Isn't Gawrsh his way of saying god? Wouldn't "Oh Gawrsh you're gonna make me Hyuck" make more sense?

We’re at a crossroads of localization theory: do we prioritize semantic fidelity, preserving the literal meaning of the words as you suggest? Or do we prioritize phonetic fidelity, sacrificing exact meaning to perfectly substitute the rhyme of 'fuck' with 'hyuck'?

Observe, the wild linguist. He commences his mating ritual.
A deep, thorough semantic analysis. Skillfully executed with salacious wit and impeccable grammar.
It’s impressive! Nearby females, drawn by the display, begin to gather.

In the Micky Mouse universe is Goofy a smart dog or is Pluto a dumb dog? or are they different species?
142
u/LuciusCaeser 1d ago edited 1d ago
I'm guessing goofy is the evolution of dog. Pluto is Goofys equivalent to a monkey is to us
64
u/Roskal 1d ago
divergent evolution from a common ancestor then?

yeah pretty much. I mean I have no evidence for this, but it makes sense to me

Based on a Donald Duck comic about duck hunting, Goofy would be considered "domesticated," while Pluto would be "real." Hope this helps.

At Disney World I was told by someone running a workshop on how to draw Disney characters that Goofy is “technically a man”. Do with that information as you will.

Isn’t he a metaphor for black men? He was literally described by original designer as “shiftless, good-natured colored boy”

Goofy is more evolved. The difference between Goofy and Pluto is like the difference between you and a chimpanzee. They're both dogs, you're both apes. But there's a clear evolutionary difference.

Obviously Goofy's the dom and Pluto is the sub.... how hard is this to understand? Disney was very clear.

In front Of Bluey?! Animals!
But seriously Disney has always been kinda weird when it came to animals with human emotions and sentience but then ....they have pets like real world pets.
If I remember correctly Pete, Goofys neighbor in gooftroop (which totally holds up by the way), also had a little pet dog ....and they were cats ....with dog neighbors. I think Goofy had a cat in that series too

112
56
u/Drow_Femboy 1d ago
That's how she always used to be. She would normally just be in a skirt, same way as mickey just wears shorts.
42
u/konstantynopolytanka 1d ago
and yet, Donald only wears a top, the logic is impeccable.

u/CarfDarko 1d ago

have you ever seen a wet owl...? Maybe he is like that, when he is wet his feathers reveal too much ;) Which would be funny considering he is a duck...
→ More replies (5)5
u/cr0wsquirrel 1d ago
Of course he has to wear something or he would be naked and we couldn't have that. And socks are not very comfortable on duck feet or other duck places. /Jk
I also very much like the wet owl idea posed by the other person.

u/h8rfisternator 1d ago
That comic depicts Kingdom Hearts 1 Minnie, who like Mickey doesn't wear a top.

I was at a friend's party, buffet style breakfast food. The dog won't let me go out the front door to smoke, so I head out back to have a cigarette and hang out with the chickens. I snagged a few sausages on the way and share them with the birds. They loved them.
Everyone's looking at me funny when I get back in. Turns out, those were chicken sausages...
33
u/TheOrqwithVagrant 1d ago
It's okay, chickens will cannibalize each other at the drop of a hat, so it's perfectly fine for any other species, birds included, to eat them. In terms of brain capacity, chickens are just above self-propelled vegetables.
→ More replies (1)12
u/Wiregeek 1d ago
See, that's what I said! Also, that if it had the chance a chicken would happily eat you.

There was a strange feeling of 'this is perfectly fair!' when I tried alligator for the first time. I don't think I've eaten any other animal that could actually eat me if I wasn't already dead.

Depends on the rules of the universe but sometimes an anthro animal having a pet isn't that weird. An anthro dog with a pet dog would be like a human having a pet monkey.

human emotions and sentience but then ....they have pets like real world pets
Personally I dont get why people find that weird. IMO its kinda like humans and chimpanzee, similar but breached out long ago into two different species. One is sapient and the other is not so not sapient end either as wild animals or pets
The problem is people still seeing them as "animals" (Goofy is a dog) and not as people which is what they are in their series

I mean. That's a bit the same like saying it's weird we on earth have domesticated corgies, but we also still have grey wolves. Or that we have humans but also still have chimpanzees. Just because some species have developed, doesn't mean their less developed counterparts have just stopped existing on our earth.

Goofy is not a dog. He's a goof. His name is Goofy Goof, like his friends Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. If there's evolution in Mickey's world, it's the equivalent of a human and a monkey, 2 divergent paths from a shared ancestor.

Goofy is a dog. Pluto is also a dog.
Goofy just has a better agent. I have this from Goofy's own mouth. (attended a panel with Bill Farmer, and he got the inevitable question, and gave that answer. The extra funny thing, of course, is that he's also Pluto's voice actor...)

Most likely explanation: OP just wanted to draw a gimp mask to get the point across.
But funny enough, there's also gimp masks with dog designs that have snouts, so if you want you can technically see this as their equivalent
