So I am an OSRS player who has tried to get into RS3 multiple times, the problems i ran into were the mtx shop and the combat system being confusing. (This is from somebody who played a lot of Ocarina of time and would just spam B on all the enemies) and i saw in the quest list the quest "One Piercing Note" and heard that one was infamous because it was fully voice acted. so i gave it a try... and I loved it. i found the story engaging and the conflict enticing. my only complaint was that there were barely any people there (Granted i was on a Free world as i don't have membs yet, i'm saving that for WoW Forever.) and the fact that when i logged in the game gave me free xp lamps and those star thingies. so I kept hearing from over in the OSRS Community that RS3 was horrible and borderline unplayable, but they were wrong, i was wrong. sure it's not like OSRS where half of the game is just AFK-ing while you mine gem crabs. RS3 is more involved than OSRS. (At least as far as i've seen)

For some reason the RuneScape 3 community is supposed to act like angels when we're opposed to an overwhelmingly disliked update.
Mod Anvil's comment about how our reaction was over the line is fine as a stand alone comment, but it doesn't exist in a vacuum. Reality is that OSRS players have shat on us for over a decade. Every single time RS3 is mentioned on OSRS there's comment about how they just hope the game would die and that it's just a terrible game. They are entitled to their own opinion, and I hold no grudge against people not wanting to play RuneScape 3 for the gameplay. Completely valid. However, when we apply the comment of Mod Anvil to the community of OSRS and how they interact with RuneScape 3's community, suddenly things are different. OSRS are "allowed" to say as much negative things about the player-base of RS3, how we are "losers" "sunk cost fallacy" and how our game is "dying, and they cant wait".
We have all read comment like this before. And obviously I'm not saying they shouldn't be allowed to comment things like that. They should, but for some reason we get official comments from J-mods that our behaviour is unacceptable. Isn't this odd to anyone else? Where is the official comment from OSRS community managers that them destroying the reputation of RS3 by spreading literally false information is not okay? Just wondering.
Finally, anyone who has been outside the Subreddit has seen the overwhelming sentiment from "new potential players" they gave up before even the cancellation, at the mere mention of changes being made. They were completely unwilling to budge on any point. Zero compromises.
Why is it weird that we defend ourselves, but not weird that others attack us? Just something to think about, I guess.
Again, I want to say that I in no way want to have people not be allowed to make comments like that.
What are everyone else's thoughts on this overall?

I think this is a great way to bandage your hemoriging playerbase. RS3 is bleeding players prefusely. It looks absolutely dead in it's current state I'm sorry to say guys. While OSRS is climbing in playerbase pretty steadily atm. Jagex could sort of leech a playerbase by allowing us to play both games at the same time.
I know that this won't necessarily result in more money to Jagex, but it'll make the game seem less dead and you can intice players by advertising that the game is seeing a peak amount of players in years, and that might bring in more money to the game.
I for one would play my RS3 account while training on my OSRS account, I know many others would aswell. People suggest it's impossible to code or whatever, I'm sure the Jagex team could do it. Honestly, at this point you could probably feed the idea to an AI and it would be able to do it.

Buying xp in an MMO is bad for the game and bad for new player interest. Remove them

Since reignited's cancellation I'm seeing an annoying trend of tone-deaf posts encouraging new players to just try the game, or that we should advertise more or come up with some other idea to attract new users. Reignited WAS the idea to attract new players, and a few days ago this community was collectively threatening to quit unless the idea got completely canned. Most people were not even interested in giving any concessions and to them a full cancellation was the only acceptable outcome.
Like it or not, reignited was the strongest advertising campaign Jagex has released in the last decade. I saw people in circles that I've never seen mention RS3 talking about the game and expressing interest. You can't murder that idea in its crib then turn around and be shocked that there's no lineup of new players waiting to join the game. The choice was made, the invitation to new players was withdrawn over concerns that veteran players might get sidelined in some hypothetical doomsday scenario 5-10 years from now. Most of the people who were planning to start new accounts now revile this community for being toxic and unwelcoming.

