some appeal. My point is that this initial interest does not guarantee either long-term engagement or that any success would offset the damage to Jagex's relationship with its existing playerbase, given how poorly Reignited was handled in terms of its impact on current players. We're talking about a game with around 20k concurrent players and approximately 200k subscribers, according to Jagex, which is hardly an insignificant playerbase, despite what some people suggest.

That said, compare Reignited's reception with the impact of WoW Forever or even New World six years ago on the same subreddit, and the difference is noticeable. Reignited simply didn't generate the same level of attention. WoW Forever, by contrast, has been a successful launch, with its massive engagement across social media, YouTube, Twitch, and Google Trends reflecting that. On Twitter/X, Reignited's reach also appears noticeably smaller than that of the other releases being compared, despite all the controversy surrounding it.

At best, Reignited might have achieved a fraction of WoW Forever's reach, all at the cost of alienating the existing playerbase.

"Relaunch"

Jagex marketed Reignited as the relaunch of RS3. For an announcement of that scale, however, it was a massive flop in terms of its reach beyond the RuneScape community. The mode clearly has some appeal, and I believe a version of FSW could be developed in the future in collaboration with the community, rebuilding trust rather than creating a rift between Jagex and its existing players.

Objectively speaking, though, Reignited failed to generate the kind of broader attention you'd expect from a "relaunch" of this scale. And even if it had attracted a significant number of newcomers, which is a big if given the numbers, that would only have been the first step. Keeping those newcomers engaged while dealing with growing divisions within the community would have been difficult. And honestly, Jagex's track record gives little reason to believe the company would have handled that challenge well. Its history has shown time and again how poorly it responds to conflict and player dissatisfaction, especially when it chooses to ignore its playerbase's concerns.

What do you think? Let's discuss :)

Discussion I think it’s fair for current players to not want new players who actively desire to harm their own enjoyment of the game. #WhyReignitedDied

Allow me to run through the reasons pro-Reignited voices were excited…

A fresh start with a living early game periphery of other new players

… which is a completely valid desire. No complaints. The veteran community SHOULD want this as well - or at least the second half of it, the game having a vibrant early game experience.

A cleansing of previous malignant influences of P2W among players I may encounter for the assurance that those I compare myself against have truly earned their achievements. Seperate game worlds perhaps, or the inability to boss alongside players who have started previously.

… I’m able to still follow this from the perspective that MTX, for some players, was so foundational that it stunted genuine knowledge of the game and it would be jarring to talk to a maxed player who doesn’t seem to know RS. I do think that while comparison is a natural way to attack an MMO, it’s also being made into the robber of joy here. I’m starting to be lost…

A fresh hi-scores.

If this is seasonal, sure.

A separate economy-

For a short time this is understandable, chasing after first drops is fu-

…that is permanent - be it to ensure it doesn’t get influenced by MTX or because I don’t see a reason the Reignited economy needs to merge.

—

That last part, about the split economy, was the proverbial light switch.

At a certain point, there is no grey area, no room to compromise, no middle to meet in.

A Veteran main account’s long term viability is centered pretty heavily on the assurance that the economy doesn’t collapse and there is no demand for any items anymore. A successful Reignited as it was pitched presents this scenario and puts the Veteran account on life support.

A Reignited player’s core experience on the other hand is dependent on the fresh economy for maximum enjoyment from a gameplay perspective (I.e. rushing to get certain boss drops first to set their value) and if Jagex’s marketing is indicative - the split economy was meant to reinforce this ‘pure’ return to form RS3 has taken. There would likely be many lost new player targets were Jagex to relent on this, which would have made going through with Reignited questionable if it was simply just Fresh Start Worlds.

—

Now. Title. Why aggro? Well.

There comes a point where you don’t allow a burglar into your home. Players that want a permanent split economy are players that want my account’s viability to wither up. Whether they know it or not, they are wishing harm to my enjoyment of RuneScape.

Should the RS3 community want new players? Yes. And I believe they do. Badly.

But we need to not kid ourselves here. If the other side is wishing us harm, we DON’T want them playing the game.

