Ok so I’m gonna be honest, I’m not exactly sure how to post this but I’m gonna try my best to meet the guidelines and we’ll see what happens lmao
I have been having issues with black screening since I got this pc (pre-build custom PC from Ibuypower; it’s like uhhh.. 4 years old?)
And I’m gonna be honest, I’ve never tried to replace a part in it before.
But, after trying all solutions I could think of, and also just looking at Microsoft event viewer (duh), I found my issue
A Kernel Power 41 code
Upon looking further, I learned this is a PSU issue specifically, at least 9 times out of 10 it is. (God I hope it’s just a PSU issue I do not have the money for a new GPU)
So, I took the liberty of ordering a new PSU to replace it.
The PSU in question I’m replacing is a Hi-Power non-modular 750 watt PSU. It was a gift, and my mom probably wasn’t thinking about the PSU all too much. Which, fair.
The PSU I’m receiving is a Corsair RM850e modular PSU with 850 watts.
I’ve gone through and checked it with my case on pcpartpicker to ensure it would be the correct size and stuff, but the main thing I’m worried about is the actual installation.
I’ve never touched the innards of a PC, and unlike most cases I’ve seen, mine (Lian Li Lancool II) has no wires in the back. Instead it just has a bunch of panels with screws (picture shown, I can provide a better one if needed)
So, what am I getting myself into, how hard of a replacement is this gonna be, and what tips should I know going in?
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!