Seeing what happened with Reignited, this surely isn't a new thought, but why can't RS3 have something closer to the OSRS approach when it comes to major changes to the game?
Not necessarily polling every update or letting players design the game by committee, but giving the community a meaningful vote or feedback stage before Jagex commits heavily to major changes.
OSRS seems like a pretty strong example that this kind of relationship with the playerbase can work. The game is thriving, and while polling obviously isn't the only reason for that, players having a real say in major changes probably helps create trust and keeps development aligned with what the community actually wants.
Sure, that takes away some of the surprise. But surprises also carry the risk of turning into disasters, and RuneScape's history has given us a few examples of that already.
From Jagex's perspective, it could also prevent a lot of time and money being poured into features that the playerbase might not actually want.
There's a pretty basic principle from agile software development that applies here: get feedback from your customer as early as possible, especially while you're building something significant. Don't spend months developing behind a curtain, reveal the finished idea, and only then discover that your users fundamentally don't want it.
Reignited feels like a pretty good example of what happens when that feedback loop comes far too late.

Inspired by mod Ryans call to shout out the good, full time lurker had to make an account and post.
I haven't really seen a thread fully giving flowers to I believe team that worked on the knights. The growth and evolution of the team starting with Sanctum has been continued and is noticed. With all the recent talks about reignited and what makes RS3 fun, I think the ALL GAS NO BRAKES PvM is a true niche that it's beginning to fulfil with its combat system.
This release I've seen even the highest level of PvMers yak brewing it up to then no fooding 2k GBKs. The boss fight itself is nonstop action and challenges you to get good. I'd gauge myself as a B+ on the level of PvM with most master and half GM challenges done and doing this release has noticeably made me improve. I've noticed this impact for the rest of RS as well chilling FC's, I think everyone whose done the Knights skill floor has improved. My duo whose more casual going from yak brew to learning SS flicks and other improvements I've noticed passively. It's been fun to see its impact on the community and friends made from group content.
Just wanted to say thanks again to the team for a really fun ALL GAS NO BRAKES fight and my vote is for this trend to continue.
(Sorry if I cooked any formal reddit things, I'm a reddit noob)

I've found that for some reason, many people are unaware of the existence of the repair all option on the pedestal at the center of the ritual site.
Every time I am there, I try to spread awareness to keep people from wasting a ton of time repairing individual glyphs and light sources. Hopefully this post helps someone that wasn't aware.

Initially, I only planned to achieve the normal quest cape. But then the goal kept shifting to max, getting most of the BiS necro gear, comp cape and then finally the MQC which I achieved today!
I added some screenshots of the more... "spicy" boss kills I have on this account. (yes it took me 500 HM vorkath kills to get LOB)
Now that I'm done with that I could of course grind out trimmed, but playing it safe is starting to get boring. Furthermore, deathtouched darts are going to be removed soon so I am taking this as a sign to do telos, which will very likely kill the account, but like I said playing it safe is getting boring!

For context I still play on an early/mid duo CGIM.
I have a main with pretty much all boss logs and a few clue logs completed.
If the collection log update brings in hundreds of new log slots Iāll be jumping on that so fast.
The collection log part of osrs is one thing that Iām in awe of as an rs3 player.
Itās not just the boss logs or clue or slayer logs itās the little things the new fenshell knife is a great example.
I hope this update brings out a couple hundred unique items that can come from unique ways to skill.
This could be absolutely amazing if new content allows it. Thereās over 1,700 unique log slots in osrs and playing for collection log progress is how a lot of end game people play OSRS I want that for RS3.
Before anyone says we get log spots and thereās nothing stopping me doing ghrazi knights now this is true but.
We got like under 20 new clogs this year and update like this could bring in hundreds a year.

