I don't like to get up every day and go to work.

I am doing this 'work' thing for last twelve years.

I have to do it for another fifteen years.

I dread every morning.

I dread the day after holiday when I have to go to work.

Don't know what to do

My job is literally destroying my mental health. It has reached the point where I experience horrific breakdowns and have to take time off. Luckily for me I am not the only one who has fallen sick but it isnt something I can do long term anymore.

We work alternative shift patterns and have very rigid breaks to the point they would make use work back the time we would use the toilet. I had a bit of a fall out with my team leader so was stripped off all admin duties and forced strictly to take calls. After speaking to OH I was referred to a psychriatrist and diagnosed with PTSD who provided adjusments but they refuse to make them long term since we are so short on staff. People keep backstabbing each other and I dont feel I can progress at all in anyway, cause I am unable to make any routine. I apply for other jobs but always end up so burnt out by the end of the day. My relationships dont tend to last cause of the impact it has on me. I am tempted to just quit at this stage, but I am paranoid over money and dont know when Ill find new employment. I also have 0 family here and am pretty much on my own.

Work has finally broke me

Just a quick rant before I go to work. Sorry

A relief was hired to help me- take some of the work off my back. But they refuse to step up. And I’m stuck with the same work while looking like an a$$ while trying to either get them to do work or giving them a second task. I’m done trying, done being told I’m being rude for acting like that (when I’m like please do this I want to not do it today!!)

this relief can do whatever they want I’ll do my job I won’t ask for help and they can sit and the corner and do nothing. Or they can find random small things to keep busy, I just don’t care anymore.

I’m just going to keep my eyes down, do my job and go home. I don’t care anymore. Work has finally broke me totally. I’m done looking like a jerk because I want equal tasks for the two of us instead of me doing it all. I get it. I’m not supposed to have an equal job. God please let me leave this place.

Hate being the fill in

I really hate being the fill in. For context I work at a chicken shop and my current role is whenever someone calls out im the one that was hired specifically to fill in for people's shift. It also makes it to where I have 0 consistency in my shifts. I could work openings, I might work a close. I might work a close into an opening with less than 10 hours before the next shift. I hate it so much. We recently had to shut down for a couple days and I was so happy to not be working. But now im being asked to fill in for a coworker who called out and I wasn't even scheduled tomorrow. Want to say no so bad but again...i was hired mostly to fill the gaps...

Retail hell

I started working at Bealls 4 weeks ago to make extra money for a puppy, alongside my 2 days a week at a preschool. The plan was to work 3–4 days a week, every other weekend, and never on preschool days. Unfortunately, none of that has happened. I’ve worked every weekend, constantly get closing shifts despite being available all day, and have even been scheduled to work both jobs in one day.

I’ve realized retail just isn’t for me. I’m exhausted, dread going to work, and feel like I never get to enjoy my days because I work every day and dread the shift. For $10 an hour and $120 paychecks, it honestly isn’t worth the stress.

My question is, how should I go about quitting? Do I give my boss a formal resignation letter and work my two weeks, even though I’ve only been there 4 weeks? I’m worried it’ll be uncomfortable knowing they’ve invested so much time in training me. Or do I just text her and explain that I’m leaving? I don’t want to burn bridges, but I also don’t want to spend another two weeks miserable.
Should I be honest and say the job isn’t for me, or explain that my preschool has offered me more hours? I do substitute there, and it pays better and is something I actually enjoy. I gave retail a chance, but it just isn’t for me. What would you do?

Should I quit my job now?

I (F) had been working as a cashier at a small food court in Chennai. This food court has great customer retention but the sales has been pretty decent. I'd been working here for 9 months. My working hours are from 11 am to 11 pm, Monday to Saturday (I give my 11 hours daily excluding my lunch break.) My monthly salary is ₹14000.

My salary had never been credited on time except once. 5th day of the month is our salary day. The cooks get paid, like 3-5 days late and I get paid 8-14 days after the salary day. (They send money to their families so it's kinda understandable) Its 17th of October and I haven't received my pay yet.