Discussion Reignited is gone and why it's a good thing

A lot of people are talking about MTX achievements blah blah blah but as a 20 year+ on and off veteran my only concern is consolidating the player base. There was absolutely no need to introduce a useless new game mode that would further fragment the playerbase. The new game mode no sense to me, it's the same main game mode but just a fresh start?

Why? Totally unnecessary and stupid. After a couple of years the economy in the new game mode would become the same as the older one and then you would have 2 copies of the same game mode running. If people are so concerned about MTX, why not just wipe out all MTX pets titles etc. from main accounts, clean out the bloated content and everyone's as good to go.

Who the hell cares about achieving something first? The average RuneScaper certainly does not. Most of the skills were 99'ed way back in the 2000s. I see most veterans debating over the most useless stuff, MTX boosted first achievments or what not. The fact is simple, no veteran is going to love a fresh start because RuneScape is a very time consuming and time demanding game.

If Jagex wants to fix something, they MUST fix it in the existing paradigm or if introducing a new game mode, it should at least have a gimmick, like how ironman is a solo-experience game mode.

Discussion A way to reignite RS3 - let's try a constructive approach

Even though the community seems divided right now, I think we all want the same thing. We want RS3 to thrive, and I think we can all see that a version of Reignited can be a way to do it.

I believe that this is the way it could be done:

Before Reignited:

  • Complete the road to restoration to a point where most of the paint points are addressed and fixed. To pinpoint which, gather community feedback.
  • We need the unified collection log. It’s a way to attract players (mostly osrs players) and a way to retain players as well.
  • Fix droptables and make skilling great again. A new economy is nice, but it will be just the same if nothing is done about things that caused the bad one.
  • Some stuff should be outright removed. If you have other examples let’s hear it, but I’m thinking about the once upon a slime quest.
  • Remove bonus exp stars.
  • It’s getting asked alot lately: can we login to both games on the same character? The only thing I am asking is some communication. Is this within the realm of possibilities or can we just forget about it?
  • If that is not a possibility, what about membership packages? We have Jagex accounts now, would it be possible to pay full price for the first account, then ⅓ of that for a second one? This might make people play.
  • Make cosmetics usable for all characters on a Jagex account. Cosmetics are very expensive, and players will not buy the same cosmetic on more than one account anyways. This would lose you nothing but would not keep players from trying reignited because of the loss of cosmetics.
  • Let me know if you can think of anything else!

Details of Reignited:

  • New economy. Merge after 3 years.
  • Teaming up with veterans is possible after 1 year.
  • Reignited hiscores, set in stone after 3 years. And merge with regular hiscores after.
  • World seconds/reignited firsts and such should be celebrated but should not replace the actual world firsts.

Then:

  • After all the other things are done. Poll it. Add the polling system to RS3.
  • Market Reignited heavily, before and during. Make sure streamers try it out, pay them if you must.
  • Consider removing the exp cap / adding prestige to the game. Do it 3 years after Reignited, so everyone that wants to can compete on a level playing field.

I think that is most of it. I realise some of the propositions might be a financial hit for Jagex, but if you want to make this game popular again you have to attract players in a way.

Let me know what you think. Disagreeing is completely fine but let’s keep it civil. Open to hear your thoughts!

Suggestion Please give Dragon Slayer 2 a better name.

We have so many great quest names, why do this quest that is supposed to be a sequal to an iconic quest dirty by just slapping a 2 on the back of it? It feels uninspired and we already have a good name ready with the arc name being "Hoard of Dragons". I know it's a small nitpick but it feels like such a waste that can also be easily fixed.

I love quest names in this game so the little extra effort would be appreciated. Just wanted to mention some awesome and witty quest names to me to show off that appreciation too:

The Great Brain Robbery, The World Wakes, Twilight of the Gods, Requiem for a Dragon, Missing, presumed Death

Question What happens to radiant stars?

Now that reignited is cancelled (thank you!), I was wondering if radiant stars were still going to be removed from the store. It’s one of the last MTX things that do not benefit the game IMO. Is there any news on that?

Discussion Jagex needs to build on what made Reignited appealing

I hope Jagex takes a step back and looks at why people were excited about Reignited. For a lot of us, the appeal was starting alongside other players and being part of something that felt new. I don’t think ten days of free membership will create that same excitement.