It's been an observation of mine over these past few weeks , especially that there 's just a lot of misinformation about the main game out there.
Don't get me wrong. We still have a lot of shit wrong and it's not incorrect when people point it out , but especially during reigniteds discussions but there was just a lot of information being put out there that ranged from just a bit outdated , or there was a nugget of truth still , but wasn't correct anymore to straight up fabrications
And really, there's no one at fault, so to speak for this happening. It's just , we tend to be a fair bit more passive than some of the other long running communities out there where, unless it's a rare occasion, most of us are too busy or just don't care enough to actually speak up when someone Is spouting off nonsense .. but that doesn't mean we should continue to let it keep happening.
If we really want to see new blood, besides of course fixing what needs fixing, we need to really start correcting some of the misinformation about the game out there. Devs and player alike

Seriously, Linux gaming is on the rise. An advertised native linux launcher for runescape can be a genuine point of entry and marketing for linux nerds. These tend to be people that tinker around and have patience. This is a prime audience.
Essentially, it could feel like a new thing. Currently, bolt launcher works and osrs guys have runelite. But rs3 bros need to use steam to launch runescape 3. It's okay but it isnt perfect.
Make it native. Add it to the discover store, as a flatpak, as an app image etc etc. Make it easily accessible so that when someone new opens something with kde plasma or gnome or cinammon or whatever can hit games and see "oh look runescape!"

With the portable well being removed, an important QoL disappears.
Do you remember how it used to be before? If you want to make an extreme potion, you have to click use on the extra ingredient and then click on the super potion. But occasionally, you would misclick or slip up and accidentally took a sip and ruin that entire vial? Good times...
This reminds me how bloated Herblore is: cleaning herbs, making unfinished potions and having 4 versions of each potion in the GE. If Jagex would make RS3 from scratch today, I don't believe they would make Herblore as it is today.
So, this is my idea of fixing Herblore
There's no need to have a double version of each herb - grimy and clean. If it is from a monster drop or harvesting a herb patch, there should be one herb item. Just irit herb, torstol herb, avantoe herb, ranarr herb,... That will also remove a menial task (cleaning herbs) and the (already useless) Herblore cape can get a new perk (later more which).
Another item that shouldn't exist: unfinished potions. If you click mix on a vial of water, you should make the potion instantly if you have all the items in your inventory. Jagex can adjust the number of ticks required so it's basically the same xp/hour. It will make loading from banks so much easier as you just load 9 of each in your inventory with just one preset and be done with it.
Removing these bloat items and menial actions will save space in your bank, in the GE and overall QoL improvement.
If you're making potions, especially overload potions that require multiple potions, you get a bank that's quickly full. Not to mention that sometimes you need a (3) version and sometimes a (4) version.
So, throughout Gielinor, there should be a potion cabinet with a botanist's workbench for you to use. Like with metal banks, a potion bank will bring an important QoL to the game. You can store all herbs, secondary ingredients, vials & flasks and potions into the potion cabinet.
Possible locations of potion cabinets: Aggie in Draynor, Betty in Port Sarim, Hetty in Rimmington (after Witch's Potion), Apothecary in Varrock, Maysa in Pollnivneach, Zahur in Nardah, Baba Yaga in Lunar Isle, Lady Meilyr in Prifddinas, at the Botanist's Workbench in Fort Forinthry and of course at War's Retreat.
The potion cabinet doesn't store physical potions, but potion doses. If you want to put a potion in your inventory, it automatically decants it in a vial or flask (if available). If you use a potion and you've for instant 2-doses left, you simply store it back into the cabinet. Storing this way does not break flasks, you store the empty flask back.
This also removes the need for (1) and (2) versions of each potion in the GE. Only the (3) and (4) versions should be tradeable and the rest are untradeable. This will remove a lot of bloat in the GE.
Zahur and Granny Rowan don't need to decant your potions anymore.
What with the herb bag? It gets its original purpose back: a temporary storage item during PvM. It was never meant to be a bank space saver. Of course, you can directly deposit herbs from the herb bag to the potion cabinet.
With a potion bank available, there's one thing missing: a skilling station. Some potion cabinets will have a cauldron available.
Like with an anvil, cauldrons will have all stored herbs, secondary ingredients, vials & flasks and potions available to you. With one click, you can make any potion that you want in an improved menu, with potions sorted by type (combat, skilling) and strength (regular, super, extreme,...). This way, you make 28 potions per click, without needing to load ingredients. You can then deposit with two clicks all those potions back into the potion bank and start again.
All effects that make a (4) potion will instead make an extra dose and send it straight to your potion bank.
You're not obligated to use the cauldron; you can still stand at a bank, load the ingredients and mix it straight from a vial of water. Using a cauldron doesn't add a benefit, it just makes it more convenient and faster.
A second function of a cauldron is that you can take one dose of a potion of your choosing (a configure option which one is available), without needing to physically extract it from your potion bank. To keep the recent POH potion cauldrons relevant, those still allow you to take more than one dose and customise how much doses you take with each sip.
One good aspect of Herblore is that it is upgradeable. To make an extreme prayer potion, you need a super prayer potion. To make a super prayer potion, you need a regular prayer potion.
This interconnectivity makes that each potion has its use in the economy. Lots of potions still retain value because they are a building block for an endgame potion downstream.
There are, however, potions that do not have this unbreakable chain. For instant, the super combat potions do not require the regular combat potions to make. This way, guam and tarromin are absolutely worthless. For a low-level player, regular combat potions have no resale value and are absolutely worthless beyond using it for yourself. Herblore only becomes profitable with super combat potions, which start at level 45.
This has to change. Every better version of a potion should require a lower version as a basis. This will require some changes in the use of herbs and secondary ingredients.
With Ironman mode in mind, stacking up potions this hard will make potion making very slow.
To ameliorate, you get two boosts at higher levels:
- At 88 Herblore, you make regular potions 1 tick faster.
- At 95 Herblore, you make regular and super potions 1 tick faster.
The Herblore cape perk has a 1% chance to make all potions instantly, while earning all xp.
The Master Herblore cape keeps the current perk.
The Botanists' Amulet is pretty useless. You should be able to stack up to 1000 charges. Maybe Invention should provide a compactor device?
With these improvements, Herblore becomes a better, smoother skill.

