πŸ—£οΈ αˆ•α‰Άα‰³α‰΅/questions Anachronistic beliefs that exist within our community ?

β€’ Upvotes

The first and second Woyane are two of the most important strands of Ethiopian history that matter for a lot Tigrayans. While the first Woyane was a popular rebellion against centralization that was spearheaded by peasants and some political leaders(without any specific political goals other than autonomy), the second Woyane was a more ideologically driven phenomenon that had was built on the memory of the first one.

Would I be right in saying the most important aspect of it was the question of autonomy for our people ? Should we emphasize that aspect of the first one rather than celebrating the failed outcomes of the second one(Tigray not having much autonomy even during EPRDF) ?

πŸ“° α‹œαŠ“/news U.S secretary of state Marco Rubio has just falsely labelled the TPLF as separatists and as terrorists due to the drone strike by the ASF against the ENDF's headquarters in Addis but not Ethiopia for targeting and attacking Tigray's civilians. Yet again the West aren't hiding their support for Abiy.

πŸ’¬ αˆα‹α‹αŒ₯/discussions Who is in currently administering Western Tigray? Is it the federal government or Fano?

If the federal government are the ones in control, how come they have been blaming the TPLF for not upholding the Pretoria agreement if one of the key terms were IDPs being released. In addition, I saw he believes in holding a referendum? Do you all agree that a referendum should be held considering its objectively been a Tigrayan majority for as long as data has been recorded of the region? Do you think he means a referendum will take place after IDPs have been released or he's just lying and it will remain under his/Amhara control?

α‹°αŠ•αŒŠαŒΈ (dengitse/dengixe) means I was shocked in Tigrayan Tigrigna, whereas in Eritrea α‹°αŠ•αŒŠαŒΈ is used for having sympathy and αˆ°αˆα‰’α‹° (sembide) would describe shock. What is the word for feeling sympathy in Tigray?

πŸ“° α‹œαŠ“/news The Abiy regime has somehow managed to hijack control of Tigrai TV's Youtube and Facebook accounts and it's unclear at this stage whether they've taken control over their Twitter accounts too. This follows the drone strike against Tigrai TV just last month. Just like before, silencing Tigray's voice

πŸ’¬ αˆα‹α‹αŒ₯/discussions TPLF/TDF are going to regain control over all of Tigray!!

here is why:

  1. Tigray's difficult terrain

Tigray's mountainous landscape can make military control difficult, especially outside major towns. Familiarity with the region and local support could help Tigrayan forces remain active even after losing urban centres.

  1. Previous combat experience

TDF forces fought the Ethiopian military during the 2020–2022 war. Their previous experience and established local networks could help them recover from setbacks, although their current strength and readiness are difficult to verify independently.

  1. Unresolved political grievances

Disputed Western Tigray, displacement, and the failure to resolve key issues under the Pretoria Agreement create continuing political tensions. These grievances could sustain support for a campaign to restore territorial control.

4.The alliances could help the TPLF

A. Less political isolation

During the 2020–2022 war, the TPLF faced a coalition that included the federal government, Eritrea and Amhara forces. In 2026, some former enemies of the TPLF have become partners against the federal government. This is a major change in the political landscape.

B. The federal government faces several simultaneous insurgencies

Fano operates in Amhara, while the OLA operates in Oromia. These conflicts place demands on federal security resources beyond Tigray. The existence of multiple fronts could create political and military pressure

πŸ’¬ αˆα‹α‹αŒ₯/discussions What do people intend the future of Tigray to be

I wanted to get a conversation of what other people thought of when they think of the future for tigray. With Ethiopia not being a nation but a multinational federation, do you believe it is even possible to run this country with it not being an authoritarian nation. Do you believe that even if Tigray did leave Ethiopia, would you believe that the Ethiopian government would then proceed to the try to fight Tigray again. Let's say hypothetically that Tigray left, then the Ethiopian government built a military, then they want Eritrea all over again, then what? Eritrea might even outright just try to fight us again thinking the Ethiopian government is on there side and then realise after the war that now Ethiopia wants to fight them. What is the plan for us if we win the war, do Ethiopians desire to just have a nation or what?

πŸ“° α‹œαŠ“/news Many people are reporting that the ENDF-TPF have been intentionally trying to create a security vacuum following the TPLF's withdrawal from Tigray's towns and cities in order to provide legitimacy for their presence but the people have already begun organizing themselves against crime

I can also confirm this to be the case after having spoken to family members over the phone yesterday and for those with family in areas that have been newly occupied, you can also confirm this by calling your family members or other people you know in those areas when you're able too.

I never thought this day would come: the day these criminals, shiftas, thieves, murderers, and bandas who have betrayed us and sold us out to Ethiopia and Eritrea time and time again would lose the only thing they truly care about: power.

I'm glad they are finally being kicked out of Tigray, though even this does not feel like enough. I hope this is the end of their rule. I hope they never again return to our lands or show their faces in Tigray as though nothing happened. For these people, losing power, losing their grip over Tegaru, and being cast out of our minds is the worst punishment.

But losing power is only the beginning. One day, they will answer for what they did: for every life lost, every family shattered, every resource exploited for personal gain, every failure, and every betrayal they thought we would forget.