There’s a difference between making a new account on your own and joining a big launch where other people are starting too. You see people doing the same quests, gathering resources and working towards similar goals. You don’t need to be competing for world firsts to enjoy that. Having people around to share the experience with is a big part of what makes an MMO fun.

But getting people to show up is only half of it. The early and mid game need a much more substantial overhaul if Jagex wants people to stay. Even more so than whats been shown so far.

As someone playing a new account, I want the journey itself to be enjoyable. Gathering and making things should feel worthwhile. Unlocks should give me something useful to look forward to. Meeting another player should feel like a chance to interact, rather than a reason for one of us to hop worlds. Being told to join a clan and get help reaching endgame doesn’t really address those issues and really highlights how terrible the entire player experience actually is. People have openly told me "Ignore everything until endgame"... so how do you expect someone new to endure that?

I think combat especially needs a better introduction. It can be confusing for returning players, let alone someone who has never played before. The game can tell you what an ability does without making it clear when you should use it or why you would choose it over another one.

I’m not asking to be walked through every fight. I want encounters that gradually teach those decisions. Help me understand the reason to use a defensive ability, interrupt an attack or think about the order of my abilities, then let me see the difference it makes. Guides are useful, but the game should give players a solid understanding of the basics first.

Once those improvements are ready, THEN make the launch a proper event. Give new and returning players a clear date to join, show them what has changed and promote it beyond the people already following RS3. Give people a reason to message their friends and say, “Let’s try this together.”

This isn’t a demand to bring Reignited back exactly as it was announced. It’s a request to understand the experience people wanted from it and the very big flaws existing right now and find a way to advertise THAT experience.

Discussion We're being a bit hypocritical.

Killing reignited with as much vitriol as we did and then asking for new players at all is definitely wanting to have your cake and eat it too. it is most definitely hypocrisy, and it is absolutely asking for too much.

Vets fundamentally refuse to stop being obtuse about why a lot of people were excited about reignited in the first place, it was a chance to play RuneScape without us who have been here for 20+ years. Full stop. They did not want a compromise or an eventual merging of the servers so that the maxers only have to wait some time to start flexing questionable gains on noobs. even before it got cancelled i saw plenty of posts calling us out as children for trying to force a compromise that defeated the purpose of the mode in the first place...

The vocal dissenters acted like babies and wrenched their toy back before anyone could play with it, people outside of this community saw that and it is causing a lot of damage to the Mainscaper image.

They introduced Reignited because Runescape needs new players or there was a marked, real interest for it, that's how MMO development works. if RS3 was healthy they would have just kept trucking with RTR and the new roadmap. But they didn't.

The sentiment i am seeing repeated over and over again is that people want to experience Runescape the organic way surrounded by only people who had the option of doing it the organic way. Translating that is easy. they want fresh start worlds that people cannot bring existing accounts to, ever.

Now that, is not asking too much. But we acted like it was and threw a tantrum.

Nothing was going to bring a large influx of players to rs3 "veteran worlds" as they are now called. that ship sailed a long time ago.

Nothing that isn't going to happen anyways now would have happened to veteran players in a post Reignited Runescape, nobody's account was going to get deleted or anything crazy like that, the only difference now is that rs3 has a real risk of shutting down permanently much sooner than in a world where reignited was allowed to happen.

Veteran worlds would have continued to bleed players, reignited existing wasn't going to cause a problem that already exists, and I have serious doubts it was going to inflame it after reading the general sentiment about starting over from most of the mainscapers, you weren't going anywhere regardless, definitely not over to reignited.

All this community has done is ensure that veteran worlds are the only worlds, thereby ensuring that whatever fate befalls this declining game, will befall everyone at once and will likely be final.

Lots of people who might have tried RS3 randomly but found out about Reignited through reddit and twitter and were but off by the fighting exist as well, so that small bit is gone too.

Sad really.

I think it’s time we just move on, as frustrating as it is, I can’t see jagex re changing their minds now.
I was so gutted it got cancelled because i genuinely was excited for it. After I got over the fact we are not getting reignited, I was thinking about making an Ironman. But because of how toxic this community is, I’m just going to walk away and forget about rs3 now.

Good luck