Even though Iāve disagreed on both sides recently on points being made. I still wonāt let that bother me from the game thatās been with me since childhood. I still appreciate this community for what it is. I am so stoked for this years road map. A new skilling boss, which Iāve been begging for, with it being a community skilling boss is icing on the cake. Letās just hope it canāt be griefed. (Public croesus instance flashbacks inserted here)
I think no matter what, the community is here for newer members, even though the negative rhetoric is being thrown around that they arenāt. New, returning players, are all in good hands. There has never been one time Iāve asked a question that the wiki canāt quite answer that I havenāt gotten an answer from clan mates or in game randos.
With that being said, letās make this year a good year and a very productive year for our community, the mods have been very vocal, and they hear us and take our opinions seriously, and have quite literally been working with us over the road to restoration. So I appreciate knowing our voices are heard.
Thank you RuneScape for over 20 years of grinding and escape. And hopefully hereās to tons more!

As a osrs player my biggest gripe with rs3 is I have to stop my grind on one to play the other and we all hate to waste XP. If you want your game to grow donāt continue to penalize your potential player base. 4 years ago membership was $80 USD and a second or 3rd account with members was manageable, now itās $132 a year, its time for a change. At this current hour 90,062 players are online RuneScape 76,2329 of which are on Old School. Maybe itās time you looked into allowing us to play both games as advertised but at the same time. With the migration of all legacy accounts moving to a Jagex account why not implement a membership for the Jagex account itself at the current yearly rate and then a separate premium price for each additional ācharacter slotā per year at an additional $20-$30 per year per character. This would bring in additional revenue for the company while satisfying the need for multiple accounts to play both games, additional game modes, and seasonal events. Iād love to play both games but unfortunately for myself and many others rs3 is an XP waste and we shouldnāt have to sacrifice our enjoyment of old school to play rs3.

This is a tiny mostly insignificant ask, but if a J-Mod happens to see this and has a moment, could you please add the Fenmoor/Goblin Village Bloodwood tree to the skillguide?
Not sure if there is anything else like this added to Havenhythe missing from the skillguide anywhere.

Hey all,
Played runescape over ten years ago. Coming back to game now starting as new player with my partner. And have some questions.
- do you have separate characters for rors or Rs3?
- which do you recommend to start playing? We currently started Rs3 but been wondering if worth jumping over to osrs?