I hope Abiy, Getachew's group, Fano, and Shaebiya also face accountability for the suffering they helped bring upon our people. Every country that provided weaponry, money, and whatever else, supported the PP government, and participated in anyway.

Those who believe we are better off under Abiy simply because they hate the TPLF still don't get it. All of these warmongers are evil!

I hope the time will come when our people should never have to choose between two evils ever again. Tigray deserves leaders who serve the people, protect their rights, and treat their lives and dignity as more important than power.

I hope the day comes when every group responsible for our suffering is held accountable. I hope our people can grieve, rebuild, and live without fear of being used as pawns in someone else's struggle for control.

And I hope, one day, all these groups and all this suffering become distant history.

It seems as though most towns have been captured by the TPF/PP alliance with the TPF announcing that it will continue to Zalembessa, Adwa and Rama tomorrow (essentially on the Eritrean border) and calls for TPLF fighters to stand down. Of course, it seems now that the war is only about to start and seemingly along the border, perhaps were Eritrean support is more likely.

πŸ’¬ αˆα‹α‹αŒ₯/discussions Trying to understand the Tigray people's psychic

I am an Ethiopian, I have spent most of my life now outside the country, and almost all of my formitive years in the diaspora. I do not have a special affinity for any ethnic group whatsoever, I find ethnic politics to be stupid as it is applied in Ethiopia. For example this obsession with 'blood' or DNA i find to be borderline Nazi adjacent, and secondly it doesn't even make sense if you were to make that argument because there was so much interbreeding between the different groups in Ethiopia, there is virtually not genetic difference between a Tigrayan, an Oromo, or an Amhara. So my question to y'all is, is there a feeling of we would be better of forming our state amoung the tigrayan diaspora? and if so, what would you think would mend the gap so that we do not see this feeling persist

✈️ αŒ‰α‹•α‹ž/travel Flights to Mekelle Set to Restart on Sunday October 11

Ethiopian Airlines has announced on its official Facebook page, in an Amharic post, that flights to Mekelle will start operating again on October 11, 2026, following a temporary suspension.

Passengers can book their tickets through the airline’s offices or by contacting its call centre on 6787.

The move could suggest that Mekelle is once again under federal control, although the resumption of flights alone does not confirm the city’s military or administrative status.

It remains unclear whether services to Shire and Aksum will also restart. Meanwhile, reports of fighting between federal forces and TPLF fighters continue to emerge from parts of Tigray.

The U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa issued a security alert this week advising U.S. citizens to avoid travel to the Afar, Amhara, and Tigray regions, and urging those currently in those areas to depart if safe to do so.

I believe these flights are intended to help foreign nationals (including Tigrayans with foreign passports) return to Addis Ababa so they can safely travel back to their home countries.

πŸ“° α‹œαŠ“/news The partisan U.S let it slip in their most recent report that the ENDF, of whom they support via their full backing of the neoliberal UAE backed Abiy regime, have credible reports against them on their use of child soldiers.

2026 Trafficking in Persons Report: Ethiopia

Credible sources reported the government’s Ethiopian national defense forces (ENDF) unlawfully recruited and used child soldiers, including in combat and support roles... During the reporting period, the ENDF and government-affiliated forces unlawfully recruited and used child soldiers. The state-mandated human rights commission conducted some investigations into these cases but did not report initiating any criminal investigations or prosecutions related to these cases.

Given that the Abiy regime tried to slander the TDF with false accusations of using child soldiers during the first phase of the genocidal war (2020-2022) and the TPLF in the current second phase where foreign media has also joined them in tandem with their respective govts dropping the impartial act (1) it's important that this slip up by the U.S is not missed even if in that same report they continue their pro-Abiy policy of trying to make all sides seem morally equal while firmly supporting Abiy's regime irl. You'll also notice some bs imperialistic accusations against Cuba as you skim through toward the bottom.

Also important to remember is that during the first phase of the genocidal war, the Abiy regime were caught red handed by foreign media in manufacturing fake propaganda for their false child soldier accusations against the TDF:

πŸ—£οΈ αˆ•α‰Άα‰³α‰΅/questions Do you Think we Could Ever get a Tigray Flag Emoji on Phones?

edit to clarify I do not have a decided stance on if Tigray should be independent or not, I don't know enough about what answer is the best outcome for Tigrayans. I just want the emoji.

Obviously this is not super important or anything, but I keep getting frustrated that there is no Tigray emoji on phones in the default emojis. I wanna show my Tigrayan pride more easily in spots where you can only put limited text and emojis πŸ”΄πŸŸ‘ (I mean I know a lot of people use the circles but :P).

πŸ˜… I promise I actually talk a lot about serious issues in real life and this is not a particularly serious issue lol. I've been informing friends and honestly anyone who will listen about what's going on in Tigray based on updates I hear from family.

I guess I just wanted to hear if other people are also a little annoyed that there isn't a dedicated emoji for it in the phone when you wanna use one for a little bit of flair in your text.

Selam everyone, I’m Eritrean and would like to hear from people in Tigray about what’s going on there. I heard something about Mekelle. Are there really Eritrean soldiers in Tigray right now? What is this war about now?

Also, what else is going on in Tigray? I saw a video of a child from Tigray kidnapped by the RSF who Abiy is heavily helping via UAE. It seems like Tigray is in the middle of a lot of strife from different directions.