Also, I hate this job because I never felt respected here. I'm naturally a shy person but whenever I put a small effort to make myself visible to customers, the cooks overshadow me. While paying, the customer looks at the cook, not me. I'm invisible. I just gave up trying. I simply sit near the cash register, do my thing and leave. I'm not here to impress anyone. Now, I even look for excuses to take leaves. Now I'm given warning not to take too many days off.

I really want to quit this job. But I don't have skills now. I have 4 months of salary saved in my account. I'd been applying for part-time receptionist jobs so I can develop skills while working but I got no reply.

Now my question is... Is it a wise decision to quit now? Is getting paid late every month normal in a growing restaurant business? Or is this a subtle sign that the business is struggling with cash flow or going to fail?

In Hindsight

I hated this job.

I can’t work in foster care I was used to housing and I tried it but it seemed like a learnings curve to big for me with nobody there to train me for several months and having to learn as I go. Which is fine but when you don’t give me access to wya system you use and keep putting me in spots that make my job harder with no real direction it doesn’t help .

It fucking sucks

Then you remove me from that position after being burned out from the first one and put me in charge of mentoring . With the expectation being for me to be good at it when u barely knew about it.

I was set up for failure and the reality is that I was fucked from the jump. I just stopped caring eventually

First job experience. Does it ever get better?

• Upvotes

So I’m 24, and got my first job at a remote IT company around 8 months ago. It’s a startup, so I’m usually all-over-the-place, handling social media, outreach, website design, etc…

For the past 3 months, I’ve been unbelievably drained. Not a “I hate work, but I need it to survive” drained, but a “I’m about to send in my notice with no plan for the future.” Type of drained. I’m at my wits end. My only motivating factors that keeps me going forward is getting the salary, and having to deal with the living situation if I leave, but for the past month, even those variables aren’t enough to keep me going. I hate the people, I hate the expectations that are set on me, I hate the daily meetings that take up 2 hours of my day, every work day.

But what I hate most at the moment is AI. My company uses AI for everything. Outreach? AI. Coding? AI. Social media? AI. There’s not an inkling of creativity or self-expression at my job. It’s all reliant on sending 6 prompts to models, and managing them. I hate what the software industry has shaped into.

I’m thinking of pulling the plug when it comes to this job, and software development in general. The job market is in a horrible place right now, but I have 3 months of savings that I can tap into to find a new job. However, every guiding figure in my life has said the same thing, that “Work’s the same everywhere, just deal with it.” So I’m at a complete loss as to what to do.

I’ve tried applying to different jobs, even different sectors, but I’m so drained from work that I just don’t have the energy to keep applying after a workday, and the last thing I want to do is cut into the little amount of free time I have left.

Please let me know if it gets less miserable, or what I can do to get through this period of life.

A customer went off on me

• Upvotes

This customer went off on me for counting her clothes. My job as a fitting room associate is to count all items when the customers come in and come out. This lady was trying on three sets of bras and I had to count them. So I counted them and when I did, she went into one of the stalls cussing at me and saying “F U B”. She was so rude. I wanted to cuss her out back, but I couldn’t. I wanted to fight her so bad and win, but I didn’t. So yeah.

Burn out or short term disability?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Posting for an older colleague who doesn’t use Reddit.

“New job. 5 months in as a commercial account manager. Been working in sales for over a decade. Never felt this way ever.

Job is asking way too much. Never have I felt this burnt out. I’m thinking of going on short term disability which covers up to 20 weeks and 60% of my pay. This will burn through my little savings within 5 months. I honestly don’t want to stay but I don’t want to go broke after 5 months and cannot support my family (3 kids and a partner).

Every day opening up my laptop and looking at my work phone… I feel like I’m in a burning building. It’s either I burn in it. Or jump out and quit with no job lined up. Going through spreadsheets answering emails etc. my eyes. I just go dyslexic.

What am I asking? Is there anyone who went through this only to feel like it was worth while at the end? (Aside from health side. I’m working on that now. )”

Thanks in advance

Earning for a living

Hello All,

I am 32F, I stay in a town close to Mumbai. I work in IT and in total I have around 80lacs(stocks, gold, sip, everything). I don't like my job, especially the work culture where my manager sits on my head and forces me to work.

Each day I think of resigning.

I don't have a lot of needs. What options do I have if I quit now.
